Well, you HAVE to read the manual to figure this thing out. I don't think that anyone will have trouble with it once they've done so, but this thing is not exactly easy to use... for instance, to change distortion effects: turn off amp, unplug pedel, turn know to advanced, and plug back in... Not a big deal, but when your in the middle of playing and you just want to dail in some fuzz or some overdrive, it gets tiring. Of course that fact that a wah pedal does all that is also kind of a bonus anyways, so you can't get that picky. Getting a good sound was no problem at all, but there are 1001 ways to tweak this thing, so be prepared to be overwhelmed: I personally found that part fun!

Sound Quality : 8
Wah's: The wah's are all pretty decent... I find myself mostly just using the morley vox and crybaby sounds, but there are a couple other weird and wonderful sounds to which you can definitely have some fun with... I would say that it does a pretty good job of emulating the classics. I've owned a crybaby, and I cannot tell any difference.

Uni-V: Well, I'm borrowing my freinds Dunlop Univibe right now, so I compared the two. No question, the real thing sounds better, but this one sounds pretty good too, and after not using the real Univibe for a while, I don't even notice that it's missing anything... Let's put it this way, unless your REALLY into that sound, you will be totally happy imitating hendrix with this thing ;)

Distortions: There are like 6 or 7 built in distortions, and I have to say, they're all pretty good! Particularily the Metal Zone, Fuzz, and Blues Driver (just my opinion). You don't have any tone control for these settings, but they are still nice.. My only complaint, they are noisy, and the built in noise supressor kind of eats your sound so I just leave it off :( But it's no big deal, I like them. I am going to have to take off at least one point for this noisyness though...

Oh yeah, and this thing has optical sensors, so the POT's will never get squeeky

Reliability : 8
Well, within a couple weeks of having it, the Wah stopped working... It turned out that it was not broken, but that I had to recalibrate the pedel. Instructions for this were in the manual, but I was kind of upset until I figured that out... It has a 5 year warranty though, and boss is well known for pedels that live forever, so I wouldn't worry too much. Solid metel construction, ect...

Customer Support : No Opinion
I almost called customer support, but then I read the Troubleshooting part of the manual, and my problem was solved. I have no idea if they have good customer support.

Overall Rating : 9
Overall, this thing is a cool toy... I'm not sure if you'd want to use it on stage for everthing: The pedel controls the uni-v speed, so when you switch it on, you momentarily get this ultra fast vibrato effect until you pull it back and slow it down a bit (that really bugs me), and there is no on/off button for the overdrive, so you have to lean over and turn it off with the dail!! There are however 3 memory settings, which you can control with a heel clicker, which is neat, so depending on what you want to do with it, it might work great live. It would be ok for studio use, but maybe only with the wah. LIke I said, the distortions are kind of noisy... I suppose enough messing around would allow you to get it jsut right though. It does in general sound really nice though, and for the money, it comes loaded to the brim with 10x more goodies than any other wah pedel (most only wah). Anyways, I'm diggin it and it help me make cool music... I wouldn't replace it if it got lost, but that's only because it is kind of a toy: not really a necessity. Again, depends on how important the wah is to you. Distortion wise, as long as my TS-9 holds up, things can't be that bad ;) If you are looking at buying a crybaby or a morely, and don't mind spending an extra $50 of so, I would definetely get this. It will do EXACTLY what those two do, no questions asked.

Its dead easy to just plug straight in and get an excellent sound, in fact any number of excellent sounds. To get to grips with any other function other than this, though, you have to read the instructions! There's no way around this - the programming is not at all intuitive. But I feel the advantages of the memory system far outweigh the disadvantages and I definately wouldn't begrudge 10 mins learning how to use the thing to have this many awesome wah sounds at my disposal. One niggle is the bypass. It takes to long to turn the unit off. This is a problem for instance if you're using a memory slot with distortion on. Switching the wah on and off is easy with the toe switch. But if you want to switch the distortion off too you have to hold the heel switch down for about 2 secs! Not good! My solution - forget the distortions, or don't think in a live situation you can switch the distortion and wah seperately.

Sound Quality : 9
My set up consists of an Ibanez S540 into the PW-10, then onto my Rivera amp. The sounds are exactly how you want them to be. If its a vintage sound you need, the models are entirely warm with not a hint of 'digitalness' about them. Modern, more defined wah sounds are also catered for with plenty of range adjustment to create a typical Petrucci, bass heavy rhythm wah sound or the edgy Dimebag lead sound. The 4 sounds I have in saved at the moment are 1: Petrucci low rhythm sound 2: Vai Morley wah 3: Satch lead crybaby and the manual setting I have on a tight funk sound. All these sounds are totally authentic and rock big style! Noise is no problem I find. True, if you have stacks of gain, there's going to be some noise. But its not excessive and far in a way quieter than a crybaby. I thought the univibe and voice sounds a bit weak and superfluous to be honest. That's why the unit gets a 9 not a 10. That extra processing power/memory could have been used on improving the programming of the unit. The overdrive sounds are also authentic and highly usable. But due to the aformentioned difficulty with switching them in and out I have decided not to use them.

Reliability : 10
I feel totally secure gigging with this pedal. Once you know how it works and are confident that you can alter settings at a moments notice, you shouldn't have any doubts about using it live. The casing is all metal and the controls are all well out of the way even with my size 12s (UK).

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with Boss.

