just play around with the knobbs a lil bit, and soon you will be completely used to this thing. The controls aren't all that complicated, manual, rate, depth, and res (i think, not looking at it right now).

I'm runing a Jackson with 2 humbuckers and Floyd bridge through a metal zone, a DS-1 distortion, a crybaby, a digitech xp-300 (don't have it yet, but I know that it's somewhere in my parent's room, just waiting to be unpacked on my birthday in 2 days), through a fender 65 watt. My setup consists of absolutely *** NO NOISE *** and this pedal sounds very sweet when turned on. you can get nice soft chorus-ish tones with the res set low, and powerfull metalic, jet-plane noises with the res set high. Overall, I usually use this pedal for corus like effects and to add some punch to lead stuff.

I got this used from some guy who's had it for like 10 years (the knobs are the old ones they used to make), and it sounds sweet. It has supported my weight several times (do you know how hard it is to turn on a crybaby and a flanger at the same time?), and is still in great working condition. I would use it without a backup in a gig, because it's not my main source of signature sound.

no dealing with company, but their websites are very cool and informative, so I give it a 10.

I play everything. I like everything that incorporates guitar in it, and this is also a good match for EVERYTHING. It sounds great on the clean channel to add a kind of 12 stringiness to the sound, and it's just overwhelming on the dirt. Ive been playing for 3 years so far, and this thing helps me make music, alright. I love how you can get so many different sounds on it, and how versatile it is.
Battery usage: medium. I use an ac adaptor that I took from an old answering machine just so i dont have to worry about battery power. (just make sure it's not set to anything about 9v, or else it'll bust).

OK this is a little more in a pedal then I expected, with the range of sound. To switch with the Rate and Res. knob is definitely simple, but to get the manual on a setting that I understood what it did took a while. Other then that, no problem.

Ok, as said before in an article published, I use a small ten or fifteen watt Guerilla amp, unless I'm on a gig I use a Dimebag Darel for this too, just so ya know the whole setup. This pedal has a wide variety of sound, from a chorus to a strange wooshing, sweeping sound, to a sound only heard on the X-files. I've never used a flanger before, but this does a great job, as far as I know.

THE BODY IS METAL. NOTHING CAN DESTROY THIS THING. The body is incredibly durable, the knobs don't seem to have a flaw here either, though I've never tried to abuse this thing like my other pedals.

This has got to be one of my best investments on a pedal as of yet, the thing is great besides the color (a pinkish tone, I'm colorblind). The company should say this is a chorus/flanger. I love the sound you get with the deep resonance, because it gives a strange second-string feel, but with so much distortion it seems a cow produces the sound! If you like doing a tecno rock, or a trippy little piece of creation, this pedal gives you enough options to highlight anything. A personal recommendation is to play Jimi Hendrix's Voodoo Child with the phase on a little past half way, just to see the way it bends everything up.

I'm using my main guitar which is a Standard America Telecaster---Digitech Whammy---Metal Zone--Dunlop 535Q Wah--Boss DD-5 Delay---Boss BF-2 Flanger---AMP. This setup works great for me. The flanger sounds great through it. I haven't heard many other flangers, but in my opinion it is AWESOME!

Well, from the looks of it, the owner told me he wore tennis shoes when he played...for some odd reason. The paint job has some scratches on it..looks a little worn. But it works like a charm. The previous owner said he had it for 4 months, but it sounds brand new to me.

I give it a perfect 10 in this catagory because it sounds really great, it's built like a tank and it pretty much kicks royal ass. I play a lot of Metallica and the flanger fits in perfectly with the Mehico Bass solo, I also play a lot of other metal and the flanger is very good for what I play. I recomend Boss equipment because they are a very good manufacturer(for the players by the players) and I would like to thank Boss for a very kick ass Flanger

you can get many great sounds out of this peadal, anything from a hard and tight flang to a warm sounding spacy sound great for picking.
i use this peadal all the time, and u can get some great messed up sounds when hooked up with a delay, i prefere the DD-3. it is so much fun just to experiment with this pedal and see what it can do.

I've read about 12 reviews down so far & very few people have understood the purpose of the "Manual" knob. I recently sold my BF-2 but I would still like to help. "Manual" is not a "set 'n' play" control like the others. It controls the flanging in real time. Try this: hit a chord & then immediately turn the knob (while the notes are still ringing). Manual, adj. 1. Done by, used by, or operated by the hands. Hope this helped.

This is a really easy pedal to use. The manual and the Res switches don't do all that much, just minor stuff. The rate and the depth are what really determine what the sound of the flanger is going to be. So it is really easy to use.

