I've tried many Tremolo pedals and most don't sound great. The tremolo on this pedal sounds great, very warm and toneful. The trem has a very slight boost which is necessary as there is a percieved drop in volume with most trem effects.
The Vibrato is also excellent, it can be dreamy or seasick-sounding. When used properly, it can produce sounds like the Boss Vibrato that SRV used and also some chorus-like sounds.

Use it with an AC-50 top and a Hiwatt DR-504 top.
Quiet piece of gear.
The trem sounds like the one from an AC-30, so does the vibrato, the latter makes me seasick, as it should.
The trem is fat and can go from very slow to stuttering helicopter sounds.
Cool on both clean and driven sounds.

It sounds good, underated company for some odd reason?
Wonderful tones.
Would buy one again if it got stolen.

I really love the sound of this pedal. The tremolo works perfect. It dosen't sound as good as a 4 knob Voodoo Lab tremolo, but it's close. This pedal gives a slight volume boost in both modes which I hate, but it's not too much of a boost. It also adds some treble which isn't too bad, but it's far from transparent.
The Vibrato is beautiful, none of that seasick sound you get from the Boss Vibrato (a terrible vibrato pedal). It's smooth and beautiful. It adds volume and high end also, which sucks, but it does sound great, almost as nice as my Boss Dimension C which is an amazing pedal. This isn't a Chorus, but it does have a slightly chorused sound.
I really dig this pedal, but at these prices, it should be a bit more transparent.

I've only had this pedal for a few weeks, and it hasn't failed yet. I opened it up and was very disappointed at the construction. For an expensive pedal, it uses the cheapest pots and switches I have ever seen. I'll be gigging with this, so before I play out with it, I'll definitely have the switches replaced.
Also, these guys claim that this is true-bypass, but they're lying, you can't get true bypass with a DPDT switch and have LEDs. This is bullshit. The switches are mounted to circuit boards, shame on Carl Martin, this is unnecessary, and prone to failure.
I feel that for the money, this pedal is a ripoff due to the cheesy components used.

I haven't had to send back this pedal yet, and I wouldn't. What's the point of having them replace the 50 cent switches with the same crap??? i'm giving them a bad rating her, because they're obviously not listening to their customers. They've been getting terrible reliability reviews for 4 years, and they still use the same crap components. Open your ears Carl!!!

I love the sound, but hate the construction, this is definitely NOT a boutique pedal, it's closer to Boss or DOD junk in construction.

This is where CM falls short, my other pedal stopped working about 6 months after purchase (light use) and i sent it to a repair facility underwarranty. they had to get parts from CM Denmark, that took 4 months for me to get the pedal back. The Tremovibe still works but my other CM pedal still doesn't work. CM Pedals very unreliable.

It's a gamble. make sure you can afford to be with out the pedal when it breaks.

the pedal sounds great as designed. easy to use. Reliability scares me, but I still use this in my chain. For a Trem/Vibrato pedal, it is great. These pedals are pretty expensive, not sure the sound is worth the extra 200% mark up over the Asian made pedals. Especially since these pedals tend to break.

clarity wise,great-neither the trem or vibe sides are THAT spectacular sounding compared to other pedals that do the same kind of thing, but they do work very well and it's a good box to have around...the trem side could go a bit faster, though.

both of these effects can be used on pretty much any type of gig-i suppose the limited range on the trem speed isn't a very big deal as it sounds quite good...you could use the vibe side a lot if it's set right and almost forget it's on-nice sounding effect.

Very easy, you have 4 knobs (speed and depth for tremelo and vibrato, independant), two switches. True Bypass, and effect select. It would be cool if you could get the trem and vib going at the same time, but eh. I'm not complaining. My one pain in the ass with this pedal is that the included power cord (which is hard-wired to the pedal), is about 8 inches long. This isn't happening with me, I don't use a pedalboard as I only have like 3 other pedals, and I don't use em most of the time. I'm going to wire up a longer cord sometime this week. Otherwise it's all good.

I'm using a Marshall JCM600 half-stack with a Gibson Les Paul Standard, a Fender Jeff Beck signature Strat, a Rickenbacker 360, and a Fender '90s Tele Thinline. The other effects I use are a Boss SD-1 Super Overdrive, just for a lead boost, a Vox Wah, and occasionally, an MXR Dyna-comp for my country excursions. This pedal has, IMHO, pristine sound quality. Both the trem and vibrato are immensely usable, and when I first plugged in, I thought "Radiohead's OK Computer". That's the whole "vibe" i get from this, especially with my Tele or Rick. I agree with the previous reviewer that said the vibrato gets muddy with distortion- it sure does. I don't use the FX loop on my amp, just straight in the front... the tremelo works fine with distortion, and both effects rock on clean or overdriven stuff. Really nice sounding.

