Can't say it's the simplest pedal ever because it has two knobs, not just one...that said, this will not require endless hours of tweaks. Just "Tone" and "Level"

It is amazingly simple to get good tone out of it.

Sound Quality : 9
Kinda crazy - I've been through so many clean boosts, overdrives, etc - like Fulltone OCD, Radial Tonebone Plexitube, Keeley Modded SD-1, TS-9 Reissue, Zvex Box of Rock, Visual Sound Jekyll and Hyde, VS Route 66 - and others, and during that whole time let this thing sit on my shelf in a box.

I bought it in 1996 as a preamp for my acoustic. When I sold that, I forgot about this.

Then I read the HC review about the pedal and got inspired.

Here is my newly found simple set up -

Guitar (1991 Ibanez RG 770 or 2008 Les Paul Standard or 1996 Fender American Stratocaster with Lace Alumitones, or Epiphone Joe Perry Les Paul) ---> Morley Passive Volume --> Marshall JCM 800 2205 with Outlaw Chorus and the DOD FX10 in the effects loop.

This pedal in the effects loop gives the sound massive heft. I probably needed to go through all of the overdrive pedals to learn my lesson, and now I did. This this is outstanding.

It is quiet and provides no coloration to your tone - just up to a 20db boost of pure clean power.

Reliability : No Opinion
I will not be using this to boost solos - I'm the rhythm guy in my band - so it will be on full time. I am expecting to not worry about the switch, although I can understand how people might.

The casing is die cast metal and sturdy - the internal components inside look find (but I'm no electronics guy). I do like the feel of the knobs - substantial - slow and heavy.

Never needed them

I'm done looking. Period.

Nothing could be easier.

I have to take exception to the review below. This unit does not alter your tone or add any sizzle UNLESS you are using very high output pickups, and this unit DOES have a buffered output. ALL fet switching pedals have a buffered output and convert your signal to low impedance from the lowly Arion to the over-hyped Klon. DUH!!

Furthmore what is a "class a" pedal? Class A is a type of circuit design. It is not a grade given by an audiophile magazine or something. It is just a buzz term that tells you nothing about the sound quality of a preamp.

I have owned many clean boost pedals even the Klon. This really is the best I have found.

Two self-explanatory knobs

Sound Quality : 5
It is an ok clean boost pedal but not a very good one.
It does color your tone a bit, it ads a bit of sizzle to the top end and takes away some of the punchiness leaving a bit spongy sounding.

I am a fanatic about my tone and nothing sounds as good as my Les Paul or strat plugged directly into my Marshall Super Lead amp.

As soon as you ad any pedal (true-bypass) or not it will remove some of the punch and tone.
Theoretically one way to get around this is to use a class A circuit buffer like the Radial BigShot PB1 or the ValvulatorI which converts your high impedance signal from non-active pickups to low impedance so it can travel through long chords and multiple stomp boxes without suffering tone sucking of punch and clarity.

Don't listen to the other reviews that say the sound of this pedal is a 10. These people obviously are not comparing it to class A circuit clean boost pedals. I have tried many and the best is the PB1, Valvulator because they also include a buffer but another good one is the clean boost on the Diamond J Drive pedal (very sweet clean boost).

So far still works

Bought used.

Very simple + it has a Tone knob. Awesome for "dialing" that extra bass/treble tone.

Sound Quality : 10
Works great. Great clean boost. Can be used for many preamp applications.

Have been using the same pedal for over 2 yrs.

Gig 3x a week with no backup.

I use a Fender-SuperSonic amp and the FX-10 provides the solo boost I need.

Been playing 35 yrs.

This pedal is dis-continued so I have acquired another two just-in-case.

I used to use a MXR-MicroAmp, but the FX-10's tone knob helps me "dial" the bass/treble tone when needed.

after going thru many many boost pedals i found this one by cheer luck , this guy had an auction on e bay for a pearl octave pedal .but he had a picture of his entire pedal board that showed the pearl octave pedal and other pedals he use . i e mailed him asking him about the DOD pedal that he had on his pedal board as well . he told me this is the best clean transparant boost pedal . i usually dont believe everything people claim ,but ofcourse being the pedal whore i am i had to get one to hear for myself ,before i have tried fulltone fat boost ,keeley java boost and analogman beano boost ( just a few that come to mind )they all added color and altered my over all charactor of my guitar tone . i plugged this thing and i was floored , this pedal gave me a hard on and that is when i know i have something that is worth it , yes my dick is my indication if i hear something good LOL . this brought my guitar tone to the front .again without no conservation THIS IS THE BEST CLEAN BOOST PEDAL EVER .get one while you can . trust me .

