Danelectro DJ-2 T-Bone Distortion

There's a button and two straightforward knobs. Can't get much simpler than that!

There really is no logical reason that a $5 distortion pedal should sound this good! Very thick, beefy sound - especially good for bass!

At low distortion, you can get a warm, bluesy tone. If you crank it all the way though, you can get an extremely hot, screaming tone with miles of sustain.

Speaking of cranking it all the way, the only reason I gave it an 8 instead of a 10 is because it gets very noisy past about 3 oclock on the distortion dial.

As for the sound, it hasn't changed a bit since I got it. Physically though, it's pretty pathetic. It's made of plastic, so it doesn't feel solid at all, and the knobs can easily pop off. I'm actually missing one of them, so I have to switch the remaining knob between controls to change anything.

I play all styles, but specifically with this pedal, I play rock and metal. It probably wouldn't be very good for super fast shredding hair metal stuff as it can be a bit muddy, but it's perfect for slow, lumbering doom metal which is what I like!

I have been playing guitar and bass for about 6 or 7 years. I have had a few cheapo guitars, but my current instruments are an Epiphone Dot semihollow guitar and a Wishbass Swirl fretless bass. As for amps, I just have a little Marshal 10 watt guitar amp and a Hartke 15 watt bass amp. This pedal sounds best with the guitar or bass running into the Hartke for the biggest, crunchiest tone.

This pedal is about as simple as it could get, two knobs, one footswitch, in jack, out jack and all labeled

Two Knobs, very easy to use.

I like the sound quality, I use it after my Zoom G2 for a lead boost and it is great for that. I wouldn't use this as a stand alone pedal. I have several guitars that I use but my main one is My Martin Stinger loaded with a GFS lil killer at the bridge and stock single coils for middle and neck pups. My amp is a kickass Crate VC50H (one of the few kickass amps Crate made) I don't like the "pop" sound when I engage it for leads. Other than that it works well for what I bought it for.

Dunno about this one yet but I am pretty easy on my gear so it shouldn't be an issue

I play in a cover band that does classic rock to Metal. I've been playing for 20 years and I own too much gear to speak of. If it were stolen or lost I'd probably buy another one. I like it better than my Japanese made DS-1. I like the punchy mids for leads. For what I paid for it theres no way I can complain about this pedal at all.

Only two knobs ( wish it had more as I am a geek/freak for more knobs on gadgets). Its all about control, Baby !!!

No one distortion does it all. I like distortion units and have 14 of them. This little best has its place for a particular kind of sound.

Simple - 2 knobs

Stratocaster, Neck PickUP, T-Bone with both knobs at 10 O'clock, guitar volumn at 5, 65 watt Fender on clean at vol 7 and away you go. Used as a Lead channel for a one-channel amp this thing produces some very warm, nice smokey blues notes. No noise, no "tone sucking" as someone else has put it. Very pleasing tones can be achieved with this pedal if you just fiddle with it 'til you get the sound you want. Metal? Fogetaboutit! Blues? yeahbaby!

Seems tough enough. should be reliable. Backup pedal? What's that?

I have not dealt with the company, but the Website sucks. It should have good sound demos of all their stuff and downloadable manuals, like the competition.

For Blues, Classic Rock, or Country I don't think you can find a better pedal for the money.

This thing sucks. It sucks away any decent tone you may have. Normally you could simply adjust the tone knob on your distortion pedal, but this thing doesn't have a tone knob. God it sucks.

Don't buy this. Dish out the 40$ for a DS-1. And if you're really serious, get a Tubescreamer or an amp with decent distortion.

totally easy to use - only two knobs so you can't go wrong. Easy to mix the right kind of sound...

using a strat copy (riviera), and a rox axe practise amp. this pedal is ok as a stand alone, but i prefer to use it to give a very chunky sound when palm muting - used after a Boss DS-2 Overdrive.
gives lots of feedback when used at high gain settings, but not of the harsh squealing type.
i play punk rock mainly so this pedal isn't of too much use to me, but it does its job as a stand alone pedal.
definitely not useful if you're trying keep the original sound of your guitar... and high frequencies are severely damped.

extremely dependable, while the casing is plastic it can take a good stomp - i actually tend to jump on my pedals and while rubber has come off my shoe onto the pedal, the surface of the pedal is hardly even scratched. as for the control knobs being knocked off, there is a footguard included for a reason - unless you deliberately boot the knobs with the tip of your shoe, there is no chance you will even touch them...
i've never heard of going into a gig with a backup pedal, but this pedal is perfectly reliable.

the pedal is useful to add to a distorted sound but i can't really say it's useful for my style, though my style isn't matched to the pedal.
i've been playing guitar for two and a half years, electric for one and a half.
if it were stolen i would miss the pedal but i doubt i would bother with buying a new one - i own a Boss DS-2 Overdrive distortion pedal and feel that this is does the job for me.
the pedal can be used as a volume booster, light overdrive or can have various wacky applications when placed in unconventional roles - i've used it to simulate the tremolo effect in Greenday's Boulevard Of Broken Dreams while tapping my guitar strings.

