possibly the most simple pedal i've ever seen. plus i play barefoot onstage, so i can flip the octave with my toe for the solos. sweet...

Sound Quality : 9
my housemate nearly moved out when i got this - he accused me of selling my soul to the gods of metal, which he hates. he has a point - it's a BEAST of a noise - and yes, it does feedback a bit, but hell, it's a rock'n'roll pedal - and as you'll see below, i LIKE feedback. the reason i got this pedal was i wanted to kinda sound like Jackie White, but didn't really want to spend 160 pounds on a whammy pedal. this does what i wanted it to perfectly.

Reliability : 9
i've gigged with it, and had no problems whatsoever - i guess 'cos i play with my shoes off, i'm not that scared of breaking the plastic
and i only weigh about 135 pounds so i reckon it's safe - as for using it without backup, i play this in line with a zoom gfx707 and a Boss super distortion/feedbacker pedal, so i'm pretty well covered in the crunchy noisy area.

never had to deal with them

Overall Rating : 10
my band plays mainly hard rock versions of '60s girl-group songs (the crystals, ronnettes, etc) with a slight helping of the stooges to round everything off, and this pedal is great for both. our line-up is me on vocals and guitar, my best girl Suzy Q on vocals and Bass, and whichever drummer isn't busy, so the octaver function really makes the sound beefier when i start soloing. if it were stolen ,i'd easily get another one. i just have a thing about danelectro pedals. my first ever pedal was the Daddy-O, and that worked fine as i was in a punk band with another guitarist then, but as i'm out ther on my own now i needed a pedal that would make me sound big, and this is exactly what i needed.

Switch it on, adjust the volume and bass, keep octave on or off, and play. Simplicity be thy name.

Sound Quality : 4
I like the tone this pedal creates. It's powerful, evil, and can make you sound like a metal thrash master with ease. The octave switch makes it less organic sounding but is a delight to hear. If it didn't have an annoying scratch and hum sound, I would have given this 3 extra points.

Reliability : 4
Bought this brand new and have used it for a month. So far, so good. But I only use it for practice. This is not a gigging pedal as far as i'm concerned.

Overall Rating : 4
If you love to solo, especially at fast, finger bleed speeds then this is a great pedal. Hendrix is my favourite artist to replicate with the Black Licorice. If you're a metal maniac, or a serious gigger, buy something else. Although the scratch and hum sound isn't always an annoyance, it can get bad enough to make you sound like an bad amateur, and sometimes it can cut out some of the high notes, especially when using the octave switch. Try before you buy.

pretty easy...two knobs and an octave switch.

Sound Quality : 7
super insta-rad metal tone, at least while you're playing it. stop and it will squeal like a choking pig. the octave down is really fun and sounds great for stoner-rock grooves and the like.

Reliability : 4
i doubt that i can depend on it...it's a dano mini. but the price is right. i will not buy another one if this breaks cuz i'm sure it would break too. the input jack is already a little screwy. it accepts some guitar cables and hates others.

Customer Support : 4
mediocre.

Overall Rating : 9
super fun...don't know if i'd leave it on a pedalboard. you can't ever have too many fuzz boxes, either.

It's got two dials and an octace switch. Come on guys, even a drummer could figure it out.

Sound Quality : 6
Fender Mex Tele --> Danelectro Delay --> Dunlop Cry Baby --> This --> Marshall AVT100
As people have said, the hum when it's on but no signal's going through it. Possibly an earthing problem, possibly not.
Another annoying thing is the fact that the distortion cannot be regulated, only the volume and bass on it. I guess you pay for the ease of use...
One good thing is that, if used correctly with the gain on your amp, it can produce a kind of metal scream through a solidstate amp similar to the Ibanez Tube Screamer through a valve amp.

Reliability : 7
It's plastic not metal. I had a knob break on my Danelectro deal so I guess it's only a matter of time before the same happens to this one but it's surprisingly rugged for a plastic pedal. I wouldn't gig this simply due to the hum which would probably burst peoples' ear drums.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had to deal with them.

Overall Rating : 7
A good little pedal for big distortion for beginners but as far as flexibility, all other pedals fall way short of the Boss MT-2

Two knobs how hard can it be.

I use an ibanez rg 220 with a fender stage lead and this thing is pretty damn good. It can have some feedback but it all depends on your set up.

Reliability : 7
I'm a pretty heavy guitar player and i have kicked the shit out of it ands its still together somehow. being plastic its really good.

