Terribly easy to use, only three knobs. Delay (adjusts delay time from almost doubling your sound to 600ms, plenty for me by the way), blend (how much of the wet signal you want in your tone) and repeats (from barely anything to almost infinite). Single page of paper detailing how to use the pedal, short, sweet and to the point. A features rating will always be subjective. Some players simply like pedals or other devices with 7000 different knobs and some like them with one or none. But FOR ME, it's a 10 on features as I'm a minimalist.

I'm currently using this pedal through my Fargen Olde 800 being driven by my Music Man Axis Super Sport. First off, the pedal sounds wonderful and useful on all settings. I've actually considered buying a second one so I can have one set short and one set long (delay time that is). If you're into ethereal/psychedelic/trippy sounds, this pedal will suit you very well. If you're into some nice slap back for some surf rock or chickin' pickin' it'll please you as well. It's very organic and transparent, to my ears never adding any coloration to my tone... maybe a touch of compression though. I'm not totally sold on pumping it into the front end of a dirty amp, I think it would probably sound better in an effects loop (but my amp doesn't have one, so I couldn't confirm that) as most effects of this ilk would. It does sound awesome AFTER a dirt box though. Thankfully, that's how it'll be used most of the time. I'm going to give this one a 10 for me. I hate that it's a single setting pedal, but it's one awesome setting!

It comes in a nice beefy aluminum case with a solid feeling switch and smooth tapering knobs. I'm not sure what type of finish it is, but it's very nice. Blue, smooth and transparent. The lettering, I believe, is silk screened... but not very well. I'm not really worried about that though. I just want it to sound good. Aesthetics usually aren't a big concern for me. I've had it for about a month now and can't stop stomping on it. My little boy got a hold of it one day, and he had fun. I have no doubt that, now that I keep it far from his reach, it will last as long as I want it to. Thus, a 9.

Chad is the all time heavy-weight champion of the universe of customer service. At first I had ordered one of his 'Butah' pedals. When I got that one it had a black residue on the bottom that looked like old adhesive from velcro. I promptly emailed Chad and asked if he'd sold me a used pedal (if he had I probably wouldn't have been very nice to him). He asked me if the residue was black and where it was on the pedal. I reinspected the bottom of the pedal and found residue ALL OVER the bottom of the pedal. I relayed that to Chad and he was all apologies. Apparently he makes pedals and sells them in Japan as well under a different brand name. He told me he puts that black goo on his circuit boards for that brand (to preserve his circuit designs I suppose) and must have accidentally sat my pedal in it. He offered me a full refund and any pedal I wanted from his line! I was flabbergasted to say the least. It was very fortunate for me as I really don't dig the 'Butah' anyway. I told him I didn't feel right accepting a refund for something so minor, especially when I can just trade the pedal back in. I sent back the 'Butah' and got the Deeelay in return. This man is THE standard for customer service, no arguments will ever sway away from that knowledge.

I play whatever sounds fun at the time. Right now it's some blues and a little bit of rockabilly. I've tried a good bit of other delays in the past, but most of them were far to digital sounding for me to actually want to use them. This thing is studio AND stage quality. I only wish I had another one! It definitely makes me want to play more, just to experiment with what I can make it do. First rate pedal.

heres where the deeelay takes the cake!!
it sounds analogish in that there is a little high end roll off on the repeats but it has the overall clarity of a digital pedal and is totally noise free.ive used loads of delay pedals (boss dd2,dd3, dan echo, memoryman with hazarai etc) and this is the keeper ,,,,period!
i tend to find analog delays especially the dm2 and similar to be too dark sounding and the repeats dont sound anything like the original tone and just sound like a muddy sludge underneath what im playing....i cant rate the sound of this pedal higher