Overall Rating : 9
The reason I intially considered this pedal is down to the sheer number of styles I'm involved in. I can't afford a Morley, a Crybaby, a Vox etc. And who'd want to drag that many wah pedals to a gig anyway? So this was the 'next best thing'. But it isn't just that. Its far better because it gives me the ability to craft my own wah sound AND have the wah sounds of my heros at my disposal. There are a few problems, which have obviously been mentioned by most of the reviewers here like the bypass and laborious programming sequence. But I for one am willing to put up with/work around these inadequacies because the sound is just so good.

Easy to get started. It is slightly annoying in that you need to power down and back up again to change some of the effects. No problem when you get used to it.

Sound Quality : 8
Sounds really good on any of the wah settings. The univibe is a bit silly and I don't really see the point in it. The voices are pretty good. The distortions are great, and I love the way you can custoise your own wah sound.

Reliability : 9
Very dependable. Has an infrared system instead of an analouge potentiometer so no worries there. Solid, great rubber grip on the foot plate.

Nope

I play stoner mainly so it works well for me as I can change the sound easily. Good allrounder if not necessarily as good as a dedicated wah. But you dont get all the extras...

Some things such as changing distortion felt a bit difficult first, but the product luckily goes with a good manual so keeping it near would be a good idea. I've had it for a month and can operate it quite smoothly already. It would be nicer though if it had one more knob so one wouldn't have to shut off the amp and wah every time when doing some operations, mainly changing distortion.

Sound Quality : 10
I have a cheap stratocaser copy and small crate gx-15r amp, and pw-10 sure made my sound a lot better. I have played it a few times with better equipment and naturally it sounded better, but I do like the sound a lot with my own equipment too.

Wah effects are great. Voice is useful sometimes and very refreshing. Uni-v is nice too although I haven't played with it much yet. Distortions rule, it's great to have so many different distortions on a pedal, that even isn't kind of meant a distortion box!

It also has a built in noise supressor, so noise shouldn't be a problem.

Reliability : No Opinion
Hard to say yet, but at least I haven't had any problems with it during the first month.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't dealt with boss.

Overall Rating : 9
It's a great wah pedal, and I would for sure buy another if I lost it. After I got it, I have played practically all the time with it, I've been playing.

I've played guitar for some 4 years, I mainly play rock, funk, some metal and stuff like that. Nowadays I tend to use wah always when I'm playing, so I guess my bandmates will soon get pissed off on me.. :)

I would give a 10 if it was a bit easier to use, but it's still great and has a great sound, which is naturally the most important thing. I warmly recommend buying this unit for anyone thinking of getting a wah pedal.

I read the manual before I even plugged it in, so using it was a breeze. But its not that complicated anyways. The manual is straighforward...more in depth than a lot of Boss' i've seen. Sorry to all u old guys who complained about having to figure it all out.

Sound Quality : 10
I decided not to use the distortions and use only what i bought it for.. the wah and uni-vibe sounds. And to my knowledge it works almost exactly like a regular wah would with amp and pedal distortions. The only patch that benifits from the built in distortion is the Double Resonance, but its ok without it. It takes a little work to integrate it into your current rig, but it is well worth it. The patches are amazing (100x better than the Morley Classic Wah that i bought)

Reliability : 10
I've gigged with it once, and that worked great. I would say that gigging without a backup would be a safe thing to do... I have had some Boss' break on me before though.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I did not deal with them at all on this occasion...but i've tried before and it was too hard to get in touch with them.

Overall Rating : 10
This wah is good for whatever style of music you play... you've got the Hendrix sounds, the Steve Vai sounds, and the Shaft sounds all in one box. I've been playing 2.5 years, I use a Crate Stealth tube head, Avatar cab with Celestion Vintage 30's, Boss DS-1 SD-1 and CS-3, and an Ernie Ball Mono Volume pedal, they go together pretty well.
I would definatley buy another. My favorite feature would have to be the vox wah, u just can't beat that vintage sound. My least favorite would be the Bass Mix... it sounded pretty bad with my bass. I compared this with an original Crybaby and a Bad Horsie 2.....i think i chose wisely. I wish it only added distortion, and not volume too. Its definatley a great addition to your setup... get rid of those 30 year old pedals....let them retire, this will do the trick. And it costs slightly more for 10x the work.

The PW-10 in this area seems to lack simplicity. But then again the pedal offers alot of different features than most "plug-n-play" type wahs.

Sound Quality : 10
My setup is Jackson Rhoades V->Boss PW-10 Wah->Randall 2 by 12. through my setup the pedal sounds pretty damn good. As you can tell i dont use many pedals cause this one ended up replacing the others! The sound of this wah in comparison to other wahs is that it seems to be alot clearer. The sweep on it has gotten way more even and the horrible task of switching out tone pots is eliminated. Also, using the frequency knob, you can put more "bam" on your mids, highs, or lows.

Reliability : 9
It's real reliable, not one problem yet. I would use it live without a backup as long as i had both batteries and the ac adapter.

Customer Support : 10
Well never had problems with boss, and the tradition continues.....

Overall Rating : 9
I give this pedal a "9". If your a player whose looking for flexability like myself this might be the wah for you. I play alot of metal, classical, and even country, and this pedal and tackle each equally well. The only thing i wish the pedal had is a delay. It seems to have most usuable effects (noise suppression, distortion etc.) but no delay. If this pedal were stolen i would difinity buy another , then i would take the pointed head stock of my jackson and cram it in the guys eye socket.

