Easy to use is not the thing what the Dimension can.
The DIm12 is kind of schizoid, sometimes it wants to serve DJs,sometimes it wants to serve LOOPERs,,
Very difficult.
also the manual is not very detailed.
Anyway, the DIM12 is easy to use,but it opens always a question,
who needs this device ?

Not clean,with a little hiss,neverthelss useful.It works like

The D12 is kind of schezphrenic,not a real DJ,device,not a real
Loooper device.
The D12 is a specific FX-Device.
For me it is useful. The D12 is very individual.

This is just a follow up to my last review. I have since gotten a Behringer FCB1010 midii controller for this beast, and it does make it a lot more practical. The problem is, it closes as many doors as it opens. One thing i failed to realize while reading the manual for the product, was that you cant control, or even use the delay on the box with midi. I have complete acces to most of the ins and outs of the sampler, but NO control over the delay. This is a pain in the ass since you cant over dub loops. Also, it would nice to send control commands so you could set/change parameters via midi. For the midi lamen, this means you could control the knobs with an expression controller or send a parameter to jump to a value.
IN CONCLUSION:
This product is an extremely low end delay/sampler and it really shows the more you use it. ALthough, with some tweaking you can get fairly good tone out of it, this doesn't make up for its incapability to do anything truly useful. This is a one trick pony, and by one trick, it means ONE, UNO, trick, that it consequentially does fairly well. I have since decided to buy a line 6 echo pro, and it shoudl arrive in about a week. I'll be sure to post a review of the product after trying it out.

I THINK THE QUALITY IS GOOD, BUT I EXPECTED MORE TRANSPARENT SOUND FOR A 18 BIT UNIT, BECAUSE WHEN I SWITCH IT OVER ON MY RANE 2016 MIXER FROM THE TURNTABLE. I STILL HAVE TO EQ THE AUX INPUT IT IS CONNECTED TO TO BRING BACK SOME OF THE SOUND QUALITY.

I THINK IT WAS A BIG STEP FROM THE DIGITECH 7.6. BUT WHERE IS THE
STEREO OUTPUT TO THE DAME THING? IF SOMEBODY CAN MAKE A TRUE STEREO SAMPLER IN THE FORMAT OF THE DIGITECH 7.6 OR DOD D12 IT WILL BE A GREAT THING. BUT ALL COMPANIES ARE SAYING THERE IOS NO DEMAND FOR IT. OH WELL !!!!!!!!!

Any delay is going to be very fairly simple to use. Nothing surprised me in how it functioned. I just ordered a midi controller which I'm sure will make things even easier.

I found the effect to be quite noisy. I did the test of hooking the output to the amp with nothing going in and finding the noise point. I'd say it's about at 4 or 11 o'clock if you would. My best results were using the Hi-Z mic input, as it can boost the signal, you won't have to raise the input level to much. I hated the "effect" mode, thought it sounded cheesey, but its not why I got it anyway.

Reliability is where I start to quiestion the dimension. I bought it used, and its been fairly consistant. Only occasional level jumps, but oh well. I'm going to see if its worth keeping in my rig once I get the midi controller, but it definately will do the job until I get enough for the TC D-Two, a phenomenal product.

DOD doesn't even exist any more I don't think? I have considered getting it repaired, but Only time will tell if I do or not. As I said, I'd much rather have the TC Electronics D-Two.

OK, This is the meat of what I have to say. I am currently running the following setup: Music Man Sillhouette Special - Whammy 2 - Crybaby Wah - Keeley Baked TS9 - Keeley Compressor - DOD flager (only occasionally) - Boss DD5 Digital Delay - Dimension 12 - Music Man 65 Reverb. I try to seperate my delay signal and my sampling signal, which is the main reason I bought the Dimension in the first place. The main problem with the sampling is there are no overdubs in sampling mode. The delay mode fixes this, but the decay in fidelity over time defeates a lot of the usefulness. Only having 12 second available is also kind of constricting, but most of the time is enough. Effect mode is useless in my opinion. Reverse mode is the most messed up function in the whole mess. It doesn't start to record until the input reches a certain decible, so its not recording when you're not playing. What every good reverse needs is to be able to keep recording while its playing back, the D 12 can't do this. While my DD5 can do this, there's no mix option. The D 12 fell short in a lot of my expectations, although not a bad console, ecspecially if you can get it for cheap, I'd consider higher end delay racks (Gibson Digital Pro Echoplex[YEAH RIGHT!!!], Line 6 Echo Pro, TC Electronics D two...) as an alternative.