The sound quality is very transparent with no noise and that means alot to me. I have a very quite rig setup and entend to keep it that way. I have the Deeelay pedal in my effects loop with an Ernie Ball volume pedal and tuner. This stops the signal loss form the tuner to the preamp section of your amp. My effects loop is ajustable so it will compensate for it. I play a Fender Strat Deluxe w/ noiseless pups and a Mesa Boogie Stiletto Ace. I put KT's in the power section and a Weber Blue Dog replaced the stock speaker. That was a good move.In the effects chain I have a Keeley Katana Boost,Jetter GSR, xotic BB preamp and a love Pedal Eternity. I use the Deeelay because I like it way better than reverb. A real key to the sucess of your setup are good cables all the way through the chain, good quality pedals and a good quality amp and guitar. This pedal has no problems getting you that big open monster sound like Dan Huff, Steve Lukethur and Gordan Kennedy.

I've played for 30 years and like most of you out there I've went through my share of equipment. Currently I gig once a week. I've tryed the cheaper stuff but came away disapointed. If you are looking for your own sound do your research and buy good equipment you'll never look back. I play all styles of music but like the rock, country stuff the best. I replaced a Boss DD3 with this one and when I heard the difference I put the Boss in my box of misfit toys. I don't think that you would be disipointed at all in the Deeelay. A very top end pedal.

I have the new 600ms version. 3 knobs, just plug it in, set it to the speed, depth and repetition, and let it go. Nothing but sweet, clear transparent magic. From day one I was able to set the sound i want. Change styles and just dial the new one in.

This is where this pedal shines most. This pedal is honestly dead quiet. First off, when turned off, it is true bypassed, all the sound, and tonal qualities of your guitar and other effects play right through. But the biggest difference is seen when this pedal is turned on, especially when comparing it with other delay pedals. The biggest problem I have with Boss DD pedals, or any other mass produced pedal, is the background noise they create. There is always hum and hiss in the background, especially when you crank up the volume or gain. Most likely from lower quality parts. I use two T-rex Fuel Tank Juniors, with isolated power for every pedal, so I know its not a ground loop but rather the pedal that would make the noise.
The reason why any added noise is an issue to me is because I love to use my '65 Vox tube Pacemaker. Modified into an Amp head powering a customized 212 cab with a Celestion Vintage 30 and a Celestion G12H30. Nothing but sweet clean sound out of it. Its an old workhorse Class A tube amp, and as we all know, old class A's can have a bit of noise when cranked.
The CMATMODs Deeelay uses nothing but high quality parts in it, and it shows. When played clean the pedal is extremely transparent, even when all the knobs are cranked to full. No coloration of the sound, what you play is what you hear, over and over again! Add some nice overdrive, the sound come clear. Add some thick sweet distortion, no extra hiss or hum added if the distortion pedal is a noisy one.
As for the sound features, with 600ms you can get plenty of delay. 0.6 seconds of delay is more than enough for the music I play. Not as much as a T-rex Replica, but it has the warm analog sound found in the Replica for a fraction of the price. And its all digital, so its definitely reliable. I can get a nice room filling echo sound, or get perfect sounding Pink Floyd with a switch of the knob. Cant ask for more than that. I honestly just leave this pedal on all the time.
Friends have tried this pedal, loved the warm rich sound out of it, asked how much it was and either gone out to get one or is considering changing to one.

Not only those this pedal sound amazing, and let you dial different sounds, from subtle echo to never ending repeats, but it gives you what you ask from it; nothing but the same signal and sound that you fed into it repeated. No coloration or muddied up sound. And then there is the price. $139, what more can you ask from a handmade pedal. To be honest i am more than surprised at the price of this pedal. I would expect the pedal to be at least $175 for its quality. After playing this pedal Im considering buying a Signa Drive. IF you take anything out of my review of this pedal, Bang for buck this pedal is indeed a 10- Fantastic Value.