If you want to get the best out of the thing, you have to read the manual. That said, using the different wah's, the distortion, and a few settings could easily be used by a well-trained monkey. Three knobs- Wah type, wah range, and distortion- self explanitory. The only reason it doesn't get a ten is because this unit has a lot of cool hidden tricks that would be tough to discover on your own (Like programming the custom wah and distortion together, ultra-hip).

Sound Quality : 10
All I have to say is this: I compared the Vox wah simulator on this wah with an actual Vox in the store. The Boss' simulator sounded better then the Vox itself. The End.

P.S. No hissing.

I've gigged a fair bit with it, never had one problem.

No Opinion, eh.

Overall Rating : 10
My favorite feature of this is I can get close to Clapton's 'Woman Tone' with it. The distortions are impressive, considering there's eight of them crammed into a pedal that's not even meant for distortion. It's got some cool modulation effects, and some sounds on it I would expect to come more from the Electro-Harmonics company, not Boss. If it were lost or stolen, I wouldn't buy another right now, because it's just after Christmas and I have no money, but if I had the cash I would think long and hard between it or a nylon string guitar. Dee-lish!

This pedal is easy to use if you use the manuel. It took me an hour to figure the pedal has heel switch with the toe switch. options for this pedal is great!

Sound Quality : 9
the wha, voice and univibe sounds are a 10, but I dont like the distortion alone, not for my taste, but I had no intention on using the distortion alone when i bought the pedal. I have to admit though the distortion sound pretty good in the analog syth mode.

Ive owned a morley wha, vox, crybaby origonal, crybaby Qdial wha. I liked the crybaby sound the best. but every wha I have metioned above has broke in some way, usaully its the tone pots which are easy to replace $30. The pots seem to break after about 1 year of use, what a hassle! wha's also tend to be noisy, sqeaky, and suck your tone. The V-wha on the other hand is not noisy, sqeaky and does not suck your tone! I have to admit, I was not impressed after an hour, once I got used to it, and read the manuel i was very happy. I recommend leaving the wha tone on 9:00,10:00 or 11:00. this gives you a better wha tone.

Ease of Use : 7
It's got 2 modes: manual and memory.

Manual mode is very easy: just select the type of wah, the effect range (like the Q control on Dunlop wah's), and step on toe swich.

If you activate the heel switch, you go through 3 memory positions.

It's very easy to edit memory patches: select the wah type, the range, and press a button for 2 secs. Select the memory position (red, yellow or green) and it's saved.

Since there are many features, and just 3 knobs, to reach those features is a little difficul: you have to turn off the pedal, turn the type knob for the wanted position, and turn on the unit while pressing the "manual/memory"button. For instance, if you want to change the drive model, you must turn of the unit, turn the type knob to "advanced", and turn on the pedal while pressing "manual" button. Then you can change drive parameters.

The manual is very good, and it gives some practical hints to use the pedal

Sound Quality : 9
My rig: 2000 Am Std Tele -> Pw-10 Wah -> Fender 2000 Hot Rod Deluxe tube amp.

There's little noise when using the pedal on the HRDx "More Drive" channel (high gain). Otherwise, no noise, since it's got a buil-in noise supressor.

The wah models are very, very good, specially the Jimi Hendrix Wah model. The wah sounds available (Vox, Jimi and Bad Horsie) are very good, and are very similar to the originals. It's very easy to get that "Vodoo Chile" tone.

I played with my band, and the sound is not digital, or thin, but very "fat", just like the old analog pedals. The volume doesn't drop, as sometimes happens with original ones.

I also enjoy the Univibe sound. You can control speed using the pedal, and get that SRV's "Cold Shot" tone.

I haven't played yet with other the effects (Double Ressonance and Voice) - have the pedal for 3 days...

It's also got 8 drive/distortion pedals models, including Boss Overdrive, Turbo Overdrive, Distortion, Metal Zone and Blues Driver, Marshall Guv'nor, Big Muff, clean booster, which are very cool!

Reliability : 10
Well, it's a Boss pedal, so I think I won't have any problem!

And remember there are no pots to be cleanned, switches to be repaired. It uses infrared sensors to detect motion!

I was reading the reviews on Dunlop and Vox pedals, and the users were all telling how good there pedals were sounding after cleaning pots, fixing switches, upgrading bypass switches...

Customer Support : No Opinion

I play rock, blues, and some brazilian type of music. I've been playing for 15 years.

If the v-Wah was lost, or stolen, I would buy another one.

I have compared it with the "real" ones, and for price, features, reliability and tone it's really a winner!

No problem to use in the manual mode. Definately read the manual for programming. Basically, there are three memory patches, and manual mode, so you can have 4 sounds at your feet. No problem getting good tone out of this unit. Can't really compare ease of use with other wahs, because this pedal is unique (unique right now, I'll bet Line 6 will not be far behind)

Sound Quality : 9
I have played for over 20 years and always been a fan of the wah sound to add color to your tone. I used a Cry-baby for years, and this pedal's Cry-baby model sounds much better- it is like comparing an old 8-track to a CD player- crystal clear and no hiss. I retired the Cry-baby a few years back for a Morley volume/wah, just for the volume aspect. To me, the Cry-baby model sounds good with neck pickup/mild OD. The Vox model sounds great clean or mild OD, and the Morley model excels with a double-humbucker hi-gain lead sound. Also the effects are nice- I like the Uni-vibe, it's a little different than my Microvibe pedal (I love that pedal), but very useable. Also try the synth sound with a spacey clean sound doing volume-swells: very modern. The overdrives they added to enhance the wah effect, which it does. The OD's sound like Boss pedals (imagine that), no problem, but I prefer not to use them and to rely on my amp tone. In general, a very nice wah, clean and versatile.

