Same 3 "easy-as-pie" parameters: delay time, feedback, and level. Also has a fourth "mode" knob that adjusts the delay time range or put's the unit into "hold" (infinite repeat) mode. I gave it an eight because while in the "hold" mode you have to keep the switch depressed for it to work and so you basically have to keep standing on the thing. It would be nicer if the "hold" feature could be switched in and out like the regular effect allowing you to move around. Otherwise it has enough delay time and for any straight "echo" effect you can imagine. Besides, anything over 800ms and your getting into bizzaro land and not really playing guitar are you?

Sound Quality : 10
Well, what can I say, (digital) delay is delay is delay is delay, and this pedal does exactly that w/o any coloration or noise. Great for live work. Probably wouldn't use it in the stusio as (like all inexpensive pedal type delays) it has a limited bandwidth - in this case 7kHz. Otherwise I'm not going to propagate any urban myths or rely on subjective experiences here. Basically it does what it says it does. If you have two different units and set the parameters exactly the same they will sound exactly the same - period. This can be easily proven w/ an oscilloscope. So unless your box's DSP chip suddenly forgets how to add and subtract two numbers or copy one value to another then all the hoopla about one box sounding different is simply the stuff those all night, 2 bottles of Jim Beam, "guitar tone" arguments are made of.

Reliability : 10
I've never had any problems w/ any Boss pedals.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had to use them (pray I don't as I find 99% of all reatil cust. svc. to be abysmal!!!!). I'd sooner fork out another $100 bucks than deal w/ reatil CSR's.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
Overall a great live delay unit. Great sound, no noise, extremely rugged (this is important as the #1 problem w/ gigging is broken equipment), and inexpensive. Buy two and switch between two settings instantly!!!!

This thing has a bit of a learning curve and isn't quite so easy to mess with as the Memory Man, but I can't really place my finger on why. It works well nonetheless.

Sound Quality : 8
This thing soars at longer settings. At 800ms, with the level all the way up and both knobs set somewhere near the middle, this thing is absolutely stunning for playing The Edge (U2) style delay rythm parts, and turn the time to about 2-4 a clock with the feedback in the middle on 800ms and it's a brilliant atmospheric effect.
I'm not too terribly impressed with the sounds below 800ms, but they don't really suit my style anyway.
It works very well with effects, I run my '93 Mexican Strat -> Boss BD-2 -> BOSS CE-5 -> Boss PH-2 -> Boss OD-2R -> Boss DD-3 -> Rocktek EQ -> Morley Wah-Volume -> Fender amplifier and with every effect it sounds beautiful. However, if you play it clean it doesn't seem to keep the warm, analogue sound of my preferred pedal, the Memory Man.
It's second best though, by far.

Reliability : 9
I can generally depend on it, the battery input stopped working but that's because a roadie dropped an amp on it =(
But it like every other BOSS pedal is brilliantly constructed and it's unlikely for it to break under normal circumstances, and I wouldn't need a backup.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 8
I play a very atmospheric wall-of-sound style, and when I'm using effects to match (which I often do), this is my delay pedal. If I'm playing clean or doing U2 covers or a more laid back delay timing(both not too incredibly often, but sometimes), I use the Memory Man. Simple as that.
This an good delay pedal, and I'd probably buy it again. despite it's somewhat digitized sound when played clean.

This pedal is very easy to use, you just twist the knobs. It's very easy to get a good sound out of it. As a matter of fact it has many good sounds