I play through a gibson explorer>>>crybaby>>>>boss metal zone>>>>boss flanger>>>>>jcm900 4100 model head>>>>>jcm800 4x12 cab. You can hear the flanging effect through your amp when you're not playing, but that's the only thing that I could see people disliking about this pedal. The overall effect is great; this pedal is capable of not only getting a great flanger effect, it can get semi-chorus and phasing sounds as well. If you really want a true chorus or a phaser sound, you should obviously get those. However, if you can get only one pedal, this is a good compromise. The only Flanger pedal that I hear is better than this one is the MXR one, so I'd suggest you get that one..... if you don't mind spending twice as much. This is definitely a great deal at a very reasonable price.

I've had this pedal for approximately 3 weeks. It seems like a rock, but I haven't had it long enough to know for sure. It does eat batteries though, so get an AC adaptor.

You can't beat this pedal; it's a great price and a great unit altogether. If it were stolen, I definitely would buy it again. Like I said before, the MXR Flanger is supposedly a better unit, but for almost twice the cost, so I'd suggest getting this one if you're new to flangers.

It is very simple to get a wide variety of sounds from the BF-2. As soon as I puchased it, I took it home and tried it out. It only took me one afternoon to figure out how to change it's effects properly. Not sure about the manual and editing patches. Don't know about it's numbers.

I am using a Hamer-Pacer "Slammer" (Long name, eh?) and a 30 watt Crate GX-15. It's a generally peacful pedal when you play it on a clean channel. The effects are rich in the BF-2. I've heard a phaser and a flanger, and the phaser is too dry. Flanger is more rich and colorful in it's sounds. I can use this pedal for a lot of songs that use it, too. With the Goo Goo Doll's "Bullet Proof", I can get the high piched ringy sound at the beginning with this pedal used on anther distortion pedal. You can get many other pedal effects out of this one pedal! You can achieve CHORUS, a high frequency ringing metal sound, and airplane phasing effects. This is a very good pedal.

Boss pedals in my opinion are very dependable. They are small, compact, and they aren't ugly looking either! Unlike other guitar pedals! They look too "CUTE" to step on! I am not sure what a gig is, all I know is that I love to play guitar!

I play all types of rock. This is a very good pedal for almost ALL types of music! I've been playing for over a year. I use Crate Amps and Boss Pedals. If it was stolen or lost, I would definitely buy another! I love the fact that it has an "INDUSTRIAL" look to it, and it's small compact size and shape. Other pedals are too shiny and round and have too much "cute" garbage on it. Boss is just pure SIMPLE! Nice color to the Flanger, too! I can't think of anything about it that I hate. I compared it to Ibanez, and I think that Boss sounded alot better than the Ibanez. It helped me very much to make a wide variety of sounds in my playing. The Boss BF-2 Flanger was my first pedal and it is my favorite! It goes great with the Boss MT-2 Metal Zone.

You can get numerous great effects out of this baby. However, it takes some time and playing around. It would be nice to know exactly how each knob affected the sound - you can get a fair indication by playing around with it though.

The effect is great. I place it after my wah and distortion and it sounds cool. You can get that aeroplane passing overhead or Zakk Wylde chorus/flanging (the clean intro to Tomorrow on Ozzmosis). You can get alien noises, strange steel drum/sitar sounds - anything. My only complaints are these: 1) Sometimes, especially for the aeroplane whoosh, it would be nice to have a little less guitar and a more prominent flanging (this is not a major complaint - very minor in fact). 2) The major problem with this is that it gives a noticeable volume boost, especially with distortion. This is annoying if you want to have a distorted section with flanging, and then kick the flanger off, bring the second guitar in and cut sick. The volume boost makes stuff like this a bit harder to pull off, and it generally spoils an otherwise awesome pedal.

I have no clue about the reliablity of this pedal, however if other reviews are any indication, Boss pedals are indestructible. Warning: EATS BATTERIES! I unplugged it everytime I used it and it died pretty quickly. If you want to gig with it, make sure it has fresh batteries (keep a carton or two in the back of the car - I swear it just eats batteries)

This is a damn fine pedal. You can get a massive range of sounds out of it. It sounds great with other effects (try distortion and wah - fun!). The only fault is that screwy volume boost, and its tendency to devour batteries. I normally hate Boss pedals but this rocks.

It's insanely easy. toy around with it for a while, as it will give you vibrato and chorus type of sounds as well. the resonance control is a lot of fun to play with, but the manual control doesn't seem to make a big difference on the tone.

my main guitar is an epiphone sheraton II, which is a great guitar and i highly recommend it by the way. i run it into a fender princeton 112 plus. the effect is great, and can be used in a number of situations, but at times i wish it would stand out a little more. very quiet when turned off though and a great sweeping sound.

i play a very indie rock oasis type of thing and this pedal is invaluable for such things. it is brilliant. i absolutely love it. i actually only bought it to help me out on the ending of our live cover of champagne supernova cos i like to run a looping sound for about 30 seconds at the end, but i was baffled at the numerous situations it can be used in. great.