It takes at least two brain cells to operate. If you can't work "tone" and "volume" you should probably find a different hobby.

Sound Quality : 9
I bought this pedal about 13 years ago as a pre-amp for my acoustic guitar. I use it now as part of a pedal board for clean boost on blues solos, or when the other guitarist just gets to loud. It does one thing, and does that very well. Totally clean boost with no tone coloration or loss.

Reliability : 9
I have gigged with it in all kinds of bars, spilt beer on it more times than I can remember, and it just keeps going.

The switch is a bit dinky, but I don't hit it fifty times a night like a lot of players, so I haven't seen any problems there yet. If it does break, I'll replace it with a big stomp box switch and keep playing.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never called. Don't think I've ever even looked at their web site.

Overall Rating : 10
I play a stock 1997 PRS McCarty, and a Gibson ES-335 with the 57 re-issue pickups. We've got a local cover band and play everything from Garth Brooks to Nickleback to James Taylor to whatever we feel like. I'm very picky about pedals that color my tone, and am very happy with the fact that this one doesn't. Even after all the abuse it still sounds great.

2 knobs

Level and Tone - you know how it works already

Sound Quality : 10

I just got this a few days ago and I usually wont review something during the honeymoon phase so I wanted to get that out of the way.

Its a clean, pure transparent boost. It packs a hell of a punch as well - if anyone is expecting anymore from this you will be dissapointed, no modelling, no flange, no verb, etc....this is a simple boost and one of the cleanest ive came into contact with

No bass loss, nothing about the tone is different except the sweetness you get from running this into a hot amp and pushing the tubes further

Reliability : No Opinion

Hope the footswitch holds up, other than that its a tank...

Overall Rating : 9

Overall I think its great. i was tired of overdrives loosing the low end or adding lower/upper mids and grit - this is pure transparent power.

Easy! I didnt have to read the manual of anything...just get right to it. Set the right tone and level and this pedal is ready to boost!.

Sound Quality : 9
It gets little noises when u turn the tone to the max...but thats hard ever the case, cuz setting the tone at around 2 o'clock will give to the right amount. other than that, this pedal is superb! Great boosting sound...and it really make ur guitar roar esp when it boosts a tube amp.

Reliability : 8
Dunno yet, just got it. But its made from metal, heavy....seems tough...the only thing is the battery cover is plastic...and seems very fragile..

Customer Support : No Opinion
havent dealt with them...dont need to

Great preamp pedal, bright, clear, and aggressive...if u want it to be. Perfect for boosting tube amps...

Ease of Use : 10
It's a louderator pedal. Though it has a tone control, the pedal is to make your signal louder. There's a volume control too. It controls how much the volume goes up when you step on the ON switch. I think the tone control is basically a high-cut. If there was no tone control, it would be easier to use, but only for somebody already very stupid. It's nice that there's a LED to indicate when it's activated.

Sound Quality : 10
It's not noisy at all. I don't think there's any coloration of the sound except if you turn down the tone control, and then the highs are less loud.

Reliability : 9
I lost the battery compartment cover. Silly me. Now I keep the battery in with black electrical tape. Works good. I've gigged with it a lot. I'll gig more with it.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never tried to contact them. Maybe they would sell me a battery compartment cover.

Overall Rating : 9
Doesn't matter what style of music you play, what you plug into it, or what you plug it into. It's a nice clean boost. The only thing I don't like about it is that it apparently takes a nonstandard external power supply, 10 volts or something. But because it's a low-level FET device, the battery lasts practically forever.

I'm very happy with it.

Very transparent and very powerful. Ideal to boost your sound when it's soloing time in a loud band.

Reliability : 2
I had to remove it from my pedal board. The switch, that had already started to get temperamental a couple of months ago, is now totally out of order. The unit remains "on" whatever I do. It's a SHAME for a brand that claim to produce among the sturdiest stomp boxes on the market. If I can't get it fixed, I might go for a Nobels preamp/booster.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I don't expect any, as I live in Europe.

Overall Rating : 6
I bought this unit because there was no other booster/premp available in the shops at that time.I hate having my gear stolen (who doesn't), but should this happen, I'd have some kind of compassion for the poor jerk who'll endlessly be trying to turn it off...HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
PIty for that switch, really. Otherways a very good sounding, and helpful box.