Well i run a peavey kb100 with a samick strat style electric with a Gibson Dirty finger pickup in the bridge position.I find the pedal very noisy at high gain.the distortion itself is nice and crunchy its just really hard to balance the clean and distortion evenly and whean i play live the feedback is too much and i end uo switching back to my gnx1.But again,obviously with the pickup i have which has alot of power there would be more feedback than usual.I think its best to use this pedal at home for practicing.

I would'nt depend on it for playing live,theres no threshold on it or compression so i would'nt use it without a backup.

I play punk rock so the sound is'nt matched best with what i play,but i'm more of a classical sound guy so i like a crunch sound.I have been playing for 3 years and it helps alot when practicing with my band at a lower volume level.

i find it very easy to get a good fat tone(70s hard rock and thick blues).

i use a 1973 fender bassman 100 though 2 12 celestions.my guitars are an american strat,mexican strat and a nashville power tele.i love the nice midrangy sound but the noise level at high saturation is a bit over the top.this pedal is great for playing cream,humble pie,neil youngs more raunchier rock.blues sounds great with this pedal.im only giving this category a 9 because of the noise at high gain.

the only problem i have had is the foot switch is a little slow.i have used it without a back up but i will probably get another one to be safe.

i play a mix of blues,southern,60s and 70s hard rock,rockabilly,country and classic rock.i have been playing for 30 something years and i play through a vintage fender amp and strat and tele guitars.if the t bone was lost i would buy another one.i love the vintage midrangy sound but i do not like the tiny knobs and the cheap foot switch. my biggest complain is the noise level and the cheap knobs.i would not make any changes other than what i mentioned.i believe this pedal gives me a good natural over drive that is transparent and smooth.all the real bad comments i hear about the sound are a little to critical.i think the sound is better than a lot of more expensive pedals.this is the only kick pedal i use.

well the description for this pedal is a cheesy 70s rock/fuzz tone, and cheesy is right. the pedal sounds really chunky and fuzzy but not in a good way. The only way this pedal reminds me of 70s rock was the hair bands that were one-hit wonders and the actual tone was probably destroyed in the studio to make it sound more "mainstream".

the only settings I found that were any good were pretty much the output on 2 o'clock, and the distortion at 2. Any farther and you're flirting with the line of tone degradation. I have a clip that I did of the T-Bone (www.soundclick.com/fxtreasurebox) and the clip is so nice with my clean tone, and you start getting into the groove, then I switch on the T-bone and it sounds like the end of the world. That's how intense and destructive it is.

I wouldn't recommend this pedal to you unless you're really into cheesy sounds and/or want a pedal that adds to your already distorted tone to make it sound like the sky is falling in.

Dano minis...mmm...they're more reliable than Arion and Rocktek, but I still wouldn't trust them very far.

I pretty much covered all I needed to say in the Sound Quality section. I wouldn't recommend this pedal to you unless you're really into bad, cheesy sounding distortion or you're using it as a booster to boost your already thick chunky scooped-out distorted sound to make it sound like the walls are caving in.

It's cheesy 70s rock at it's best, folks. Don't miss a beat!

Two dials, volume and level of distortion - simple as that. No manual provided, other than a 'recommended settings' guide which covers most Danelectro Mini-Pedals. I found that on all 'Dano' distortion or overdrive pedals, you need the level at about 1 o'clock - this doesn't seem to alter regardless of the amount of distortion.

I have found, as with almost all Dano pedals, that this is very noisy, even on it's own. It doesn't do subtle distortion well, so you need it at at least 3 o'clock for a good sound, by which time, the level of noise is plain silly. I like JUST enough distortion where you can get a 'chug' when playing palm-muted power-chords, but nothing as extreme as the 'metal' pedals. This doesn't q-u-i-t-e give that level of distortion, even at pull-pelt, although it does have a unique, warm fuzz which is pleasant (if very noisy).
I play most kinds of rock - Classic, Heavy Metal, Punk, Emo, and quite a bit of British Indie (Blur, Shed Seven). I have found this to be best suited to the latter and some classic rock (so I suppose, on that level, it does exactly as stated, being a 'vintage' pedal.

I use my equipment mostly for songwriting and home recording (as a practicing musician, I play Bass). I get very annoyed when I read comments like 'I wouldn't kick it' - It's a peice of electronic equipment, not a football!! I own several of these dano pedals and, although the quality of sound on these pedals is sometimes questionnable, they are ALL very sturdy. The footswitch is metal, as are the dials and the base, and the casing is hard, thick plastic. Anyone who thinks they are not up to the job on build quality surely has anger-management issues!

As you will see from my setup above, I have bought several of the dano mini pedals. These were all bought at once from ebay without first having the sense to try them out in a store first. Of all the Danos I have, I have found only the Auto-Wah, Phaser and Delay to be any good (despite this, the phaser is still noisy). I have now invested in and MXR Noise Gate. Noise reduction is essential when using these pedals - perhaps they could bring out their own - the 'Gammon and Pineapple' they could call it. I've also just ordered a Proco Rat Distortion pedal because I found this to be not what I wanted. There's gonna be some Dano pedals back on ebay pretty soon. Lesson learned - Try before you buy.