Customer Support : No Opinion
never dealt with them

Overall Rating : 8
I play mainly metal music like pantera, metallica(my personal favorite), some punk /rock shit, and anything that has heavy distortion. If it were stolen id hunt down the bastard and kick the shit out of him. And if it broke id buy another one. i love how easy it is to use. i hate the octave thats the only thing that sucks. i wish it was more like the digitech metal master which is a great pedal. For makin ur own music it helps me soo much on the rythyms and thats why im buying a digitech 200 or 300 to figure out leads. Overall this is a great pedal get it even if u have a distortion already.

Reliability : 7
it will break i can see it but it'll be replaced for less then 50 you know i'll give it a 7 it hasn't yet

i play mostly metal its a good pedel for this style but there are probobly better ones out there i was kinda disappointed for the price i paid. ive only been playing for about a year and 1/2 so. if it was lost i would get somethig else. the octave feature sucks it sounds like a robot or something. i wish it had a level knob for the distortion

2 knobs, a switch, and a button, not very hard to use.

Sound Quality : 4
Setup - Ibanez GRX40-Dunlop CryBaby- This peddle- Danelectro Pastrami Overdrive- Crate GFX 212.

This peddle is very, very noisy, might be the pickups but when I use this with gain up to much it feedbacks. It's got to much of a distorion that's got one sound no matter what setting.

No, I don't who sounds like this or who would want to.

Reliability : 4
Didn't break on me, but it's made out of plastic, seen danelectro's smashed on and still work.

This would scare everyone away from my gigs.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never delt with them, but Guitar Center was nice about refunding it.

Overall Rating : 4
I play Zeppelin type of stuff, would use this for it. Been playing for over 1 year, This can't get stolen because I took it back to guitar center, but if it did, I'd find the person who stole it and kick their ass because that's $50 less for me. I tried this with the Boss Metal Zone, bought this because it was cheaper and wanted to try out a heavy distortion, big mistake. I also sold Danelectro Pastrami Overdrive to a friend because Guitar wouldn't refund it because I lost the packaging.

It hasn't got a manual but honestly I'd be offended if it did...

Sound Quality : 9
I used this a while in a band because I didnt have a good guitar amp to rehearse with. I still use it now that I do because I love the sound. But mainly I played it directly into a P/A with a Cort M-500 humbucker equipped guitar (great guitar guys take a look at the m-series). I hear a lot of reviews that don't give sound quality what it deserves. "It's got too much feedback" Jeezes! Control it! Because you can control the feedback... and even so, what do you expect from this budget effect? It's no boss...but you can use it. It's got a real good metal tone when playing and it really shines at those 5th chords, palm mutes, tapping... you got that point from previous reviews I guess.
The octaver is cool but not that great because it breaks up on chords that ring a bit. Still cool voor a heavy-metal version of the James bond theme...
Still, review an apple as an apple and you'll find this little box to sound pretty good :)

Reliability : 8
Yeah, it's plastic, don't make start over with the apple stuff
Take care of your gear and you won't have a problem, you don't smack your guitars around either are you? Watch out if you use batteries.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with the company, the local store gave me a bad reverb and changed it with a new one without questions asked...

Overall Rating : 9
I've been playing for 7 years orso, heavy metal, metallica, creed that kinda stuff. You know you don't want to play jazz or blues with this thing. If you're on batteries, don't leave a cable into the input-jack cuz that will drain your batteries. No question about getting it again, sure thing. It's very good for messing around and warming up backstage before a gig, or just for some fun at home... it's got a cool sound

Very easy to use, pretty self-explanitory. Just plug in and RAWK OUT!

Sound Quality : 8
Used with Guild Starfire II Thinline, Black Licorice, Peavy Triumph 120 Watt Tube head. HOT DAMN this this is loud, adds some noise but not too much, considering the Gain and Distortion it adds. I don't use it all the time, because my amp has a good tube sound and crunch, but for when I that "My guitar turned into a chainsaw and my amp is on fire" kind of sound for certain solos or songs, it does the trick! THRASH all the way.

Also, the Octive Down swith is pretty neat. It makes the sound a little bit more obviously digital, but for when you I am thrashing out this hard, I think it adds to it.

Reliability : 7
Well, it's plastic casing, but I've stepped on it pretty hard and dropped it and it held up.

never delt with them.

Overall Rating : 8
This little thing is great for the price. It adds the extra edge I want when I want it. I might not buy a new one if I lost this one, but it was a good buy and it adds to my set-up.