Reliability : 9
Used Boss pedals for years with no problem. This thing feels well constructed- we shall see in time.

The V-Wah is a very easy pedal to use.
By a tweak of a knob you can easily get the sound you want(Includes simulations of-crybaby wah, morley wah,vox wah,and a dunlop Univibe)

Sound Quality : 10
I mostly play on an Epihone Les Paul copy, sometimes with a Lotus Strat
into a Digitech RP200 looped to a boss delay, and the boss delay goes to the V-Wah.
I use a fender Vibro Champ,a gorrila GG-10 and some kind of Optimus amp.All of the amp settings are:
Bass-7
Treble-5
Mid-5
Gain-6
distortion-1/2

The effects have a very clear sound, and you can play alot of Hendrix
tunes with the wah,it's also good for a Buddy Guy-type wah,and the Morley sound's like Steve Vai.

Reliability : 9
You Can rely on it for gigs. When you play on gigs,it's hard to see the knobs, and it's hard to turn, but as far as giging it yes its good,

Most Companies are rude.I havn't had any problems with the pedal.Yet

I play mostly blues, rock&Jazz. It fits all of them(Depending on gain&distortion*)
I've been playing for almost 5 years,and i own A Boss Delay,a digitech
RP200,and I own A Fender Vibro Champ,a Gorrila GG-10,and some Optimus.
If it was lost I'd definaly go and buy a new one(And beat the mess out of the theif)I love everything about it,the diffrent modes, the gain&Distortion,I hate the Overdrive because it fuzzes up a little to much,my favourite feature is the Vox simulation,i did compare it with
my Digitech RP200's wah,and I like the V-Wah better because the Digitech sounded so Crappy, and the pedal has so much features there is
not any other possible thing I could want in a Wah,it really fits blues, jazz, and rock(I play it)and I think that the intensity is great,
I mean,you don't find many pedals with a distortional Wah,so the pedal
is the best wah you can own.

First of all I am very familiar with programmable pedals and have owned countless multi-effects and amp modelers. I also have a digital studio. I've only recently gone back to stomp boxes for live work, because i like the flexiblity and spontanaity. With that said, I find this pedal moderatly difficult to use. And my big size 13 boot covers the indicator lights.

this pedal is usable right out of the box... just turn the 3 knobs, and you have your choice of effect, the range of it, and how much drive you want to add to the effect.

Sound Quality : 9
the sound quality is awesome! i previously had a crybaby wah, and although that was a very good pedal, i didnt seem to get much volume through it. with the v-wah i dont just have the crybaby i had before, i can now alter the wah range, and add drive to it just by using the manual mode. to get the best out of this pedal you need to read the manual from front to back. i have already read the manual all the way through, and know it inside out (i have only had it 1/2 a day). i give it a 9 because it is pretty self explanitory, as a wah pedal, but to get the advanced features you need to read the manual

Reliability : 10
very reliable! its a boss so doesnt that say it all? built like a brick and no scratchy pots etc. i bought the adapter for it as i heard that it eats up the batteries.

this pedal IS the last wah pedal you would want to buy, because apart from it being just a wah, it is programmable and has some cool effects built in. my favourite effect apart from the wah is the univibe. when i took it out of the box i thought it was a bit long compared to my old crybaby wah, but even though it is longer than a standard wah, how do they cram so much into just 1 pedal! if anyone can do it boss can!

Although this is not exactly a click and play pedal, you get a pretty good sound right off the bat. Finding other sounds can be tough so i knocked it a point, but when you find them the memories are great and although some people have knocked the heel/recall feature, it really is a great addition to this pedal because no one wants to spend 15 minutes dialing in your settings right off the top of your head if your gigging. Also i knocked it a point for the pressure needed to activate the toe switch, its a bitch after using a dunlop forever

Sound Quality : 10
This is where the product really excels. After fiddling a little bit, you WILL find a huge variety of great sounds. I run a fender standard strat with lace sensors to the PW-10 through a couple BOSS stompboxes to a Digitech RP-1 to a Fender Stage 185. The Models are great, i have a few crybabys and have played vox and morley and this thing sounds just like a brand new dunlop, vox, or bad horsie and the Univibe is just great. Double-Res and that Voice feature are kinda wierd, definitely not part of my regular gig but sound great just the same. The onboard distortion can be tough to dial in but sounds very good and all of them are fairly good models of the originals. Personally i like the Guv'nor and the Turbo Overdrive but hey whatever floats your boat. Also the Advanced wah is very cool but again, not part of my regular thing.

Reliability : 10
Oh come on, its a Boss! Theres no pot so it wont get scratchy like a regular wah, will probably never need parts replaced, and never needs to be cleaned inside. All of you Dunlop fans know how fun cleaning an old wah pedal can be. I dont know if i would gig with it because its kinda tough to dial up stuff and would be a total bitch to do so while playing live. Oh and get an Adaptor, this thing will eat your batteries like no other.

