This is a very easy pedal to dial in. There is a compression knob and a level knob. It is very simple to dial in an appropriate amount of compression.

I am using this with a silver face Fender Bassman that is modded to blackface specs. I use a Marshall 2x12 with 75 watt Celestions. I put the Dod compressor right after my Ibanez RoadStar (I love it) into a Fuzz Factory,Tube Driver,Crybaby 535,reissue Small Stone, Dunlop Tremolo, Ibanez CS-505 stereo chorus. The DoD compressor really helps driving the signal through all effects. When I tried it with just a few things like the phasor & chorus only I really was able to apprecite what the baby could do. Note definition, stronger phasing from the EH reissue, dripping chorus. The DOD is very musical and not harsh like some cheaper rack mounters.

I think the puppy is dependable. I would gig with out a back up.

I play glammy, punky, post-modern rock and this is great for note definition throuhg the long chain of effects I often use. It is warm and musical. A great find for the price I paid. I recommend it especially for the way it pushes the modulation effects and really brings them to life.

surprisingly simple, even for a compr. 2 knobs, appropriately labeled compression and output, none of that confusing dod mumble jumble. actually have two, one reddish/orange and one orange. anyone know the difference??

i'm using this with a jazzmaster into a bandmaster reverb head and with my ovation magnum bass into a fender bxr head. pretty smooth compression with a big volume boost, especially with guitar. the red one(guitar) tends to be a little more hissy than bypassed. mind you, a very little! they both sound excellent before a dist. and give really niced sustained single note lead things.

these are put into little mxr style boxes, and i would gig without a backup, but since i already have two, i guess i do have a backup.

i doubt Dod even remembers making a product that didn't suck, so they probably couldn't help.

i play noise rock, and have tried a few other compressors, namely the reissue dynacomp(which sucks) and the boss cs-3(which sucks even worse, despite my semi-good review of that)I've been playing for a good 4-5 years, would buy it again, although i never got a chance to play an original dynacomp, or one of those ross compressors i hear are pretty nice. But i think both the ross and this dod are based on the dynacomp circuit, and i have a ross flanger that just kicks ass.. i wish i had thought of buying this before my cs-3, and not wasted my time, but we learn through our mistakes. i was surprised that this pedal was made by dod though, and my wonder at that fact continues to this day, as i have never ever been impressed by anything they have done before.

Just a Compression and a Level Knob and an on-off switch. Could it be any easier???

I use the box to tighten up by guitar sound before it gets processed. It's the first thing in line then it goes through a bunch of other stuff. It does what it is supposed to do, compress! It has the right sound for the guitar in my opinion. Kind of the late 70's early 80's compression.

It's a metal box with good pots and a good switch. It's reliable.

I've had other DOD pedals and have never had to contact the company. They are big enougn the would probably help. I ususally go to my local dealer and he seems to help me more.

Like I said, it was the sound I was looking for, it has a vintage look to it, and it works. I tried a couple of rack units, an Ibanez, and another DOD and this was the one. I would buy it again.
