Easy to use i use it for three sounds, slap echo long echo and alien abductions. The trig in i havent fully worked out yet but 0.8 sec isnt that long anyways so not too worried about it

Sound Quality : 10
Good sound for a digital delay. Ive used dd-3's from jap in the past and think the dsd is warmer? i donno might just be my ears hearing something that aint there. I use it at long delay usually time 12 and effect 12 and feedback just a lil over a quart. Responds well too overdrives.

Reliability : 9

Using this pedal as a delay is straightforward, but I'm still not sure about rec/play mode for the sampler. I can record a sample in this mode, switch to play mode, and play it, but can find no way to play the sample in rec/play mode - you hold onto the switch and what you've played just fades away like it does in regular delay mode. Also, the pedal 'forgets' what you've sampled if you disconnect the power. So you can't load a sample at home (say something off a CD) then take it too the gig. Trigger in sounds promising, but I've got nothing to plug into it.

Very good. This unit is pretty much the same circuit as the DD-2 and early Japanese DD-3, which I've heard be described as 'analogue-sounding' digitals. If this unit is anything to go by, they're not. This pedal is much more faithful to the tone of your signal than an analogue delay - it retains most of the high end and the percussive sound of hitting the strings in the repeats. That said, I don't find it to be harsh/cold/sterile at all, and I was A/Bing it with a Maxon AD999 analogue delay. For single note 'rhythmic' delay effects I actually prefer this unit to the Maxon, which is a bit to "dull" to achieve this. But for chords, arpeggios and general ambiance when playing, this unit sounds a bit thin and clashes with the dry signal next to the Maxon, which blends with the dry signal much better and gives it more body.

This pedal looks to have been gigged and it's still holding up well. One of the most reliable brands in the business.

I picked up this unit on a whim just to see how it stacked up against my analogue delay, with the intention of selling the much more expensive analogue unit if they were sufficiently close. When paired with a real analogue delay, the differences are quite stark - there's no real overlap between them. If you're after analogue tone, get an analogue delay. That said, this unit is not sterile at all, and the additional high-end detail and percussive attack in the repeats could well appeal more to other people. It would have been a much more difficult decision if the Maxon AD999 didn't have 900ms of delay time. If it were limited to 300ms like most analogue units I might have gone with the DSD-3 (or at the very least have held onto both units).

This thing sounds Very good,About as good as a pedal from this eara can be. I first saw it in G.Player in 1984

I play Blues, SRV,JH,Stones, I have been trying to play since 1968.If it was lost I would try to get another,Now there going for $125.00+ on ebay. Sterio outputs would of been nice.A guy that I got this from, didn't even want it.He got a Programable delay pedal and gave this one to me.Its funny he never could change the program on that Fancy DDL.

It takes a couple of minutes to get the right type of delay and a bit of nob twisting to get the sampler going, but once you get that sorted it's quite elementry getting the sound you want.

Sound Quality : 9
I use the pedal with echo level mid, f.back at about 2 and time mid so i can change the pitch up or down and I use the pedal at 200ms so there isn't as much interference. If I use the sampler I wack everything to full. I'm using a 1964 Harmony H75 through a Marshall 8100 head and a torque MV-100 set to speaker. I also use a DS-1, SD-1 and a CE-3.

Reliability : 10
It's a BOSS tank! What more can a say.

If you can manage a DD-3 pedal, this is no sweat. Great sounding delays in minutes. And, with the aid of the instructions, figuring out the sampler mode was easy too. This little fella is a hoot to noodle with....

Sound Quality : 8
Being a digital delay, (AKA NOT ANALOG!) it is rather sharp sounding. But run an EQ ahead of it to compensate, and it rocks. The acoustic and electric axes both sound very cool. And the sampler, though a short sampler, is cool. Quiet pedal, with some great digital delay tones.

Reliability : 10
Yup.....
Boss=Tank

If you've got patience, Roland is there when you need them. Nothing but praise for their customer support. They build them right, and fix them right should they ever break....like that'll ever happen

Overall Rating : 10
I couldn't be any happier if I tried! A very cool delay pedal AND a very cool (although short) sampler in one box for $31.00! Listen, DD-3's go for $80-$100 bucks. You find one of these, bag it! You won't be sorry....
