its a footswitch, easy to use, except this one! how could they screw this up? click on switches the channel when pressed down, as it should be. to click off switches the channel on the release of the button. this is so wrong, who ever designed this has never played guitar or anything. because when you switch channels u want it to be as u step down on the beat, not step down on the beat and switch when you lift your foot.

to the engineers at boss. you should feel embarrassed

Sound Quality : No Opinion
im hearing a click when i change channels

Reliability : No Opinion
i dont like things i gotta use a screw driver for if i need to change the batteries in a pinch.

Customer Support : No Opinion
seems rugged as all other boss stuff is

Overall Rating : 1
it sucks i give it a 1. simple dont buy it, its not designed right, and the polarity switch has nothing to do with it!

its so great now i can change amp channels on '1 and my foot coming off the pedal' its a funky groove

I have the same problem with 2 clicks, what is worse is that the light is on for two clicks and off for two clicks. No, not a fault - I have a couple from different sources which do the same thing. polarity switching makes no difference.

Bought one new - no user info supplied at all.

Bought these to use with Roland VGA-7. They work well, but the double-click is frustrating. Does Boss have a solution to this? Their home page has no 'contact us ' section -may try the Roland site.

Try the FS-5U (Unlatched) That should solve your 2 click problem.

FS-5L- Ease of use ok, built sturdy enough. Looks ok. Should be something for 25-30 bucks.

Sound Quality : 7
I play acoustic guitars. Got this pedal go go with a new Roland AC-60 acoustic amp. (Which I think is killer) I use it to turn on and off the chorus effect on the amp. HOWEVER. I find you have to step on it TWICE to turn it on and TWICE to turn it off. Somewhat annoying as my brain pattern and foot is set for a single click to do that function. Almost think it would be easier to reach back and just push the chorus button on the amp. Perhaps will try the FS1 to see if that will work with one click.

Reliability : 8
Probably OK

Never used them. Never needed to either. Have bought a ton of Boss/Roland stuff.

Been playing long enough I guess. Think the price is a bit steep for a single-throw switch in a fancy box. Probably cost all of bucks to make in China of USA.

I question the last reviewer's input. Either he was using an FS-5U, a defective FS-5L, or NEITHER! Mine has no problems. Very easy: step on to engage, step on again to disengage. I had a problem the first time I used it with my DS-2, and then switching the polarity--which is the most difficult thing in the world to do--solved that!

Sound Quality : No Opinion
Doesn't affect sound at all.

Reliability : 10
The time it stopped working, I was afraid I'd bought a duper. Now, call me slow, but it had never occurred to me that batteries were powering the LCD light! So I opened the box and wah-lah--AA's! I changed 'em, and it's fine. I would use it without a backup.

See my review for the DS-2.

Overall Rating : 10
This switch is usable for a few of my applications. I have the DS-2 pedal which the switch changes distortions on, and the RDD-10 mini-rack, which the switch toggles on and off. Much more convenient live!

Yeah, the light is bright enough !!! Right, and that's about it. This fucking piece of shit ain't worth the fuel you spend for driving up to the shop, or the phonebill you pay for buying it on ebay. And there is one very tiny, yet, everso huge reason for this, and that is : NO, (quoting bolow) You CANNOT stomp it ! The reason is the following: You CAN turn it (being whatever device you got hooked) on, by pressing the switch down (assuming you use your foot), hence locking the latch. BUT it will not "unlatch", meaning, turnig off your device, by pressing down, but only by LIFTING your foot off the switch !!! How fucked is that ? So, talking practical: You flip on the built-in distortion of your preamp. Okay. Then comes the clean verse, you stomp, and nothing happens. Whoops, oh, yeah, lift the foot, oaky. Now THAT was tight playing ! Got the picture ?

DON'T BUY THIS FOOTSWITCH. DON'T EVEN ACCEPT IT FOR CHRISTMAS.

Sound Quality : 1
No sound involved. I did not notice any hum or similar. Whatever you want to modify with this - turn it ON before you start the song, and turn it OFF after you're finished. Don't even attempt to catch a beat with this one. Esp. if you're using "sane" Footswitches along with it.

Reliability : 1
Don't ever rely on this. It will stab you once you turn your back.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Not the topic of my complaint.

I think I already made my opinion clear enough. Don't get me wrong, I like BOSS. I like Roland. I like Edirol.

But this thing was born thru an asshole !!!

Not complicated at all, light is bright enough, comes with batteries (!) that will practically never die, and if it doesn't work right, change the polarity. If a footswitch doesn't get a 10, then it's got serious problems.

Sound Quality : No Opinion
I use this to turn on my OD-2R overdrive pedal also from boss, and this switch is really satisfying to use; you stomp on it, you get some change in your tone or whatever the switch is hooked up to. Connectors are good. There's no sound involved, so no rating.

Reliability : 10
This is well-built by Boss, I would gig without a backup.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had to deal with them, that's how it oughta be.

Overall Rating : 10
If you're smart, you can built one of these for peanuts. But I'm not smart and don't have the time, and this thing looks cool, and connects cleanly. So if you need a latching footswitch for anything at all, get this one.
