You can get a great, subtle chorus out of it. The manual is cool, with some good settings, but to get the best sound, you should just play around with it. I haven't heard a bad sound yet. It only has two knobs, so it isn't complicated at all.

Sound Quality : 9
I use a Gibson SG-Special, and it sounds great. It has a very subtle chorus effect. I tried two differant Boss Chorus pedals, and this one was much better. The Boss had more extreme sounds, which some people may like, but if you want a peaceful, trippy sound, ge the Cool Cat. It sounds sort of neat with a Boss Metal Zone in front of it. Very easy to get a great sound. Hard to get a bad sound, actually... impossible, in my opinion. You can get a neat vibrato type effect, but not as extreme as the Boss.

Reliability : 8
I would say you could depend on it. The battery cover is cheap, and looks like it could break. It is very heavy, like a rock. The knobs look a little cheap, but I don't think they will break. I don't gig, but I plan on it, and I don't see a need for a back-up.

Never had to talk to 'em

Overall Rating : 8
I play mostly metal and industrial, but I love to do wild mood music. I would buy it again without even looking at another pedal. Much better than the Boss pedals. If you want a really wild pedal, get a Boss. If you want a great, subtle effect, get a Danelectro.

Two knobs, speed and chill (depth I guess) and one foot switch - it's not hard to use.

Sound Quality : 9
Tried it through a Fender Bassman with a PRS and it sounded lovely. As the other reviews have said it sounds really warm without that metallic edge. I would perhaps have liked the rate to go a little higher but the range of sound that it provides is all really useful. Nothing bad inside this little box. It seemed quiet but then I didn't have the amp really pumped because I was sitting in the shop window and I'm only a very average player. Unless I find a chorus that sounds better than this I will buy it eventually, it's really nice.

Getting a good sound here is as easy as plugging in. There are just two knobs; speed and chill (depth), and putting both at 12 always works just fine. The manual has a bunch of different examples of those old, classic chorus sounds, and it also explains how the controls works (if you can't figure it out by yourself).

Sound Quality : 8
I am a bass player, and use the Cool Cat between my old Ibanes fretless four-string and my 1965 Fender Bassman head driving a custom (home-made that is) 15" speaker. The chorus pedal hasn't yet made noise that I can hear, but there might be a little buried beneath the amp noise. I haven't tried it with my Meatball yet, but I dont think that is a killer combination anyway. The quality of the chorus is very good, at least compared to my former chorus, the UGLY-sounding Zoom 506, which I traded to get a slight discount (I never used it anyway). The sound works very fine for fretless, I can get quite a Scott Thunes sound with it. It does however, not to my suprise, get muddy and foaming at the higher settings.

Reliability : 9
I seriously belive I can depend on this pedal. It's made of cast (heavy) metal with a sturdy bottom plate covered with thick rubber to keep it from sliding away. The knobs are also metal, and so is the bypass switch, which by the way is of the electronic sort, with no click as you stomp it (except from a slight bump thru the amp). Would I use it on a gig without a backup? Yeah, why not? I am not relying on a chorus that much, so even if it does break, I will not. I do suspect, however, that if the batterys (two nine- volt cubes) shuld quit, I might mot get a bypass on it. Haven't tried it, though.

I play jazz/fusion stuff in a gospel choir, and subtle chorusing is a welcome addition in many a sonic situation. And it looks so incredibly cool! Buy it again? Well, I was actually planning to get myself a Lovetone Doppelganger, but economy didn't allow it. So, it might get replaced someday by the "big red" - not because of the sound, but rather the many sound options. (it has 8 knobs!) But the Cool Cat is BEST in its price range.

2 knobs, spped and chill, more commonly known as rate and depth. The unit is phisically BIGGER than I thought (I thought is was the size of a BOSS pedal. I was wrong. Ads can be deceiving.). Nevertheless, I was quickly able to get some good sound out of it with the manual's presets, which are more useful than those you see in other units.

Sound Quality : 10
The SOUND QUALITY is AWESOME. I say this because the title of this box is SOUND QUALITY. The assortment of sounds you can get from this box is ample, but not super. The sound is quiet at any setting, and the chorus effects are not "metallic", or "tinny" like most choruses. Very nice,

Reliability : 10
Very nice box. As hard as a BOSS, but looks a million times better. Very reliable, but requires TWO 9V batteries. I thought, "Hey, I have an adapter at home, no need to get more batteries for backup.". It turns out, it requires an DC18V adapter (yours is probally 9V). Queer. Dependibility is excellent, though.

This pedal is extremely easy to use. There is only two knobs, speed (speed) and chill (depth). If you're familiar with chorus pedals then the manual is useless, but if you're not the manual will come in handy.

Sound Quality : 9
The noise only occurs when its of for the first couple of minutes. Otherwise, it has rich, full sounds.

Reliability : 8
It's reliable, but (this could only be mine) the led doesn't work and if you turn it off after you first plug it in it doesn't work.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I'm gonna get it repaired or replaced as soon as can because of the above reasons but I'm not going to call Danelectro.

