Easy to get a great flanging sound out of the unit, but it can be a little difficult finding the exact setting you're listening for. The owners manual is useless. The knobs are pretty self explanatory and what isn't intuitive becomes apparent when you screw around with it.

No noise. Just supersonic spacey brilliance. The finest thickener since corn starch. Mix 10:00 manual, 12:00 depth, and 10:00 rate with a high-pile chorus unit and the sound will be so thick you'll need a shovel to get to your amp. You've got to add distortion or overdrive to get get the patented jet-plane roar/ rotating speaker effect. Keep the rate turned down if you want to be able to distinguish complex progressions, it can get a little flakey. I run synths into this unit also and I can't begin to describe how it fattens the sound. Ultra-analogue phase and whirr. The MXR pedal is the only stomp box that comes close to the sound and it's a lot harder to find them used for cheap.

I bought the pedal used, and it doesn't look so hot, but it's a rock. I know everybody talks about how it eats batteries, (they're right), but it doesn't use any more juice than any other decent pedal.

I've got two of these now and I plan on buying any more that I find for a reasonable price (read <$50US). Though if I were looking for a GREAT flange effect and I had a little more money, I'd shell out what it took to get a BF-2. If your unhappy with it, I'll take it off your hands.

This is an excellent pedal. Very flexible, very easy to get a good sound out of. The manual says to start out by putting all four knobs(manual, depth, rate, and resonance) in 12 o'clock position. That works out well. It offers a lot, so it can be difficult to find a good setting at times.

This pedal doesn't make too much noise, and that's with an AC adapter. This pedal has a very strong sound as mentioned in an earlier submission.
I played a DOD FX75B Stereo Flanger before buying this one. I have to say this one is definatly superior, and worth the extra money. You don't have to worry about getting an annoying clicking sound when the rate knob is set high, as you do with the DOD one. The only thind DOD has over BOSS on this one is stereo capability.
This pedal sounds great with my BOSS DS-1 Distortion

Not a concern with BOSS pedals. I don't know if this one eats batteries or not, since I have an AC adapter. I'd definatly use the pedal without a backup, but it's always good to have an extra battery.

This pedal is worthy of buying again. I wish it had stereo capability, but it isn't that important to me. Again, in my opinion, this pedal is superior to the DOD Flanger in both sound and construction.
This pedal will definatly add to your music.

No manual who needs one. This is my first effects pedal so I guess maybe I can be easilt impressed but this thing is awesome, I bought to get a flange effect to go with some Faith No More songs. Not the same as Billy uses, but the range of sounds is spooky freaks my cat right out. From just a simple nice Flang to wicked mayhem.

This thing is so heavy for the size I can really plant the foot on it and it feels really tough but it has an excellent feel you dont have to stomp on it but it is nice to know you can if you have to or might happen to. Make sure to get good batteries!

Buy this again and again. I love everything about the sounds, the feel nothing to hate about it. I tried one other flanger couldn;t remember what it was but it sicked in comparison. Still getting used to this baby and fitting the right sound in.

It is a very strong sounding pedal. On a low setting (everything at about 2) it kind of has the sound of a univibe

Pretty dependable, but eats batteries. I definately reccomend the AC adapter

I would probably not buy this flanger again just because it is so strong. It does have a nice sound, though, if strong is what you're looking for. The only flanger that I liked better was the ADA.

Very easy to use, the manual that came with it was somewhat helpful. But the pedal is not hard to figure out. It is a very clearly laid out pedal, with knobs that are not cryptically labeled (like the DOD buzz box). AN excellent value.

Overall, very good, it can go from a subtle chorus, to a 747 blasting overheard. Only it would be nice if it offered stereo flange, but over all, very flexible, and addicting.

ROCK SOLID, depend on it, all metal construction, and a a rugged stomp. Takes a beating!. The stomp is about the right tension, not too easy to turn on, but not too hard to shut off.

YES! Very good. A little on the expensive side (It lists for 149.00), but you can probably get it for 80-100 dollars US. Very addicting, and flexible. Not as expensive as the ADA FLANGER REISSUE, but a little on teh high side, but for the money it's a great value.

sounds good but the with the fourth knob turned 100% it sounds like a UFO. With First on 5%, second on 5%, third on 95% and fourth on 100% combined with distortion you can create heavey feedback.

No idea how the manual is, since I bought mine used... But overall, very easy to use. Even very tiny adjustments on any single knob produce immediately noticeable changes in the sound, in contrast to other pedals I've used (where you can tell the difference between full counter- and full clock-wise, but not in between very well...

A bit noisy, especially with AC. And in contrast to the other review of this pedal, I've found it to be quite a battery-sucker. But then again, I'm notoriously bad at remembering to unplug the input when I'm not using it. BUT: Otherwise, a fine pedal. Crank everything up and add distortion, and you've got a good thick-textured wall-of-sound going on, a la MBV or FSA; turn the man knob up, res down, give it a little depth, and you've got a relatively unobtrusive chorus effect. Typical flange whooshery is of course fine and good, if a big trebly with bridge pickups. But my favorite feature comes from cutting the depth, setting the man know at about 10 or 11 o'clock, and playing with res between midnight and 5 o'clock -- sort of a poor man's Marc Ribot sound...

I wouldn't part with it. I wish that _I_ had a noise suppressor, but it's not the fault of the box. Playing with single coils on a couple of extreme settings ("man" at full counter-clockwise) can sound like a room full of pissed-off electric eels. But even that noise isn't so undesirable all the time. I'm not into incredibly lush chorus or phasing -- and this unit simulates both just enough to make me happy. Just the range of effect -- from near-transparent to completely overwhelming -- beats hell out of most pedals I've tried.

It's fairly quiet. It ranges from a glassy, dreamy sound to the sound of a military aircraft landing on the stage. It works well for songs like Iron Maiden's Killers, Heart's Barracuda, and some modern grunge. It's flexible.

It's extremely reliable. A battery will last quite a long time, compared to BOSS's distortion pedals. It's built like a tank. Even though it was used, it has never failed me.

The only other Flanger that comes close is the MXR. If you're looking for a Flanger, you may want to check that one out, too. BOSS pedals are expensive new. I doubt I'll part with this one.
