It's easy enough to get a good sound from it, but there's a lot of knobs and switches, so it takes a while to find which sound you like best. There's no manual delivered with the pedal, but who needs a manual for a stompbox.

With a name like Metal-End you know it's a "metal" distortion. Even with the gain knob all the way down through a pristine clean solidstate amp there's still some hair on the sound. Gain all the way up gives mondo gobs of death metal distortion. If you need more gain than this you're just being silly.
Gain at 12 o'clock gives 80s tones, but even at 10 o'clock it's enough for 70s metal and most hardrock.
On top of the usual gain, level and EQ there are four switches:
1) Amp simulator on/off: on seems to make it brighter.
2) Modern/normal/classic: according to me this changes the shaping of your mids to a more modern sound or classic (70s-80s).
3) Highs cut on/off: kind of like a presence switch. Boosts or cuts the hihgs.
4) Bright/normal/warm: more sound shaping. I personally prefer the "warm" setting.

Looks well built. It's certainly sturdy enough. High quality components, true bypass switch, etc, etc. Only thing is you gotta be really careful when replacing the battery. As big as the pedal is, they battery is a really snug fit and sits between the side of the pedal and the circuit board!

If stolen I'd buy another one in a heartbeat. Best metal distortion pedal ever. It kicks a Boss Metalzone's butt any day! The problem I've always had with the Metalzone is I could set it for a good rhythm tone but couldn't get a decent lead tone out of it. Too fizzy and "wasp in a jam jar". This Biyang doesn't have that issue. Nice thumping metal rhythm tone with a nice sustaining lead tone. It's more natural and amp-like than any high-gain distortion I've heard so far, including some boutique ones. If Biyang's other effects are the same quality I'm looking into their chorus next.

Great unit from Biyang. No manual and none required. Just plug in and tweak to taste. Very easy to get a slammin' sound.

I am not sure why this unit has not yet been reviewed, but I guess the word takes a bit to get around. This is a pretty kickin' Dist. box and not sure it can be touched for what I paid for this unit. Numerous subtle settings that will change the tone just enough to take you to different places. All toggle switching and this can get nasty. There is alot of gain happening here, so you might have to adjust either the Metal End or the Amp gain to ensure you are not conjuring up unwanted feedback and other demon noise. It will take a little amp and put you in an arena-like mindset for all you bedroom jammers. For stage, just dial it in and let it go. Maybe not what you would call a warm distortion tone, but I like it blasting and well... metallic and the Metal End certainly fits the bill.
Again, very, very nice for the price and the word is spreading.

So far, no problems. Solid SS casing, True Bypass, seems solid and well built. Mine came from the US Dist of Biyang from the Bay, and do feel I can get assistance if something should flame out.
A backup is always just good business.

Again, I think resellers take this seriously and are willing to provide assistance, so I feel good about being supported on this and other Biyang effects I own as well.

I would give a 10 for value, but I believe a 9 is a fair assesment for the total overall experience. I play mostly hard Blues Rock with Metallic overtones and the Metal End gives me crunch and bite. Again, with the toggle tone options and Amp sim switch, you can get this to move in alot of different subtle directions.
Great value for players of all levels.
