I play a Mexican Strat, usually through a preamp and into headphones. The first thing I noticed about this pedal is that it had really nice distortion for being made in the 70's. It definately has more gain then I expected. I got some of those "Oldies but Goodies" tunes down great with this pedal. I would definately put this thing up against a ProCo Rat Anyday.

Man, you thought boss pedals were tough? This thing could squash it. This pedal is one big hunk of metal. I don't like the battery compartment though. It is at the front of the pedal and it is kinda hard to get 2 9volts to fit into it.

I play every style under the sun. Although this pedal wasn't made for that purpose, it does do its part well. I play alot of early clapton, and i can get it out of this pedal along with Boston and and all the others. They are getting pretty old, probably collectibles by now, but oh well, as long as mine keeps on working I'm happy.

3 knobs. they're big, so you can see where they are... on the top of the pedal. gain, tone and output, no manual, no battery cover, and the place where the batteries go (yes, plural, it takes 2 9volts) takes a different kind of battery cover, so you won't find it anywhere in the world cuz they don't make that kind of cover.

it's an old distortion pedal, late 70's. it sort of gives you what you want, but if you want some really good distortion with it, use a preamp to give it some boost.

i will say this, the amount of metal they used to make this pedal was A LOT. it's very heavy. but, the footswitch is a big rubber slab that says "dod" on it, and you have to know where to step on it if you want the effect to kick in. and the rubber slab feels like it will fall off soon, which i don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing, maybe it will be easier to hit the switch under it. oh yeah, and the switch is not at the edge of the pedal, it's more in the middle, which makes it harder to switch. i would never, ever gig with this, ever... the light on it is pretty bright though so you know when it's on or not, and i mean bright...

i called them up before about manuals and battery covers for 2 other pedals, and they came in the mail free of charge. i don't know if they check their e-mail, so i don't e-mail them, and they haven't updated their website in a year, so i don't think they will check e-mail.

i bought this because i felt it would be a good collector's item, and it is. just don't play it during a concert. i play punk and ska-core. this wouldn't be good for it, unless you have a preamp in front, but even then this pedal is hard to switch on. as you can see, technology changed and they did a good job updating their pedals. now they have the big plastic switches that say "dod" on them. i wish they were metal, but thats no big deal, just don't drop it on the switch, that's all. but like i said, don't perform with this, even though it says "performer" on it, it's not. oh yeah, and i don't think this will get stolen cuz it's not leaving my house, unless i brought it somewhere just to show it off.