Fairly straightforward to use despite the cryptic manual. Although it does have an input gain control, it has no overload indicator. A couple of the functions take a moment or two to figure out, but overall it won't take long to know your way around.
One major design flaw was the optional 3 button looper control interface. One would think: record, play, stop, but record isn't an option. I ended up getting a midimouse just so I could access record via a footpedal.
Sound Quality

Clean, low noise. The effects depth control is very deep. This isn't a boss effect where the best setting is "10". I mostly use it as a chorus and a simple looper, both uses yield good audio results. I gave it a couple points off, though, for a minor quirk: when recording the loop, the output tone becomes thin. Plays back fine.. Maybe some sort of phase cancelation.

I was looking for a simple looper that was also a chorus unit and this was about the only rack unit I found capable of bothin this price range. I play full time, about 15-20 gigs a month, and don't want to be hauling around racks of gear. In that respect I love the thing. It's not a flexible looper (you can't even overdub), nor, in the age of multi-effects, a very flexible effects unit, but I'd definetly buy another if this was stolen. In fact I payed a bit more to grab one of the last remaining "new in the box" units as I believe it has been discontinued.

Easy to use.The manual is a little to short.
Explains most functions, but this could have been better done.
It is great, that you can dial your delaytimes.Eventhough the scaling
of it is very rough.First steps are made in 10ms,then in 100ms.
Unfortunately it is not possible to refer the "looped" Material of
the delay section to the sampler section.
The dimension is a little bit like Dr.Jekyll and Mr.Hide in usage.
Sound Quality
:

The sound quality is good.Only longer and heavy looping lets the
sound loose a bit of brightness. But this can be traced as an own
effect.I can not complaint about this "behaviour".Sometimes it
produced a very unique sound. But this is a question of taste.
The sample function is OK,but seldom used it.
Interesting is the Modulation section.A kind of analog feeling.
Unfortunately the knobs have also an "effect" when not switched on.
This is a bug, wich should not be available in a ready product.
Nice is also the "backwards" function. This can make some fun.
I use it only in delay/loop mode. The sample function mades not much
sense to me.Its functions are to limited.

This device is a little problematic. Not a full sampler and not a
full Looper. It is somewhere in between and makes an impression, that
it was not ready developed.
Nevertheless I like this thing. So I own two of them, wich I use in
paralell setting.
To me it is very usefull in delay Mode.Especially for looping.
Easy to use.
I don't want to loose them.Or better said,I want to expand it to
four devices.Hahahahaha....
Each one with a different delay/loop time, where I can later fiddle
and shape the sound by Modulation and so on.
The only thing I miss, that I can not transfer the finished loops
to a Sample Bank of it.This is a dilemma.
But for live usage this device is great. It makes fun to play with it.

i bought this after reading about it on loopers-delight.com.
think of it as a nice budget looper. good for long delays, but

sound is pretty good when you use the sampler. pretty much
what you put in is what comes out. there are 4 banks of 6 sec
samples, or you can combine for two 12 second samples. you can also loop it so it repeats. or you can play it backwards. pretty easy, fun to use, can get some good textures/sound/noise. the delay is decent too, up to 12 secs. i've been having fun w/ setting up a delay and then shortening it or making it longer (saw david torn do that on his "painting w/ gtr "vid). can get some fun things going. the only thing i wish is that the sampling rate for the delay was a bit better, at times it sounds muted, etc. but other times it's ok to my ears. also has an lfo/effects button, where you can mangle the delay or sample. kind of fun to get a nice warble, etc. my biggest complaint about this is that the delay and sampler don't work in conjuction. if you're in sample mode, then hit delay, you lose your samples. there's been a bunch of times when i think the layers of delay would be perfect to sample, but no go. oh well. guess everything has it's limitations. but i will say that it's fun to work w/ delay/sample times of 12 seconds, versus my old delays of 2 seconds. makes a world of difference.

