very easy to use. have found it really helpful for tuning acoustic and electric instruments off-stage. Very easy to find your note and tune the string to an almost perfect pitch. Very good for standard tuning, or even e flat tuning, but you can't do much else from there. It tunes basses as well which is a big plus, my whole band uses it to tune before shows.

Sound Quality : No Opinion

Reliability : 10
one of the most reliable units i own, i have had it since about '98 and it still works in perfect condition. i've never had a problem with it once

Customer Support : No Opinion
didn't ever have to deal with boss, although i am sure they are lovely people (lol)

Overall a great tuner, but it is a bit restricting because it isn't chromatic. Could not really be used on stage, but a very accurate tuner that i use to tune up before shows. My friend borrowed it for his band, and they were using it to tune trumpets and saxaphones and double bass as well, so it is a pretty versatile tuner. i would reccommend it to anyone who can still find one!

Very easy to use. I've had this thing for I guess 3 years or so now (?) It's great bang for the buck - not too expensive.

It's not as nice as the needle based tuners, especially when you are setting intonation. But for tuning, it's close enough for rock and roll. In fact for tuning it has been just as good as my old analog needle based read out. No complaints which is contrary to my expectations before using it.

The best thing is that it A) is not chromatic, it just does the 6 guitar notes, B) is automatic so you can use it on stage and not worry about bending down to click through 6 settings, and C) is LED based for max visibility.

However as others have said - if it's bright out it's not easy to read. Oh, and D) is that it has an E flat setting. This is great as I just started playing with a band that tunes to E flat. I can just set it up after the A/B switch, run a power supply to it and leave it on flat and use an A/B to mute and tune, if necessary. I used to be a locking tuner nut but my Tele and Les Paul Special are staying as is now that I use this.

Easy to use and basic in function. The more expensive ones get too confusing (and, well, expensive). I don't need to read C or F or Bb on my guitar, just the open strings in standard and flat tuning please.

It's small and seems made to be sneaked onto a pedal board without taking much space. Pedal boards are stupid but I admit that I am putting one together but it only holds two pedals, plus an A/B, plus a tuner, plus a power supply, plus a Mayer Crossroads to run a clean signal and ground to two amps. I can't imagine having a more complicated setup, but I've seen boards out there with 15 pedals on them.

It's too bad these were discontinued, I just bought another one old stock as a backup / and to have one attached to my tiny little pedal board at all times.

Don't put this in series with your guitar. It's not true bypass and it will weaken your signal. Use an A/B switch to mute and run into it if you need to use it on stage.

Seems solid and hasn't failed me yet after I guess 3 or 4 years. My old tuner started flaking out after about 7 years. I put my fist through it one day, smashed it to pieces into the carpet. I regreted that, it was a birthday gift from my mom when I turned 17.

I reckon I don't know nuthin' bout Roland USA. I do like 'em french fried potaters. I read the manual. I don't understand all of it, but I reckon I understand a good deal of it. Coffee makes me nervous when I drink it. Some folks call it a sling blade, I call it a kaiser blade. Mmm.

I play blues based classic ghetto hip hop funk rock appalachian electrified folk classical chamber baroque urban youth electronica bluegrass with lots of analog keyboards. Been playing it for 11 years. Don't wish this tuner had anything else, it's minimalist in a good way and costs about as much as I want to spend on a tuner.

It's pretty easy to use (just plug your guitar in and play the note).

I found the easiest way to tune the guitars (and bass guitars) with this tuner, is to use the guitar's harmonics at the 12th fret. Turn the volume all the way up and use the neck picup with the tone knob off (turn it to "0" or when it sounds muffled) then play the "chime" harmonic at the 12th fret.

Sound Quality : 10
This tuner doesn't affect your sound at all.

I use my tuner through a custom effects loop pedal (Loooper).

Reliability : 10
I've had this tuner for about 5 years and it's held up really well.

I've never had to deal with Boss.

This is a neally nice tuner to have if you can't afford the more expensive tuners.

The tuner works good on dark stages (due to the bright LED lights) but this tuner isn't that good to use when your playing outdoors (because sometimes you can't see the LEDs because of too much sunlight ... so you need to have the tuner in the shade).

When I do use this tuner through an effects loop I keep it turned off and only turn it on when I need to tune.

I use it for my bass and it doesn't hold on the the low E very well and it jups from sharp to flat without me turning any knobs. It's better on the D and G strings.

Sound Quality : 10
I use it through an FX loop and it doesn't mess w/ the signal at all, sounds fine.

Reliability : 7
I couldn't use this gigging. It's cheap plastic and i'd probably end up stepping on it and breaking it. Altough at home and during studio times it would be good.

Overall Rating : 8
Ok tuner, if it was lost or stolen i'd probably look into getting a better BOSS tuner but this is fine for now.