I received my Deeelay today, and after trying it out for only about ten minutes, I simply had to write a review and tell you this is simply the best delay unit I have ever heard. I might want to qualify that:
I have been playing 40 years as of this June, and I have owned new and vintage MXR digital and analog delays, EH Memory Men, Maxxon vintage pieces, original EchoRecs and Fulltone Tube Tape Echos, and that stupid Line 6 thing. I also owned a commercial recording studio with high end effects gear, produced dozens of radio shows, and even got put on an airplane once or twice to make a mess of playing guitar at some big venue.
In all that time, I have never heard anything that so precisely preserves the chime and tone of the original signal, without the repeats being too dark or too bright or too mushy or too ???something???, making the whole mess sound like a pile of crap. This is as professional a piece as you can get anywhere in my opinion.
I don???t know what sort of magic ear or industrial strength chipset Chad uses, but he is definitely on the right track. I plan to order another so I can use a couple of different setups, just as soon as I get up the scratch???
As others have noted, this is a general purpose delay, if you are looking for 5 second loops go elsewhere - but to spice up that solo or rythm track, you simply cannot do better at any price.

''As someone wrote it gets distorted at echo volume past 300 ms.
So if you try to get something past that it's nice but the echo sounds slightly distorted.More like a glitch than anything.
Still very playable. But nowhere near the T-REX REPLICA.
And it's OK cause it's 3 times the price.
You can do spaceship effects, wich is cool.
All around it's good for slapback and fast delay times. It does the longer echo great too...believe me, but with that slight glitch.

I have owned and used just about every delay pedal that's on the market. I have searched for an affordable delay that sounds good for 25 years! This delay sounds as good as all those great guitar recordings we all hear, and wonder how can we can capture that delay sound in a live setting. This delay sounds very natural and does not get in the way of your playing. I could go on and on. I give it a 10.

Very easy to get a great sound. I love pedals that have specific tonal targets or ranges. Though the delay can go to 600ms which is far more than I need, but as long as I don't use extreme settings it is quite usable. I do need to change my settings from slapback to a longer delay during a set which I hate, but that's the only time I have to touch any of my pedals.

There is not much to say here other than Chad Matthews has nailed the delay sound I was looking for. I was not looking for 4 seconds of delay ala the Edge, just enough to give texture and depth to my overall tone. I???ve learned that a little delay usually goes a long way, unless you are into the whole U2 thing. If you are looking for delay up to 4 seconds this is not your pedal. The Deeelay is more subtle. The tone is warm and full like an analog pedal, although it is not sold as an analog pedal. I???m not sure what more I can add other than this is a great pedal at a fraction of the price tag for one of the big name boutique offerings. Jump on these now because once discovered they are going to demand a higher price.
My setup can run from extensive to basic depending on the range of music I like to play. I'm partial to classic rock, blues and contemporary Christian music. I play either a 1976 Les Paul standard or a 1992 Fender Strat with Fralin Blues Specials pickups. My amps are a THD BiValve or a Peavey Classic 50/410 that has been upgraded with some Weber alnico speakers. My old standby is a 1974 Peavey Vintage Twin Reverb that is all original except for upgraded Weber alnico speakers. The THD is played into a old school Silvertone 2x12 cabinet with Celestion Alnico Blues. In the tube department I'm a big fan of NOS or OS tubes. The new Chinese or Russian offerings just don't have the same mojo. On the pedalboard the chain looks like this: Boss NS-2>Boss tuner>CMATMODS Ross Clone Compressor>Fulltone FatBoost>CMATMODS Buttah>Menatone Red Snapper OD>Menatone Blue Collar OD>Boss EQ>Lil Alligator volume>Boss CE-2 Chorus>JD Lauering Tremolo>CMATMODS Deeelay. Most of the time I running compression, some form of overdrive and delay.

When I was looking for an upgrade to my digital delay pedal I did plenty or research looking for an analog pedal. When sticker shock steered me away from mass produced, overpriced and in my opinion overhyped pedals, I took a serious look at the Deeelay. I???m glad I did. The online sound samples are helpful to get a nice taste of the pedals capabilities. It was so good I promptly went out and bought Chads Ross clone compressor too (see my review). The reviews were helpful on this website and I found other users on a variety of guitar user forums raving about this pedal. I have been playing for about 32 years and have had the opportunity to try an number of pedals but this one will be my last, it???s that good. Why keep searching when you???ve found your nirvana? If lost or stolen I would buy another in a heartbeat. One last note about the cosmetics of the pedal. My pedal was a dark metallic navy blue. Chad does not do fancy or eye-catching text or decals on the pedal. He just writes with a black sharpie below each knob its function. I went a step further and had some fun making a logo and adding text with white decal paper. It turned out pretty nice. The paper and supplies will run you under $10. You may want to do the same. Anyway seriously give this pedal a listen at the website and buy another of Chad???s pedals instead of giving it away for some boutique pedal manufacturer. You will be glad that you did. I know I am.

