The Chandler Tube Overdrive is a simple to use and efficient overdrive unit. The output and drive knobs increse or decrease volume and distortion levels respectively. The bass and treble knobs dial in tonal frequencies.

I primarily use this device with an older strat (stock) and a variety of mid-60's Fender low wattage amplifiers, (deluxe, vibroluxe). The effect is quiet and quite lovely to hear with this gear. I keep the OD on at about 8 to 9 o'clock. This gives an almost tweed-like rasp to the strat. The treble is kept at appx. 10:00 while the bass is set at roughly 11:00. This sounds great and really sings with my neck pick-up. Occasionall,y I'll use a Plex for delay, and perhaps a touch of compression (very minimal) from a Maxon compressor. The effects, bt the way, are looped through a Pedalman two-channel loop box. I love the sound of this device, (the OD), even at low volumes. It's provides a nice balance and contrast with the clean sound of the amp and guitar. I have changed tubes throughour the years-right now I'm running it with A NOS JAN Phillips 12 AX7. Sounds superb.

Gosh-I've had this for about twenty years-bought it new. I still have the direction booklet. I've never had a problem with it although somewhere along the line I changed the plug for some reason or another. (Those darn seventies...) Other than that-stress free and perfect reliably.

I play an amalgam of styles. After thirty years, I still like this box. I know it's not boutique, or perhaps even fashionable, but I've learned to trust my ears and this box speaks to me in a very musical, sonorous manner. I highly recommend it.
