wow...i am certainly impressed. ive already placed a review on this pedal, but that was only a couple days after i played it. its been nearly a year now...and lemme tell ya, i always gig with it...sadly enough, the switch broke! now it wont turn off! thank god! i would rather have it always on than off. the sound is very "green". very british. i put the gain up...to about 7 oclock. add more grit to my ds1. great stuff man...i cannot get a better tone. i use it with the distortion + as well...just as good. this is an all around great pedal. im going to buy another on ebay when i see one!

I play a fender strat thrue dod fx100 - Boss dm-2 - Musicman HD130 and this pedal gives me exactly the kind of "Johnny Winter meets Angus" sound that I've been looking for since I first started to play.
It's a very fat sounding pedal that cleans up nicely if you beg for it. When pushing the gain knob up it totally agrees with you and goes from fat blues to straight on rock n roll. I've owned a bunch of od's, ts-8, maxon od-808, Boss sd-1, bd and many more.. this is the only one left in my pedal collection. Why? Because it kicks ass!

I play heavy blues - rock n roll as it was done in the 70's and this pedal is everything I could ever ask out of a OD. I Love it.
They seem to be very hard to get and if it breaks I'll do anything to get a new one, anything!
Another good thing about this pedal is that it works great no matter what amp you're using. I've played it thrue Marshalls, Peavey's, even tryed it thrue some solid state's and it always sounds great.

this is my setup right now, when im not gigging (i just got it,so m just noodling around with it right now til i have practices) . i use my us made bc rich warlock, or my custom gibson-strat>>modded mxr phase 90>>dod I.T.>>modded (analog man, thank you) boss ds-1>>rock amp studio lead>>crate 4x12. the sound quality is PERFECT! ive been playing for about 10 years, and i got john sykes sound (from whitesnake) NAILED! i use it as a booster, and boy am i happy i bought it. i cant wait til i have my next gig! the sound is full, sucks absolutely no tone, and can add tons of gain to a distortion pedal or amp. a great amount of sustain added, and it also doesnt have too much of everything. the sound on it is just perfect!

i play a mix of hard rock, blues, and a bit of 80s metal. this pedal does wonders for me. been playing almost 10 years, i own the two guitars i listed, a Crate Blue Voodoo stack, Rock Amps studio lead combo, Randall stack, and a couple Fender champs. a bunch of pedals (mxr dist. +, modded mxr phase 90, modded boss ds-1, danelectro echo, crybaby wah (the orignal, from 1973), dod eq, dod chorus, dod digital dist., dod tube driver (i hate it), and electro harmonix big muff pi.) if it were stolen, id cry for a while and then id look for another and buy it again. what else could i ask for? this pedal isa dream come true, ands the tone and amount of extra gain ive always wanted.ive found THE SOUND for myself. ive tried the ibanez tubescreamer, its good, but to me, this pedal just sounds...i dunno...better. to me though, although the tube screamer sounds good just by itself, i dont need an overdrive just by itself. i need it to boost the distortion. i recommend it to anyone and everyone who can get their hands on one.

It is great as far as it goes. Five pedals may be limiting to some players. The built in power supply with dual voltage and no Transformer/wall wart is a giant plus

Simple to use. Four knobs (Level, Lows, Highs, and Drive), two outputs (effect out, and speaker emulation out), and not a bad sound to be found. The manual suggests a couple of settings (nice plus) but do let these be a limiting factor. This pedal is full great sounds.
Sound Quality

Pros:
- Flexible
* Sound like a Marshall with the drive cranked
* Sounds like a Hiwatt with the drive at noon (think David Gilmore)
* Sounds like a Vox with the drive at 10 o?clock and Highs at 3 o'clock.
- Warm, rich natural sound that is not too harsh or bright or dark.
- Unreal Crunch!
- Good for lead work
- Has great sustain, better than most other
- Very quiet and does not suck tone.
Cons:
- Okay low end but can be a little mushy - not the best pedal for a metal-head
- Not the best for bell-like, screaching lead tones
Worked well with the following distortion pedals:
- Peavey Hotfoot
- Fulltone ?69
- 70?s block logo MXR Distortion +
- Boss DS1
Did not work well with:
- Turbo Rat
- Little Big Muff Pi
With Strat, blackfaced Bassman 50, a 2x12? cab w/ Celestion Vintage 30?s and no other effects, personal sonic Nirvana found at:
Level = 2 o?clock
Lows = noon
Highs = 2 o?clock
Drive = 11 o?clock
A desert island pedal, period.