Well, it's easy to stomp. The problem being that if you stomp too hard the knobs fly off. And then if you breath on them they break off. Normally that's a reliability issue, but when they're THAT FRAGILE it suddenly becomes impossible to know where your settings are, etc.

Hey, I thought like everyone else that this was good distortion for the money. But then I compared it to my tube amp's natural distortion and holy crap! This thing sounds incredibly plastic. Disgusting, tone sucking, blurry, and full of negative feedback. My amp at the time was a Crate Vintage Club (they're only good amps, not really a Crate design). I smacked myself in the face and have used my amp's distortion ever since.

This is impossible to depend on. Danelectro messes up some of their AC jacks, but this one happened to have an ok one. Like I said, the knobs fall off and it begs not to be gigged. Don't waste your money.

Haven't tried to contact them. Maybe I should since they made this crappy thing.

I've been playing a couple years, and I'm pretty decent by now. As I already explained this is a tone sucking piece of junk. I play garage rock. Believe me, I like fuzzy tones and I am not a tone freak. This pedal, contrary to some reviews, does not deliver fuzzy tones. I am a minimalist. I should have every reason to like this pedal. But it's awful. If you see one in a store, don't look at it because you will become petrified. This is a great example of plastic tone, not even decent-plasticky like a DS-1 (at least how Kurt Cobain set his).

An extremely irritating problem is that my t-bone only works on a specific volume (5-6) of my guitar. At first i thought this was caused by my guitar, but i've tested it with some other guitars and i always get the same problem. if i turn it off, it still doesn't work on most volumes (i get some crackling sounds on max volume)

When it works, the sound is very nice and smooth. Very clear and singing lead works and deep bassy riffs too.

I think this pedal sounds like an overdriven amp with a fuzzy sound, so it's not supposed to sound like a High-gain pedal. You can't get a metal sound out of this, but'you really shouldn't expect that from a pedal that "simulates" (I just hate that word) the sound of the 60's!

I totally love this thing, especially with a slightly overdriven amp and using the t-bone as a booster/fuzzer. great for heavy-blues!!!!

I'm giving it a nine because it's a great pedal and it does what I expected and because it isn't the best pedal, I really can't give it a ten.

I don't like to jump on pedals, so this thing will last forever, though'it's made of plastic.

Very easy to use. There is a level and distortion knob. Stomp-on , Stomp-off. Very basic.

Sound is not bad at all. This is not a screamer pedal. It gives a very smooth distortion tone that gets thicker sounding as the distortion is turned up. Its a little noisy as compared to a Boss pedal, but as long as the amp you use it with has a fairly clean preamp stage, the noise is minimal and not that bad. I use it mostly with a Fender Hotrod DeVille 2/12. Its not my main unit, but I find it usefull for its thick midrange tone when doing certain solo work. If Danelecto had added a tone knob to this pedal I would give it much higher marks. But you can't complain to much when dealing with a pedal in this price range. For what it is, its not bad.

Ok, here is the shortcoming. The knobs on these pedals are cheap plastic which is easily broked if you don't carefully place your step. If you own one of these danelectro mini-pedals, you will be superglueing broken knobs back together. except it.

I have to give the pedal a fair overall rating. Heck, its not a Boss pedal by a long shot, but it does sound fair, and i intend on keeping mine. Its tone is a real-world-I-can-use-it sound. I don't regret buying it. Its cheap, decent sounding, and useable in a real world enviroment. Alot of pedals out there are not.

Yeah, this may be a bit noisy if you're looking to record. If you're just hacking around, this is a fun little pedal that has its own flavor. Nothing subtle, but also, brings the rock. I give it a 10 because "pristine sound quality" isn't my definition of a good distrotion pedal.

I'd depend on it to work fine through a gig. BTW - I don't know anyone who brings a second distortion pedal to a gig just in case. What's the point? It's not a camping trip.

You know, let's give this pedal a 9 because it's cheap, sounds pretty cool and not too fussy and you can buy it for really, really cheap. Close your eyes and you can make music with it.

Very fat and very juicy. It has sort of a lo mid/hi bass boost.
Not a lot of highs. It has a lot of gain. When you have it on high
gain you might as well leave your guitar volume up as you'll get too
much noise if you turn the guitar down. It's sort of like a big muff pi but without the flabby bass. I suggest you put an eq after it. If
you know who Leslie West and his playing with mountain this t bone sounds somewhat like that, fat and juicy like I first said.

by now I'm only a bedroom player, but i've played with a lot o stuff before, so I can tell how much good it is. I'm playing with a strat-like guitar (3 single-coils)through a small, 30 watt amp. For rhythm I use the amp distortion on full, for a fuzzy-tone, and for leads I step on this baby. It gives me a warm bass-mid boost tone, with sweet highs and great sustain. Playing with it without using the amp distortion gives me a pretty dynamic sound with a pretty good sustain. In my opinion this pedal doesn't really "distorts" it's more kind of a boost, I can hear some 60's-early 70's sound on it, a cleaner fuzz, great for blues and old hard rock like sabbath. On lower gain settings I can get the "while my guitar gently weeps" sound. Other thing: this pedal likes feedbacking, even playing on low volume,without being "hissie" or making unconfortable noises. I don't use any modulation or compressor, I don't like this kind of pedals very much, but both my little amp and the T-Bone still sounding great while I'm using my amp's "Echo". Anyway I'm giving it a 9 'cause I wished it had just a little more gain.

first time I saw it I was like "i'm gonna smash it with just one stomp", but then I realised that they were a bit more sturdy than I thought, but they're plastic anyway. I would gig with it without a backup, but I would keep the T-Bone on a very safe place.

