The Keeley modded blues driver (BD2) sounds great straight out of the box. Very easy to dial in the sound you want... it is basically a boss stomp box at heart! Keeley's own manual is also helpful.

Tried with single coils and humbuckers. Lovely transparent and responsive tones, really natural. Wide amount of gain and level... works as fab clean boost too! Also very quiet. Yet to gig it but already convinced by it. Played through Peavey classic 30 and just seems to enhance the amp and not cloud it. Does great Wayne Krantz impression, though my playing doesn't!

Boss compact pedal... nuff said!

Not dealt with them.

Played for over 20 years, working pro for 13. This pedal is very usable because it just enhances the sound you already have. Own a lot of gear, mainly solid body strat type player but also love humbuckers. This pedal adds lovely clear grind to those single coils though!

C'mon, 3 knobs - plug it up and dial it in. Also if you open it up it has a feature where you can swap out different op amps -very cool!

Use an American Standard Strat and an Epiphone Les Paul Custom through a Fender Vibroverb. Used with the Strat this pedal shines when used as a clean boost (volume up/ gain down.) TOTAL preservation of tone! Pedal lacks the mids of a TS and is a cleaner sounding pedal overall, but it will get as dirty as you like. There is an odd "decay" when the gain is cranked all the way up - don't get me wrong it is very usable but a funny sounding to my ear. When used with the LP it is simply rock and roll heaven. Dial in the gain anywhere between 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock and have at it!

No need thus far but have heard that CS is very good.

Been playing for 20+ years and I play what ever strikes my ear. Blues, funk, rock, country, jazz you name it. I am also a tone freak and this pedal fits the bill. I was looking for a boost pedal that didn't cost a gazillion bucks and didn't suck. I love the fact that this enhances the sound of my amp without altering it. If you have a good sounding amp and you want to preserve that sound, this pedal is for you. A steal for 95 bucks.

I got this modded at JHS mods. It is really easy to use. I mean you have level, tone, and gain. Then i got a fuzz switch added and a bass boost. I normally keep to gain low and the level 12 or higher. This gives me a nice warm sound and some break up.

Gibson LP standard<bd modded<ernie ball volume<boss dd6<ehx holy grail<badcat tonecat. The blues driver sounds great, especially low gain. At high gain it sounds pretty good, but better low gain. I also like it to boost my amp. When I do that it sounds awesome.

With this mod, it sounds much better than it did without the mod.

This is a standard blues driver with the Monte allum h2o plus mod. Replaces several capacitors, some diodes and the op amp with a burr brown. If you have electronics experience the mod is not that hard to do. Just do one mod at a time then test.

Sound Quality : 10
I make and play custom guitars, mainly teles. This unit is used to add a rough edge to the sound. The unmodded unit was very sterile sounding and a little noisy. The mod makes this thing sing. Responds very much like a slightly overdriven amp. The pedal is very transparent as well. The sterility went away and it is very smooth, it was hard to put the guitar down. I just kept cranking up my peavey. Even at full gain the pedal was very articulate. didn't get all fuzzed out like a lot of grit pedals do. The mod helps the tone knob function a lot better too. Awesome mod, good job Monte!

Didnt need it,

Since modding this pedal, I've wanted to purchase a keeley modded BD to see how they compare, couldn't imagine it being better. The price of the mod is very reasonable, and all the info that comes with it are great. This is a more difficult mod than some of his others, but the sound is well worth it.
