The D-TAR Equinox is the best acoustic guitar pre-amp I've ever used. While I loved my LR BAggs Paracoustic DI, it is after all a quasi-parametric eq / direct box. The EQUINOX is a full fledged pre-amp with real parametric EQ. After 5 minutes of blind fiddling, you can get your guitar to sing in ways you've never heard.

Larrivee DV-10 acoustic guitar into the EQUINOX into a CRATE CA125D. The EQUINOX is totally clean, studio grade, half rack unit. Sound is completely "dial-able". You can get any sound you want, due to the three sweepable parametric eq bands which are tuned for acoustic guitar frequencies. This is one cool unit. I bougth it after studying the reviews on the Dtar.com web-site.

This acoustic guitar pre-amp literally sings! I was skeptical of the review on DTAR.com's site, but it was so extensive. I don't use my LR BAGGS Paracsoutic DI box anymore(it's a good unit, but this one is like moving from Black and White into COLOR!) It has 2 bands of notch filters and three bands of prametric EQ (3 knobs each) to allow sweeping wide or narrow within the band and choosing the center point of your sweep (2nd knob in each grouping) and the cut/boost knob. This is the most important piece of gear I have ever owned. The tone blows away all of the other 15 guitarists who play in our church. (Note, we have an impressive sound system with a full digital mixing board etc.). I only wish it didn't require a wall wart transformer, minor complaint. I use the mounting plate for screwing onto a mic stand and jsut dial in what ever tone I 'm looking for. It's work the $275 bucks just to try this thing out as the next piece of gear in your collection. I've never had this much control over my tone in my life. Playing a Larrivee DV-10 with the LR Baggs I-Mix (dual source) system into the D-TAR Equinox and then into a TC electronics chorus gives quite the sweet and very sutdio like acoustic sound. Highest recommendation to check it out!