I play grunge and do the occasional metal thing but i do everything back to hendrix, SRV, and neil young stuff, and this piece can hit some of that right on the head. Vox + Fuzz gives you a great hendrix tone and the Morley + Guv'nor or MT-2 gives you a fantastic metal lead. For blues, i dunno i never use wah in blues but the blues driver distortion is pretty smooth for a good blues overdrive sound. If this were lost or stolen i would definitely get another if i had the money but its an expensive piece for a wah pedal. The biggest thing i love about it is the quality of the wah and knowing that it isnt gonna just fizz out on me any time soon, if any time at all. The only thing i hate about it is the way you have to unplug the damn thing to choose the other settings, too many effects behind too few controls. Overall a fantastic pedal gives you 99 1/2 great sounds for only 150 bucks, and beats the hell out of any other wah on the market.

Bit of a curates egg this one! Sometimes the sounds are very good and sometimes I feel that there is something lacking. I have Morley and Cry Baby wahs and feel that in comparison the Boss lacks a little high end and also puts out a slightly hotter signal, certainly the Morley lacks high end and the Cry Baby seems slightly pumped up.
I have tried using it live but find the memory setting cumbersome and am annoyed that you cannot program the Type setting and the distortion to both come on at the same time (or am I missing something in the poorly translated manual that often repeats itself).
The voice and UniV settings are useful, though on the voice I would have prefered some options with just 2 vowel sounds rather than three as to my tastes there are only three or so of the options that are usable... one of which does a very usable Heil Talk Box impression if you stick to the toe down half of the pedal range.
I also don't like the fact that the distortion setting is global rather than assignable to the individual memory slots.
The fact that the knobs change function in the memory setting process is confusing as the drive knob becomes a volume control and the range knob cancels the memory operation altogether.
In the drive selection process the range becomes noise supressor level and the drive .... I'm still not quite sure despite what it says in the manual.
Basically you have to get the sound you want with the pedal (not by tweaking an existing memory slot) then store it to the memory location you want remembering to set the volume in the process.
If you just want to use it as a customisable Wah ease of use is 10
Otherwise

Guitars = Loads
Amps = Marshall Anniversary head $x12 and 2x12 cabs, Fender Hot Rod Deluxe, Session SS 1x12 combo 75w, Pandora and computer recording.
Its not noisy I'll give it that.
If you play with it you can get some good distorted wah sounds, Hendrix Voodoo Chile or Satch anyone?
The clean wah settings I find I am a bit unsure about but than I have probably been spoiled by experience of the originals. I find I spend most time with the advanced setting, range at 2 o'clock, or the Morley range 10 o'clock, or the Vox 10 o'clock with Big Muff distortion.

Seems rugged enough but I am not sure about battery life yet.
It must be pretty current hungry to need 6 AA cells rather than use PP3s

Never had a need to use their services but then I am not particularly hard on gear.

I play in a covers band playing some rock, blues, AOR, some pop tunes even a bit of funk! (No country and western though!)
I have been playing guitar for 30 yrs. and own a wide collection of guitars effects amps etc....I never sell anything. To be honest if it went missing the first thing I would do is look for something else.
I would be much better if it had another knob for distortion type and a switch so that you could have the distortion come on and off with the wah or just on the heel switch.

As has been stated, this is not for people who don't want to read the manual. This is probably the first Boss/Roland manual that was ever any good, and you NEED IT if you have no experience with the pedal. The unplugging of the adapter (which you need----6 AA batteries instead of a 9-volt! Dirty bastards! What are they? In bed with the battery companies?) to edit is kinda lame. I was surprised at the amout of flexibility of the pedal. Although I do blieve they were hasty in designing the editing functions. I played with it in the store for about an hour, going through almost every possible function before I decided to get it. As with most Boss/Roland products, you have to take time to learn it, but when you do you'll find out that it'll most likely do what you want it to. The forward "clean" switch is a little difficult. You have to practice stepping on it to find the right amount of pressure. Its different from the dunlops, morleys, etc. There is also a bit of "lag time" when changing patches and the sweep of the pedal seems a little smaller than most other wah pedals. They really forced a lot of features is a small space. Not enough to be a multi-effects unit, but way too many to be just a wah pedal. Its still cool, though.

Sound Quality : 10
THIS is where this product shines! I LOVE the modeling sounds. Adding the humanizer and the Uni-V were icings on the wah cake! If you like the humanizer effect, this is the best one to get. Its better than the one in my GT-3 AND better than the one on my AW-3 even though there's less control over the sounds. You get your money's worth on this effect alone. As usual, one of the little Boss/Roland secrets added to the product. The distortions are cool, but its purely a matter of tone taste as to whether you'll like it or not. I like the Metal Zone setting best for distortion. Its just my preference, though. You have some pretty good choices, though. As for the wahs...I finally felt like Boss got it right! I own a GT-3 as well and this pedal made me go back to the drawing board on programming a wah patch for my GT-3. Overall, I like the sounds, but once again if you don't spend time trying to fing your perfect setting, this pedal will dissappoint you. If you're looking for a plug-n-play pedal, this ain't it! The sounds are there, though. You have to take the time to find them. Trust me, they're there! The custom section was a nice lil' bonus, too! It even has a section for bassists! They were thorough. It sounds great. I have no sound complaints. Super clean!
I'm using a Fender Strat with a GT-3 effects processor and I'm running through an Ampeg SS-140C amp with 2x 12" celestions in it. I have a bunch of stompboxess and effects units, but I'm trying to minimize my set-up these days. Also, my strat has 2 Seymore Duncan Hotrail pickups (neck and bridge positions with a toggle on the bridge pickup for single/humbucker).
Honestly, this is the first wah pedal from Boss that I actually LIKE---a lot. I had the Dynamic Filter/EV-10 set up and their T-Wah & Autowah pedals (which were very cool), but THIS is the ONE! I don't feel like I'm missing something with these sounds. This is a really good studio pedal, too.