I'm using a variety of guitars, single coil and humbucker equipped, through a variety of amps, solid state and tube. This is by far one of the best delays I've ever used. It's not fancy in any with any full color graphics or even a fancy name. But what this pedal does to your sound is amazing. I remember the first time I brought this pedal down to rehearsal (I've had it about a year now), the compliments I was getting from my bandmates how it doesn't get buried in the mix and how "clean" sounding it is. I think that's the most remarkable aspect of this pedal is how it doesn't clutter up your tone like some other delays do. Also, it's totaly quiet, no hums or hiss at all. I'm totally happy with this pedal and cherish it like it's gold!

If something ever happended to this pedal, I would contact the builder and get another immediately. I know I've given all 10's here but honestly I can't find anything I don't like about this pedal or wish it had. Signal chain is: Fender USA 57 RI Strat w/ 62 RI neck (Jumbo frets & Texas Special pickups) to: Sweet Sound MoFaux Vibe -> Keeley TS-808 (rhythm) -> Keeley TS-808 (lead) -> Dunlop Crybaby Classic -> Keeley Compressor -> Xotic RC Booster -> CMATMODS Deelay to: 1966 Fender Twin Reverb (JJ tubes).
This delay is exactly what I was looking for. Warm analog sound, compact size & runs on 9volt power. I'm a "set it & forget it" kind of guy. I don't need tap tempo or a buch of variations on the sound, just a good sounding delay I can use to fatten up my sound a bit. Use it mostly like a faint echo in the background (don't really notice it's on, but definitely notice when it's not).
One concern I had was the lack of a level control. Since I would set this pedal at unity volume anyway I was very pleased to find no noticable change in volume whether pedal was on or off (and no change in tone thanks to the true bypass switch).
This pedal is capable of much more than I use it for. Just tweaking the knobs a bit I was able to get that classic U2 delay thing going & a little more produced a nice hall style reverb. I really didn't notice any noise at any settings.

Been playing 20+ years. Started out with Punk & Thrash in my teens and now play old man music (blues & roots style).
Would prefer the jacks to be on the top of the pedal instead of the sides but I have that complaint about all my pedals.
In the past I've owned: Line 6 DL-4 & T-Rex Replica. Both sounded good enough but... both are too big (especially the DL-4), both used "specialty" wall warts & were both very overpriced (especially the T-Rex).
The CMATMODS Deelay is NOT a pretty pedal, but it is a very good sounding and user friendly pedal at a very reasonable price. It is perfect for my needs.

Straight forward pedal. Knobs are close together so that you have a compact "no step" area on your pedal board unlike other pedals that render half the pedal a delicate area. This pedal is a no BS pedal without costly bells and whistles. The maker custom configured mine to fit my pedalboard at no extra charge. Comes with standard DC in jack for use with standard pedalboard power supplies. Slim design makes for a compact pedal that doesn't take up much real estate. No manual needed. Nice bright led.

I use this with a Gibson LP Studio with P94's through a Mesa Nomad 55 combo. My pedal setup is EH POG, Holiest Grail, Black Finger and Wiggler. Also a Vintage Maestro phaser, and a few other utility pedals. This pedal is not noisy at all. The repeat knob will self oscillate if wanted, there is a bit of distortion noted when in self oscillation mode that may be desirable or undesirable - definitely not the best/worst distortion ever. Analogness is not to drastic - which is a good thing IMO. The notch at the high roll off isn't too exaggerated and is very smooth. The best thing about this pedal IMO is that the blend knob's 50/50 point is right at 12 oclock, and the dry tone is completely unaltered. If there was a 9.5 rating i'd do that because of the distortion on the oscillation mode, but since my Holiest grail does that very well, i didn't get this pedal for that purpose.

