Ease of Use : 10
it's got four knobs and it says boss on it. and i'm not a crack baby

Sound Quality : 9
i got a epi les paul, a tele, and a strat with hot rails in it. the strat sounds the best with it on the neck pick up. fool around with the settings and you can get the billy corgan sounds used on siamese dream and pisces iscariot. i think he actually used a maestro phaser but it's damn close.

Reliability : 10
it's a tough box, i don't worry about it breaking. and i got 2 other boss stompboxes which are reliable as well.

Customer Support : No Opinion
i bought it used and i don't need um anyway.

Overall Rating : 10
i play metal and some "alternative" and let me tell ya this is a great deal. very good phaser sounds for a low price, foolio.

This was very easy to use. I plugged it in and was making great sounds right away. You can change the sound just by turning the knobs. The manual didn't say much, but you don't need it anyway.

Sound Quality : 9
I use a Shecter C-1 guitar with a Fender Princton Chorus and this pedal worked great with them. If the volume is loud there is the sound of the phaser going but thats no big deal for me. I turn the depth all the way up so i always get good sound. If you put it on the second setting it gets more into funk. This pedal is perfect for Incubus. I know the guitarist from Incubus uses one too. If you put this effect with distortion it intensifies the effect which is really nice for some sounds. If it is on the second setting it gets pretty ratty which i dont like but i know some people might.

Reliability : 10
I've never used it with a gig yet but this is Boss and i've used other Boss pedals in gigs and they work perfect.

Customer Support : No Opinion
never dealt with this

Overall Rating : 9
I play music that is highly influenced by Incubus, Finger Eleven, and Deftones to heavier music like Korn and Sevendust. You can tell all of these bands use this effect a lot exept for maybe the Deftones. I've been playing for about 2 years and this effect is my favorite. I use this music to write music. This effect is awesome and a great effect to have to fill space with your songs.

Play with it a while.Let your ears do the talking!

I'd like to up-date an earlier reveiw. This thing is now an INTEGRAL PART OF MY SOUND!!When using it to record,I'll use a noise gate and/or a compressor to control the background swooshing noise. It's not that bad,but I like to control it.The Super Phasor is great for cymbles, rythym guitars and vocals. If you play keyboards(ie.clavinet) or bass, ya gotta try this box!Be careful with the settings, cause it's got lots of "BOING" to it.When combined with a chorus or flanger it can produce some trippy sounds.I love it!

Reliability : 9
Very dependable, don't really need a backup.

I do a lot of R&B,Funk and Fusion these days.Let me tell ya',the PH-2 gets lots of work.It adds a nice shimmer and swirl to my sound, and the audience seem to dig it as well. The Super Phasor can get a little wild if you'er not careful, cause of the "BOING" factor,so I watch the depth and resonance knobs.Wouldn't recommend it for Heavy Metal guys. The trick is to learn the settings and when to use the thing! MXR phasors are good too, they'er more subtle. But in my opinion, the Boss PH-2 gives me good BOING for the buck! My singer calls it the Fun-Box!

Very easy to use. You can get good sounds out of it very quickly.

I've used it with a squire(which was shat) and then an Epiphone(which was better). Through the ol Marshall it is clear sounding but lacks tone. After playing for six months it began to sound annoying.

Second hand, so I don't know

This pedal is just not my style. It gets in the way of any tune I try and make up. I think I really bought it on impulse.

It's a pedal, three knobs, not difficult to figure out, but it does have a wide range of sounds so you may need to play with it to get just the sound you're looking for.

Sound Quality : 7
I'm using a cheap strat copy into a ibanez smash box distortion into the phaser into a cheap practice amp, not the best setup but it works until i have money. This pedal gives me a lot of noise when i'm not playing, it may be my cheap gear but it's annoying. This pedal is good when used sparingly, with the settings rolled back it does a good job at adding a little ambience to chords and an almost envelope filter like personality to a solo. If you turn the knobs up on this thing it sounds like a toy and you lose pretty much all of the original tone, it gets hard to even make out the notes you are playing because all you can hear is the effect. Used right this is a good pedal, it's just one you probably wont use very often unless you're looking for some really weird sounds.

Reliability : 10
i don't think i could break this thing if i wanted to

Customer Support : No Opinion
don't know, never neede to talk to them

Overall Rating : 8
Overall this pedal is a good toy, i bought it on impulse and i got pretty much what i expected out of it. It is fun to sit in your bedroom and see what kind of weird shit you can get it to do but i probably wont ever really use it for much more than some light settings on open chords for a little bit of a chorus sound. and i might not even do that unless i get rid of some the background noise this thing makes. If it got stolen i wouldn't really worry because it's really not a necessary pedal, for me at least.

4 knobs, rate, depth, resonance, and mode. the resonance knob kinda confused me but after i read the manual it was cool.

