Hello. I have used it in 12 years every week. I have strugled a lot and come up with my own sounds. My ME 6 is some problem sometimes in the led card it don??t always funktion. I have to repare it bacause the cabel is making a move in the card an makes it not function. The manual I??ve got just a year ago and it??s sucks. Onley one sound is going to use instead of mine.

Sound Quality : 9
Sound quality is okej. I use i transistor top Vs 100 Marshall. It??s little noice but you can put the treeshhold on 4. then it??s okej. You must realy make some offer in time to find good sounds. I have done it in 12 years. Now I have it. One distorsion is good and flanger and delay. Of course is Equliser good to make the sound higher on other stomp pedal trouth the ME6.

Reliability : 10
Yes it??s okej. I have 2 more ME 6 just incase it will brake down. So useful is it.

Customer Support : 9
It??s okej.

I play covers in ballad rock and Iron Maiden and that stuff. I have a pedalboard with: Tu2 CS2 AC2 Ubermetal Line6 SD2 and a ME6. Love it because it??s so easy to use and I use ME6 delay chorus reverb flanger volume high solo to my stomppedals. My friend have problem to make a booster trough his Marshall 800 but I have no problem with this gear.

I have had this unit since 1995. Its very easy to use and very easy to edit patches. I play the Greek bouzouki and i had to do alot of editing so i had no troubles.

Sound Quality : 9
Everyone has a differen opinion and wants different things. I play the greek bouzouki, so im interested in clean sounds and using the e.q and the reverbs. I use a fender super reverb amp with it and it works excellent.

Reliability : 10
I have used so much and it has never let me down

I think its an excellent unit for what i want to use it for.

It is a very good peice of equipment if you want to get the SRV or maybe Steve Vai`s clean sound but don??t expect to much from the overdrive and also the noise suppresor can be a little bit extremist

Reliability : 10
I??ve been using it for the last 15 years!!! and it??s good as new

You have to use some other pedals to get an up-to-date sound. but if you play blues it is all you??ll ever need.

I bought this thing used without a manuel and it took me 5 minutes to sort it all out. The guy I bought it from has shown me a short demonstration of how it works and it was very easy.

Sound Quality : 7
I haven't bought it for the distortion because i've got a Boss MT-2 pedal. The other effects are pretty good. I like the delay most. The reverb effects sounds cheap when setting the time below 10 ore something. The delay ends not nice then (to fast). The equalizer overdrives when setting the low-level to high.
With good settings it sounds great but it has to be used with other 'loose' pedals like my MT-2 for the best sound.

Reliability : 9
I think the reliability is good. I havent got any problems yet. Boss is a very good mark which I've good experiences with. All the things they make are reliable. Most pedals are I think.

I'm playing Metal and thats the reason why I don't like the distortion (just to weak). I??ve got a 12-snare Yamaha western guitar which sounds great with the delay effects. In combination with my other pedals do I like it. The only thing thats bordering me is that the bypass-button is too small. When I want to play without the ME-6 can't I turn it off easy with my foot (I've to use my big toe :P). That problem is easy to solve by setting channel one witout any effects. It's a good machine, specially for the price I bought it fore.

Extremely easy to use, although you may need to modify a thing or two to suit your taste, overall very simple

Not great , I agree with some reviews that claim you will be bored easily. It took me a lot of time to find sounds I really felt comfortable playing with

Overall this is a good piece of kit although a bit dated. I still like it for some of the effects. It has inspired me as this was my first multi effect pedal 10 years ago. Anyway I bought it for 50 pounds from a second hand shop from bradford 10 years ago, If you come across it for sth like 30 pounds go for it

well, it did take quite a few time to get used to it...but once you get through this, you can be editing sounds just as cooking in a microwave! I downloaeded the manual from the Roland web site and it was VERY helpful.

Sound Quality : 9
Favourite artist's sounds? Since this is not a modern virtual-I-don't-know-what unit, you can taylor sounds of your own. The distortions are not the modern rectified ones that punky kids and shreder's clones expect, I recommend them to use a separate distortion stomp box as I do. My current rig is as follows: I plug either my Ibanez RG320, my cheap-o-caster or my beautiful Aria Pro II (see review) to a Dunlop CryBaby, then to a Boss MT2, then the Boss ME-6 and sometimes I add a volume pedal at the end of the chain before the solid state Marshall Lead 12 combo. It gets quite noisy if you don't handle the compression carefully when using theinternal distortions or if you abuse of the reverb. If you use external distortion it's a real reliable machine! And the clean sounds are amazing! I can spend hours tweaking for nice delays, warm reverbs and convincing flanger sounds (oh, yeah, if you sit down and work this unit out, you can get even contemporary sounds easily; just listen to your ears and use your head!). Let me tell you that I heard a guy of a classic rock cover band in a pub and he was pulling amazing sounds out of the ME-6, a strat and a Fender Twin amp...I realy believe good quality gear make the difference when you use this unit: I had a Marshall MG15RCD and the MT2 and the ME-6 sounded HORRIBLE; but when I got this little beast Marshall Lead 12 (a solid state combo from the 80's)things were SOOOOOOOO different...Overall, cool EQ, great modulation FX's and so-so distortions. Try this one with headphones, it will astonish you! And I use it for gigs and it's great because Ican swithch from rhythm to solo leads with its obvious volume increase and it hanldes that perfectly. I don't know what the people say, but if you are patient you can get great sound from it.