Sound Quality : 10
This is the best delay I have heard for guitar. I was told by two pros that to get a better delay, you have to go to a rack unit, which is not an option for me. I have never heard the DD-5, or whatever Boss's newer delay is called, and when I bought this, the DD-5 was not out yet. It is not noisy. I have used it with a Crate amp and a Mesa-Boogie. It doesn't change your sound, it just adds the delay. When you are playing through a good amp, like a Marshall or a Fender or a Mesa-Boogie, you do not want your original sound to change. This is a hundred times better than any multi-effect unit. If you can't stand effects and what they do to your sound, you will still like this pedal. In my opinion, this could be your only effect pedal, and you could do pretty well with it. Once you have achieved a good clean or distorted sound, you can use this pedal to get many sounds and still keep the tone you love. I use a little delay for rockabily or surf, or more delay for a high-gain solo or dramatic effect. There's also a lot of in between stuff, because you have the knobs. Also, It's great for a doubling effect to fatten up your sound, but not like a chorus. I think chorus is great for a clean sound, but I have never found one that didn't totally kill my distorted tone. So, if you need an effect for a great distorted tone to fatten it up as well as other things, this is the only pedal that I have found that works. Also, it's more useful than a reverb, because reverb makes you sound like your playing in a tunnel when your drummer is playing right next to you, and he's not in a tunnel. This is the best delay pedal I have found and I believe it should be one's first choice for an effect unit. I rate it a ten, for a pedal.

Reliability : 10
I believe that everyone agrees that you cant kill a Boss pedal.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I never needed to contact Boss, so I have no opinion.

Overall Rating : 10
I don't remember the price I paid for this, but it was probably $120, and that was back in 1993. I think it was one of the most expensive pedals to buy. I've been playing about 9 years. I own a Jackson soloist, an Ibanez GAX70, a couple of acoustics, a Mesa amp, a Crate amp, , a Boss Metal Zone pedal, a Tube Screamer, a Zoom 505, a Korg Pandora PX-3, and a DD-3. All the gear above is used for messing around and for practice, except the Jackson, the Mesa, the Tube screamer and the DD-3 delay. Ultimately I just like the Jackson plugged into the Mesa, but for extra gain and pick attack I need to bump up the front end with the Tube screamer, it affects the tone a little but that trick was taught to me by a pro and it sounds way better than the Metal Zone. Also, I run the DD-3 in the effects loop after the distortion and add the amount and type of delay I need and it sounds awesome. I could get by with just the delay if a had an amp with more gain. I believe you should use the absolute minimum amount of effects possible, and this is all I need. Maybe I'll find a chorus pedal one day that doesn't kill my tone. If I do, I'll let you know.

Ease of Use : 9
Simple, yet As noted the "Hold" effect takes a little practice.
It does guzzle batteries but what can you expect?

Sound Quality : 10
Clean vivid echo or reverberation. I use it for vocals, sometimes hooked to a Ring Modulator, and or a Dan-echo. In my opinion DD-3 is of a standard by which other delay-boxes are measured. I have used this in studio to the whining chagrin of engineers who tell me they can do as good with their board effects, untrue! When gigging I use two mics, one damp the other wet. I often use my own Sure SM-56 or SM-57 mics. Most often I'm going through a PA system, sometimes, when no PA is available, I go through guitar or bass amps. of assorted sizes and qualities. If something sounds bad I can bet it's either the amp or me ... or maybe my DD-3 is low on battery juice.

Reliability : 10
Solid! I bought mine in 1987, it's still holding up strong dispite some minor probs with the pedal-spring and knobs.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with BOSS.

Overall Rating : 9
I perform a wide variety styles. What I do could maybe be classified as someplace between Tom Waits and Yoko Ono. Currently I have a collection of 10 different effects boxes which I dole out to the guys in my band before our performances they mix and match with their own stomps ... we never have any idea what we'll sound like. We improvise alot and the DD-3 gives me an electronic edge ... I can hold my DD-3 wet mic to the trumpeters bell, the guitar or bass amp or even to a symbol or drum this adds a peculiar depth. I'd buy it again ...
in fact I think I'll pick up another one soon ... maybe get a DD-5 too.

Four knobs, well labeled. if you can't figure it out you shouldn't be allowed to drive a car.

Sound Quality : 9
Great sound quality, well worth the money for this pedal (It's a shame that Boss discontinued it). It's much better than the DD-5 in my opinion (cheaper too). using a mixture of amps (Peavey Classics and Crate Flexwaves) the delay sounds like a good digital delay should. The ability to control the volume of the repeats is esecially nice.

Reliability : 9
BOSS= Built of Solid Steel. no problems here. My only gripe is that the knobs have gotten a little loose w/ age.

Ease of Use : 10
If you've ever used delay before, this is a no brainer. If you haven't had a lot of experience with a delay, it still is simple to figure out.

