I dont like the pan controls. even the slightest turn of the knob makes the track almost go completely to one side or the other. It takes a while to figure out how to use this program as well. It could have been made alot simpler. I still havent figured out all the things that can be done with this program. I guess im still learning through experimentation.

Sound Quality : 8
The effects are AWFULL but i have my own effects that i preffer anyways. I use a digitech rp1 effects processor which is actually pretty noisy..... i also record with an 8 track tape multitrack recorder and i can take the ideas from the tapes and record them to this program which is realy cool. The sound quality is actually pretty decent once you play around with the levels in the final mix.

Reliability : 7
I have had some drop out problems while recording. it has actually happened a few times and it can get a little annoying. It didnt create a mp3 file on a couple occasions as well. It transfered too fast and didnt work.... but this has only happened twice.

Ive tried all sorts of music styles and it seems to work well for any style. I would definately buy this program again. I love the fact that you can turn the wav file into an mp3 file and share it with your friends online. I tried many other similar products and they either didnt work with windows xp or they were noisy as hell, or they just didnt do a good recording. I wish it had a built in drum machiene and i wish that i could just take the verse from the song and move it around instead of having to play the song all the way through. Maybee i havet discovered how to do this yet. I also wish that there were some decent effects. Lets face it the effects are very weak. Any noise that i get can be blamed on my own gear. Buzzing amp or guitar, hiss from the 8 track tape player etc. A very good product for the price. Definately not just for recording guitar tracks.

Pretty easy to use but still offers alot for the money. instructions can be hard to understand sometimes.

First off, let me state that this is being reviewed under guitar effects. I know that I wanted all guitarist to see this so I didn't put it under computers and music. If you're like me, you dont go there often for reviews, I gather mostly keyboard junkies go there. this thing rocks. i havent tried the amp simulator yet (using line out from a boss me-8 with amp simulator) but the guitar sound to disk is not overly compressed and little nuances of playing like slides and harmonics come through just great. the drag and drop drummer is much better than using a drum machine and having to quantize and all that crap. always seem to be able to find the right pattern or fill. its easy to put a crash where i want to or a hi hat, or snare shot. it has great hi hat stuff on it.and the drum sounds are pretty good as well. nothing fancy, i.e. marimbas and clappers, etc. just good basic tones. if you want more, you can get plug ins from cake walk.

I use this to record ideas for a group of guys that i just jam with for fun. we play everything from S.R.V. style to SATRIANI and STEVE MORSE style of fusion. this is the easiest way to lay down my ideas that i have ever found. no more having to program drum machines and then mess with a four track that is a pain to punch in and out with, (this thing uses markers that you can set up for punching in and out, very cool, look ma, no hands!) if you have a decent computer at home with a good sized hard drive, i would highly recomend this software.
