It's a basic mixer, so if you know how to use a mixer this should be easy.

I have nothing to compare with so I can't tell you if it colours the sound or not (however I wouldn't be surprised), but it certainly has serious hiss. Like enough hiss that it is a real problem even for non-professional use. The hiss comes when you turn up the "Main Mix" out knob so I keep that as low as possible and crank the channel levels. However if you do this too much you create internal distortion, even when the "peak" lights aren't lighting up. The best position for the "Mail Mix" knob is about 9 o'clock.

The hiss is a big issue. Also some of the knobs make noises when I turn them. It is kind of frustrating to use because it is not a quality piece of equipment, so to get something okay out of it is work. I've used it mostly for fooling around recording things into my computer. When I got it I knew nothing, so this was a good tool to learn with. Now that I know something, I'm thinking of upgrading, and I'm looking forward to the ease of dealing with some quality equipment!!

Bought this unit as a snap purchase for my home studio over 3 years ago. How hard is it to use a mixer? this one anyway was a piece of cake. Manual - never read it. A few limiting factors affect the percieved versatility as previously mentioned (ie. master volume affecting both tape and main outs, tape in only having an on/off type switch with no level meters) but there are easy workarounds to get what one wants out of the thing. Another annoying point is the lack of on/off switch.

The sound isn't colouring my mixes noticeably, but I know that my yamaha promix gives more clarity and more midrange to my instruments/computer audio than this allows, and the eq's on the ub802 are pretty average. I only use this mixer to converge two computers and a set of cdj's & dj mixer to my powered monitors. Recording is done via a motu 828mkII and alesis 3630 compressor straight into a pc so I have never tried the pre-amps in the 802.

I bought this unit in 2004, and it has, due to the lack of power switch, been left on for 3 years straight, give or take a day or two while I moved house. A few of the pots are slightly crackly, but it has never been the cause of any issue in my studio. It is covered in dust and ciggarette ash. I should give it a clean, but I don't think its needed... so for that I give an honest 10/10 for reliability.

I have never had to deal with costomer support and I own quite a few pieces of behringer equipment (b2031 monitors, BCR2000 midi controller, B1 mic, ultra di-pro8000). They've all done the job with little fuss or fanfare (although no flair either) for years.

I use this product at least every second day and pretty much forget about its existence for weeks at a time as I control my levels from the source usually. For the type of music I write (trance/dance music) it does the job. I would prefer to put my yamaha promix01 in its place due to its cleaner audio, additional inputs and built in effects but I am space limited and push my mids a little to account for its scoop. Instruments I use include an alesis ion, all the electribes, electric & classical guitars, mics, 307 groovebox, tribal percussions and 2 pcs running ableton live, reason and a bunch of softsynths and vsts. I wouldn't buy it again but wouldnt sell it either. The UB802, for the money at the time, was a perfect purchase and is feature rich considering the price of the competition (ie. Mackie). It would be great to have more control of the volume of individual outputs and tape input, as well as power switch. Some effects would not have gone astray either. Ultimately though it has endeared itself to my studio through its reliability and hassle free operation. No other piece of equipment ever have I left switched on for three years, let alone without a hitch.

I've not seen the unit produce any noticable hiss on my setup. I have two that I use to do live mixing into a tascam dp-01fx. It only records 2 channels at once so these cheap mixers have worked wonders for me. I use one mixer strictly for micing a drumset and going into the first channel on the 8 track. The second mixer is for various vocal mics and the guitars and bass. It's worked really well for me. I just bought a Behringer EX3200 Ultrafex that I'm going to put inline between the 2 mixers and the 8 track to help out the sound a bit. I don't blame the mixers but my cheap mics and amps.

I bought this mixer (actually I bought two) to use in my studio purely for headphone monitoring while recording tracks. I can connect many tracks in to it, put little rever on each submix, set the tracks levels and out it goes from the moxer output my headphones. In this way it is a very usefull mixer. However it is very noisy producing a lot of hiss which is a problem since I can't tell if what I'm recording is clean or not. I've put a "band aid" on this now by going from the output to a Gate unit and from there to another headphone amp. That stopes the hiss, vell still don't tell me if I record clean. This mixer somewhat does the job for this the monitoring purpose anyway but I'd never record through it because apart from the noise it also changes the EQ even when mixer EQs are flat.

For the price it is well build inside out I can't complain, however the sockets seem to oxidate a lot as I have to pull audio plugs in and out few times to clear the sockets because I've experienced signal drop outs quiet few times due to the oxidation. The pots, I don't use them much since I have levels generally set but when I use to pots lot of the are scratchy so again I have to give them all few turns monthly to clear them out. The power plug is total crap, it's got 5 or so small pins than can bend easy, besides the plug falls out if you tug on it couple of times. Not too good for road use I'd guess.
I find the power supply pack pain in the arse as it generates a lot of magnetic field and can cause hum interference if it's too close to rest of the power lines or power board. After I bought these mixers I've sopend two days looking for a fucking ground loop hum onlty to fin it was these fucking power packs doing it. GHad to put them in metal box away from everything else. But both mixers still work after two years or so so in this respect they are reliable even though can be troublesome.
The EQs on this mixer have an interesting curve, sounds either harsh or boomy.