Sound Quality : 10
Excellent sound quality with no added noise to the signal chain. While the delay is digital, it still sounds warm (not as fuzzy as a Memory Man) and clean. I'm using mine through the front of a Peavey Ecoustic 112 with other Boss pedals (Octave, Auto Wah, OS-2 OD/Dist, and a DD-5) and my modulation effects (Lexican MPX 100 and Vortex and TC Electronic M-One and D-Two) are routed through the loop. I use the DD-3 specifically for a SITAR-LIKE effect so it's not my main delay. Still I'd use it as the main delay if I didn't have anything better. The DD-5 I use for the reverse delay. To get a pretty good sitar effect, do this: Mode on short, (<50ms); Delay Time around 10 o'clock (experiment to get it exactly, maybe even a little before 10 o'clock); Feedback at max; and effect level at 3 o'clock or higher. The tone is slightly metalic so keep anything that boosts your signal off while using the DD-3 for this. In the right places it's a very cool and trippy drone effect.

Reliability : 10
Yes. The main reason to buy a Boss is because of how well it's built.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with 'em.

Overall Rating : 10
I love the sitar-like effect I get with it. I've used a plethora of gear in the 20+ years I've been playing and it's the only non-synth effect I've found that gets that type of sound. Even if I were only using it as a basic delay, I'd still keep it, even though I have other delays.

Its a boss so a monkey with one arm and two glass eyes could figure it out! In about 5 minutes i found the sound i was looking for, very pleased.

Sound Quality : 10
As soon as i plugged this puppy in i realised why is was so DAMN expensive... AMAZING delays! Ive been using the crap dealay found in my DOD Tech-4 multi effects... the BOSS is on a whole different level. The pedal can get you some real CRAZY sounds, try pumping the feedback all the way up, pluck a string and then turn the delay time knob back and forth. I havent found a use for the hold feature, oh well.

Reliability : 10
I know i wont break it, so no backup needed. I still treat it like my baby though... it cost sooo much, i dont want to scratch it.

Overall, ive learned that delay is the greatest effect for guitar. I play punk, rock, metal, alternative etc... It adds alot to my sound, especially clean parts. I would probabbly buy this again if it were stolen, id just have to cut down on other luxuries for a bit. Basically you get what you pay for here, if you want an expessive sounding delay, prepare to bust open your wallet. I give it 9 just because how can something sooo small cost so much!

It will take a while for you to get the right sound you want. I had to try combinations of every control on their and i found just the sound i wanted.

Four controls: E.LEVEL (volume of effect), F.BACK (how many times the effect is repeated before fading out), D.TIME (the length of delay) and a mode control (short, medium, long and hold). Hold mode repeats the sound infanatly (but you need to hold down the pedal for that).

Sound Quality : 10
I'm using my Strat copy > Wah > Jackhamemr > Delay > Carlsbro Amp.
I get such a nice sound out of this pedal. With mode switch on Long (800ms), D.TIME half way, F.BACK on about 11 o clock and E.LEVEL on 3/4 of the way and you pick a chord, you get a lovely sound of about 5 guitars playing the same thing at the same time. I dont know how i played without it. It sounds great.

Reliability : 10
I don't recon it will ever brake. It's a Boss!

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never delt with boss.

Overall Rating : 9
You can get so many different sounds out of this pedal.
For clean songs its nice to have a fairly long delay and pick the strings. But it's also really good if you're looking for some weird sounds too. I play Radiohead/korn/limp bizkit songs and you can get some great sounds for that style. Good for the begining to the new limp song (take a look around).

You can get a really funny weird sound if you turn E.LEVEL up just below full, F.BACK to anything, D.TIME right up to full and mode on HOLD. Then if you play a really high note on distortion and hold the pedal down just after, then gradually turn down the D.TIME control it sounds weird. Try it.
This pedal is a vital addition to my rig and i advise anyone into FX to get one (no, boss didn't pay me to say that).
Just a slight shame about the price but i suppose you've got to expect that from such a nice pedal.
If it were stolen i would cry for a bit then buy a new one. :)

If you have a delay sound in mind, then I think it's easy. And if not, oh well...

