This pedal rocks. It's really easy to use. It's got the Level button, Distortion, and 4 eq knobs. The controls are pretty sensitive like the level. I have to keep it almost at minimum or else it'll be super loud. It's pretty easy to get different sounds out of it since it has 4 eq knobs.

Sound Quality : 10
The distortion is the best. It's got a lot of sustain and the eq section lets you control the sound a lot. And the distortion is just amazing.

Reliability : 10
I've only had if for about a month and nothing's happened to it yet so i wouldn't really know. Otherwise, it's made of steel and the I doubt the knobs will fall off or something.

Customer Support : No Opinion
never had to deal with them.

Overall Rating : 10
If I didn't have it, I would definitely buy it.

A bit daunting at first...the sample settings are heaps handy to get you started. Afterwards, it's just a matter of plugging in and KILL!!!

Sound Quality : 9
The distortion is pretty fierce...much better than the other Boss distortion pedals I tried (HM-3, etc.). Pretty good versatility for a so-called strictly metal pedal. Pushed to the extreme, it can kill small animals!

Reliability : 10
It's a Boss - built like a tank.

Overall, a damm fine distortion pedal. If anyone wants to compare ideas, don't hesitate to e-mail me.

It's great. Kind of hard to get used to in the beginning (6 different knobs to adjust) but the manual has quite a few different prestets for you to try out. it truly kicks ass. The only downside is without the manual I might get lost in all those knobs

Sound Quality : 10
I was expecting it to get really buzzy with high distortion levels, as do most distortion modules, but seriously this one kept quiet all the way to the top. I play mostly metal / hard rock and this pedal is so perfect, definitely worth the $90 I paid for it.

Reliability : 10
very reliable to me. Not much to it, just a little box that could probably stop a bullet.. nice hard metal. its a pretty simple gadget inside do I dont think much could go wrong with it mechanically

Customer Support : No Opinion
havent dealt with them

Overall Rating : 10
Well it just plain rules. Money doesn't come to me easily, but now that I've had a taste of this pedal it has become a major part of my guitar rig, and if anything ever happened to it I'd go right out and get another one. this is the best dist. pedal for your money.

The knobs are confusing. Boss provides sample settings which help. So-so rating because I had to read the instructions and half the sample settings aren't that great.

Sound Quality : 10
Sound quality is unbelieveably good. Got a great metal sound and also a great blues tone all with a flick of the distortion knob. I couldn't believe how good this pedal sounds. Best results with the bridge pickup and an absolutely clean (Fender) amplifier.

Reliability : 10
Boss is rugged.

Overall Rating : 10
Metal Zone is clearly and openly acknowledged as the best metal distortion pedal currently available on the market. There is a secret about the pedal you should know before you buy. Its nowhere near as versatile as the multiple tone knobs suggest. The box has only one good tone setting (labelled "heavy metal" in the samples). The frequency control knobs are flash/trash geared to attract and fascinate children. Blues to metal with the distortion knob. Simple. Nothing subtle here. Slap in the face to Knock over the head distortion. Were I to lose this one, I would have no choice but to buy it again. Can't imagine doing without. Fantastic value (at any price).

a knobs, turn them until you hear something you like, haven't heard anything i didn't like yet!

Sound Quality : 10
guess it would depend on your amp, i have a crappy amp and it doesn't sound as good through it, but sounds great with headphones on :). I've tried it through a good amp and this baby sounds sweet! didn't notice much noise..

Reliability : 10
haven't had it for more then 2 days now, but by the looks of it's construction i'd say it could survive a nuclear blast :)

Customer Support : No Opinion
haven't had it long enough!

Overall Rating : 10
definatly would buy it again... well i don't think i'l need too since i don't think i will be giving it up anytime soon! unless of course someone steals it. The versatility of this pedal is great! i like playing different styles of music from soft rock to metal and i can get all the sounds i want from this thing! Apparently Boos has changed this pedal, my friend's metal zone has 4 sliders for the EQ. Mine has 2 knobs that each have another knob.. umm so basicly 4 knobs instead of the slidders :) pluse the level and distorion knobs

Very easy to use, don't need a manual, though it might have some good presets to help get you started. Overall its fairly easy to get great sounds out of it.

Sound Quality : 9
If you like heavy metal and death metal, this pedal is one of the best for that purpose. But I've heard of alot of people using this pedal for blues as well. It has a very edgy sound which somepeople complain about, but that can be adjusted and enables it to really stand out in a mix when playing live, yet you can still hear the massive crunch this pedal makes as well. That edgy sound is also really good for some types of lead tones and can really sound nice on tape. Plus the 4-band eq is just awesome and can give you some very different sounds, along with adjustments on the gain control. The only gripe about this pedal is that it buzzes a bit on high gain settings but all distortion pedals do that.

Reliability : 10
Like all Boss pedals, built like a tank. I had one knob get bent when it was shipped to me in a padded envelope, but I just got some pliers and bent it back into shape.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never used it.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
I would definatly buy it again used, but I wouldnt buy it again new as the prices they are charging for these pedals are outrageous. Every month they seem to go up on the metal-zone. Last I checked they were going for $114 in the Musicians Friend catalog. But I absolutely love this pedal. There is only one pedal that I like better and that is the SansAmp GT-2 wich will also give you incredible heavy metal sounds, but is much richer and warmer sounding, plus its more versatile.

10. The manual is perfect, Very easy to understand and follow. It took me all of 10 seconds to get it to the Heavy Metal setting.

Sound Quality : 10
When I got it I was a little worried. Right now I have a small crappy Park amp, and to get good distortion, I'd have to turn both gain knobs to about 8, (this was before the Boss). Now, I have my Gain turned back, with my pedal on, There is no unwanted radio or static. The FX are loud, with the Heavy metal setting I can get the "Hetfield-Crunch" I've been looking for.

Reliability : 10
It's made by Boss. It's metal. Strong metal. I would use it to stop a bullet if I had to.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I've only had it for less then 24hours.

Overall Rating : 10
There's no way I could play a song good without this thing It totally kicks.

When I read the manual for it I got a little confused... Just fool around with it and try those "factory settings" in the manual and you'll see what this baby can do.

Sound Quality : 9
A bit "snowy" perhaps on high vol and maximum dist. Just find the sound you want and it's there no matter what volume you set... Best dist pedal I eVeR tried!!

Reliability : 10
Never stood me up. I would recommend an adaptor though, or bring a spare battery...

Customer Support : No Opinion
I have never had any trouble with it.

Overall Rating : 10
I was a bit sceptic to the price at first, but I would defenitely buy it again. Even if the price was higher... Can't really figure how I could play without it. Just compare it to a cheaper standard pedal with dist, vol, and tone knobs and you won't have any questions. It's worth every nickel

It's very easy to use if you're not too fuckin' stupid. The given manual is good with a lot of examples . And if you want your own great sound, so, take some time to find it and after ...

Sound Quality : 10
I think this pedal is a bit noisy with distorsion at the maximum, but which pedal isn't ? You can deal with the greatest fuckin'asshole distorted sound when you're playing metal. Even if you wanna be cool, you could have anything you want. I played Anesthesia from Metallica on my bass with this pedal and it sounds like the real sound !!!

Reliability : 10
If you want, you can smash it with a bulldozer and it does continue to have this fabulous sound !!

Customer Support : No Opinion
They don't need one !!!

Overall Rating : 10
I love it. I m a bass player and I was searching for the most usable and versatile pedal, and I found it !!!
