Ease of Use : 10

It's a basic stompbox setup...three knobs: Tone, Level and Distortion. The tone knob is very rangey for a cheap box...a small turn makes a big difference. The level could be a little beefier, but otherwise the pedal sounds wonderful.

Sound Quality : 9
I'm a bass player (and a former music store employee), and I wanted somthing that would give me a booming fuzzy tone for drive sections without killing my bottom end. I tried about 30 different pedals at several local stores before deciding on this one...It was neck and neck between this and a Big Muff, but the Big Muff ate too much tone...I feel like my bass through this pedal still sounds like my bass, and not just the pedal like the Big Muff did...

My only negative was a slightly louder than usual hum for a distortion when not playing, but I use a noise suppressor to drive my pedals, and that solved everything

Reliability : 9
It's not a boss pedal (in other words, It doesn't double as a hammer), but it is well built, I have had it for 4 years and the switch is still perfect. The side opening battery door also avoids the most common breaking point for cheap pedals...It's been great...

Customer Support : No Opinion
Well...I don't know if it's fair for me to answer this one, since I know more about gear than nearly anyone who has ever sold me anything...I've been out of retail for more than 3 years now, and my phone rings from ex-customers turned friends who consult me for my opinion on stuff...And yes, I was a Sam ASh Employee

Overall Rating : 10
This fit the bill better than boxes costing ten times as much...Even the botique bass over drives and distortions didn't compare to this. I have a Sunn 1200s and a 4 x 10 cab for my main rig and the tone is wonderful...

it is simple three knobs distortion, tone level.

Sound Quality : 7
just plug your guitar in to the input and your amp in to the out put. and turn the knobs. the distortion it puts out is ok for a cheap pedal.

Reliability : 6
its made of metal and plastic I would use to gig with ( don't stomp on it.) the little knob can brake off I think

Customer Support : No Opinion
never dealt with brownsville if it broke or something i would not try to contact brownsville

Overall Rating : 8

Ease of Use : 10
there's only three dials man..... distortion, tone, and level.... if you don't know how to use those you don't have any business buying a distortion pedal in the first place

Sound Quality : 10
This pedal has unbelievable bottom end. I'm running my B.C. Rich Bronze Warlock streight into my Brownsville, streight into a Crate 2X12 Vintage Club Tube combo. Theoretically, bass before tube amp equals mud. WRONG. The bass on this distortion pedal simply destroys the dirty channel of this amp... no comparison. There was no more noise than usual coming out of my setup, though my setup is quite noisey. Perfect pedal for any style of metal, and with the tone cranked to high, it would be perfect for any style of punk too.

Reliability : 8
I haven't had it long. The only complaint i have is the fact that the switch on it is ultra sensative. If you get too close to it the darn thing switches over... but maybe that's an operator malfunction? Possibly. The unit seems sturdy enough, I would gig with it without a backup....

I play Death Metal, and rock and roll (strange mix). I've been playing for four years and i've known another guitarist who owned one and it worked great for him. I do believe that i would buy this one again in a milesecond.... the sound is just the greatest i've ever come across....

The sound is superb with the twiddle of a knob or two.

Sound Quality : 10
I use this pedal with a fender telecaster [standard]. the noise is very very low and the effects are very thick and heavy. the music produced has the mogwai / godspeed you black emporer! style of slow [with no dist.] to heavy distortion and this pedal kicks out some mean crunch. very very good.

Reliability : 10
truly reliable

never had to call...

Tone - Volume - and Gain thats it...

Sound Quality : 7
I use a ESP/LTD H-100 with this pedal. It has a good crunchy sound but the tone knob needs some work turn, it all the way to LOW and it gets this Amp In A Tin Can sound...

Reliability : 8
It's made of metal and plastic...
Step on it don't jump on it...

Never fooled with them...

I got this thing to use on my Drop-D stuff and it works well... Just watch out for that tin can sound...

3 knobs.yeah,easy to use.

Sound Quality : 9
Sounds pretty good. Will do for metal. However,I use it with Gibson Explorer and when the bridge pickup(500T) is on,it doesn't handle it and goes mute during open strikes.Doesn't happen when you run both pickups at the same time but still...overall,good

Reliability : No Opinion
looks ok

Easy as hell to use. There's only three knobs so it doesn't take a Rocket scientist to figure it out. I keep the tone and distorion at half way and just have to adjust the level so its even with the amp. Easy as shit, you know what I mean

Sound Quality : 10
Sounds great. Very thick distortion from it. It sounds like the distortion from Soundgarden's "Outshined", which is a bitching song. I don't get any noise from it, that comes mostly from my guitar.

Reliability : 8
It seems very realiable. It will last if you don't beat the shit out of it. I'd probably use it without a back up, I don't know if you would or not.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had to deal with the company. I think its made by the same people who make Rogue's pedals, I don't know.

Overall Rating : 10
Overall, I find it great for heavy distortion. I have this, a Boss DS-1, and a DS-2 all in my chain. I have them set to all different settings, this is probably the thickest distortion. I play what I feel, not much metal, and this works well. If it does break, I will buy another one. For $20, what the hell.

Very easy to use, knobs for distortion, tone, and level. The tone control is very versatile, not like your conventional filter knob. It actually brings out characteristics in the sound instead of just dulling or sharpening the sound.

Sound Quality : 10
Here is the great part about this pedal: It sounds awesome!!! It sounds so huge, like you have 10 amps going at once all around your room! Distortion is thick, smooth with just enough chunkiness, and has a great low end growl. It sounds like a Boss Turbo Distortion merged with a Big Muff. Like I mentioned, the tone control is very useful, but takes a day or so to get used to. Great sounding, definitely my fave pedal. I play an Ibanez guitar thru a Brownsville Thug, which is solid state so you can imagine what it sounds like through a tube amp. If this sounds glowing, sorry, but this pedal is the greatest. I play punk/hardcore, but this thing will work for anyone really.

Reliability : 8
Pretty solid, now made of metal, but the metal is not as heavy as a Rat pedal but still sturdy. I wouldn't stomp the crap out of this thing though, but hey its only 20 bucks anyway. I would definitely use without a backup.

Customer Support : 10
Bought from Sam Ash, who is pretty much the only Brownsville dealer I know of. Their service is excellent and their prices can't be beat, so.... 10

Overall Rating : 10
I play stuff like Rancid, MxPx, a little Blink 182, and a lotta hardcore like Black Flag, Circle Jerks. While this only really nails MxPx's sound, you can use it for everything except blues, especially metal (which is what this pedal is geared towards anyway.) It's an incredible deal, much better than any other distortion device pricewise and maybe even soundwise. Keep rockin---

easy as s**t to use. plug it it, get your settings, and go.

Sound Quality : 10
thickest distortion I've heard from a stompbox. kicks serious ass. I used it with an amp I found in the trash and it still sounds great. Must sound phenominal thru a good amp. Even with all the settings at half way it sounds awesome.

Reliability : No Opinion
It seems reliable, but it is made of plastic, so I don't know how it will hold up over time. If you don't stomp the shit out of it it will last.

Customer Support : No Opinion
don't know. I've owned the pedal for three days.

Overall Rating : No Opinion
Over all, it's a good distortion. Not into metal, so I can't say if it is a good pedal for playing Earth Crisis or anything like that. It's good for just great distortion. I would buy it again if it broke. Best distortion I've heard for the lowest price I sen. It is a great deal for $20. Oh, yea. Black Sabbath isn't a metal band, they're demented blues.