Sound Quality : 9
I think the delay sounds are great, I also use it as a 2 second sampler (mode #5). I used to use a Gorrilla GG-25 guitar amp for my Yamaha CS1X Synth, but now I have a Roland KC-300 (100 watts, excellent!) stereo amp. It sounds much better on the Roland, but I hook both up for the stereo pan, which sounds fantastic! I don't think it ruins the sound if you use distortion, I use it, and it sounds fine (Boss DS-1).

Reliability : 8
I would give this a 10, but it sucks battery power like there was no tommorrow. Once I miked it to my drum set and I almost fried the circuits. I thought, "Great Caesar's Ghost! I just broke a BOSS pedal and wasted $129! It didn't work for several days, and I haven't got a clue to what happened...Besides those problems, the pedal is pretty bloody strong!

Customer Support : 7
After the drum set incident, I immediately tried looking for a phone number for Roland in the DD-5 manual, but didn't see one. Their webpage isn't so hot either.

Overall Rating : 8
I play some classical, punk, techno, rock, and blues. Great for all the above. $129 is a awesome price! Anything around there is great also. I didn't try any others like the Danelectro delay, etc.

Pretty easy once you get the hang of it. At first you might find yourself lost as to what to do (the hold function wat pretty tricky at first), but you'll soon immerse yourself in the awesome sound that is "delay". Very good.

Sound Quality : 10
I play a limited edition epiphone les paul through a marshall valvestate vs230 with a dunlop hendrix wah, proco vintage rat, and of course this baby (make sure it's last in your setup). The sound i get out of this thing is INCREDIBLE! You can get the trippiest noises out of it. My band, Hueman, plays mostly avante garde funk fusion - real trippy shit. This is perfect, and it hasn't had all the cool bugs tweaked out of it like the DD-5 has. You can get really moody spaced out effects using the knobs in the midst of a delay it's awesome.

Pretty damned reliable so far. It isn't too old...so i won't talk out of my ass.

Again, no experience. I wont' talk out of my ass.

This thing is awesome. Whether you want a subtle echo to add to your solos, or an allout sound-fest of tripped up spacy riffs and licks, this baby is for you. If you don't mind spending the extra 100 dollars and losing out on all the hippie-esque noises you can get out of a delay, go ahead and buy the dd-5. You get a much longer delay time and that special tap tempo feature - personally, i tried them both. DD-3 kicks total ass.

Ease of Use : 8
This pedal is very easy to use once you sit down with it. Don't be threatened by the little numbers everywhere - they'll make sense after a few experiments. The manual works well, but a few 'example' settings would've been helpful. The E. Level knob just determines how loud the repeated sounds will be.

Sound Quality : 8
I am basically operating in a very primitive state. I play a Jay Turser TS-335 through a Tube Screamer, Dunlop Crybaby then the DD-3. All this is connected into a small Ibanez bass practice amp that I only use with headphones because of the neighbors. There is very little noise with this unit, if any. Very clean. But here's the deal - this is a fantastic delay pedal IF THAT'S WHAT YOU ARE LOOKING FOR. It produces a crystal clear delay that can start to sound mechanical and cold if you're not careful. It's almost too pristine for me. I recommend it highly, but it's just not my personal taste. I was really looking for a warm reverb sound and thought a subtle delay would help enhance that. But this SOUNDS like a delay, not a gentle echo/reverb like I'm looking for. Test it extensively before you take the plunge...

Reliability : No Opinion
Can you say 'BOSS'???

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 8
I like Hendrix/SRV/KWS, and this just doesn't it do it for me. I'm also leaning into the jazz arena, and this is just to cold for me. It's EXCELLENT, but just not what I'm looking for. I've been playing for 2-1/2 years, but have 20 years of trumpet and 3 years of percussion. I like things more subtle than what this provides. I love its wide range of delay features, and I think it could better support someone who is interested in the U2 genre or something more effects oriented, where it's clearly obvious you're playing through an effect pedal.

I'm looking now into the new Danelecto Corned Beef reverb. I'm fairly certain that this will provide the sound I'm after...

