4 knobs, pretty easy to get the effect you want. The tone only effects the echo. Keep it on top of my amp so it`s easy to operate.
Keep it on most of the time. The battery is very easy to replace, but I use external power because I believe this one sounds better that way.

Sound Quality : 9
I am amazed by all the 10`s given in the reviews, and I`m sure there is always a better product out there. That said, and consider the price of the Red Repeat, and that it is the only thing I have ever owned that I`m 100 % satisfied with,(and I`ve had a lot of stuff since the mid 60`), I would have to give it at least a 9.
I use mine in the loop of my Mesa Lone Star Classic and noise is not an issue.

Reliability : 9
I feel I can depent on it and I do not feel that I need a backup.

I have contacted Carl Martin in Denmark by e-mail twice. Not regarding this product, but about another Carl Martin product I have.
The first time they replied within 3 hours and the second time they replied within 15 mins. It`s not easy to top that.

Overall Rating : 10
Been playing since the mid 60`and has been playing only blues, rock and heavy rock, because it`s the only thing I do somewhat decent.Have a few amps, guitars and effects, but most of the time I use the Mesa LS C and a MM EB John Petrucci. I have several stomp boxes including tube screamers,pre-amps,phasers and flangers. I try to keep things as simple as possible, and the Red Repeat the only thing that is always in the chain.
I have tried a couple of echo and delay units over the years, but I have not compared this one to other products, it just sounded good to me. If it was lost, stolen or broken I would buy a new one a.s.a.p.

This thing has a great analog feel and sound. It looks retro, but not schlock retro. Retro in a functional kind of way. For me, an effect not only has to sound right, it also has to be easy to work with my feet. This is where these new Carl Martin Vintage pedals have the others beat. Voodoo Lab pedals are similar in this way. Big knobs with some space between them and a slightly bigger footprint than many other pedals. I favor analog units over digital because they don't usually have hyper-sensitive controls. This is as smooth and intuitive as any pedal I've ever used. After you figure out a particular setup to get a sound you?re looking for, it only takes a few seconds to dial it in again, because the obvious visual knob positioning makes the settings very easy to set from memory.

The sound is just as good as the ergonomics. The tone knob allows me to brighten the echo a bit, something I like, but most people don't. You can also use the tone knob to go as dark as you need, which many people say is what they look for in a delay unit. Bottom line is that you have the ability to do either using the Tone knob. This pedal has 600ms of delay, which for me is plenty. Slapback Rockabilly, Power Ballad, Surf, whatever, they all sound very natural. Great sounding pedal.

I don?t know how long it will last, since it?s a new product. But it is cast metal, and it?s a brick. Throw it at the wall and I?ll bet the wall won?t come out ahead. Chicken head knobs feel solid, like from your grandmother?s oven. I?m not quite as sure about the switch. It?s metal, so I have no reason to doubt it, but I haven?t opened the unit up to see if the switch is hand-wired separately from the circuit board or if it?s integral, which would affect reliability. Someone else can comment on that one. Ialso am not crazy about the way the ?? plugs feel as they go into the jacks, but hey, in my pedalboard, you only have to do that once, so I?m fine with it. I?m not sure I?d want to plug them in and out a lot. The jacks may be suspect, though I think they?re probably fine. I don?t know about battery life because I power the unit externally. BTW, it comes with a free battery, which I guess will go in my smoke detector.

Customer Support : No Opinion
The company is in Denmark, so I have no idea what would happen if I sent it for repair.

Been playing for 32 years. I play many kinds of progressive music (Steve Morse/Dregs, Liefson/Rush, Petrucci, Hellecasters, Marc Antoine), though unfortunately nearly not as well as they do. But I refuse to give up. As I said above, my favorite things about this pedal are the natural analog sound and the ergonomics. You can do everything from slapback to spacey to spooge (the all out Echoplex regenerative ?swell?---why you?d want that, I?ll never know). But there?s absolutely no stress factor in getting to any of these sounds. Totally effortless. This pedal is every bit worth the money, and I'll bet it ends up becoming a classic. Stupid as it sounds, I love being able to control effects with my feet. In fact, I?m tempted to dump my Danelectro and DOD pedals in favor of other foot-friendly effects, so I never have to bend over again. Fit/finish and ruggedness are the only things that may be slightly less than perfect, but to be honest, if I knew that the switch was wired and not integral to the circuit board (don?t know yet), I?d go with a 9 or 10 there too. Finally, I have to admit that I?m a sucker for retro stuff, as long as it is done with some taste, which is not usually the case with retro. These CM Vintage pedals look real nice, chicken-headed toe-controls and all.

The delay is simple by a modern standart.
That is why I bought it.
Echo, Tone, Time, Repeat and a on off switch.

Sound Quality : 9
I got the delay for my second setup, a Bassman top brownface with a 2x12 cab closedback with Jensens.
Use this setup in a Jeff Beck and Yardbirds jamband, back to the delay.
Funky housing, good looking product, neatly made, solid switch, like the angle of the pedal, very usefriendly when switching on and off, no popping noises either.
The delay is warm and lush, the toneknob can make it very dark and murky, that way you really can get those delay feedbacks up and playing loud without going selfdestruct, and I also used it without any dirtboxes and let the amp distort, by turning down the echo and the tone, I could get useable delays with a loop, just using the guitars volumeknob as control for clean and dirt sounds.
In normal setup with other pedals it worked as it should, it also kept my signal well alive, and the delay did not compress or squash up the sound, clean warm delays, with a hint of that funny analouge funkyness, I digged the various sounds coming from it, for such a simple design they sure made it worth its money, not that it is expensive in any way.
Even without using the tone the delay was very pleasing and on the warm fat side, good solid feedback.
It could also do the selfdestruct thingy, trippy and fun.
This is one good solid unit, good sounds, good tone, not very expensive, sounds alot better than some of the other delays I have used, some alot more expensive than this one, I just wanted a solid performer with a nice tone, and I got one for sure!
I've tried the old Delayla, and I like this one better, more sounds and I do not use double delays anyways.
Got a nice delay lenght too, 600ms is quite enough for me, sounds great on the longest setting too.
Short delays are quite cool and authentic too, I think that they made themselves a hit here.

Reliability : 9
Seems very wellmade, but for serious gigs I would get one more, just to be sure!

Customer Support : 9
Had no dealings, but everything feels very userfriendly, even the package was nice, good foam supporters and a solid plasticbag made of very thick plastic, 9v battery included as well(not that it last long, but that is normal with timebased pedals, analouge or digital)

Overall Rating : 10
As stated, Yardbirds, Jeff Beck and other classic stuff.
I am getting one more for backup, just in case it gets ripped off or something like that!
And it makes me wanna take alooksee on the two other pedals in that series.
Very good product, solid feel and good performance, just like a good tool should do, and quite fun to use on top of it.
