I got mine broken off of ebay for about $30. After a little research I found that one of the chips (SAD512) was prone for going bad. I found one for $20. (It took a while, and was probably too much to pay for a chip, but whatever . .) After replacing the chip, all was good.
I think this guy is really easy to use. I can get spacy/whacked out sounds to smooth subtle sounds. Its only 4 knobs. Regen/Manual/Width/Speed. It isn't really rocket surgery.

This can give you the whacked out spacy sounds as well as mellow subtle sounds. It can be pretty smooth, you just have to find what works well for you.
Another user mentioned that it works best for guitars with quiter pickups. This is true, however the breakup you get with hotter pickups does add a nice coloration. Especially in the bottom end.
Sounds good with a dist/overdrive. Sounds better clean. A heavy distortion (Marshall Guv'nor for ex) will really bring out the harshness in the flange. the subtle smooth sounds best with a light overdrive. I generally use it clean and let it break up on its own.

Mine is decent shape. Its kinda banged up a bit. Im giving it a 7 because of the history with the SAD512 chip. Who knows if my new one will go out anytime soon.

I love this pedal. I love the vintage tone and look. It adds the depth to your sound, like it should. It quickly made its way into my standard setup.

I owned one of these pedals in the mid to late 80's with my bass guitar. It was one of six effects I was using.
I understood the settings from previous experience with the old monophonic analog synths of the 70's, so getting desired sounds was quite easy.

The range offered me a number of choices, but I kept a slow sweep/rate with a moderate bit of resonance (wetness). Fuzz and/or chorus sounded good going INTO the 670.
There was some background swish/swirl from the pedal, but I suspect that it probably was only amping pickup/line noise (it was quite faint).
The axes I was using with my setup was an Ampeg GEB 70 Big Stud, a Dan Armstrong Bass, a Gibson Victory Bass, and/or a Peavey Foundation.
My amps were (at various times) a Checkmate Guitar head into a 2-12 (generic) cab, a GBX 4-12 rig, an old SVT rig &/or a Peavey 400 Bass into a 15" Shure monitor in a Univox cab.
Pedals: Univox Super Fuzz, Maestro PS1 Phase, a Boss CE2 chorus, a Dod 670 flanger, a Mu-Tron IV (?) envelope follower, an MXR Small Stone (chorus?), & various reverb units (YES! On a Bass!)

The Dod was always there for me (as well as the friend I sold it to - he's still using to date!). Having a backup for it never entered my mind!

I was playing Bowie/Hendrix/Originals with a power trio (Bacchus), then with a pair of "Power-Progressive Pop" - sorry, that's the best description I could come up with - groups (Earthshine & Diversified Energy).
When I switched to a Metal Crunch trio (Dunblane Hydro), I dropped all my pedals. They didn't work with the rig & style I was using/playing.

Takes a while to figure out how the knobs interact. Still, I like pretty much any sound coming out of this thing.

Incredible. A bit noisy, but I don't mind. It reminds me it's analog. The quality of sound is truly analog. It doesn't sound forced or manufactured, like many of today's pedals. Sounds really good either clean or distorted. Don't expect cheesy 80's sounds. It can do a very deep sounding smooth chorus, cool phasing sounds, nice dark vibrato and anything in between.

So far so good. Bought it used. I like that is powered by AC.

I love it. If you want a nice warm, natural sounding effect, this is it. I've owned other chorus/flanging type effects and this unit puts them all to shame. I also own an original Musitronics Mutron, and a few boutique distortion boxes. In short, I'm picky about what I feed my amp. This pedal was a nice surprise. I bought it on impulse, as I was looking for a vintage analog flanger. I'm glad I found it.

No manual needed, just 4 knobs: Regeneration which controls how many delayed signals go into this mix, manual which controls the delay time from 3 to about 15 ms, depth and rate. No manual but it only takes about 5 minutes to get a good variety of sound out of it.

It seems to work better with guitars that have low output pickups through it. Guitars with high output tend to clip. Very low noise with effect kicked in but There's a drop in gain when the effect is kicked out, not true bypass. Sounds range from a subtle shimmer to whacked out helicopter noises. I've tried syncing up the rate with a very small depth with the vibrato channel in my Fender amp running at the same sweep rate, WOW, almost like a Leslie. Great for recording, doesn't need a gate.

I play in a variety cover band so I tend to use a lot of effects in my chain. I like a pedal that doesn't affect gain too much or color the signal when it's kicked out and this does it for me. I also own an Ibanez Chorus/Flange, which I use exclusively for chorus because it doesn't sound as warm as the DOD for flanging. Considering how many years I've owned my DOD, I'd say I got my moneys worth out of it, but if I lost it, I'd have to do a lot of looking before I came across one that sounds as warm and lush as this unit.

Very easy to find a good sound. Very plain, old school(analog!). The best $10 I ever spent(the guy at the store thought it was broke)!

I use Les Pauls w/EMGs, Soldano and Marshall type amps/pre-amps(all tube gear). Not very noisey (hey it's old analog technology!). Sounds very, very much like early Van Halen.

I think it's the best $10 I ever spent. I already had a Choral flange, but why chance bringing that $315 pedal out, when I can get close enough for $10! I love the Fulltone pedal, don't get me wrong but I would have paid $75 or more for this DOD-it sounds that good. If you like early Van Halen flange or phasor sounds, don't pass up this little-known bargain!!!!