I play a mexican stratocaster into a crybaby, then a tubescreamer, then the delay, sounds great, i find that the two shorter delay times sound a little metallic, but the long delay time is awesome, i would recommend using this mode exclusively, if you want short delay, get an analog or a reverb pedal.

Its easy after you play with it for a while. Delay pedals kind of seem over whelming at first, but after you tinker with them you get the hang of it pretty easily. 4 knobs (level, feedback, delay time, and a mode knob with 4 modes). The manual is good at explaining what the knobs do but for the most part your on your own.

Sound Quality : 10
a 10 is definitly appropriate for this particular stompbox. Its not noisey at all and sounds very very nice. It doesn't sound artificial and is warm sounding. Do NOT expect good sound without a fresh battery. It will sound like shit as will other delays like the dd-5. I use it with a 15 watt rage amp and a fender 50's strat and have many pedals including EH big muff and small stone, boss tr-2, ds-1, ch-1, blah blah blah. It sounds great with my crybaby wah. I can get really nice doubles, slapback sounds (floyd-type: the wall), a sitar sound, and nice echos.

Reliability : 10
no problems as long as i don't put the input cable into the direct out by accident!

i play many styles of music and its a great match for any style. Grunge, to classic rock, to metal, to blindmelon! It works great for anything just as long as you use it sparingly and appropriately (duh). Its to bad the hold feature has to be constantly held down to work. but maybe thats a good thing. Oh and the other thing that i wih it had is to have the delay finish when you shut it off. It tends to cut the delayed sound right out. But it is so beautifuly warm and crystal clear sounding that it is worth it. And i think its better than the dd-5.

The best delay pedal I've ever used. Don't let the "digital" in the name scare you off - very easy to get a good sound out of it! Just set the dealy time of repeats and off you go. The phrase samplet is useless.

Sound Quality : 10
I use it with a Les Paul copy through a Marshal Valvestate amp. My setup goes guitar -> Crybaby -> Boss SD-1 -> effects loop -> Tremolo -> DOD Phaser -> Boss Chorus -> BOSS DD-3. Hey that's a lot of stuff! Well it's not noisy on it's own. Mind you if you have any noise in your effects chain it's going to echo it. The DD-3 makes very good echoes - even though it's digital the echoes are not overtly "metallic" sounding. True the echoes are carbon copies of each other, but the do sound very realistic - plus the added delay times are worth going to digital (as opposed to analog). Anyway, this thing is very Pink Floydish.

It's a BOSS - what more do you want?

On the same token - it's BOSS - I hear it's like trying to reach China using two tin cans and a string.

Overall Rating : 10
Like I said the best delay pedal around. Much better sounding than the DD-5. Plus all those added features such as 2 sec. delay time - (who uses 2 sec. of delay?) and reverse playback are eliminated, so it costs much less.

Mine didn't have a manual cause it was used, but I just went home and noodled with it and got what I wantd out of it.

Sound Quality : 10
Great, not analog or a nice rack unit, but it sounds great for what I needed.Really quiet.Played with lots of gain-type distorton it actually sounded better that when I used the same settings and played clean with no distortion.Don't use any other effects so I don't know about where it fits in with other effects.

Reliability : No Opinion
Haven't hadda use it in a gig situation yet,so don't know about this one.

Never dealt with em,mine is used so I am probably on my own with it.

I play from death metal to fusion to blues and some classical, been at it for 30 years and have had so many different rig lineups in those years...would prob buy it new if it was stolen or lost...I only compared it to the Zoom 505 the day i got it at the store and the Zoom was so noisy...may try to see what the DD-5 is like...it definitely adds to solos and kinda acts as a doubler in the background when I am power riffing heavy chords...love the little guy!!!

I have been playin 22 years. This is my favorite delay pedal. I use a Marshall JCM 900 with 1936 cabs. I play a Gibson Les Paul Standard.

This to me is best delay on the market. It is just good old fashion delay. I've had the Boss RV-3/DD-5 and a Ibanez AD-9. Also a Alesis Midiverb. I don't need all the reverse modes and tempo slapbacks. I just need a basic delay with quality. This is it. Take my word buy one and keep it.