Sound Quality : 9
i use a squier by fender standard p-bass special thru a boss ODB-3 thru the PH-2 super phaser then into a yorkville BM-200 bass amp. like all pedals you do get noise, but you can't hear it when you are playing, theres always the background *swoosh* when your not playing though. the effects on this pedal are VERY strong, the only reason i give it an 9 is because on the low E string and some times but hardly ever the A string is a bit muddy and the effect isn't that strong on them, but its still great. i have alot of favorite artists, but i mostly play my own stuff and make wierd noises when i use the overdrive before the phaser, if you turn the rate and the depth knobs all the way up you get a really liquidy and trippy sound *COOL!!!!* if you have the depth at 3/4's to hte max and the rate at half, you get a smooth flanger type sound that is also cool. the effect that this pedal gives is a kick ass effect, never tried it on guitar, just on bass, since thats what i play

Reliability : 10
BOSS, need i say more? i would gig without a back up for sure, just one piece of advice, use the adaptor if your gonna play for a long time....

never dealth with it....

i play blink 182 type punk music, alternative, rock, ska, and sometimes hardcore like slipknot. i've been playing for just little over a year now. i own a squier by fender standard p-bass special, a boss ODB-3 bass overdrive, and a boss PH-2 super phaser, and a yorkville BM-200 bass amp. if it were lost or stolen i would DEFFINETLY buy another one since its the only phaser i have tried i probably wouldn't get a different one. i love the colour of it, slime green, it has nice clear, smooth effects that are strong 90% of the time, the mode knob is also cool, mode 1 is a kind of less bass more treble sound with screaming highs and low bass, mode 2 has BIG bass to it and less high end. my favorite feature is hte smooth liquidy flanger type sound i can get out of it while playing chords on my bass. like i said in the paragraph above, this is hte only phaser i have tried and bought it within 10 minutes of being in the store. i bought this pedal because i was selling my 20 watt bass amp, and i was looking at the pedals since that is my goal for now, and i saw the phaser at a cheap price of $79.95, i traded my bass amp + $25 on top for it after i tried it on a bass they had there so i wouldn't be wasting my money if it didn't work. i kinda wish it had a little more range in the mid-section of the depth so it would sound like a long, slow flanger. it helps my music ALOT, and it sure doesn't get in the way of my music, it gives my old boring songs which i wrote a little more beef to it. one thing i would say if you are looking at this category of effects is, buy this pedal, its worth the money, no matter how much you pay for it, it helps give your music more body, and alreayd existing songs a cool tone as well...

Four knobs: rate, depth, res(onance), and mode. Each knob has a marked effect on the sound and so it's to hear & figure out what each does very quickly.

Sound Quality : 7
My setup: various guitars all w/ humbuckers -> TS-9 -> Carvin X-50B 50w tube head -> effects loop: PH-2 phaser -> DD-3 delay -> PQ-4 param eq -> power amp ->Marshall 4x12 cab.
I play in a hard rock / blues rock cover band and was looking for a phaser to do songs like Live: Lightning Crashes, Rush: Fly By Night, etc. Although the basic sound of the PH-2 is very good and tuneable, it didn't quite have the sound I was looking for. It's a bit too intense in the upper frequency registers and sounds too "processed" and there's no way to tune that out because the both the depth & res controls affect the entire frequency spectrum. Needs to be a bit "mellower" in the upper ranges. Other than that it sounds great, no noise and a wide range of sounds from barely noticeable to an intenses, creamy "swoosh".

Reliability : 10
I've never had any problems w/ any Boss pedals.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had to deal w/ them (pray I don't as I find 99% of all retail cust. svc. abysmal!!!!)

Overall Rating : 8
A good generic phaser sound. Needs to be a bit more tweakable. Could use some type of frequency range / eq adjust where you could adjust over what freqs the phasing occurs or eq out unwanted freq's w/o having to adjust your whole tone.

I use a Lonestar Strat --> dyna comp --> phase 90 --> teese rmc-1 wah --> metal zone --> line-6 DL-4. This pedal sounds cheesy. get a phase 90 instead.

I replaced this with a phase 100, and then replaced that with a phase 90.... don't make the same mistake I did, go straight for the phase 90.

Very easy to get a wide variety of sounds with this four nobber. Just twist away and within a few minutes you get a feel for what each nob adds or detracts. I got it used--no manual but it hasn't hindered me a bit--no surprise there.

Sound Quality : 9
I just want to testify as to how rad it is to use this phaser w/ cheap keyboards! Most of the comments here are guitar heavy (understandably) but when looking to buy, I was interested in how this thing would handle not only my guitar but also the old Casios I fool around with (SA-20, CA110, etc). It does wonders. Running through the PH2, a Dan Echo pedal(or not) and my Feder Delux, I get some great expansive, rotating, spacey sounds from the cheap keys. The Phase I and II settings each offer a sound sincerely unique from the other. I have experienced no noise issues w the pedal either.

Reliability : 9
No complaints here--like everyone else here says, the few boss pedals I've used have been completely un-buggy and totally super sturdy.

I mostly do a lot of 4-track recording. I don't spend alot on gizmos and enjoy the challenge of getting a lot of sound out of minimal equipment. When I buy, I look for versitile but uncomplicated devices. This pedal stacks up--stand alone, it sounds great on a guitar or keyboard. Throw in another favorite pedal and with the four knobs on the PH2, I find that have a great deal of texture to work with. Some have remarked that the heavy phased settings (ph II mode) are useless. It depends on what you appreciate--in this mode I can get some great stuff, kind of computery sounds (not unlike a ring modulator)from a guitar--and a keyboard, well Super Phase "Emergency Alarm" on your Casio and let your imagination wander....
