This thing is not for those blues guys,This is pure thrash,Pantera,Soulfly,Skinlab. Not for the weak of heart thats for sure. The nob names are kind of weird but I like them.If you like the kind of music I like then you shouldn't have a problem getin a mosh pit started.

I play a 83 Gibson explorer with a duncan dist in the bridge and a pearly gate up front in the neck, and a modified fender strat with one duncan custom in the bridge.(and soon hopfuly a new Gibson smartwood exotic those things are bad)and my current setup--cp-9 ibanez compressor--digitech whammy--dod grind--fz-2 boss fuzz--ge-7 boss eq--bf-2 boss flanger--ps-3 boss pitchshifter/delay--and the famous mxr phase 90 through a jcm 900 50 watt 2x12 combo and a rockman 12 band eq in the effects loop.I have heard some people say that it has no tone but i can get damm good tone out of it.gilmour tone with some slight delay, but only when you play lead cause when you hit a chord its pure thrash.Even you KoRn kids would like this thing.Im more of a oldschool hardcore fan.but I like some of the newer stuff(soulfly,Nothingface, slaves on dope, dope) basically Thrash. Anyways I give it a 9 it would of been a 10 but its kind of noisy

I found a weird theremin-type sound from this pedal. First, plug any 1/4" speaker into the output. Then, get another 1/4" jack, and BARELY plug it in (just enough for the LED to go on). Now, turn the volume and distortion all the way up. It should be making some sort of tone. The "rumble" knob controls the frequency, and the "burn" knob acts as a presence. I can create siren, hums, UFO sounds, whines, and many other annoying sounds with this method.

Standard controls for Volume, Low, High, and Distortion, with DOD's lame names (blast, rumble, burn, fear). Easy to find a good sound, as long as you keep the "burn" (high) knob under 3 o'clock. I have never used the "Ext. Speaker Out", so I don't know what that is like. This was my first distortion pedal, and I figured it out fairly quickly. The reason for the 7 is the names on the knobs (thank god DOD's new pedals don't have "cool" names...

It is very versitile for a distortion pedal, the distortion knob has a VERY nice range, and all of the settings on that knob are usable. When it is all the way down, you get an almost clean sound, and when you pick harder, it gets more distorted. It goes from clean to pure, thick distortion. It has a LOT of bass, I never use the knob above 2 o'clock. The treble can get a bit piercing, so be sure that it is pretty low. This pedal sounds best with the tone knobs in the middle. The sample settings are pretty good, especially the "Seattle" setting. It can go from clean boost, to overdrive, to thick punk/metal distortion, so it is very versitile for a distortion pedal.

If distortion is what you are looking for, this pedal will get you pretty much any crunchy distortion sound you could ask for. If you see one cheap, pick it up. I find it much better than the "Grunge" pedal, it is crunchier, without the shrill high end of the Grunge. Great first distortion pedal.

I love the low end crunch this pedal will give you if you mess with it for a minute or two. I play it through a fender bass amp and its really hard to fuck it up

like I said I use a fender bass amp with a peavey Patriot six-string.I admit it is rather noisy, but i recommend turning the low all the way up, the mid all the way down, and the high all the way up. This will give you a crunch that will make your balls rattle!

THIS SOUNDS AWESOME I USE IT AS A GET THE FUCK UP MOSHING DISTORTION. SO I KEEP THE GAIN AROUND 3 0' CLOCK AND THE VOLUME DOWN WITH THE RUMBLE ALMOST CRANKED AND THE TREBLE DOWN. THAT'S MY EVERYDAY SETTING. I DON'T USE IT WITH ANY OTHER PEDALS EXCEPT A UNI-VIBE FOR A DEEP WATERY SOUND. I USE THIS WITH IBANEZ RG7620 AND A FRETLESS RG7620 ( NOT MUCH WITH THE FRETLESS JUST FOR DISTORTED LES CLAYPOOL SOUNDS ) WITH A MARSHALL PRACTICE AMP FOR HOME AND A MARSHALL 4X12 CAB. KIK ASS!

My technophobe friend can use it. If you don't get a manual, the stupid names can give a little trouble, so I'll tell you what they do. 'Blast': volume, 'Rumble': lows, 'Burn': highs, 'Fear': gain. Mids are dependent on positioning of the two-tone knobs. Once you've got the tone set how you want it, just stomp on the big, black, plastic switch. The manual gives sample settings, which are good starting points.

This thing is noisier than a Slayer gig! All right, that's slight exaggeration, but it does give off a LOT of noise, my Metal Zone has about double the gain and half the noise. That gripe apart, it does sound good. I use this for a thick, heavy grunge sound, which I need for certain songs. I can get a good Soundgarden sound with this and other people have used this for a Korn type sound, which I really don't want! I wouldn't recommend this for someone who wants to play 'proper' metal, like Machine Head or Pantera, go for a Boss Metal Zone or Rocktron Rampage. My style is Goth/Doom metal blended with thrash and heavier grunge music. I use an Ibanez RG with DiMarzio Evolutions and this thing sounds very thick with it, which is what I wanted. It was my first distortion pedal, a couple of years back, when I used a terrible Strat copy and a cacky amp, now it is still in my setup but is used less as my style (and technique) has evolved greatly. It sounds really good with a Les Paul as well, but single coils don't sound a great as I thought when this was all I had! The speaker simulation jack is crap, by the way.

It's a big hunk of metal, and the knobs seem solid enough. It's lasted me for about 2 years with no problems, but I don't really stomp on this the way I would a Boss or Rocktron, due to the plastic switch. I would gig without a backup, but change the battery beforehand.

Living in England makes it a little hard to deal with companies direct, as they are American, but I've never needed to try and call DOD.

It's got a good sound, but is very noisy. Fortunately I have a Rocktron HUSH rack, which deals with this. I hear it has been deleted, but if you can get hold of one, I would recommend it. These days it is not a vital part of my setup, but is still used and when it comes out, it fits the song perfectly. Something which I think sounds really cool, if you're interested, is a slow sliding power chord, like low F to G and back, with the gain on full. I really like that sound. Happy hunting.

It gives my amp some boost but provides some scratch noise and feedback, but only if it's pumped all the way. I use it on a Squier at home but for shows I use it on a 2X12 120 watt Crate amp.

I play rock (mostly loud and heavy) and it's the perfect pedal except for the noise. I've only been playing for a year,(I'm 13) but I think it's great. If it were stolen, I'd beat the guy do death! I compared to BOSS pedals, and they were to expensive. I chose this one because of ad's & i thought it looked cool!

This is simple to use: level, bass, treble, distortion (even with the suppose-to-be-cool names). It's not hard to get a decent tone out of it. The settings in the manual are okay, too.

It gets a little feedback but that is over-come-able (if there is such a word). I like the distortion it gets though, it's stronger than my Big Muff, but I can't really say I like it better than my Muff.

I like new metal/alterna-metal/pimp rock/hardcore whatever you wanna call it (KoRn, Deftones, Limp Bizkit, etc). I can get decent tones for them out of this box, the feedback sucks--it's really not that bad though. Only problem is ...this pedal's discontinued now, so, good luck finding it.
