very easy to use and the whole range of the two settings is giving a good sound. The jack in and out are not on the sides but on the rear panel under the knobs. A good thing for me.

Sound Quality : 9
Wery warm sound, but it never takes over your guitar sound and tone. Another good point is that it has no drop of volume when on, unlike some other phaser pedals. It gives you superb phaser effect on clean (strat or gibs) sounds, it can give you a good "liquid" vibrato effect, very very smooth and eveloping effect on clear arpeggios. Great sounding really. It'not that wonderful with a heavy disto but you can rely on it to get something good yet.
The general sounding is warm and clean, the effect is never noisy, never too invading, always usable in every knobs positions, even extreme.

Reliability : 10
Mine is an old one, it's a hard metal box like the MXR disto box. Seems to be un destructible.

nothing to declare

I play quite every kind of good music, I like this kind of vintage analog warm sensation. This phaser is a good old one, made in japan in the 70's and made with taste by someone who probably knows things about music. See the locobox web page, there is an interesting historical point on these padals.
Hard to find it in Europe and hard to find a bad thing to say on this effect, full of personality. I bought it expansive but it is less the price of a brand new mxr phase 100...

Two knobs - shoeldn't be too hard to see how this thing works.
Only changing the batteries is a little bit anoying cause you have to remove four little screws on the back - but i would probably remove ten of them to hear this lovely little thing again.

Sound Quality : 10
IMO it's one of the best phasers out there, not just a clone of a phase 45 or 90 - it has a very special sound of its own with nice sweep turnings and it sounds so warm - a different world if compared to other modern phasing sounds. If switched off it doesn't suck any of your tone, and unlike others have mentioned mine doesn't seem to have a drop of volume when switched on--- lovely

Reliability : No Opinion
Seems to be very sturdy, has a small case, I don't think this could break easily. Gig without a backup?? Since those are pretty rare and I didn't find another one I'll have to - but without any doubts or fear.

Tell me if you can find any customer support from Coron now ;-)

Because of its beautiful sound i just can recommend the pase 55 to anyone who gets the chance to get one. If you like the more subtle phasers this is the right thing. And another advantage when compared to phase 90/small stone: has two knobs..

Two control. Easy what more can U ask for.
Evry setting sound good. MOSTLY WARM.

Sound Quality : 10
Use Strat, tele or whatever's got 6 strings. Prefer single coils.
path. Guitar> ibanez cp10 compress> Dennis wah (BEST THERE IS, and believe me I tried, owned a lot)>ts-9(just to boost)>phase 55.
It sounds WARM. little less volume in 'on' position. Is normal cause sound is filtered.
Any position of the controls is OK. I mean it's a musical thing so its up to you what sound you dial. But all settings are usable. Nice way of imitating hammond organ type of chording.
BTW I always play clean!! and loud!! (whattayasay??????)
Mostly it filters the mids and adds a very warm bass thing. I use it in the more quit passages and slow riffs.
What more is there to add? It's one of the best phasers I know. It sounds a bit different from the 'well known' ones but more musical and far better. Not to compare with small stone or boss (brrrrr).
If you find one first buy and then try. After using one you can't wait for the next day to use again.
Can I get the sound of my faforites. Hell I don't know. And I don't care. I got the sound I love.......
I use it with a blackface Band master mostly. Sometimes a Blues deluxe or Marshal. I don't really care. Alsways sound good.
BTW if you have a Fender amp try using it by playing through two channels. One with the phase and one without. Then you have even more possibilities.

Reliability : 10
I trust it. Its old and still OK. Back up?
Where can I find these? I would start a small business trading these.

Customer Support : No Opinion
NO, I've no idea who they are. BTW the could destroy my dream so why bother.

Overall Rating : 10
I play mostly blues. Thats where I use it.
I got it for free from a shop where it was in one of the drawers with junk and parts. I wanted to try it, they said (because I play Louuuuuud) "NOT HERE, JUST TAKE IT!!!!!!!!"
So I did.................
I think of checking out amps and guitars in this store. See what they say..........

Simple one knob operation. adjust at your own risk.

I have used Mxr, Boss, Ibanez and Dod and this thing sounds nothing like any of those. It cant do that van-halen phase 90 thing OR THE CLASSIC MXR SOUND. wHAT IT DOES DO IS BREATAKING soft sweeps that start real faint and but when the knob is turned it starts to actualy turn into a vibrato. And I mean the classic sounding pulses that everyone loves. Now some may say wait a minute your unit must be malfunctioning or the values of the components have drifted way out. But you will never know because I will never sell this pedal or inquire to remedy possible glitch, as it sounds amazing in the frOnt of my Peavey Classic 50 head through A FENDER 2X15 '69 CAB. I also am running an old memory man in the loop for awesome chorus and echo tones. Heaven! If you have not tried the peavey classics, do it soon.

Great classic sound of it's own. I love the older effects they make you play from the heart, instead of masking your sound with overprocesed distortion and effects hiding all of your mistakes. I have been playimg for 20 years and if I could say one thing to new players I would say listen to the blues guy's first. They are where it all started and there tone is real from the heart shit. Don't get lost in all that heavy droning crap, that shit is for parties only. If you think your good try and play WHAM by STEVIE RAY VAUGHN OR LITTLE WING BY HENDRIX. If you have trouble don't give up it just takes a lott more talent and practice then a one finger Pantera chord.

Do they still exist ??
I don't think so

Overall Rating : 9
No nonsense phaser, kind of MXR copy.
Don't know if it's better or worse, it's a little bit different, but it sounds good to me.
Still don't understand why there aren't more people who collect Coron effects.......