If you like old rock, the FX100 is definately worth looking into. It's tone is warm and crunchy. It compares very favorably to pedals costing 3 times as much. I prefer it to the Ibanez TS9 (modded to 808 specs, vintage JRD4558D) and the Sobbat DB2. My only complaint is that it's bass could be just a tad tighter... A great pedal made even better by the price...

I can hardly find a BAD sound it it. It's a great heavy blues, brit style pedal.
Four controls = Output, Lows, Highs, Drive.
Two outputs = To Amp and Speaker Out.

I've used it with a Strat into a class A Ampeg amp. I love the sound it makes. It like big old Marshalls, Humble Pie - Rocking the Fillmore Style. It isn't too noisy, loud as hell. I can set the Drive anywhere from 0 to full tilt and it all sounds great. The Lows and Highs do sound weakened when set to less than halfway settings, but sound great anything above half. A very versatile pedal, from mild overdrive to all balls out roaring. There is a speaker out for going to console and when going to the amp, it can add a little sweeter sonic texture. This thing has lots off Marshall overtones and harmonics, sounding like a Marshall dimed. For old style 60's heavy blues, this thing is it.

Dunno. I had one before that I bought used and it tanked while sitting around in storage. I plugged in one day and it did nothing but hum like it had a short across ground. This is my second one, but this one is NOS and I hope it will fare better.

I play dinosaur rock/blues/60's style.
I own many other pedals, many other guitars and amp. Been playing since 1969.
It's very musical sounding while still kicking tail. It reminds me of old Humble Pie sound, heavy blues...

Easy to get a good tube emulation sound and it's one of the best I've heard.

Playing a Fender Strat through a Peavey Ranger 120w tube amp and it is absolutely the best overdrive I've heard compared to Visual Sound,Tech 21,Carl Martin,Danelectro. A real diamond in the rough.Good for Clapton,SRV,Santana,Stones sound of the 60's and 70's.These pedals must not have goteen much exposure because they are the real deal.This and the fx101 which has a bit more sustain are a real bargain ,but the sound cannot be beat.I bought this out of curiosity and sold my other pedals because I had 'FOUND' what I was looking for.Many other pedals say they sound like a tube or an overdriven amp but this one really does emulate them with a nice big fat overdriven helping of amp in a box.Try one,you won't look back at all the booty wana-bees and act a likes,it's that good......been playing 35yrs

Used with a Fender Fat Strat into a Laney LC15 I just couldn't find any warmth in the tone at all. Bass at 10, treble at zero and it still sounded crackly and harsh. I could hear that the IT thing could work i.e. it responded to pick attack well but the tone just wasn't there.

9 I PLAY A FENDER STRAT WITH A DIMARZIO SUPER DISTORTION IN THE BRIDGE GOING INTO A PEAVEY BANDIT 65 ( IT SUCKS EGGS )WITH THAT OUT OF THE WAY, I MUST SAY THAT THIS IS ABSOLUTELY THE BEST SOUNDING SOLID STATE DISTORTION I HAVE EVER HEARD PERIOD. IT IS CRUNCHY, GRITTY THICK RAW TONE AND FULL OF SUSTAIN WHILE BEING JUST WARM ENOUGH TO SMOOTH EVERYTHING OUT. THE ONLY THING BAD ABOUT IT IS THAT IT DOES'NT PALM MUTE VERY WELL. bUT I HAVE HEARD WORSE. THIS IS DEFINATELY THE SOUND I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR. I WOULD RATE IT A 10, BUT I LIKE TO PALM MUT A LOT SO I GIVE IT A 9

Sounds fabulous...a bit british...like some others have mention. Great pedal to put in front of a saturated tube amp. If you have a clean sounding fender..or one of those small 10w tube amps that lack preamp distortion...you will love this pedal.
I usually don't give out 10's....although this gets real close. Its got quite a unique sound.

It's a real shame that this pedal is no longer in production...one of the best sounding "non-boutique" distortion pedals. Overall for value...it would be sin to give it anything less than a 10.
If you can buy it used...don't pass up the chance...give it a try..you will be pleasantly surprised.