Easy to get basic but subtle chorus sounds quickly. Manual is adequate--from 1988 so things were less enlightened back then. Plug and play essentially.

Sound Quality : 9
Very subtle - the main distinction is that you get to shape the tone with the eq knob. I use it in a chain with other choruses and delays --when I engage it with the eq set high, you get another dose of chorus with high end sparkle that adds a new contour to your tone. It always goes stereo to my Trace Elliot Velocettes and guitars are a Hamer Eclipse 12 string and PRS Custom 22 and Dano DC. Subtle is the key word here; and it can be too frosty sounding--which is right for some of our material but not all--that's why it's one of several chorus choices in the chain. It also is nice to get the airy dimesion effect sometimes without the obviousness of other choruses--this model will deliver that for you.

Reliability : 9
Highly reliable. It's been discontinued--why I don't know. I have no duplicate other than the EH Polychorus and several DODs--but they're not the same. I gig with it all the time sans fear.

Customer Support : 1
Boss is like trying to talk to the Kremlin. Would not even try. Their useless website speaks volumes about how much they care about customers.

Overall Rating : 10
This was old stock that was blown out at a killer deal--I don't expect to repeat that soon. It is a big part of my swirl of modulation effects with my band Flume. Again, I use it as an accent for bridges or portions of a song and rely on other pedals for the consistent bed of thick custard chorus--adding this in, esp. with the 12 string gives more shine to an already soupy sound. And the pepto-bismol pink color is something to behold. I am trying to get that Kitchens of Distinction-Cocteau Twins-And Also The Trees sound without a stupid NASA rack. This pedal is a big help in getting partially there.

Can be hard, but fairly easy once you get used to it. The Hold function (though kind of stupid) is hard as hell to time right.

Sound Quality : 10
the pedal (at the end of my effects chain) reproduces exactly what I have played. I don't care about how processed it sounds, and how warm analog delay is because by the time it acually delays, my sound is already processed abunch.

Nothing will destroy it.

It's easy. effect level, feed back rate and delay time is the main knobs. delay time is adjusted parametricaly. Mode switch is a kind of D. time knob I can say. There is a 'hold' thing, you play the note and keep prenn the pedal. if you keep pressing the delay will last forever :].. its silly anyway, I never use it.

Sound Quality : 9
it's pretty clean...

Reliability : 10
cool...

I play in heavy sounds or clean tones but the pedal is suitable for every kind of music. You can get interesting sounds by maximizing the d.time.. really enjoyable pedal. Dont use it with batteries, they finish very quickly. I'm using it for 3 or 4 years, it works with no problem, its good. really good. oh, by the way if you use more than one pedal, this one must be used the last one before the signal goes to amplificator. if you try to distort the sound after the delay, it really messes up the tone. dont use it in a noise suppressor loop.

4 knobs (read the other reviews to find out what they are called).
3 of them deal with basic delay, but one setting, the hold function, has a really wierd twist to it. (read on)...
oh yeah, it is very easy to get a great sound out of it

Sound Quality : 10
i only bought this earlier today, but already i can see why it has gotten such good reviews here and elsewere.. a wide variety of delay sounds can be attained, from just a short room-style effect, to a long repeating synthesized effect.. but that's not all...
this pedal allows you to alter the pitch of the output signal, by using the 'hold' function... basically, you depress the pedal while playing something, and use the 'delay time' knob to vary the pitch up and down... it is quite hard to use, but sounds very very cool... sort of like synthesized techno or something...

Reliability : 9
just maybe......!
certainly i'd use the pedal without a backup, but i wouldn't use the battery without a backup...

i play anything really... i like hard rock sometimes, as well as soft overdrive and accoustic sounds too... this pedal is great for lead but can easily be used for chord work and short riffs... i tried mixing it with my bf-2 flanger, and i got some totally groovy sounds from it.. really wierd and earie sounds

Very easy to get a good sound of it. I mostly use the long delay mode. I use two reverb pedals instead of using the first two modes.
But still, very easy to use.