Reliability : 8
I tend to baby my equipment, so I may be a bit biased. Its Boss-solid! I'm a little bit concerned because I know that this is a modeling pedal, so there are more electronics to mess up in it, but I've had it for less than a month, so I can't say. I WILL say this, though. The first one I played on in the store had to go back bcause it was messed up. Test it before you buy it! For ME, its reliable. Haven't done a tour with it yet, though. Just various gigs. I'm still scared that it may turn on me, so I'm only gonna give it an 8 in this category. It IS COSM technology and not a REAL wah. If i have to be suspicious of it, it doesn't deserve a 9 or 10. Still, I have yet to encounter problems with it. They get ya with the 6 AA batteries thing. Its best to use the adapter (or another adapter of equal or LESSER pricing). Its worth the purchase just for the ease of programming, since you have to unplug the power and plug it in while holding the manual button to make most of the changes.

Customer Support : No Opinion
N/A---------so far----on THIS product. Anyone who has to deal with Boss/Roland for customer support has my blessing....you'll need it if you can ever get in touch with them! They build good stuff so you don't have to call CS much.

Overall Rating : 10
I play various styles from funk to metal. Getting funky on this pedal is as easy as sin. Aside from the power source issue (too many batteries), I really like this pedal. Soundwise, its the answer that I was looking for. Its solid and if I had to have just one pedal, this would be it. There are times when i don't like hauling my GT-3 around. For ME, this is the perfect pedal to have. If you're thinking of getting one of these (if you're reading this, you probably are, right?) make SURE there is a manual!!! The manual is ESSENTIAL to this bad boy! My favorite feature is the humanizer. Even though I use the wah MUCH more, I think they did a great job on the humanizer effect. I don't use the Uni-V at all, but its pretty good. Little things to know: You can use this pedal in two modes: one where you have 3 memory locations and the default and one where you can switch back and forth to just one (best for live applications). I like that. 2. The distortion choices and SOME instructions are on the bottom of the wah. This is one of the smartst pedals Boss has made in a long time if you ask me. Its got enough features to merit what I paid for it brand new. The biggest problem I have is getting used to the short sweep range of the pedal. (not soundwise - that's adjustable---the physical pedal) Its a lot shorter than the one on my GT-3. Stepping on the back switch takes a bit of getting used to at first. Overall, this is a sweet piece for me. I love wah and this pedal's full of 'em. I'm not saying its the end-all-be-all. Every pedal has its shortcomings; this one just has a lot less of 'em than others. If you just think of it as a wah pedal, you're getting way more than your money's worth. I may think otherwiseafter a few months of use, but for now its pretty damn good for what i use it for. If you're droppin' dat FONK, this pedal is the one to get.

First off this pedal is easy to use but not to program (Not User Friendly). If you are planing on using it live, think again. I like the sounds of the wah, overdrives and really like the rotovibe tones. But just wish I could use it live. The stupid kick back function is the worst, it would of been better if they put side kick on button. The manual is very helpful and will get you started quick.

Sound Quality : 10
I use a Mesa Boogie 50 watt rectoverb combo with a 89 PRS custom and 4 more PRS's and USA Fender Richie Sambora strat. The pedal is very clean when run in line and sounds are very good. The pedal will do just about everything you want and can get that VOX or Thomas Wah sound.

Reliability : 1
Well the first night I put it on stage to try it, it broke and the store I got it from sent it back to BOSS and BOSS could not tell is was not working right and sent it back to me broke. I then had them send it back again and this time they fixed it. The pedal is not good for live use and I would not recommend using night after night.

Customer Support : 2
Terrible!!! When a rotovibe sounds like a phaser and you can't tell, it's time to find a new job. I would never buy another one of these in fear that it might break again. I got it fixed but I should of not had to wait 3 1/2 months to get back. THE WORST!!

I am pro musician who has recorded 2 albums and toured the world for 20 years. I play mostly rock with a harder edge but love to play clean funky stuff. If this pedal was stolen I would not buy another and would not miss at it. It sounds good but, what good is it if you can't use live. :(

It is true that it's kinda tricky to get the best sounds. I still have to consult the manual sometimes (after 3 months!). The manual, however, is great. Received it in English and German.

Sound Quality : 9
My setup: Fender American Standard Strat => Bespeco Volume => Boss PW-10 => Boss SD-1 => Fender Hot Rod Deluxe (with Tom Scholz Power Soak; additionally Line 6 DL-4 in the effect loop); It is not noisy whatsoever, especially with the option of a true-bypass, which is the reason why I bought this Wah-Pedal. The modelings of the Vox-Wah and the Crybaby are brilliant. Most of the time I only use one of these and choose it manually on stage, so I don't have to mess around with any difficult programming measures. The distortion/overdrive sounds are very good (picked from the new GT-6), but I don't use them because the access is too difficult. And there's a great Uni-Vibe-Effect included as well as a kind of synthesizer-sound which I sometimes use to annoy the keyboarder of our band :-) You can get the sounds of the greatest Wahs of all time connected with a better technology (infrared) and feel (relatively short pedal way). However, 1 point off for the pressure you need to activate it (bad for the weaklings amongst us).

