It's a stomp box! Of course it's easy to use. But the beauty of this pedal is the ease with which you can get amazing sounds out of it. You simply can't make this thing sound bad. There's never been a chorus sound I wanted that I couldn't dial in instantly. Manual is worthless, but also completely unnecessary. Boss uses understandable names for the settings, unlike DOD pedals.

Sound Quality : 10
It's remarkably clean, amazingly quiet, even when the battery is running low. I use this pedal almost all the time. If I'm not tripping out to the swirling underwater gurgle I get when I crank it up, I use just a little bit and it ives me a super-clean, unbelievably smooth dreamy tone. I basically use this pedal to make my tone warmer and sweeter. At high gain I like to crank the depth and set the rate to about 1 and if the gain is high enough I can get this pedal to sound like a flanger (that you have to hear to believe). I play a Strat, so the last thing I stress about is my clean tone, but this pedal brings my tone to a new echelon.

Reliability : 10
I bought mine used, and it's in fantastic shape. Sometimes when I'm turning on the chorus and another pedal I actually stand on the CH-1 pedal and switch the distortion on with my other foot. No problems ever. I dropped it on pavement once, too. It's bad-ass.

Customer Support : 10
I like Boss. They'd help me if I ever needed it.

Overall Rating : 10
This pedal is the most important part of my guitar rig (and I play a Strat!). I would freak if I didn't have it. It's an amazingly good sounding pedal and I couldn't be happier with it. I would mortgage my testes to buy this thing again. I wish this pedal could reproduce itself so that everyone could have one. The world would be a beautiful place. Buy a CH-1 and you won't regret it. I even like the bitchin' baby blue case.

Simple, plug it in, turn it on. The knobs are self explanitory.

Sound Quality : 9
Sounds great. Not too noisy. The controls allow you to go from thin thick.

Reliability : 10
I think that BOSS has been making these awhile, so they're pretty well bulit.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had to call them.

Overall Rating : 10
For the price I paid, new, I think it's a high quality effect. It beats paying 3 times that amonut for a multi-processor, (for me any- way).

Ease of Use : 8
As with most pedels, it's easy to understand and operate.

Sound Quality : 4
I Found it to be pretty starile sounding chorus. It's better than a multi-effect box but not as warm as the CE 2.

Reliability : 10
As long as you keep a fresh battery in it. Duracel not Energizer because energizer bumps the high end too much.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I've never talked to Boss

Overall Rating : 4
It just sounds digital. I'd rather the warm smear of a CE 2...I sold it.

It's A Boss Pedal, 4 Knobs (Level, EQ, Depth, Rate) Press on it to turn it off and on. It's like any pedal, you guys know that :-)

Sound Quality : 10
This thing is awesome. When I'm just sitting down playing, I almost always play with it on. Great for finishing chords of songs. It also interacts well with other pedals. Works great with any distortion. Its real quiet, unlike some other chorus pedals I use. You can tweak the settings to get a good variety of sounds. I think its equal or better than the Boss Chorus Ensemble pedal, and is like 30 bucks cheaper too!

Reliability : 10
Yeh, you can depend on it. Just remember to turn it off or you'll be buying a 9-volt battery every day on the way to work. I suggest getting a power supply for it. They're available at any guitar store. A Power supply will save you money in the long run.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't needed to deal with it. Its a BOSS, they don't break unless not used properly.

Overall Rating : 10
Buy it again in a second. Love the pedal. Its better than the chorus in any multi-effects unit I've played. And come to think of it, any chorus pedal I've played. This thing rocks.

The simplicity of this pedal is outstanding. The four knobs offered for control of the effect are overall level, tone (a great addition in my opinion), speed, and depth. No hassles, no hangups. Plug in, plug out and tweak away.

Sound Quality : 10
My particular CH-1 is extremely quiet, and I bought it used from a friend (it's about a year old). I have heard some chorus units be noisy, especially if used in the effects loop of an amp, but I have a direct pedal-amp linkup and very minimal, if any noise, even in high gain situations (and you can't go much higher than the Metal Zone I use it with =)).
I keep the level of the effect at half, probably because I use chorus more to fatten the sound rather than make it something completely new. However, this pedal is capable of some severe signal modulation. When the depth and speed are cranked to max, it sounds like your guitar signal is being spun around underwater (great for that warbly, Larry LeLonde sound (see Primus, "My Name is Mud")). My personal setting (in use about 90 percent of the time) is: level at 12 o'clock, tone at 12, speed at 12, and depth full. The effect is noticeable, especially when used after a Metal Zone, but doesn't wipe out the characteristics of the effects that come before it (in my chain, from guitar to chorus pedal, it's Crybaby wah pedal, Boss Octave pedal, Boss Metal Zone, Boss Super Phaser).

Reliability : 10
This pedal is a Boss. That's enough reason to trust it, eh? Like all pedals though, I recommend using an AC adapter or taking my route and getting the PSM-5 power supply/master switch. It's great to keep the battery companies in business, but I'd want 100 percent effect 100 percent of the time from my pedals.

Customer Support : 10
Once again, I'll give Boss the "incredibly kind and helpful" rating. I don't think this company has a customer service department ... I know they'd be nice folks though. I just have a feeling.

Overall Rating : 10
I've tried a lot of chorus pedals, had several different rack units and even tried going without the effect for a while. This is, without question, the best chorus effect I have heard in a pedal. There are more dramatic choruses, ones with more knobs and bells and whistles, but this is the real deal. It goes from subtle to full-blown with a quick twist of a knob, every sound you could be looking for is guaranteed to be found within a few minutes of playing with it. Kill if you must to get this pedal.

Ease of Use : 10
It's very easy to get a great sound out of this pedal. I use 2 power amps and this pedal sounds amazing because it has stereo outputs and the chorus surrounds the room if 2 seperate speaker cabs are used.

Sound Quality : 8
the sound quality is very good, the effect level must stay all the way up to keep a consistent sound level though. the chorus sounds great with distortion, espacially when used on a power amp with channel switching.

Reliability : 10
Very reliable, i've used it at every gig. Just remember to unplug the input cable when you're done because it'll eat the battery for lunch, but that's the same for any pedal.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I haven't had to deal with the company yet.

Overall Rating : 10
I would buy this pedal again if I had to. I prefer the build quality of boss pedals to DOD or Ibanez. The stereo outs help link multiple amps and provide killer stereo sounds. This combined with a channel amp are the only effects I've been using for 2 years and I haven't run out of sounds when mixing it with my amp's built-in reverb.

Very easy to use, simple and to the point.

Sound Quality : 10
This sounds great when running it through a DS-1 in my opinion. It's very clean and crisp with nice highs and lows. The Flanging effect adds alot to rhythms and leads.

Reliability : 10
It's a Boss, and I've never had a problem with one yet.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had a problem so I don't know.

Overall Rating : 10
It's a simple yet complex chorus pedal and compared to DOD Ice Box and other chorus pedals, I think it's great. It's kind of expensive but well worth the money because it's a boss.