Reliability : 9
VERY reliable. Although I 've been using it for a year, it hasn't let me down...except from the power supply which broke down. Despite what they say, I use a generic power supply which matches specs and it works perfectly! And it looks great on stage!

Customer Support : 9
I downloaded the manual from the Roland web site whithin minutes.

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing for 6 years and this unit fits perfectly my music styles which are har rock, metal, rock and some blues; not for the distortions but for the liquid modulation, the nice EQ you can get, and the fact that you can store a lot of patches and use it as a series of stomp boxes. If it were lost or stolen I 'd buy another BOSS multiFX 'coz they are excellent quality. Compared to the Zoom 505II(which I traded for the ME-6 and paid NOTHING) the Zoom sounds cheesy compared to the Boss in terms of modulation. I wish it had pitch shifting...it helps with my music because I can use it live and it's easy to use.

Very well laid out functions, once you spend a few minutes with it it's very easy to edit.

Sound Quality : 6
I tried and tried and tried but I just could not get a good overdrive sound out of this unit, passable but very average.
The delay, chorus and reveb are very good though. The eq is good and the comp seems ok but I generally don't use compresors so I'm not a very good judge. After using a Rat and Od-1 for about 20 years the overdrives just don't stand up. So if your after a unit to run along side a good overdrive pedal go for it, otherwise I wouldn't recommend it.

Reliability : 8
Made from plastic but seems like it would last if taken care of.

I'm a working musician so I play many styles of music. I've been at it for about 20 years. I have a lot of gear but I usually use a tele or strat through a Fender 59 bassman or Vox ac-15. I borrowed this of a friend for a couple days to try out with the idea of having a simple unit where I could have a variety of patches to switch between but it didn't work out for me. I like the delay and chorus etc but hate the overdrive and distortion. Some of you do and may like the me-6 but it's not for me.

Very easy!!! Everything is clear, there are a few controls to edit a LOT of items.... so... just have 5 min with it and you will discover how to setup it by yourself. But it is a multieffect... it isn't that paradise of control potenciometers like in separate units...

Sound Quality : 7
Wow... is very common to find bad comments about this unit... specially when they come from little boys who need hard distortions...
But i have a different vision about this unit.
I plugged a 78 vintage Les Paul (mahogany) in a Fender Amp... It's sounds very fine... The clean effects are very good! Chorus is very nice, and with the compressor i could reach an excelent 'poping' and 'bright' sound with the guitar... Excelent for jazz.
The distortion... well, if you play something before the 80's, you can use the presets... If you want to play some heavy metal with high harmonics you have to work hard on it... You have the Pre equalized distortion... So, you can edit the color of you distortion equalizing it... Wow, since i've bought this unit, i'm still editing my PreEQ distortions... But i have nice ones today...
Another good point: the low drive, is very nice! You can get an vintage drive very similar to the blues OD used in the latest 60 or during the 70... Something like David Gilmour... Or something like Scott Henderson today... Very nice!!!!

Reliability : 9

Can you make it easier? This layout is like having some stompboxes on the floor. The manual is excellent too. There are some parameters that you won't find on todays multieffects - like adjustable predelay on the chorus. This means you don't have to sound like everyone else.

Sound Quality : 8
I really like this gadget. When it came around it was very unusual to have both delay and reverb at the same time. (My KORG AX 100G still can't do this..) The ME-6 sounds good. What I miss are more modulation effects (just chorus/flanger available). It would also be nice to have one semidistorted sound. The ME-6 covers clean and full distortion sounds but nothing in between. Remember that it was made long before digital tube-simulation became popular. I have used it in all different situations. In front of clean amps, dirty amps, PA.s, through FX-loops. It does them all!

Reliability : 7
Since I from time to time don't mess with the patches, the microswitches stops working. If you tap them for a while they get going again. The ME-6 has never failed me in a live situation. It's a workhorse! I have never brought a backup.

Customer Support : No Opinion
No idea. The manual is excellent so i didn't need to bother. That's what I call customer support!

Overall Rating : 8
I have used this unit from the day i bought it 1993 up til today. It still works great. Sound good and works all the time! I got a KORG 100G. It sucked so I use it in front of my ME-6.

It's really very easy to use. At about 2 minutes you can edit your own patches (with no manual).

Sound Quality : 10
People used to say it sounds bad (distortions mainly), but you have to consider that to get THE SOUND you should have a decent guitar and amp, of course. Cheap guitars and amps will produce a cheap sound, Am I right?
This machine rocks...overdrive and distortions are decent, effects are really warm, delay and reverb great, and the noise supressor really works fine. By the way, it's an analogue sound, not emulation! If you want to create your own sound signature, that's for you.

Reliability : 10
Built to live forever! It's a 90' pedal and works fine till now. It's BOSS.

Never needed.

I play brazilian music, rock, jazz, funk, blues. As you can see this baby can cover any style. I've been playing for 10 years and if it was stolen I could buy another one for sure, but it's not easy to find.
Run away from emulations pedalboards, it will never be the real amp sound even with a POD.
