Ease of Use : 10
no worries, chaps! it has about six knobs. you only really need three, and i leave it on one setting most of the time.

Sound Quality : 10
i like to get crazy sounds out of my effects, and i can get anything from a slow pulse, to a fast stutter, to that playing-in-a-bathroom slapback, and more. i have it set for a hick-up right now, but you can get those Radiohead and Blur sounds.

Reliability : No Opinion
works every time. i use a boss footswich, and since i dont have a rack yet, it just sits on my amp. ive never had a single problem, and it runs on A/C Power!

they dont make em any more...

Overall Rating : 10
im an exparamental dude, i like everything from Kaki King to Primus to the Gorillaz, and i use this all the time. i have been playing for about 5 years (im still in school) but all my money goes into music crap, so this was a steal for me. it costed less then the BOSS DD-3's and DD-6's all my friends are using! it beats my BOSS, Electro Harmonix, Digitech, and even my beloved DOD pedals easily...

the most powerful thing in my rig, so far.

Very simplistic. I bought both of mine used and did not get a manual with either of them, but it really was'nt needed.

Sound Quality : 10
I too have run the gambit of delay pedals, from old Maestro Echoplexes, boss DM-2, and a host of others that all have merits yet these units are highly prized additions to my rack gear. I figured if one of greatest influences,Joe Satriani, uses them, then I should give them a try.He has used these and he is very serious about his tone. These units have a warm echo delay sound that comes close to my old echoplex's without the tape hiss. A clean warm analog sound that far surpasses any of my pedals.

Reliability : 10
I owned two of these for about 2 years now with no problems.

Customer Support : No Opinion
No longer in business so no rating here. I bought them long after they went out of business.

Overall Rating : 9
Overall I give these a nine. I would give them a 10 if one were able to punch up presets but these were made before that was an option. Having two allows me to set one with a shorter delay and the other with a longer delay. If I lost one, I would replace it. I have played for 42 years now. I no longer play for pay but I still play everyday for my own enjoyment. Joe Satriani has been and continues to be one of my main influences. I have way to much gear to mention here but mainly use Ibanez JS guitars coupled with Marshall's and now a JS Peavey head.I have a TC eletronics G force and an Eventide D/SE in my rack and the delay sound I get from these Chandler units has a warmer delay sound than either the TC or the Eventide. If you find one,buy it. You won't be disappointed.

There is nothing hard about using this delay. It's just knobs.

Sound Quality : 10
This delay is pretty hard to beat. In fact it is the best I have ever enountered. This is the only delay I prefer over tape delay, and yes I do own some.

It doesn't mess with your clean sound like a tape unit and it's dead quiet. It has all the vibe to the echos and the repeat characteristic of a tape unit, but you can also do chorus and flange settings or tripped out modulation delay.

Well I could go on an on but I just wanted to add my voice to the chorus here and tell you this thing is the cat's ass.

Reliability : 10

Knobs on the front. No programming. Very Easy!
Manual very easy 2 page document. I also have Schematic!(Rare Find)

Sound Quality : 10
IT is one of the best Digital echoes out there. Has no effect on my sound via the effects loop on my Laney Head (VH100R).

It sounds very analog! I wonder why this thing is not made by Chandler anymore. I guess its just one of those issues just like the original whammy.

Reliability : 10
It is 10+ years old and I have had several of these. Kind of like a Satriani setup. If it goes then I got to ebay and wait for another one. I also use the Roland SDE-3000. I think they are in a tie. Depends if you want to do a little more dial turning vs. button pushing.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with them,

Comparing all the best Delays out there - i was sure my boss DD-6 was going to be it. The Chandler and Roland had me at hello. I cannot decide which is better. Both have their quirks. I just bought FS 6 latch pedal to turn the effect on and off.

( I have 2 Chandlers and 2 Roland SDE-3000)

Ease of Use : 8
I found the Chandler to be very intuitive, but I have to give it an 8 solely because of a lot of the misinformation I've read about it on the net. It's a delay yes, but it also gives the sweetest chorus and leslie effects on low delay settings with the modulation tweaked properly. Also, the modulation section absolutely can be used with the delay at longer settings ... This is where all the tape flutter simulations, rising delays, etc. that really separate the chandler from the herd can be found. It's all a matter of experimentation and that's the main reason I love this unit ... it appears to be a one-trick pony, but is absolutely not. The only frustrating thing about it is its lack of storable presets, which means a lot of one-knee down action live tweaking knobs or, alternatively, purchasing two, which I've seen a lot of guys do for increased flexibility.

Sound Quality : 10
Fantastic. It never ceases to amaze me how some effects get reviews in the hundreds on HC that absolutely don't deserve the hype and jems like these get passed up. With the high cut switch on, the mix set just right, and the modulation section adjusted for some tape flutter the Chandler produces some of the sweetest (just enough to fatten your lead sound but not trip) delay I've heard yet. Not sterile, not muddy, just right. I've owned many of the delay classics at some point (H&K Replex, Maxon AD80, Boss Dm-2, Line 6 DL4) and they all have something going for them, but, for me, the Chandler is the best >> especially in a live setting at loud volumes. (The Replex, on the other hand, kills at bedroom volumes, but is just too boomy to use at live stage levels). The fact that the Chandler can produce chorus and leslie effects competitive with my old Boss CE-2 and Analog Man Chorus makes it a must own piece of gear ... for me, anyway.