My main gripe - lot of hiss. I have no idea how Behringer come up with their S/N ration in specs. Maybe they measured it with power off.
Otherwise it's usefull little mixer if you're not looking for pro quality. Even did a gig with it once on whole PA and it worked good enough.
Overall I don't thing there is anything better for the price so I do't complain because I didn't want to spend $1000 for mixer I'd use only for monitoring.
It is definitivelly not "musical", "ultra", "professional" and what ever they call it and I wish they'd be more upfront with it and say
something like "hey it's a cheap gear and it don't sound that great but it still sounds better than anything else you'll find for this money".
So, the sound wuality isn't so great but the price is good and is good enough for low end applications. Hell I remeber paying for much worse mixer Carlsbro over 20 years ego over $1000. It was huge, and sounded like crap with noise to boot. So if you've been there for so long as well you'd know that buying the same for $100 it's not that bad.
Yeah all right I carry on too long... I'm boored at the moment.

I use it right on a technics SU-500 class A 2x50W amplifier, and connected to the mixer they are an mp3 player, a boss AC-2 ndd a line6 pod 2.0. guitar is an ibanez RG550bk with d'addario 010-046.
hearing it when i play, it's really difficult to hear differences. so it's ok for my tastes to connect a physical modeling device to it without noticeable loss of quality. however, even if i'm not a technician sometimes i can hear some distortion when hearing music through it, and when splitting right and left channels of the mp3 player one into the mixer and the other right to the amplifier, and hearing one at time it's simple to notice that the sound isn't exactly the same.
preamplified inputs are more noisy then others, and in general it's not too quiet but nothing to worry about so much i think. raising something on equalizers may add lots of hiss, i use it only on AC-2 to add mids and lows

I've used this mixer to get a live mix for drums and also in my home studio as a pre-amp, it is very simple and easy to use. The pans work well for isolating channels. I haven't quite figured out the return buttons, but the phanthom power works well.

I have gotten good quality from using it as a drum mixer where the gig was being recorded. The sound was pretty accurate. In home recording, I use it for a two channel pre-amp by panning tow channels left and right and then using the tape out left and right to two channels on the DAW. There is almost no bleed that I can detect and as long as I don't add too much gain and eq most things flat I can get a fairly good sound with enough headroom and almost no noise.

I use this mixer for blues/rock/country. I've been playing for most of the last 20 years and have not owned many more reliable pieces of equipment. Unless it suddenly were to stop working for some unknown reason I would by another one. I know there are other pre-amps made that are especially for recording, but If this one had line outs for each channel, I don't think it could be beat for the price range.

I purchased this to use in a home studio with a Fostex VF-80. I found the mic pre-amps in the Fostex to be somewhat lacking and needed a low-cost alternative with phantom power. This had been recommended by many Fostex users on a forum I belong to.
I have not noticed any extraneous noise, but I use very short (1 foot) patch cables between the mixer and the recorder. I would not consider the sound to be pristine, but then neither were the old mixing boards at Abbey Road studios and look at some of the classic records made there.
This has no built-in FX but I understand Behringer is planning to release a similar sized unit with FX in the next few months. I'm looking forward to trying the new units out.

While I play music in a folk/country/rock mode similar to early Poco/Eagles/Stone Canyon Band, I also have a fondness for rockabilly and British beat music. I have found this unit to add the right amount of color to my recordings, helping me to approximate a 50s Sun Studio sound in my home studio.
I've been playing for over 35 years but have only recently ventured into the field of having a home studio. I am however, wanting to venture into some experiments similar to late-60s psychedelia, so I'm looking forward to the introduction of the smaller Eurorack mixers with FX and trying those.
If this were stolen, I would consider purchasing another Behringer unit.
The biggest drawback to this unit that I have found is the lack of an on/off switch, but since I use a power strip with an on/off switch, this is a minor concern.

Right now,I'm just using it to run my bass through.I've only had it for a day.For those having noise problems, turn the treble down on the mixer;I found out you can add a lot of hiss to the sound, but it doesn't add any brightness to the mix.Turn the treble down if it doesn't make the sound dull.Otherwise, you're just adding unneeded hiss.

I've bought two couple of months ego to use for rehearsal recordings only so the mixer stay in one place all the time. Some of the pots get scratchy all ready! Power supply cable plug has tiny plastic "thing" inside that holds the plug in place, one has broken off the fiorst time I've plugged it in. Today I found the on one of the mixers one input channel has 4db less output so rang the shop about warranty, they said the policy is I got to pay for the freight and that it can take nearly a month! So I check the manual about warranty and that confirmed it. I got to pay for the freight and it can take up to 30 days. In the mean time I'd be without mixer? What is this?!
I'LL MAKE SURE ALL MY FRIENDS KNOW ABOUT THE QUALITY YOU MAKE.
Two mixers only couple of months old and both JUNK. My god I've got 20 year old el'cheapo Tandy mixer I use for gigs and that still works like new.

