You've to read the manual thoroughly, but if you did, you'll have one of the best metal-pedals ever build. Most important feature is the parametric mid-shift/boost which allows to to get sounds from mid-dominated "into the face punch" to mid-less "ultra mean" which makes your teeth hurt.

If you play blues, stay away; if you play hard rock, use a tube screamer; but if you play metal, this unit is a must !!!

takes a bit of getting used to, but once you work out what all the knobs do, then it's pretty straigt forward

There's a bit of feed back on my guitar, but that's because I've got a shit squire stratocaster, with single coil pickups, I played it on my friends guitar with humbuckers, and it's pretty quiet. The distortion quality is excelent, with a wide range of settings.

reliable, it's a boss, say no more, I don't know how you'd go about breaking one of these things

This is a very good distortion pedal, it's many functions make it ideal for everyone. The sound quality is awesome, on almost all the settings, and the manual that they supply with it is very helpful for starting out. In my opinion the Heavy metal and hard rock are the best settings, but the rock and roll and brittish rock are pretty funny