I play basically indie/60's-70's rock-hard rock, so, believe me it's great for this kind of sound. I would buy another even if it were NOT stolen, only to keeping them to me! The best thing on it is really the 60's-early 70's vibe I was looking for and that Dano claims to have, it just needed a little more distortion, but i'm giving a ten because of it's price, incredibly cheap for what it makes!

No offense to the company... But this pedal really sucks. I was it to sound like trust company or something, but it sounds nothing like that. There's so much noise you can't hear what't being played!

It's a cheap pedal, it would probably break if I used it somewhere other than practice. If I had to, I'd make due, but unless that was the ONLY option, I'd throw it in the trash.

I play rock. IT SUCKS. I play a pretty sucky guitar n have a pretty bad amp, but those dont SOUND too bad, theyre just not put together to well... If it were stolen, I'd thank GOD for a reason to to buy a different pedal. Then again, I don't understand why someone would steal that... I compare to the Boss DS-1, and ya know what? I DIDN'T choose this one. That is a nice pedal, this sucks. I couldn't really understand what i was playing when I used this when I wrote, so now I write unplugged, because it just sounds so much better and I can hear what I play.

I am currently using a mess of other Dano pedals(about 14 others), along with a Fender '72 Custom Telecaster and a Fender Deluxe 85 amp. I personaly think it sounds pretty awesome. People complain about noise and what not, but just tweak the tone knobs on your guitar and the mid knobs on your amp, and it should reduce most of it. Keep in mind that playing at high volumes with any distortion will create some amount of noise, and some simple knob adjustment will keep any distortion from being too noisy. Also, ive found it helpful to turn the distortion knob all the way up, and just tweak the level knob. I do this, and I can get some phat distortion. Keep in mind that the amp has alot to do with sound quality as well.

Ive had it for about seven or eight months, and so far no problems. I use it just about every day, be it for practice, gigs, or in the studio. Remember that it is plastic, and that it wasn't made to be "stomped" upon, so to speak. I recommend buying a pedal case for any Dano pedals you have to extend their lifspan. I would use and have used it in gigs without a backup. Also, this pedal only costs $20, so its not like it will put a major dent in anyones pocket to repair it or buy another.

I personally havent dealt with Danelectro, but from what I hear, they are very helpful.

I am in an alternative rock band that plays Radiohead/The Pixies/Nirvana-ish music, and this pedal can pretty much cover it. If it were stolen, I would definately buy another. I plan on using this thing for as long as I am able to play my guitar. If properly taken care of, it will last quite some time.

Yep, very easy, two knobs, lots of fun.

I'm running this little one through a Squier bullet strat, which has a very bright sound, and with a Fender Stage 112 SE. We're talking about a hard rock thing, something like glam sounds.

I also have the Pastrami Overdrive and the Fab Tone, which was the reason I had to buy another dist. pedal. I couldn't get a sound from the Fab Tone through my main guitar, it was too damm noisy even at zero settings, my theory is about single coils, which are no good with this pedal. Through my other guitar (a Squire II with a Ivanez V1 humbucker in the bridge), is awesome. Greatest sound ever.

The T-bone was perfect with the bullet strat (It was tested on a gig for the first time), it has a very warm sound cutting highs a little, and adding great mids and bass. Feedbacks are totally rideable. I've heard people complaining about the lack of high tones, maybe the problem is the guitar. My strat is very bright, so I can cancel some highs and make better dynamics with the T-bone. I get this great sound with the level knob at 10 o'clock, and the Dist. knob at 3 o'clock. The full dist. level has a good sound but I try to keep it simple with a lower setting.

Don't go metal with this, I would recommend the Fab tone if your guitar has humbucker pickups, you will have a lot of fun with it, but if you need a mid boost distortion pedal with a flawless sound the T-bone is for you.

My pastrami pedal (wich has the same hardware) has about six months, and I broke the power input, so I have to solder it again, and for some reason the battery conector it's not working. You actually have to love this pedal, if you don't it will break.

It matches perfecly for my style, I think metalheads would hate it because it gets short on gain. This is a pedal for people that likes to have a controlled sound, I won't hurt my ears so fast with this pedal. I also like metal a lot, but that's why I've got my Fab tone and the correct guitar to use it.