Very dependable looking- I haven't gigged with it yet, but it's big, heavy, metal, Danish... I think it'll hold up. But I won't give a rating yet.

I play hard rock, emo, experimental fusion, and sometimes country. This pedal is a great match, I really like it. I wish it had a longer power cord but that's an easily rectified problem. Rawk.

this things fairly easy to figure out. bypass switch for on/off (true bypass!) and another to change from the trem to the vibrato. each effect has two knobs. one for speed and one for depth. makes it easy to get the sound you're looking for. like the other reviewer said, it is a bit sensitive (speed and depth control) but really its no problem at all.

i use this with an ernie ball stingray bass to a (pretty crappy) used crate amp. there's absolutely no noise when its plugged in. probably due to the fact that its true bypass and doesnt use batteries. both effects sound great clean or distorted. i link it to a danelectro fab tone, dunlop bass wah and an ibanez analog chorus for what i play. experimental punk type stuff. but it has an old school sound so its easy to manipulate in to all types of different styles.

if it did break (which doesnt look likely) i run right out and buy it again. worth every dollar. 250 is a bit expensive but if you go to the store and try it out against boss, dod or any of the other crap pedals like that i think you'd go for it.

Simple and self explanitory. 2 functions with 2 sets of Depth and Speed controls as well as a Select footswitch to choose either Tremolo or Vibrato and a true effect Bypass footswitch. Power supply is direct to mains power which is a great idea! The Tremolo depth can be either subtle or on/off style. The speed function can be a little touchy! The Vibrato is even more subtle unless you crank the depth to over half. Has an LED light for both the speed and to let you know whether the effect is activated. I'd give it a 9 if the speed controls weren't quite so touchy and if it had the extra wave tri/sine control !!

I use a LP Custom, Kinman (Australian Made Customized Strat Design which craps all over the real thing!!) Musicman Silhouette Special, '73 Tele Deluxe and have used this with Marshalls and Boogies. Its S/N ratio is rated less than other Carl Martin pedals ( i also us the Carl Martin Hot Drive n Boost MKII + XIIChorus which are both superb pedals) so there is a slight volume drop if used via an effects loop. If you front end the amp then the overall tone and contrast is more prominent. I think if the actual wave form of the Tremolo could be edited then it would really be a great pedal. I love the Vibrato for its swirl and texture on clean tones, however there is a slight high frequency sizzle that occurs with the Vibrato. This is more prominent on the Music Man as it is a very bright guitar!! The Tremolo is excellent for both clean and distorted tones however the Vibrato tends to get a little muddy with distortion.

I've had this pedal for about 6 months and I gig fairly regularly and rehearse as well. This guy really knows how to make gear. This thing is built like a brick shithouse and the ability to connect it directly to mains power is wonderful..... just like his other pedals. No stuffing around with batteries and for those who talk about the use of 9V effects when there is a power failure.....like derrrrrrr!!! I don't use any backups with gear as it is too expensive and if anything does go down I unplug and carry on and then I get rid of it!!

No idea. They are built in Denmark of all places and I know the Australian distributor has just changed do to a lack of performance by the original distribution company! I work in a music shop so I know some of the inside mechanations. This guy orginally came out of the TC Electronics company so I guess he knows what he is on about. My ears tell me he does!

This and the other Carl Martin pedals are not cheap!!!!!!The fact that this pedal is a 2 in one is fantastic. Less space both on the floor and connecting to a power distribution board. Controls are easy to manipulate and the sound quality is excellent in general. I would like an extra control on both effects but Carl Martin sure has packed a lot into a relatively small effects case.... including power transformer!! I play contemporary pop rock that ranges from clean tones through to cranking grunty stuff and I use this pedal sparingly for some textural variation. I've tried the Boss Tremelo/Pan and it sucked tone, I've tried the Dunlop Tremolo which I quite liked but I think the fact that this doesn't need a battery or an adaptor is a real bonus. It is very transparent and the 2 in one functions (like all his pedals) is a real winner IMHO!! This can either touch up your sound or go bunta so it sure can do the business.
