Simple. Plug it in, use it. The diagram on the pedal makes it clear how to set it up for 2 in/1 out or 1 in/2 out. Nothing to it.
The one issue I have with it is the batteries. It's a pain that it can't use an AC adaptor and that it takes different batteries to all my other stuff. (AA or AAA, I can???t remember which). And you need a screwdriver to change them! They last quite a while though (nearly a year for me using it weekly), and you do get considerable warning before they are too flat (the channel A LED starts to dim. Eventually channel A gets quieter and fuzzier until, presumably, it disappears.

I have used this extensively for almost two years in both configurations (2 in/1 out or 1 in/2 out) and noticed no impact on sound quality at all - it's completely transparent. This is with a number of different guitars including some vintage ones (1980s Ibanez Roadstar, 1998 Maton Mastersound MS 500, 1967 Maton L-202, 1957 Maton premier 45A, late Model Fender Srat) and a couple of amps (Marshall AVT100, Vox AC50CPH).
One reviewer mentioned a weak channel A: in my experience this is a symptom of low batteries.

It's never let me down. I would use it without a backup, and you get enough warning that the batteries are running down to not be taken by surprise. However I carry a spare set and a screwdriver just on case.

I'm completely happy with this overall, with the battery issue just being a minor issue (I've only had to change them once, and now I know the signs). I use it primarily to switch between two guitars using the same amp, and it's brilliant, I can keep talking to the crowd when I do it. I have also used it to switch one guitar between a tuner and an amp. I am thinking of getting another so I can do both (two guitars into on AB-2, then into another which goes to the tuner and the amp.

Seems well built. My old Boss digital delay (DD-2?) from the late 80's is still working great.

This does what I wanted - lets me change between two guitars into one amp. It does not seem to affect the sound, tone, or volume. And it was cheap - even new, it's easily half the price of the nearest quality competitor.
It is not perfect. The biggest negative is that it uses 2 AAA batteries instead of the standard 9V - what were they thinking? You can't even use an AC adapter with it. Also, plugging a cable to the single out/in engages the battery, which means this must be unplugged when not in use (bad for us pedalboard guys). Eventually I am going to try to modify it so that it can work on a 9V AC adapter.

It does the job perfect but thre is no option to not use batteries. This sucks because batteries don't last and are expensive. Also to change the batteries I need to remove it from my pedal board setup every time.
I'll say it agian it does the job perfectly but come on, batteries to run a switch, what were they thinking.

Easy as can be. I appreciate not having the Y button that might accidentally turn on both of my basses at once. The set of letter/number stickers is helpful in keeping straight which bass is A and which is B.

I didn't notice any change in sound, at least not enough to notice on a gig where the noise masks the small differences anyhow. Slight pop when switching but not loud or sharp.

100 hours on a set of batteries sounds good. Can leave it plugged in on the whole gig and still have many more nights ahead.

Great value, great tool. Much better than the Morley I tried first. The Morley's passive design both reduces signal level and thins the tone. No change for the Boss pedal. Great price for something so handy. It truly amazed the bandmates how fast I could switch basses...be holding one, turn around and the other one would be in hand.

Actually, I'm retracting my earlier statement. Upon opening the effect and examining all the connections, it began working properly. It actually didn't cause TOO much extra buzz, just a little. My Vox already buzzes in my room, due to a poorly grounded outlet, and didn't get any worse with the pedal. My Marshall however (with full gain) buzzed only slightly more. My signal was not degraded in anyway, either. I guess it's a pretty nice pedal.

I wouldn't. Out of the box, it was shotty and I had to fix it myself (even though it took little effort) I guess the moral of the story is, "try before you buy." Other than that, I'm expecting years of good use.

I guess it actually does do it's job, and quite well, but it came busted and I had to fix it, so, watch out if you wanna get one.

I don't know exactly what to give it. I'm running a Vox AC-30 clean (channel A) and a Marshall JCM900 distorted (channel B)and noticed that the Vox's volume was almost 1/3 of what it should have been. I ignored it. Then I noticed that the tremelo pulse was making a thudding noise under the hum. I switched channels and the Marshall had a full tone. When I switched the amps around, the Vox had all the tone and the Marshall had a weak tone. I guess Channel A gets no grounding or something. I even tried breaking the third prong on a power chord and replacing the batteries to no avail. I guess, be weary. I never used it to witch between two guitars, so, no info on that front.

It's a Boss, what can I say. It will probably never break, but if it does, there will be no customer service, cuase it's Boss. It seems like it's built like a tank and would work stand alone on the floor, which is what I've been doing.

I guess... it's overall a pretty decent pedal, it just fails to do what I wanted it to do well. Maybe a transformer or noise-supressor would work to improve Channel A tone. But, if you got the money, go with a nicer AB-box.

I tried this today...and sorry, mate, but it does affect your signal. I plugged a Tele into a Vibrolux and noticed a marked reduction in the high end sparkle when using the pedal. Very annoying as I really like the size and ease of use...it is ridiculous though that the power supply option is not available!

It's great for it's size and price...but the tone loss is a huge factor. I play old guitars through old amps at very loud volumes...I won't bore you with a gear list, but I can hear it when a pedal sucks tone...I don't mind it so much if the pedal has some vibe or is vintage...but a brand new A/B switch? Just not worth the tone loss...

This is as easy as it gets: one input, two outputs and a footswitch to change from one to the other. Can be used to switch between two amps or two guitars. I use it to quickly switch between two guitars between songs.

This pedal is not one of those high-price boutique jobs, nor is it a cheap p.o.s. This pedal's switching mechanism is electronic and not mechanical, so I was very skeptical that it would be transparent enough for me to use, but it truly is. I tried over and over again to find some degredation in signal quality or tone, but I absolutely cannot tell the difference when this is in the front of my signal path. I use it to switch between a solid body and a semi-hollow body guitar into a Fulltone Clyde Deluxe Wah -> Carl Martin Compressor -> Tech 21 NYC Double Drive -> Voodoo Lab Sparkle Drive -> Guyatone MD3 Delay -> Fulltone Fat Boost -> Fender Custom Vibrolux Reverb. Again, this is as transparent as a guitar cord.

I've never had a boss product fail on me. I expect the same reliability from this. However, I'll be interested to see how the 2 AAA batteried hold up. There is no option for external power, which amazes and bothers me to no end. I can't quite figure out why there is no way to plug in a trusty PSA-120 to keep this thing powered. I imagin the batteries pretty much just keep the LEDs light-up, but I'll have to see what happend to the signal with batteries removed. I haven't had a chance to do this yet. I'm deducting 2 poitns for no external power optio because that is rediculous.

I found that there are not many options for simple AB boxes out there. I found some really cheap ones and some really expensive ones. I look at this is in between. It performs flawlessly, is completely transparent and does exactly what I need it to do. No external power option is rediculous to me, but all in all its a great product at a fair price.