I know it won't last long, but if it breaks or else, (and if it is still cheap) I would buy it again.

easy 2 use. level and distortion knobs

i like the sound. my only complaint is it takes away most of your highs. but it makes up for this by giving you a nice warm sound. it doesnt quite reach the "harmonics everywhere" sound, but this (and the missing highs) could be fixed with an e.q. its not any more noisy than any other distortion pedal. it sounds pretty good, i just wish it had a tad more distortion. when you back the distortion level, it immediately starts breaking up to a cleaner sound, which isn't a bad thing, but i wish it didnt start breaking up so much till it was closer to 1/2 way down. it makes a good boost, though-with all the clean gain. in other words, turning up the distortion you have to get almost full before its actually a distortion. but when its full on it does sound good. i'll give it that-its a nice warm sound. it does reach distortion, just not metal-head type stuff. but for rock it seems to fit the spot nicely

i would rate it higher but its plastic. i dont super stomp the minis, so i take care of them. dont abuse it and it should last

i play rock/blues/metal/ska-punk. so this pedal helps in all situations except for extreme metal. i've been playing 14-15 yrs. if it were lost, i'd get another just to have a good "rock" pedal. my only wish is for it to have a tone knob to bring back some highs (but i can do that with a little green!). it helps me make music, cause its a really good basic rock tone, you can turn it on and aim your attention to the music. there is one other thing i'd like to share....but only with the ladies

2 Knobs, Level and Distortion How Hard Can That Be?

Absoulutley revolting, horrible so very horrible, do not go near this pedal with a 10 foot pole. You can only get one sound out of it.

I use it with synthesizers rather than a guitar. This is an unbelievable beast that will make your synths scream like never before. The thing that bothers me a little bit is the feedback that pretty much gets out of control when you turn either one of the knobs past 12 o'clock. But I guess I'm just spoiled by digital effects. I use this in a studio environment and am happy that there is no noise to speak of. Drive your sh-101 through this and you're in acid heaven. Way better than the Virus b's various distortions.

No problems here so far. Bought it used and had it for about 2 weeks.

Apart from the feedback, I find this great. I'll probably still buy an overdrive pedal to go with this, and this does make the sound somewhat thin. (not that it's a bad thing, sometimes you just need a fatter sound and sometimes not)

In 35 years of pedals,amps,guitar buying,selling,and trading,it has the best saturation without being trebly or piercing.The thing that stands out is it's ability to sustain longer than any I've heard besides the Boss DS-1 which is fair to say is in the same category and is probably the most popular Distortion ever sold.The DS-1 sounds a bit more fuzzy as this is rather smooth and warm.I use a Teck 21 comptortion in front of it for the tone knob to give it a hint of treble and boost it with more sustain.I Use it with a strat through a Peavey Ranger.'oh yeah'.......'we're talkin rock n roll'.Don't wait,get yours today,before they are all gone!

If it breaks,throw it away and get another.Seriously though,I might buy another to put a way for 5 or 10 years down the road in case Dano goes away or this breaks,as they are being discontinued.I've seen to many co.'s come and go over the years as most pedals are in vogue one month and out of business or on ebay the next.

Bought this new sight unseen and liked it better than my fuzz face which I sold.It's smooth with a warm tone and would buy it again.It's good for blues,60's and 70's rock.The youngsters probably don't have much patience with it,but it can be tweaked with a good equalizer to sound like your favorite band.

Ok I play in a band so when you need those setting changed in a hurry you can't mess with alot to do it. 2 knobs and a bypass... who could make it any easier.

Ok I love this pedal but I have to admit that it takes some work on your amps EQ to get your highs back once this thing breaks through. Other than the death of your trebles this is one of the best distortion sounds I have ever used... It beats out my Boss and Ibenez pedals.

Ok I just today dropped this thing down a flight of stairs and it still works. Point of advice take my word for it don't try that at home.

Never had to get a hold of them but they have a ou pay to ship we pay to fix policy. So if anything goes wrong you get a new pedal and all you pay is to and from shipping. Not the best but at least it is better than most others.

I play what you could call AlternaRock. It is your hard hitting riffs and your fast paced sound. Kind of link a Black Sabbath meets Creed sound and this pedal is the perfect thing. I have played for about 10 years and I play an ESP custion Viper and a Gibson custom SG and it makes them sound like the PERFECT guitars. I wouldn't recomend using this solo but if you threw in a few other Danelectro pedal with it like I did then you have a $40 or less stage quality pedal.

Have this with a number of other Dano boxes. Pedal Steel Guitar>Surf & Turf>T-Bone>Chicken Salad>PB&J>Fender Hot Rod Deville. Pretty quite pedal and the bypass is very clean. This is really on of the best distortions I've used regardless of price. Sounds great! for steel guitar you need a very warm fuzz and it can easily replicate David Lindley's tone.

Seem well built. Will know more as I have it longer.

I really like this pedal and it has won me over to Dano. I like their other pedals as well. I would definately replace it if it were lost or stolen. I like that it fits in the Dano pedal board nicely with 4 other Dano pedals. It really gave me exactly the tone I was looking for. Great buy!

I have it hooked up through a Fender American Standard P-Bass(not that usual) and i play grunge rock. This pedal has the greastest sound i've ever used. it sounds great trough a bass and even better through a guitar

It's good for gigging if you dont like go crazy and stomp on it, its pretty dependable, ive had it for 2 months and ive had no problems

Just f'n lovely! I play electric violin in a celtic band, and lemme tell you, people would request AC/DC or something and almost mess themselves when I kicked this thing in and started riffin' Thunderstruck on the violin. Great "Smoke on the Water" sounds. Hendrix too! Can cause distortion in your signal when you're not using it but it's plugged in though.

