This thing is great I use and Epiphone Dot or Yamaha Pacifica through a Trace Elliot Speed Twin C100. The chorus is the best Ive heard after using a Digitech Multi-Chorus for a year and trying a friends Boss Chorus Ensemble.
This is worth consideration by anyone. Anyone who talks about analogue being better than digital has their argument backed up undoubtedly by this!
Mine doesn't sound dark at all. Tonality is really great, the one downside is that it isn't true-bypass but is pretty much silent when engaged or off.
Did i mention its great?

Well this thing is older than i am and its still going strong.
Looking inside it there isn't too much that couldn't be replaced or fixed.
It could be depended on night after night easily

Haven't heard back from them on getting a schematic. If this goes thats it, as its difficult to get the SAD512 chips for it. Can't find the original manual or anything. Seems like DOD don't worry too much about these old pedals.

This thing can be used for any style of music. I tend to use it for playing stuff by the Police. But also sounds great used with a modded dyna comp and TS-808.
I was looking on ebay for one in the UK for a year and would be gutted if i lost it or it got broken.
The only thing i could possibly say to improve it is that its not true bypass but that could soon be sorted out with an hour and a soldering iron :)
Keep an eye out for one im pretty sure u won't regret it, I didn't!

This is a very simple to use analog chorus. Has speed and depth nods, In and out and power jacks, and a stomp switch. Super easy to get a good sound. There is also a mini pot on the inside, I had to set this when I recieved this pedal because I was getting a very week sound. Basically you just adjust it while playing untill it sounds right, pretty simple. I don't have a manuel and doubt that I could find any. DOD doesn't support most of there old products.

My setup is a Washburn NX6, a Fender Iron Maiden Strat, a Jackson Surfcaster, a Jackson JRS-1, an Ibanez Ghostrider w/p-90s, or a Gibson SG going into a G. dennis wah, a DOD 460 phasor, a DOD Gray 250, a G. Dennis distorted mind blues into a Randall RG75 with the DOD 460 in the effects loop. It sounds incredible best chorus I have had. Very liquid and is not over powering like some choruses I've used. Ive had Ibanez, Boss, Fulltone, EH, and other models of DOD choruses, digital and analog. They were all too extreme. Not to say that you can't get extreme with this pedal, I can get everything from a slight shimmer to suedo Lesli sounds, it is just that it doesn't make you sound prossessed, very organic, very natural sounding. The only problem I have is that there is a slight volume drop when this pedal is engaged. It is barely noticable though. this is the only reason that it didn't get a 10.

I don't gig any more but if I did I wouldn't be concerned. It's built like a tank, just like all the early DOD mechanical switch pedals. Why they have never returned to this pedal format is beyond me. Just look at the MXRs, they sell like crazy, and I don't think that they were ever as good sounding as these DODs.

Good luck with this company. They don't care about there past and probably never will. Hopefully, someday a smart person will come along and resurect this company and bring it back to the quality it had in the 70's.

I play mainly metal, although I play all kinds of music except country. I've been playing for 16 years and this is by far my fave chorus. If it was stolen I'd buy another. I will probably buy another as soon as I can anyways. Thats how much I like this pedal.

Just a word: GREAT. I use a Strato American Standard with Boss OD-3 overdrive (as a booster), Boss SD-2 Dual Overdrive, DOD 460 Minichorus and Mesa Boogie Studio 22+. Wonderful combination for blues, classic and hard rock. I can use DOD 460 both clean or drive setting and I get a great sound anyway.
It sucks just a little volume and bass frequencies but no matter. The sound is always amazing.

I bought this on a whim. I had no clue what it sounded like, other than some samples of a dod 690 chorus pedal i found on the net. But i'd could never trust that because it's not my set up. So I took a risk. GLAD I DID.
This pedal can sound like a phaser, a tremolo, a harmonic generator + chorus all in one. It does some very unique tone coloring when activated (2nd and 3rd harmonics). Take a listen... Turn the depth all the way down on the pedal and then activate it. You'll hear what i'm talking about.
Coloring doesn't stay when deactivated. Not too noisy. Who cares anyway (nobody would ever notice).
For the people claiming this pedal sounds dark, that seems odd to me. In my opinion, it leans more towards the warm end of the spectrum. I tried it on a couple of guitars (telecaster, tele-plus, fender lead III) as well as a twin reverb and a solid state amp. Sounded warm with all set ups.

This is probably the most sturdy pedal I own. I would trust this over anything else I use (Boss TR-2, Boss CH-2, Boss SD-1(japan), Boss DD-5, Crowther Hotcake, Crappy Digitech Whammy I RI, EH Small Stone RI)

It's old. Doesn't exist. But not needed. i bought it new-old stock. Came with the original warranty card/sticker/etc. Even the rubber stickers to keep the pedal from moving on the bottom. Original battery. I got lucky!

I'd say that this is a very unique pedal. I have begun experimenting with it recently with new songs i've been writing. It's also be swaying the way i write (influencing me). Don't expect it to make you sound like the Police or the Cure or something. But I can voluche that it sounds very different from anything i've heard. And it's of high quality. So i give it a 9. The only reason i don't give it a 10 is because as of right now, I wish the depth got just a little deeper. It is very subtle... But that limitation could be it's beauty. We'll see. www.thedefog.com

This is one smooth little chorus. It sounds amazing to me. I am playing this with an american deluxe fat strat through a mesa recto-verb, which is going on the chopping block so I can get a vintage fender amp. I only use the clean channel on this amp the dirty channel is horrible. It sounds like that typical played out drop d one finger lazy loser chord garbage. Other effects I use are: boss ce-1, bf-1 flanger, roland phase 5 and ap-2 phaser, dod 201, 401, and 490 and Ibanez sd-9.