Reliability : 10
It is very sturdy, I would use it without any backup and in fact do it. Most of the time you read in this category: "Well, it's a boss!"

Never dealt with them. If I had to, I'm not sure whether there's a similarly good support in Europe compared to the US.

I play Blues-Rock, Funk and experimental music (electronic sounds). This pedal works great in every situation. Before, I used the Wah included in the Line6 Floorboard, which was also good but not that versatile. I have been playing for more than 7 years now and this is the best Wah-Pedal I've ever played. Would buy it again, although it is very expensive. I wished the sounds were easier to edit.

I've had this pedal for about two days now, and I'm having a lot of fun with it. Thiers a learning curve sure, but it's pretty easy to understand once you read the manual.

Thier some things I don't like though... They coulda made the manual/cycle effect mode easier to turn off/on (by using another selector switch, instead of having to unplug and all that...) Would probably make changing effect loops harder for gigs... thanks to the unpluging for doing any major changes. But the manual is great, and if you just want a multi-wah and don't wanna fiddle, it's great right out of the box!

Sound Quality : 10
My favorite line up for this wah at the moment has to be my Danelectro Hodad (with phase tap) running with no other effects on, right into my 80's Fender red knob Twin Reverb amp using the voice effect. It's kinda hard to control on the factory torque settings, but a 5mm hex key will solve that problem quickly.

I wish the distortion effects had more variation controls, but they are good and sound like what their trying to emulate. As with Boss distortion products, great sound!

The Uni-V effect is cool too, as is the wierd synth effects. I'm more into the wierd stuff...

ALSO, this is a great bass wah!

Reliability : 10
It seems reliable, and since I'm using a power supply, batteries are not a problem. I wouldn't need a backup, but thats because of my pedal setup...

I play a lot of surf, rock, ska, punk, blues, and jazz, and this wah covers me pretty good. I've become a big fan of the uni-v, double ressonance, voice, and Vox wah models.

I had to play with the pedal a bit to get what I like, but it's still good for the price.

My main guitar setup consists of: Danelectro Hodad, Fender stomp tuner, Boss V-Wah, Dunlop Crybaby, Danelectro Black Coffee, Boss Blues Driver, Boss Acoustic Sim, Boss Tremelo, Danelectro Cool Cat, Fender 80's Redknob Twin (or Vox AC-30)

I also run it with a bass setup: Ibanez SG5, Boss V-Wah, Yorkville 400 bass head running a 212 Harkte bass cab.

If it was stolen... I would hope I found it once again, or that I could get one for under $100, because I wouldn't buy a new one...I would buy a GT-6 :)

After spending a little time with the manual, and more importantly playing, you can get really good sounds. The factory settings are too loud, but easy to adjust. One real drawback is having to turn off the power to change overdrive/distortion modes, hence the 8.You will have up to four sounds ( five if you include bypass ).I usually use the Boss Turbo OD mode, can get close the sound of my TS-9 Tube Screamer.
The manual is good, but there are some typos. It is quite easy to edit patches opnce you catch on it.

Sound Quality : 9
This thing really sounds good. I play an American Strat into a Boogie Mark 1, which provides beautiful overdrive at volume, but I generally play at apartment/bedroom levels, so I must rely on pedals for distortion. I have a homemade pedal board with TS-9, Boss BF-2 Flanger, DD-3 delay, PH-2 Phaser, Fab-Tone, Ibanez Chorus and Boss TU-2 tuner and NS-2 Suppressor. The P-Wah gets along fine with all of it's new friends, but I often run it as my only pedal.Easier to drag around than the board. The versatility of the overdrive modes, wahs, and vibe is very good. It also has an internal noise suppressor which is very effective. When going into bypass mode there is an annoying pause during which it will step into the next mode, but with a little timing and twisting of your guitar volume knob, you can make the transition from brutal distortion to a clean sound.Gets docked a point for that. The Uni-Vibe model is pretty good, but it ain't the real thing, but close enough. The Marshall Guv'nor overdrive is quite good. I play mostly classic rock and this pedal has most of the sounds I want in it. The Double Resonance and Voice effects are really just a novelty.( For me anyway ).The Morely wah is my favorite, it works well clean and distorted. The Advanced Wah is good also. For the amount of gain you can run through this thing, it is very quiet. Going to dock it a point for not having more than 3 memory settings. Now if Boss could have included the DD-3 Delay into this pedal, it could be the only pedal you would need. But needing and wanting are two different things. We are guitarist's and will have as many toys as possible. Oh, the Crybaby model is pretty good also, just because it works ( I have two dead Crybabys, (may get them fixed some day).

Reliability : 10
Can you depend on it ?It's a Boss ! I don't gig at this time, but would certainly use it without worrying about a back up. Well, I would keep my Tube Screamer for overdrive close by, just in case. I do think it is more dependable wah than a Crybaby or a Vox.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Have never had any reason to deal with them.

Overall Rating : 9
Been playing off and on for 20 years, and have seen many guitars, effects and amps come and go. This is a keeper. If lost or stolen, I would defintly replace it. It is very cost effective for the effects it provides. How else could you even get half of the distorions, let alone the wahs for $150 bucks? Like I said above, I wish it contained some delay. This is a very good pedal to have.