I took it out of my pedalboard because mine had too many quirky problems. The AC adaptor imput was wonky and because I only use adaptors, no batteries, it did me very little good. The input jacks have screwed up a little as well.

Sounded great. Easy to use. Quirky switches. I might get another, though I'll try it out first.

I've been using this pedal with a Fender Fat Strat (bridge humbucker) running into my little Peavey Transtube practice amp. I like the sound of this pedal alot, I bought it looking for a replacement for my DOD Classic Tube. It serves that purpose pretty well, it has just a bit more gain than the DOD did. I can get several different distortion sounds out of this, which is more than I expected for the price. The sound is hard to accurately describe, sort of like a combination of "Sunshine of your Love" Cream sound and Meat Puppets "To High to Die" album sound. Would work great for heavier classic rock, modern "alternative", and some of the more agressive brit-pop. It's a little noisy with the distorion set past the 3 O'clock postition, but no more than would be normal for a pedal with this much gain. The mids and highs sound great with this pedal, but the low end it a little to muddy and tends to mix together, but this makes for some real crunchy compressed chording.

It's made of plastic and rather small, but it seems to be of good quality. I would depend on it, I'm not as rough with my pedals as alot of people are. Wouldn't think twice about gigging without a backup, just don't drop an amp on it or anything. Haven't had any problems with it so far. (a few weeks of heavy use)

I play alot of blues and harder rock. I really like an older vintage sound, and this pedal works for me. You won't get a Stevie Ray sound of it, nor will you get metal sound, but this pedal isn't intended for that. I've been playing roughly 10 years. My main guitar is my hot rodded Fender Strat, I play through a variety of amps, too many to list here... If it was stolen, I certainly buy another. Like I said earlier, I bought this to replace my DOD Classic Tube which got fried, and the two are pretty similar, with the T-Bone being a good bit cheaper, and certainly easier to find... It would be nice if it had some kind of tone or EQ control, but for the money i'm extremely pleased with it.

It is pretty easy to use, due to the fact it only has two knobs(level and distortion). I dont know about the manual, but i dont think they even have manuals as i didnt get one with my Hash Browns.

The only way to get a decent sound out of this thing is to leave the distortion set at 12 o clock or less. This thing sounds like utter crap if you turn down the level and crank the distortion, like i do with my smashbox. I personally dont like the sound of this pedal. I borrowed it from a friend and i cant wait to give it back. The distortion is so bad its unbelievable. I guess you could play some decent Black Sabbath with this. thats about it.

So far i have had no problems with a Danelectro pedal so it should be pretty reliable as long as you don't throw it or wear cleats when you step on it.

I play music this pedal cant. I tried playing all kinds of genres of music with this(grunge, punk, AC/DC) and it doesnt cut it. I hate looking at this pedal and thinking, "what a piece of shit. No wonder its pink." Dont get this unless you play 60's and 70's rock and only that. By the way, dont play this while wearing headphones. You will get a headache that will last for hours.

This pedal is simple and fun to use. It can't get any easier. The T-Bone has 2 knobs(distortion and level(volume)and of course it has an on/off button. It doesn't come with a manual because it isn't rocket science.

It has a good sound and nice tone. It isn't noisy and I don't get too much feedback. I have the distortion cranked all the way and the level in between 8 and 9 o'clock.I actually think in sounds great. I play all rock music. It sounds great with punk and grunge like Green Day,Nirvana,Everclear,Offspring,Eve6,Blink182,Lit,Weezer and a lot more. It also sounds good playing Black Sabbath,Aerosmith and older bands.I am going to have to give it a 10 because I love the sound.

I could definitely depend on this pedal. I'd use this pedal for a gig. I am going to buy the Danelectro Pedal Board. If I was doing a gig I wouldn't need a back up pedal with the pedal board. I wouldn't have to worry about the battery running down because I have ac adaptors. Even if it did fail in a show I have my Pastrami Overdrive for Back Up.

I haven't dealt with the company. But, the first one i bought had a broken screw at the bottom where you open it to put in the battery. The music store replaced it.

I play rock. I think this will do good for a lot of rock music. The price is great also! If it were stolen I would catch the guy and beat him up. If he got away I would go buy another one. The thing I love the most is how easy it is to use and the sound it puts out

using a hohner rockwood rp200 (les paul copy) into a cry baby then into a small practise amp. Brilliant sound for the music i play (oasis, blur - indie stuff like that).

Had it for about a month then the button stopped working. Took it back to the shop and still waiting for a replacement or to hear about what was wrong with it

Suits any indie/britpop player who wants a bit of distortion in their set. A bit weak so care is needed not to stamp on the pedal cos it may break. Been playing for 3 years and it was my first "stomp" box type effect. I owned a zoom gfx-707 b4 and didn't like it cos it wasn't versatile enough.
If it were stolen, I'd definitely get another - very cheap!
Just wish it were metal rather than plastic cos then it may be a bit stronger!