Overall Rating : 10
I would definetely buy it again but I'd test it before I walked out of the store. If it comes down to buying a BOSS or DOD chorus pedal get this one. It's fuller and doesn't sound as metallic as any of the others.

This unit is very simple and straight-forward to use!Their are 2 controls, a "Speed" for rate control and a "Chill" for depth control. It is effortless to dial in a variety of warm vintage sounding chorus settings! This chorus doesn't have that thin tinny, metallic sound that so many other chorus pedals seem to be dictated by.I am playing it through my Mesa-Boogie Subway Blues amp with a Fender American Standard Strat and it sounds excellent! It is very quiet when the Pedal is engaged! The manual has some very good recommended settings that sounded very good!THIS COOL CAT PURRS! I played all of the new CHorus pedals offered by Boss and the COOL CAT is a much smoother sounding chorus pedal than any of them.

Sound Quality : 10
This pedal is considerably quieter than most other analog chorus pedals that are available on the market!I don't think you can get a bad sound out of this pedal!Period!

Reliability : No Opinion
I have only had the pedal for 2 days, but felt compelled to submit this review since I frequently check the Harmony FX database to check out all the reviews!THis pedal is built like a tank and is absolutely the COOLEST looking Chorus pedal in existence!Only time will tell on the matter of reliability!

Customer Support : No Opinion
Since my Pedal is only 2 days old, I haven't had any dealings with the company yet!

Overall Rating : 10
Absolutely! It is just what the doctor ordered smooth, creamy chorus that is very easy to control. As I said above I compared it to the new Boss Chorus pedals and found the "Dano" to be much smoother and vintage sounding than the Boss's.If you are looking for a great-sounding Chorus pedal that will truly add a real, articulate chorus sound to your playing, this is it!IF LOOKS COULD KILL THIS PEDAL WOULD BE CALLED THE "TERMINATOR".

I could not ask for a better sound. Danelectro did a great job. I would definately buy this pedal again. In fact, it looks so cool, I think I'll buy a few to give to all my family and friends. For some reason, I have this strong urge to buy a Cadillac....

Just plug in! No need to stomp on the switch, a simple tap turns it on. The knobs are tight, so even if you step on 'em they should remain on the correct seting. Let me put it this way, if you can't work this thing, there is something wrong with you.

Sound Quality : 10
Almost dead silent. I can't imagine a better sounding effect. Makes my setup ("custom" strat through wah-wah into a Fender Hot-Rod DeVille 4x10 combo) sound 10 times better. I just got it yesterday & took it to a jam session last night, the drummer & bassist were impressed & I could see the jealousy in the singer/second guitarist's eyes.( I was also sporting a brand new VOX wah.) Get this, I was walking up to the store checkout desk to pay, & the guy who runs the effects department stopped me and said, "Aw! Man,you got a Cool-Cat? Damn! Those things are great!" He was right, this is the best pedal. The manual come with some excellent sugestions for basic operation. By turning both knobs (speed & chill) to 12:00, I got a perfect imitation of VanHalen's sound from "316" off Foor Unlawful Carnal Knowledge. (It was origionaly recorded with a gibson Chet Atkins elec-acoust.)

Reliability : 10
If this thing ever breaks, better hitch a ride off the planet 'cause the world is about to end. The battery lid has to be forced into place, but even that shouldn't break for a while. Very solid. Can't tip it over. Sturdy enough so that if a rouge fan jumps up on stage, you can beat 'em back with no trouble. That would make a great story for your grand kids.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Haven't dealt with them.

Overall Rating : 10
If your gonna play guitar, you have to have a chorus pedal. If your gonna look good doing it, you have to have this one. It's the most beauitifuly made pedal ever. Gig without a back-up. Unless God has it in for you, you'll be fine. It comes with free batteries. You know you want one.

Very easy to tailor the chorus effect. All the way to simple straight forward chorus to a rotating speaker like effect. May be able to even reproduce a flanger-like effect with careful tweaking. Two simple controls: Speed (sweeps) and Chill (depth). The owner's manual, like the Daay O.'s comes with different suggested settings to get quite specific effects. May be connected for stereo effect with another amp.

Sound Quality : 10
Sound is great!!! The speed is quite versatile and the depth can be controlled from very subtke to a howl. For the vintage freaks a very cool rotating chorus setting is suggested in the manual and sounds very good. You get all the way from vintage to grunge with another distortion pedal. Better effect if connected through the effects loop. This as you may know makes your set-up more versatile. I use it in conjunction with the Daddy O. and the amp's overdrive. Excellent with tube amps but also good with transistors. Sold a Zoom multi effects when I got the Daay O. and the Cool Cat.

Reliability : 10
Just like with the Daddy O. I won't use back-up. this thing looks indestructible and beautiful.

Customer Support : 1
Nope. Haven't had the need to call the company. don't think I will have to.

Overall Rating : 10
Hell, i'd recommend the Cool Cat to anyone. Looks extremely cool, sounds good and best of all very versatile and simple as far as chorus pedals go. An incredible bargain in comparison to other pedals out there. May not have lots of controls like other pedals, but like I say with everything in music and life: beauty strives in simplicity. If you want and can: purchase. I am almost sure you won't regret it.
