Ease of Use : 10
I lost the manual when I first bought it but it is a breeze to use. It will take a little time to get a sound that you like, but it is worth the time. Set your amp's EQ then set the Metal Zone's EQ and distortion.

Sound Quality : 10
Besides being easy to use, it sounds great. It is very diverse. I can emulate almost any guitar sound, even a fuzz sound, but I would reccomend getting a seperate fuzz box because the Metal Zone offers better distortions than fuzz.

Reliability : 10
As with all Boss pedals, I have had no problems with the pedal or the adapter. I have used it at gigs without backup and I have never been worried about it shorting out. The box is metal so you can drop it without hurting it.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I have never had to deal with Boss.

Overall Rating : 10
If I could have one pedal, this would be the one. I have an RP-10, but I still use this box for my distortion because I haven't found anything that can compare to it. A must in anyone's rig.

Because this pedal is so versatile, you might have trouble at first finding the exact right setting for you, but after a little fiddling, you can always find the best distortion.

Sound Quality : 10
I bought my first MT-2 Pedal about a year ago, but I recently went to the store to shop for a christmas gift for my brother. I was looking for something different and even better than the Metal Zone, but after trying out all the other BOSS pedals and DOD pedal as well as the ProCo Rat and the Tech21 XXL, this blew them away by far. If distortion was measured in horsepower, it would be double that of any other pedal I tested. It's more versatile, powerful and quiet than any other pedal I've heard. If you're looking for a pedal, this is it!

Reliability : 9
The only problem I've had is the rubber O-ring splitting where the screw enters the box, but it really is no problem.

Overall Rating : 10
Instant classic. The emperor of distortion boxes.

Ease of Use : 9
It`s pretty easy to use, the manual is also very clear.

Sound Quality : 10
The sound is great!!! I haven`t heard another pedal that can match with it. But the noise produced without playing can be pretty annoying.

Reliability : 10
He has never given up, that`s for sure.

Overall Rating : 7
The only thing that bothers me is the price: I`ve bought it in Belgium and the price was (in US dollars) 174$. I think that`s pretty much if you compare it to other effect pedals. I think I`d buy a DS-1.

It's very easy to get a good sound out of it. The manual gives you sample settings which are good especially the Heavy Metal one!! We're talking big crunch here. Crank up the DIST. dial for Pantera like Riffs.

Sound Quality : 9
It is fairly quiet unless you turn the level and distortion dials up too high. Other than that it pretty quiet.

Reliability : 10
It is a pretty reliable pedal. It has never broken down in any way.

Overall Rating : 10
I would definitley buy this puppy again if I had the opportunity. I was thinking of selling it for a while.... but now I have seen the light. Compared to tube distortions this is so quiet. No loud hums or anything. It rocks!!! A definate score.

There's six knobs, you turn them. If you can't do this you must be an idiot. It even comes with presets in the book

Sound Quality : 10
Best pedal I ever tried in my days of guitar playing

Ease of Use : 10
Very easy use.. There are 6 knobs: low, high, middle, and mid. frequencies. A comprehensive manual and sample settings included.

Sound Quality : 9
The distortion settings are superb. Just dont put distortion all the way up or it will start to oscilliate (as printed in the manual).. besides that there is a wide range of sounds to choose from depending on your knob settings

Reliability : 8
You can alwayys depend on a BOSS... but just use an adaptor.. this thing drains 9-volts like crazy. 7-8 hours use for each battery!

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with the company..

Overall Rating : 9
This is an overal excellent product for metal type distortion.. but not just metal, change the knobs a bit and sound like Jimi Hendrix.. its a truly amazing and versatile pedal.. By the way, the music store guy that worked there said there was a competition with the Hypermetal and MetalZone pedals (both Boss) and the metalzone won:) its THE best pedal.

Ease of Use : 9
The thing has six knobs (two knobs are nested double knobs, and two are dedicated), which is a lot compared to most effects pedals. But it's rather easy to use once you get to understand what each knob does... you eventually get the hang of it. In essence, the six knobs provide you with a three band equalizer, a contour control, a distortion level, and a volume. Having this much control over the pedal equates chiefly to its main asset: VERSATILITY. By fiddling with the controls one can easily access a wide range of sounds. From really serious fuzz, to break-neck distortion.