Lucky they dont call this thing a stompbox cause if you stomped on it shatter into about 1000 pieces. They have crappy little plastic coverings and tiny pot metal knobs. Id never use this at a gig coz i hate the sound and id probably break on the first song

EZ-2-use. Level, distortion and a foot switch. Opening the battery compartment is a pain, but not a problem if you use the external battery adapter.

I'm using my Am. Std. Strat into my new Dano mini pedal setup, which utilizes the pedal board w/power supply & cables.

The setup is: STRAT(S) > PASTRAMI OD > T-BONE DISTORTION > HASH BROWN FLANGER > DANO MINI TUNER > HOME BREW JUNK YARD DOG TUBE AMP. (http://home.earthlink.net/~narf1/jyd.htm)

The T-Bone level control is set to 10 o'clock and the distortion is set at 3 o'clock to 5 o'clock. This pedal sounds best using the rear pickup, or rear 2, only. It is fat, squawky and rich in harmonics. Using the front pickups, the sound is very violin like. (Sounds like a triangle wave and low frequencies are predominate.)

This pedal is great for solos! It sounds better than my MIJ Boss DS-1, which it has replaced.

In bypass mode, there is no noise or coloration of the original signal. It is very transparent and does not load down the guitar like my old MIJ Boss DS-1.

Used it last weekend for 3 Praise and Worship services - no backup. It worked great. The plastic case and pedal board worried me. I was concerned that some static electricity could be generated, causing the effects to trigger on & off or make static in my amp. There was no static problem. I used it without a backup.

I emailed them and never heard back. The pedal comes with a warranty card, which is good for 1 year.

I play Praise & Worship music. This is a great pedal for solos. On the Hillsongs tune, "Can't Stop Talkin'" the T-Bone sounded excellent!! The Bone has the Tone. Harmionics were there when I needed them and the Stratocaster's character shines thru. Very riff-y pedal!

I've been playing guitar for 36 years and my current rig is listed above. It is a high gain pedal and has hiss, when engaged. Since this is an imperfect world, all distortion pedal have this noise "feature."

The pedal has LOTS of cool character. The Guitar Player magazine description is true; "It is aggressive and has plenty of low end mass. It boasts ridiculous amounts of gain... fat distortion... yet for all the smooth compression, the tones retain their transient edge."

Sounds great with my hash browns and eq after it. An eq gives you more range of distortions from this neat lil' box. Turn it up to full, you may get a little hum, but it ROCKS. Smells Like Teen Spirit sounds good with this pedal. You can light distortion too.

I'd gig with this, first I'd check how much hum I'd get though. Only got it yesterday.

I play classic/hard rock, good for both. I recomend you use an eq with this, I use the Fish and Chips, it makes it so much better. Good price, good pedal.

It was very easy to use however the small size of the button means You have to be pretty sobre to hit it first time.

Sound quality is good for a pedal so cheap despite the occosional backgound hum its quite clear. The distortion quality is a bit dodgy at the higher end.

Mine has broken, don't no why it was working one minute then it wasn't. Explored all possibilities but to no avail. And no it was not the battery.

Well I like the sound. I have a Boss ME-30 that i used for distortion before i used a Real Tube. It seems to have a slight low noise hum at high volume or distortion settings but thats ok i use feedback sometimes. The setup i use is as follows : Guitar (either 1975 usa strat, Guild S-100 Polara, Guild Bluesbird, Jap Strat with duncans, 72 thinline tele, or Big Apple Strat), to T-bone distortion, tuna melt tremelo, pastrami overdrive, cornbeef reverb, black coffee metal distortion, blt slap echo, ME-30, Crybaby, Peavey 300 TNT (bass amp but killer low end) Black Widow equipped, to a 4x12 celestion cab. Great tone. great for Zakk Wylde, Lynard Skyanrd and softer distortion but i play alot of distortion when i use it. I know you cant tweak the pedal but i have my setting on the amp and thats all i need the pedal sounds great. great low end and great treble. I can squeeze out the pinch harmonics all day and once i add the EMG-81 and 85 to the polara it will be just alittle easier as if it already wasnt easy. The sound is great. Took it out of the box hooked it up and tweaked in 30 seconds. Great Pedal. but give it a 9 because of the low hum that alot of players wouldnt like but with a noise gate it takes it away

For my style which is best discribed as Hard Alcohol Rock its great. i play stuff from Zakk Wylde to Lynard Skynard to Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys. When it comes to distortion this one is great for the solos i use the black coffee or my ME-30 usually becuase i can get a gain boost but i love this pedal. If it was stolen i would buy 2 more. One to use and one as a reserve just incase it got stolen again. I really like these pedals. I think the line is great. I can get the sound i like from these and mix alittle more if needed with my me-30 on the same effect. so i can get a dual chorus or delay at different settings pretty cool sounds. These pedals Rock. I play alot of distortion with hot humbuckers normally and this has some great tone!

I found that the T-bone's distortion could easily keep up with my friends Metal Zone. There was one thing though that did sort of make me mad. The pedal didn't have enough high end and without the bright
switch on my Crate GX80 clean it would definetly suck.