Overall this chorus is great. The price is right for now, until some asshole says guess who uses this pedal and then they will be several hundred dollars.(ts-808) It seems such a shame that a company making such quality stuff could make such shit now. same goes for boss they havent made a pedal worth buying in 15 years or more. I guess these companies are now trying to appeal to that 10 year old inexperienced guitar player who will settle for complete shit. Buy one now if you see it. I wish I had bought a hundred tube screamers when people were hocking them for $10-20 before SRV ruined all that. Sound like yourself not someone else. That has already been done.

A word: awesome. I was never a big fan of chorus before I tried out this pedal, and as soon as I tried it I had to have it. Most chorus boxes sound too slick and pop, but this one has a nice, dark personality to it. It sounds very much like an EH Small Clone, but you can tweak it a lot easier due to it's depth knob (verus a switch). Easy to get that 'Come As You Are' sound (Kurt used a Small Clone), and many other sounds, like slow, flanger-like sweeps, lush chorus, and sick sounding vibrato/tremolo. Sounds good on clean or distorted settings, worked well with my Marshall head to the Marshall 9000/Valvestate 8008 combo I'm working with now.

Solid. MXR-like case, heavy duty footswitch. No LED, but you'd have to be deaf to not hear when this pedal's on. Gig without a backup? Certainly. As a matter of fact, planning on it.

This pedal almost literally fell out of the sky and into my lap. I took my four-knob Ibanez FL9 to Mike at Silverlake Guitar Shop (check the place out if you're in the Hollywood area, he has a lot of cool shit), looking to sell it. Mike asked me if there was anything I'd trade it for, and I looked in his pedal case and mentioned that I needed a chorus. I tried this 10-series Ibanez chorus first, and mentioned that I was looking for a Small Clone. He gave me this pedal to try, and I was hooked. Good lookin' out! He traded me straight across for the FL9, and I've been very happy with this pedal since. Thanks Mike! You kick ass!

I play through a MESA MAVERICK class A. This Chorus is very good, not an over-kill type of chorus, but real nice just the same. I prefer a thick chorus like the CURE would use, and with a compressor in front it will get a little more lively....I ahd been hearing alot of comparisons with this pedal and the MIcro-CHORUS from Mxr, and that would be a good starting place 'cept for the fact that the MXR has only ONE knob and is NOT as versitile, it's good to, but no Depth can be dialed in on the MXR...Sounds Nice to ME...I only give it an 8 because the Boss CE-1 kicks it's A$$!

I'll give it an over-all of 8...only because the CE-1 whips it and every-one else for that matter. I would probably get another because the price is "way nice" and i can't think of another one that sounds as good for three times the money (..yes the TC Electronics is thicker than the 'Earths-Crust', but i could get a NICE used guitar for what they want for those...) in closing, this is a much-overlooked quallity pedal for a very LOW price, what a bargain!

Play all styles of music for over 25 years. Tried a lot of others but the later stuff leaves me "cold". This is as good if not better than the MXR Micro Chorus and LOT more versitile. Just adds a wonderful lushness to the sound of the guitar. Replace in a heartbeat of I could fine one! Rare it seems and no wonder.

It is extremely easy to get a good sound out of this baby. There are only two knobs, and I'm not a big fan of lack of control...but looks are definately decieving with this box. It is a fairly dark chorus, good for mellow yet tight heavy metal. And even extremely heavy, at that. I suggest this for pedal for smooth rhythm, riffs, etc.

I'm running an Alvarez electric to a Fender Pro 185 amp. I'm happy to say there isn't much noise to this pedal at all...it does its job, and it sticks to it. The range of this pedal is awesome, you can get from subtle, to very noticable, to even a tremelo effect...odd, I know...but true. You can most definately get the sound of Creed's clean sound with this pedal, especially used with a Crybaby in a neutral position, I think. However, for the sake of flexability, I strongly suggest you buy something like a Danelectro Cool Cat chorus...but then again, you can even control the depth of this Chorus...I guess it really boils down to your convience, now...

I bought this pedal used, and I have a subtle feeling this pet's been to hades and back, so yes, I can depend on this, big time. I've had this for months and I have yet to change the battery on it. I use it for about 2 hours a day...haven't had to change it yet, still sounds great. One tiny little problem though...It's just MY pedal, probably not anyone elses...but every so often, I will turn on the chorus, and it cuts my signal off..just got to hit it on and off again. Other than that, I say its a winner. A true veteran.

I play melodic heavy metal...say, Creed for example. Not to copy them in any way. I've been playing for a little over 3 years. And I swear, if this thing were ever, and I mean ever stolen...the hand that this person used to steal it will be a thing of the past :) I would say this pedal cannot be compared to anything else because of its individuality. I especially love the crystal clear sound I get outta this tank...its one of the only few DOD pedals thats built as tough if not tougher than a BOSS. I do have to gripe yet again...what was going through the manufacturer's mind when they didn't put a LED light on this thing?? I'm able to tell now pretty much when its on without playing, but still....just kinda annoying. This pedal's hypnotical sound definately helps me write music...heh. I run my Alvarez through a Crybaby, a DOD Attacker, then the Chorus on to the Amp.
