Pretty easy. Just 2 knobs. Level and range. Turn 'em until you get the sound you like. You do have to be pretty exact in relation to the volume you're running into it to get a real good sound.

I give it a 10 for bass. This is the re-issue. Never played the original. Since I use it for bass, I'll rate it for bass. I give it a 6and1/2 for guitar. Bass really brings out this pedal's full potential. Sounds a lot like a slightly more "liquidy" version of a Mutron to me. Or, maybe a better more subtle FX25. Not very versitile. Does one sound and does it very well. I think people who rate this pedal poorly probably just don't have the patience to sit and set it exactly where it needs to be.

In the very sturdy Hammond/MXR-type box with a lovely green paint job. Stomp switch is the cheap kind that are the exact same ones in ElectroHarmonix pedals, but they're still very sturdy.

I emailed DOD recently about another pedal and they got back to me the next day and were extremely helpful.

I love it. Simple and gets the job done splendidly. They really ought to re-issue it again. I think mine's NOS from 5 years ago. Works well with other pedals before and after it which can't be said about all envelope filters.

Simple enough with 2 knobs, but awkward to fine tune if you want to use it "properly" as dynamics affect the tone so much.

I use this in conjunction with a hell of a lot of other pedals. It's placed after my distortion section and before my "Whammy" and modulation pedals. As the way I use it is a little unorthodox it sounds great for what I want. I basically use it to "quack" as the tone goes high into the treble. The sound quality is not great, but that's kinda why I like it! Guitar is a knackered old start (with whatever pickups I have in it at the time) and a JCM800 or 900 into a 4x12.

Ruggedly made, but I'd prefer a better switching system. I don't like the plastic top to the footswitch (no definite click).

I set everything on it to max and use it to make a weird quacky high pitched squeek. I play in a band with a similar style to RATM (hence the weird noise thing!) This enables me to use my foot to manipulate my Whammy or Morley wah pedal while still getting a wah sound from the filter pedal. Bonkers! I wouldn't recommend it as a standard "auto-wah" as you will probably be disappointed with it's sound.

it sucks for guitar, bass AND synth. When you turn it on, it takes your volume away, and has horrible horrible tone. no clarity at all, and when it gets to the bassy end of the filter cycle it sounds just awful.......

I use either a 94 Jaguar or a 91 Tele Plus into either a Peavey Special 112. It makes no noise at all, and the effect is very rich, and full bodied. I was surprised. Most DOD pedals are crap, but this old green one is really cool. It gives a great Envelope Filter sound....very funky. I know Jonny Greenwood for Radiohead uses one of these.

Very dependable. It's in a MXR style casing, so it should hold up. As someone else had said before, I don't know why they changed the style.

It's a great pedal for funk type stuff...and it fits in to most music categorys. You'll find a use for it. The Q-Trons are a bit out of my range...but this one does the job well. If it was stolen, I would find the guy who did it...and beat him to death with his own shoes. Overall a great, useful pedal.

Two knobs. The really tricky part is getting the level to match your guitar output. When i first got this thing i thought it was broken or the battery was dead but you have to really work with the level knob because envelope filters sound shitty if they are overloaded.

I expected much more of a pronounced wah sound but this didnt have it. This is however a very nice and subtle wah sound that could be used for clean funk. I was really looking for a more pronounced sound though.

This is an old one in an MXR style casing. I dont know why dod changed to the crappy casing they use know. I would not buy any of theyre new pedals because they are too cheaply made but this one will live a long life.

Two knobs. It takes a little time. If you have an active bass, don't boost any of the frequencies too much. Also, watch that the volume of the instrument isn't too high. I just about flatten all of the boost/cut frequencies and put volume at 100%, then I adjust the effect from there. On the effect I keep the level on full, and the range very low.

Quiet. As long as the battery is fresh, it sounds great. Not overwhelming either.

Good stuff. This pedal is a reissue version, and is $5 more than the FX25 Envelope Filter by DOD. They are essentially the same, except that the FX25 makes a terrible sound when the wah effect fades back to the low end. Kind of an earthquake sound. So bad, it used to shake the hanging lights beneath me in my house. I have owned both, and the extra five buckaroos is worth it for the 440.