The Dimension12 is really easy to use. Also without manual you are able
to the routine out of this machine.Easy userinterface(Hardware).
So for guitarists wonderful. No parameter Deathmatch.Just knobs and
buttons ! Eventhough not analogue, parameter entry is nearly like that.
So be on the fly !
The manual is short, but gives all necisarry information wich is needed.
Maybe a little "Seminar" would have been a nice goodie, but is not
needed.
The Dimension12 is perfectly suited for live performance.
Don't expect a real sampler-eventhough it is a sampler-but the delay
section is amazing.Plus the nice effect function.
Another fine thing are the two outputs. What can we do with it? One is
called monitor and one mains. In long delay mode,I don't use the
feedback.I route the monitor out back to another channel of the mixing
console. This channel will be send to the Dimension 12 again. But via
this channel I can shape the sound by equalizer or another inserted effect..Well,the device is very flexible for such things.
It offers a great playfield for looping and regeneration.
Maybe loop inside or via a shaped analog feedback.Really great and easy
to use.
I missed only a clipping device in the input section. This would have
been a great help !
Dimension12 is easy to use.That's a fact.

How does a delay sounds ? Ehhhhhhmmmmmm....
The sound quality is good and acceptable.Try a 12 second delay with
infinity regeneration. After a few minutes you will recognize that the
audiomaterial gets shaped.High frequencies gets slowly cut and the
sound changes to a kind of compressed pudding. But this is no minus.
Only a a vewry few will use such large delaytimes with infinity
regeneration. The effect is not so extreme as with analog tapeloops.
For hardcore delay feedbackers this coloured sound-after a lonfg time-
can have a special aesthetic.
The Dimension 12 sounds good.
I use the Dimension 12 in a Live Setup.Well I use two of them.Mostly
I use the Delaysection, because of its long delays.
Some people may complaint, that the resolution of delay is in 10 ms and
over 10 seconds in 100ms.Some would say rough. But for such long delays
wich can be used for looping,it is not so important to have a smooth
resolution. For short delays there are millions of other devices out.
DOD found an acceptable compromise of the resolution.

The DOD Dimension12 is a devixce for a handfull of specialists.
Some will be happy about the wide range of delay and its internal and
external routing possiblities. The sampling section is a nice gimmick.
But for sampling I have still my old Ensoniq EPS16*,so no need for
this section.
It sounds OK.Nothing to complaint.
For that price, the Dimesnion12 is something good for everyone, who is
intersted in long delays, looping, delayeffects and sampling.
Perfectly for live events.Plus optional footswitch.
Wether fish nor flesh,it is a special tool for a few ones.Especially
for live cracks.

Well, the Dimension12 is really eay to use, like a coffe mashine.
The front panel offers all what is needed.Especially when in a Live
situation, this device is easy to use.It is a real good compromise for
hardware screwing frenzy and software frenzy. It has a kinf of analogue
feel. For guitarist it is also useful, but you need two hands for
guitarplay-no one expects you are Stanley Jordan-but for guitarists
there is an optional footswitch wich will make ease of use fantastic.
Or over MIDI-Footpedal.
The Dimension12 offers for everone a good user Interface.Wether you are guitarist/keyboarder or DJ,the mashine will work by a few screws.
A good compromise for all musicans.Easy to understand and a fun to
"screw".

The Dimension 12 offers a good and clear sound. For live events its
sound quality is great and satisfying.Studio related it is OK,but not
state of the Art.But such view is a little childish. No ne will listen
to a Dimesion12 only.So also for Studio it is still usable.
Also it offers some unique sounds by screwing the MIX knob.It shades
then some random ptichshifting in sound,in Delay mode of course.
The sampling section is what we can expect nowadays from a sampling
section.Easy to use, with some rudimentary gimmicks. That's OK in
Live situation for a DJ.
Use the Dimension 12 in a guitar Setup,it will be more fun with the
Delay and Effects Mode.Infinity looping of a long delay, will cause at
least some nice results.Washing and Shading effects, wich will give a
special flavour to the sound.
The effect section adds a nice pitch LFO to this all.Ever wanted to
fly in a carousell ? Well,use a Dimesion 12.
The Dimension 12 offers a good sound quality with a unique colouring
of sound in process.
Recommended for all guitarist, who like delays and Pitch manipulation.
For DeJays also intereting by its ease of use in Life Performance.

I speak as a guitarist.Easy to handle with an analogue feel.
I play this four device for nearly two years anf they never made me
grey hair.
The Dimesnion 12 has some nice egocentric unlinear action by knobs.
This fits very well to my sound of guitar. It is not a strange effect,
but it fits very well to guitar.
Someone, who grew up with the first analog delays, will appreciate the
handling and sound of the D12 very much.It is really flexible, also by
footswitch.The D12 is amzing,especially for the price.