Only had it a week but if the maker follows up as fast as he has with order and construction, then i'm sure it's stellar support.

I play rock music and this pedal is great for getting digital verbs to warm up and smooth out, also great for ambient delays. 13 years playing and recording. I'd definitley buy again. Best pedal for the money with true bypass.

it sounds very good but at the longest delay times there is a little fuzziness around the delayed note. Chad told me this is a function of the design and is the trade-off for the analog like sound. Once you get down to about 300 ms, about where an analog would be, it disappears.

Chad answered my e-mails extremely quickly and was very helpful. I'm sure that would continue if I ever had need.
I wish this category had an 11

for the price it is a very, very nice delay. Sure, I'd like to have an expensive analog, but I can't justify that at this time.
I would buy another in a second.

conventional delay set up. Delay length, blend and repeats. These are labeled with a sharpie (D, B, and R) but it's easy enough to figure out. 9 volt dc input jack. true bypass.

My chain is EJ strat>>fulltone mini-vibe>>keeley katana boost>>keeley modded ts-9>>maxon 0d820>>maxon sd-9>>analogman bicomp>>cmatmods deeelay. From there it goes into a Victoria 35310 tweed Bandmaster clone.
This pedal rules. Plain and simple. I bought this as a temporary replacement for my analog carl martin Delayla, which isn't made anymore, and I think that this pedal is superior in every way. everything from slap-back up to 500ms of delay time is available and let me tell it is true and WARM delay, with no clock whine from any precious bucket brigade chip. As you can see from my pedal board, I have spent a ton of cash on well made pedals, and this pedal stands proudly along side them. I think this cmatmods guy is going to be the new keeley or analogman here shortly. Not to slag either of those, but this box is homemade and looks homemade- but it sounds great. I can forgo the candy-apple red finish and two color silk-screen and save the extra 150 bucks for another pedal.
I've only had this pedal for about a week now, but being a delay fiend of sorts, I knew right away that this pedal is something special. I would put this in the t-rex replicator category for sound quality. The replicator does more stuff (tempo tap-midi control)but I think this pedal may have it beat in the headroom department. The Replicator is the only other digital pedal that I would ever let near my pedal board, but it costs well over 350 bucks (maybe more, I have'nt checked recently.)
This is not only a bargain, but a gem-worth more to my ears than the 122.00 I paid for it.

This is a very simple pedal to use. Just the 3 standard nobs you would find on most any delay: Delay, Repeat, Volume. The size of it is quite small, which is nice 'cause I like to pack everything into a small pedalboard.

This pedal is GREAT! For the money I have not heard anything that comes even close. I play a Fender Jazzmaster and Gibson 335 into Fender Tube Combos. I go for the Space Rock, Trippy stuff normally, but like most all styles. I am a delay junky so I have/had many of the standards: Boss dd 2 & dd3, Analogman dd3, Maxon ad-900, H&K Replex, T-rex Replica, DLS Echotap, Diamond Memory Lane, SPF I5, Toadworks Redux, Guyatone MD2 and a Roland Space Echo. Of these pedals the DLS Echotap and Diamond Memory Lane are my fovorites. I prefer tap tempo. But This little thing is actually up there with them in sound quality. It is Very warm, Very Analog like. If I didn't have a great Analog to compare it to, I would never know that it was digital. In a band setting people wouldn't know. Like the web site says what goes it is what get repeated. I have encountered no unwanted noise at any volume with it.
For anyone that doesn't need tab tempo, wants a warm, analog like delay and doesn't want to pay an arm and a leg, this beats any other delay pedal I have used under $200. Of course there are times you might want the crispness/harshness of digital or the noise of a real analog but for everything else this pedal is hard to beat.