As has been stated before, it's a fine enough wah to just stomp on it and be happy, but to really get the knack out of the thing, take your time with the manual. Adjusting wah type and range is easy and rather self-explanatory, the controls are much more user-friendly than in the Crybaby 535Q I used to have. I found the bypass solution rather impracticable, though, so my way around it was to program the normal ("manual") setting choosing the booster option instead of any OD/distortion (the factory setting is Metal Zone, which I have in my pedal board anyway), with Drive at practically zero. This comes close enough to the unaffected sound for normal ears, and there's still the three memory patches left for distortion settings. One thing I noticed in comparison with the Crybaby is that the PW-10 needs some real hard stompin'. No problem for most of you guys out there, I presume, but as a 60-kg woman I have to press the pedal down with my full weight to operate the toe and heel switches. But that's a matter of getting used to...

Sound Quality : 10
I play an Epiphone JA Riviera Deluxe & an Ibanez SA 160 through Boss HR2 Harmonist > SD1 Overdrive > MT2 Metalzone > PW-10 > Ibanez AD9 Delay > Boss RV3 Reverb > CE2 Chorus into a 1970's Mesa Boogie Amp and the different sounds of this wah fit in well. Roland's COSM system offers a very versatile array of sounds in excellent quality, and I haven't had any noise problems so far (haven't used the Wah at full volume yet). I really like the Advanced & Double Resonance sounds!

Reliability : 10
No Boss pedal has ever let me down...

I play psychedelic-influenced heavy rock/metal, sort of Jefferson Airplane meets Iron Maiden. In my band, we play mostly Sabbath/Metallica type stuff, and I think I'll use this wah much more extensively than I ever used the Crybaby (which was a good wah, but just not as versatile). I'd sure buy it again, but I won't let anyone steal it in the first place!

This device is very easy to use.
It took me just a cuple of minutes to figuer out how to use
and controll the wah range, distorsion and switching between the four
possibilities .
I only regreat that when you shift from one possebility to the other
you have to step on the pedal thowards you really hard and when you switch to distorsion and back to clean wah (no light/red light to green light) you end up with the advanced type wah even if it is on another, if you have really quick hand and feet it is no problem as i found out just takes a little practice beside that very easy.
i haven't dealt with the editing patches yet but the manual is very good and after a short reading time i understood how to do it.

It just doesn't get any better...
I am playing on a 96' Fernandes B.K fluid throw the v-wah+ MT-2 metal-zone by boss into a Marshll G30CD amp.
it sounds great i can play very soft things like eric clapton or i can play Hendrix using the the crybaby type wah , Metallicas' kirks' sound is also avalible using the metal zone combined with the v-wah and onward til any kind of metal you wish.
it is not noisey at all infact by using the inboard noise repressor iwas able to rase my gain and get a clear sound like in fade to black.
it is great....!!!!

it really helps me some of my bands' new songs are filled with wah and could not make ot with out it.

I will have to add this if you really looking for a wah for life that is great in any type of music and ready to spend some money this is the ultimate one none of the existing wahs surpasses it.

Ease of Use : 4

Ease of Use - 4 , Boss jammed ALOT of stuff behind too few controls. I got VCRitis.
I spent 3 hours checking it out, before deciding it was going back. That was enough time
for me to figure out the interface, audition the sounds, an performance test it.
I think the PW-10 would have benefited from a physical layout simular to Digitechs RP200.
The 3 modeled WAHs, Dunlop, Vox, & Morley, sounded closest to what I remember a WAH pedal sounding like,
but not different enough to spend the Mizerly 3 memory locations on them. This units
also supposed to have 8 different distortion models too. I did find some nice distortion
settings, but trying to change from one to another, even with a cheat sheet,
isn't something I'd try to do on stage. You have to UNPLUG the unit an hold down a button
to change the Function of the Knobs, to change the distortion type...
and if you do include distortion in a patch, you can't switch it on or off without reaching
down an twisting the drive knob, and you can't use the distortion with out a Wah ?
Also, I couldn't get the 2 second shut off to work realiably in memory mode.

Sound Quality : 7

Sound Quality - 7 , mostly because if theres great sounds in there, I couldn't find a way to use them.
though the UniVibe effect was my favorite of the bunch, and the double resonance was pretty cool,
none of them, including the 3 Modeled WAHs, filled the ache in my tone, left by my long lost crybaby.
I didn't find the talker usable on any setting, the vowels all seem jammed into a few degrees of pedal sweep.
I did find some nice distortions, but it drove me crazy that I could'nt switch them independently of the wah,
or shut the wah off an use the distortion, or use the pedal to control the drive or volume.

Reliability : 10
Reliability - 10 , well if construction is any indicator... I don't think I've ever seen
a more SuperDuty Pedal design. You might be able to bust a knob, if you drop it just right.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 6
Overall Rating - 6 , The more I thought about it, the more I realized how much Boss
put into this pedal, and why it didn't work for me. I've never seen an instance where
overloading a simple interface to support added functionality was worth the increase in complexity.
just look at the long list of VCRs , Cell Phones , Fax's and answering machines...
somebody took the time to program them, an most nobody else takes the time to figure them out.
In this instance, that functionality is for a musician, in a performance setting ?
Possibly a case of mis-expectation, that might be eliminated by advertising the design targets.
the PW-10 CAN do alot, but the interaction of its controls and functions severly limit its
capablities in operation .