It an extremely versatile little mixer and has a lot more features than one could think of in such small unit and it's price. Included are feed back loop, headphone, tape and room ouputs which is usefull.I wish there was an independed volume control for the room and tape outs since tweaking the master also affects the rest but not a big problem.
The led VU is a bit silly. It's shows level for both the input gain and ouput gait. That's wrong and should be showing only the input gain level. But at least the mixer has plenty of headroom and won't distort easy on high input.

When it comes to sould for live usage it is just fine. However for studio it is another matter. It suppose to be it is ultra low noise and transparent but does have quiet bit of hiss. As for transparency, not a chance. If you got decent hifi sytem listen to it and than plug this mixer through it. What you'll hear will be nothing like the original singnal. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying it sounds bad. It just sounds different, infact the color of the sound seems to be constant with all Behringer products I've tried. Has the digital feel to it somewhat Opamp (chip amplifier) sounding, accompanied by a scoop at around 1K midrange which takes some of the life out of the sound. It's all about the sound color man, get it? :-)
I bought it to replace my vintage Carlsbro mixer because that was rather noisy. The mixer is the last thing in chain before hard drive recorder. The Behringer even though noisy is still quieter than the old Carlsbro (but is reasonably transparent) but sacrifices must be made and at the end of the day I get better recordings even though I have to set for extra midrange on the Behringer.

Pretty easy for anyone who's using mixers not for the first time but the manual has it all and it consise. What I like about the maker of this unit (same applies to Zoom products) is that if you're really serious about what you're getting you can download and read up on the manual and go to the store you can try out the thing for yourself and not look like a monkey at what the salesman is twicking stuff.

Excellent - I love playing really heavy Pantera-like stuff and I am using cheap and outdated equipment (the only decent things I have is my Jackson PS-4 with Duncan Distortion in bridge and neck, this mixer and shure sm-48) when put my old noisy stomp box with slight overdrive + cranked up distortion on Zoom 505 + my amp/speaker combo it does have a background noise (although my combo is not that noisy) but when I put all that through the mixer this noise is gone by I'd say 70%. No audible distortion. My Shure sounds amazing through it. Very natural.

As I mentioned I play all rock type stuff but 90% it's whatever that is based on utterly distorted and low-end thrash guitar sound but I do care about not getting distortion from where it's not intended. And this mixers does not end to that distortion. I've been playing for aound 14 years but now I am home recording type of guy. I'd have to say that for the price - it's dirt cheap and excellent sound quality. Beware when Behringer become as big a name as Roland/Boss or Digitech these units won't be that cheap so hurry up. You know, these digital technologies get widespread with time and those who were at the start might turn out a bit slow in adding extra features some of which do enhance sound qualities. Those that bought into the process try to avoid mistakes piligrims had made. That gives Behringer an advantage and they're using it wisely (no rip-off pricings).

Excellent sound quality. VERY low noise. I compared a signal going through the mixer to a signal going straight into my soundcard and the level of extra noise is slight. I'd give it a 10 if it were totally silent I suppose but that is impossible with analog.
I also compared it to an Event EZbus digital mixer and I was surprised at how close it was able to match the Event regarding low noise. (Even the Ezbus had noise because at some point (input) there is analog before digital-unless all inputs are turned down, but then that would never be done!!) Well it couldn't match it but it came with a few db's and also the 802A can handle a louder signal without distorting than the EZbus. I had to turn my Moog down when going into the Event EZbus a little compared to the Eurorack.

If you can hook-up a stereo you can use this unit. The layout of the controls is very intuitive and focused. You hardly need the manual except to read-up on precautions, do's and don'ts, etc. The unit is literally plug and play right out of the box.
The only thing I thought was strange with this mixer is that is doesn't seem to have an on / off switch. As soon as the unit is plugged in it's on. So if you don't have a power bar or use a switched power source, your unit will be on all the time.

Guitar: Epiphone Les Paul
Effects: BOSS TU-2 (Tuner pedal), BOSS MT-2 (Metal Zone), Line 6 POD
Amp: Crate BX-15
I had a few sound sources I wanted to control to give me a centralized sound workstation. I wanted to control the output from my guitar->effects->POD and my CD player (used for practice, backing-tracks etc.) and be able to channel them independently either to my amp, my headphones or monitors if I ever got some at the press of button. This unit solves all of the above mentioned issues perfectly.
The unit is absolutely noiseless during use. The only noise I hear is what I'm playing which is what you want. The pots to control the mixer's settings are very smooth and responsive. When practicing, I pan my guitar input to the left and the practice CD track input to the right in my headphones so I can hear both simultaneously.
You're amp doesn't have a CD input? No problem. Use this mixer and combine your guitar's input plus any other sound source and feed the output to your amps input. Voila, a combined sound of both sources without loss of signal or volume from either. Simple but very flexible as far as playing options go. I can play totally silent now too. It's a damn good mixer, period.

The look and feel of this unit just make it a treat to use and it's made my guitar setup that much easier and comfortable to work with which makes me play more and ultimately better.
It's scalable, easy to use and does exactly what it's supposed to.
And last but certainly not least, the price is phenomenal. 100$ Canadian for a unit that really organized my sound is definitely worth the price in my opinion. Thank you Behringer.