Sound Quality : 10
Several guitars make up my gig arsenal: 64' tele with humbuckers, 84 us strat with EMG pick up and a vintage TR-512 gibson bridge pick-up, Les paul standard with noiseless tele pick-up, el degas SRZ, PRS mccarty model and a rickenbacker "john lennon" style. I occasionnally use a Godin but only for sweet ballads. The DD-3 sounds incredible in all of them except for the el degas that my dad gave me when I was three years of age. It a noiseless pedal, like most other boss pedals I use. I run the pedal through the effect loop on my Fender twin amp (the direct output) and the output through my fender vibro lux for great stereo delay sounds. I tried it in my Mesa boogie and I don't get the sound I want. But you should try what ever makes you happy. This pedal is quite versatile too. I can get that rich "genesis" sound and the warm (Not as warm as my analog delay pedal though) "yes" delay as well.

Reliability : 10
Give me a break.

Does Boss need to offer any support at all???

(Think about this, seriously.)

Overall Rating : 10
My style of music varies a lot depending on the gig and the people I play with. It also depends on which guitar I play with. But I like to stick with country music and the DD-3 is a perfect match. I've been playing for 20 years now and I think the DD-3 is a fair replacement of my old echo-box ("One of these days"'s bass line is processed through an echo-box) my dad gave me when I was 6. I wish it had longer delay (2s) for pink floyd sounds (time) but I it's okay.

its fantastic to use
the feedback knob ,when turmed up all the way
is unbelievable. It goes on for ever
which is fantastic
i actually prefer this than the DD-5

i use the DD-3 mixed with an MXR digital delay rack mount from the 80's, i also add in a distortion DF-2 with the delay feedback knob
on full.
this gives the famous My Bloody Valentine droney sound from lovless.
it just sounds great, very etherpop. ie Windy and Carl.....

The delay is the strongest I have heard out of any delay pedal...but that;s what you should expect from a Boss.

It doesn't really go with the style of music I play. I like playing DMB stugg, and I bought it because Tim Reynolds uses one. Unfortunately, I can't play like Tim Reynolds.

The manual is paltry, but not much explanation is needed.

Sound Quality : 9
The sound on this unit is pretty clean, just don't put uo the feedback too high with any distortion or overdrive on. I use this pedal with a Yamaha Pacifica 212M and an Epiphone Sheraton II, with a Brownsville Choirboy 210 amp and Crate GX-15 practice amp. I got the pedal mainly to recreate sounds from the Stone Roses' albums and other '80's new wavers, but I was surprised at all it can do. Puttingthe feedback up and delay down creates some great Pink Floyd sounds, especially for these noise-melange songs like "Run Like Hell" and "Another Brick." The shorter delays are also great for playing newer Oasis and other Britrock songs. The reverb is pretty good, but I prefer spring reverb. I also love using this pedal with my BOSS BF-2 Flanger (with the DD-3 first in the chain)to create some wierd Suicide and darker Cars-ish overtones. The Hold function is no great shakes though-- it takes a while to get in sync with the chip for it to capture the sounds you want it to.

Reliability : 9
This is a BOSS pedal. I couldn't break it if I tried. It sucks up those 9-volts, though. Get an AC adapter to prevent any inopportune burnouts.

N/A. This will pedal will never die.

Overall Rating : 10
I like to play mostly guitar rock like the Stone Roses, R.E.M., and Oasis, but with lots of effects. I've been playing for a couple of years, so I'm no ace, but I mostly play rhythm, so my parts aren't that tricky. This pedal is a very useful in my bag of tricks, probably my most used effect. It's so versatile, and it can find a place in virtually any type of music played with an electric guitar. I play in a small Jewish music group, and I use this pedal alot to add textures to modern klezmer-type stuff. It's a real winner.

Four knobs 1. Effects Level 2. F. Back 3. Delay Time 4. Mode
It has a hold option that will hold a small section of signal and loop it infinitaley when you hold down the foot switch.. I still haven't gotten how it work exactly, but it's nice for ambient background loops...

No noise.
I really enjoy mixing digital sounds into my music, and this pedal can whip out some really interesting noise if you set the feedback all the way clockwise then mess with the Mode knob.. Try it with tremelo. You can get some realy nice techo sounds out of it.