Reliability : 10
I've had the Chandler for a year with no issues.

Customer Support : No Opinion
As far as I know Chandler is out of business ... so if this broke I'd probably be up the creek but that seems to be the risk with any discontinued piece of gear. Hopefully, I'll never need to find out.

Overall Rating : 9
I play effects laden Brit Pop ala Muse, Blur, Travis, etc... with heavy doses of Satriani and Eric Johnson in my lead work and find this unit is a perfect match. If it were stolen, I would replace it. It definitely inspires me, like all good delay units, but, most importantly, doesn't get in the way live. My one wish, and it's a big one, is that it were available in pedal format like the Line 6 DL4 with storable presets. Right know I have my Chandler velcroed down to the top level of my pedal board because its the only piece of rack gear I own. If someone competent could pull off a Chandler clone in a pedal, that would be a piece of gear worth dropping some money on. Despite the glowing review, my overall rating is a 9 because the rack thing really chafes me sometimes.

It is quite esay to dial in a great sound. I think as slight improvement would be finer throw in the dials. I don't really use the modulation section, so I can't judge that.

Sound Quality : 10
I own an original EP-1 tube echoplex. The chandler captures almost every aspect of that sound, except tape distortion/compression. The high-end roll-off is excellent and you can even approximate the subtle flnage that tube plexes get when the motor rund down a bit by slightly adjusting the modulation section (very slightly). It is dead quiet.
If chandler wanted to make a lot of money (and a lot of guitarists happy), they would box this into a footpedal format, without the modulation section and with true bypass. I don't know why anyone would buy an old analog delay (even a good one like an Ibanez AD9 or Boss DM2) if the chandler were offered in that format. It is much more organic and powerful than any analog delay. Mayebe if they read this, we'll all get lucky.

Reliability : 10
I have one of the older brown units and it has held up very well. Never a problem.

This is really the best delay you can buy. It duplicates almost every aspect of a tube echoplex, far out-performs any analog delay and should make "regular" digital delay obsolete. If only it were a stomp box and would fit on my pedalboard!!

The controls are pretty straight-forward for a delay unit. Two knobs for delay time (one is for course adjustment, one for fine tuning it). Two modulation knobs (depth and rate). Repeats and Mix. There is also a "hi-cut" switch for a tape delay sound. Everything you need, nothing you don't.

Sound Quality : 10
I play a Gibson Les Paul DC through an all-tube Peavey Delta Blues 210 combo, and the Chandler sounds amazing. It adds depth to your sound without watering it down and the delay is the best I have ever played. Another bonus is if you turn the coarse time adjustment all the way left and mess with the modulation you can get a pretty nice chorus sound, but if you use th modulation knobs with the delay you can cause some totally heinous pitch-shifting mayhem. VERY COOL!

Reliability : 10
I have never had any trouble with this unit. It seems to be well-constructed, and i have never had trouble with any of the outputs, knobs, etc.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I have never had to deal with Chandler.

Overall Rating : 8
After trying out a wide variety of delay units (EH Memory Man, Dano Dan-Echo, all 3 Boss Delays, etc.) this one vlew them away. I got an amazing deal on this unit because it was used, but I think it's fairly expensive otherwise. I play modern rock, blues, and some borderline hard-core stuff and i have found uses for this unit universally. If you are in the market for a delay there is NONE BETTER. IF you can't afford a new one, the Danelectro Dan-echo delay is the closest simulation, but it's nowhere near the Chandler. I would give it a 10, but the price brings it down to an 8.

I don`t think you could find an easier delay to use. It pretty much has the usual stuff, mix, delay time, ect.

Sound Quality : 10
the sound quality is where this unit shines! I have been an Echoplex user since the 70`s when my neighbor found a solid state unit on the side of the road! Really! At one time I owned six, but now I`m down to four. As the years went by, I was always looking for something better. Not because of the sound, but because of the upkeep. I was on the road at the time so I learned how to repair them out of necessity. I went to a Roland digital delay in 1983 but never could get used to it. There are two things about tape delays that make them so great. One is that whatever note you play is always on top. The repeat almost never "steps" on what you`re playing. The mix on a digital delay has to be set just right. The second applies to space echos and Echoplexes, and that is they seem to fatten up your sound. It scoops a little mid and compresses your sound in a very cool way. The down side is they are pretty noisy and with most Echoplexes, you lose some gain. My main Echoplex is a near mint EP-1 tube unit that sounds great. It started giving me some trouble and was getting beat up so I thought I would try the chandler. I was blown away! I spent three hours comparing the two side by side at home and I got to tell you I could not believe The Chandler was a digital unit. It sounded just like the EP-1 except it was dead quite.

I`ll let you know after a few more gigs. So far so good.

I`ve been dealing with Chandler for many years and I think they do a good job. I did have to wait six months for it which was a drag.

Overall Rating : 7
As you probably guessed I rate the unit A+. It has two features I really dig. The high cut makes it sound like a tape echo. The other is the most cool feature, a pair of phase inverted stereo outs. It has the normal wet, dry outs also, but these are true stereo and they sound fabulous! I have used two Fender Deluxes for some time but in true stereo it is unreal! The Chandler is not cheap but I think it`s worth it.