The knobs are a little loose but if you are careful with it, it shouldn't be an issue. It doesn't the batteries too fast either.

I'm playing this for ANYTHING AND EVERYTHING with a hand-made les paul with a crybaby and a (gag)fender frontman amp. Only a little bit of noise.

It works great but it's plastic, i've already broken off one of the knobs, and would not want to hit the thing too hard for fear of it breaking. Would use in a gig without backup.

I play ANY sort of rock,alternative metal etc. If stolen, i'd buy another one, then put it in a metal box!

Two knobs and a button- there's a third knob if you can't figure it out. I had it in perfect position 3 minutes out of the box. No manual, but it's not like I needed one. Even came with a battery. just had to hook the battery up, put the pedal in the loop and do a bit of adjusting and "BAM" kick ass distortion for all!

This thing kicks ass! Right now I'm using it with a Cort Stellar guitar into the T-Bone, the Tunamelt, the Milkshake, and a Rocktek PHR-01 Phaser (which sucks maniacal dick). That all goes into a Crate EL-10G practice amp. I got it because it was inexpensive and I was a fan of the Milkshake and Tunamelt. The distortion on the pedal sounds much better than the distortion on my amp. Great dirty tone. I love this thing! Very quiet, no hum or tone degration. As I said before it kicks ass! Very awesome when you slam your foot down and kick into a ripping solo. Also great for Metallica. The intro to "Enter Sandman" starts out soft, builds, and builds, until BAM: Major distortion!

I definately would depend on it. This thing has already become vital to my sound. I would use without a backup, but hey, at that price I could afford two! I does have a plastic casing though and I do have a habit of stomping too hard. I've only had it for about three hours but I think it'll hold together...

A great product for those of us with bad jobs who can normally only afford the low end products. It can't compare with the $200 pedals, but it's not trying to. It just offers a nice straight foward package for someone without a lot of cash. I play rock and metal and I already love this thing. I got it mainly to use on A perfect Circle 's Judith where I can kick in the distortion for the intro and main riff and turn it off for verses. It does that and more quite well. I've been tinkering for a while now and I've found a couple different cool settings. I bought it because it was cheap and I got more than my money's worth. Sounds awesome if you add just a bit of tremolo or Chorus to enhance the sound. It's a miniture goldmine for me... If it got stolen or broken I'd just buy two more. My only complaint is that there is no latching feeling when you activate the pedal. You have to check the LED to see if it was activated. Bravo to Danelectro for making such an incredible piece of equipment for so cheap! Right now I'm going out to cut some lawns so I can get the Hashbrowns and the Pepperoni.
To sum it up- Small pricetag, large sound!

Really easy to get a good sound. Its a really good pedal for stuff like metallica or bands of that sort. I really think its cool. No manual, none neaded.

I have a Hamer Archtop Custom and i plug it into a digitech whammy reissue-zoom1010-danelectro t-bone-original crybaby-peavy studio pro 112 amp. The only big problem ive had with the tbone is it gives A LOT of low end feedback unless you turn the distortion down to about half. The only really good artists that i found it work great for are metallica and a couple rage against the machine. Its not bad at all for making your own stuff.

Its plastic, and the button is kinda small and a pain to step on with shoes because i always end up pressing the entire pedal or something like that. If it wasnt plastic, id probably buy more of the series, as for gigging without backup, i havent had problems yet, i mean, it is pretty reliable i guess.

Here's another good new Dano pedal. One knob for level and one for distortion, so it's pretty easy to get a good sound out of it. No manual, and none needed.

I bought this pedal to use with my practice amp setup, which is a Vox Pathfinder. I already had good luck with the Pepperoni Phaser, so I decided to try more of this series. In my opinion, they're all good!

It is part of a pedal chain that includes an Ibanez wah, and Dano's Pastrami Overdrive, Hash Browns Flanger, and Corned Beef Reverb too. The T-Bone has a very different sound from the Pastrami Overdrive. I couldn't decide which I liked better so I bought them both!

The T-Bone accentuates the low end more so than the top end, so there's no top-end brittleness or fuzziness. It adds a lot of gain for solos and chording. Very thick sounding - fans of old Metallica or Judas Priest will like it. I would rate it a 10 if it had a tone control to vary the high end a little.

I like the Pastrami better for rhythm playing, and then kick on the T-Bone for leads. It's not a real melt-your-face kind of distortion, it's more of a gain-boosting effect.

In all fairness, I say that the Pastrami Overdrive distorts more than the T-Bone Distortion does!

Well, here again it's a plastic pedal. I haven't had one break yet, but I'm still skeptical. I wish this series was metal. They all sound so good, I wish Dano would have realized what they had going here and put a little more into production costs. If a metal box would have raised the price no more than $10, I would still buy these.

Any time I've e-mailed Danelectro for info, they have always responded promptly and with the exact info I needed. No complaints here.

This is a great distortion that puts tone above noise. Very musical and useful. As I said, it's only for a practice setup, but if it were the only distortion that I could have I would not be unhappy. It really wakes up the Vox amp that I'm using it with, and it sounds great with the other pedals too. I would buy it again if it were stolen.