Sound Quality : 10
Because of the extenstive range of controls available, it can sound as good and as bad as you want it to. If you want it to sound thin and cheap, just max out the contour drop the bass. But if you take the time to study the thing it can do wonders. The switching is way clean... no pops or clicks when you stomp on the thing. Just make sure to remember this adage: try not to go over the edge! Max out any of the knobs, and you're bound to get a really cheap tone. In terms of sheer sound quality, this baby has it. Even on full distortion, the harmonic quality of the guitar doesn't fall apart. In other words, you can still hear the chords. And if you want a killer lead tone to rise above the din of a band, this thing can do that too. It can make the cleanest noise I've heard so far (if that makes any sense to you).

Reliability : 9
Well, a boss is a boss. I've dropped mine a couple of times... no harm done. Just be carefull with the small inner knobs in the nested knobs... it looks kind of flimsy. Drop it at just the right (or wrong) angle and it might break... but then again, it's never happened to me, so I don't really know whether this perceived weakness is actually there. I agree with one of the other reviews though, this thing sucks up a battery like there's no tomorrow. If you're using it in gigs, no need to bring a backup pedal, but PLEASE bring a backup battery. Or better still get an AC adapter.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I don't really know... the distributor in the Philippines is YAMAHA Corporation. And their service is rather inconsistent... sometimes you get total incompetents trying to sell you something they know didley about, but sometimes you meet a musician/salesman who'll even advise you what NOT to buy from them.

Overall Rating : 9
This is a great overall distortion pedal. For someone who's trying to save a few bucks, this is pretty good. It can actually take the place of a lot of other dedicated effects boxes. I've gone through quite a number, and I know for fact it can sound very much like the HYPER FUZZ, HYPER METAL, as well as the TURBO DISTORTION. The low end distortion limit of the MT-2 is rather high though, so it has a little trouble emulating the more subtle tones of the TURBO OVERDRIVE pedal. But if you like to crank it up, this baby can hack it. The problem with this baby is evident if you intend to use it for gigs. If you had dedicated pedals, then it's easy to switch between effects. But if you intend to use this in live performance situations and actually intend use different settings for different songs, than things get complicated. I've gotten around the problem by PRACTICE. When rehearsing for songs, I draw diagrams for the settings for each song, and practice the settings changes as well as the songs themselves. Once you have the transitions and settings memorized, it takes less than a second to shift from extremely different sounds. Overall its a very good pedal.

Very easy to use. The manual gives full-instruction and some pre-set examples and advices.

Sound Quality : 10
It's not noisy. The sound is a great all-tube amps emulation, but perhaps it's a few weak, I mean it has not the body and fatness of an amp (I use a Fender Performer 650); this is my opinion, and besides, I have only used it at home, at low level of volume; perhaps i should try it at high volume, then I'll do a new comentary!

it's not noisy, it's harder than any other, but i find it a little weack when a compair it with the distortion channel of my amp (fender performer 650), though perhaps it's due to i use it at home, at low level of volume.

Very easy to use. Turn the knobs and change the sound. Easy!!

Sound Quality : 10
Excellent sound quality. I have been using a DS-1 through a 16 Band Graphic EQ or a Boss PEQ. This has been a bit of a fiddle to get the sounds I want. This pedal makes it easier. Excellent range of sounds and textures.

Reliability : 10
Mine has a 5 year warranty with it and as yet I have not had any problems with it.

Overall Rating : 9
I don't think there is anything that can replace this little number. You couldn't ask for better quality in a Stomp Box! Maybe some rack units can display, if not better, the quality of this unit, But you can't put them at your feet like this thing.

I have found that if you follow the manual's suggestion of turning all of the controls to 12 o'clock and then adjusting them that you can get the sound you want quicker than by fiddling with them in random order.

Sound Quality : 10
The distortion of the Metal Zone is THE BEST for the heavy metal and thrash tone.

Reliability : 9
It is reliable so far over 2 yrs. of use.

Overall Rating : 10
I can't imagine selling it. It destroys all other heavy distortion pedals of this type.
