I bought one Dano effect (Tuna Melt) it was o.k. so I ordered a BLT slap echo. Sounds cool-like Scotty Moore the Elvis guitar player. However the plastic screw that holds the back cover was broken when I got it. Sent the screw back with a letter and they sent me the broken screw back, no new one? They are hard to get ahold of by mail, always changing their address, no e-mail, don't return calls. I work in a machine shop so I made a metal screw out of a 12-28 thread. Doubt the cheap plastic housing will hold up to it.

I use only for playing harp through. It's fine for it's price and because very small. Doesn't sound nearly as nice as my DOD FX-96 analog delay or my Yamaha Magicstomp. However, I sometimes use it with a mini amp for practicing. Sounds decent for what it is.

This unit is very straightforward and easy to use. Two knobs and an on/off switch is all you really need for this effect. By simply adding it in between guitar and amp like any other pedal and making a few adjustments to suit one's individual taste, one can have a usable "slap back" sound within seconds. The parameters of the controls do not allow for a great deal of variation, but this pedal is designed to serve a very specific and limited purpose anyway.

I tested this pedal with a Strat into a Vox amp, and the results were very satisfying. This pedal lends itself to rigs like mine intended to produce retro tones from the fifties and sixties. If you're a shredder, punk rocker or metal head of any sort, you should stay away from this pedal. It does, however, produce a warm and mild echo reminiscient of an old analog tape delay. The best and most recognizable examples of this sound are found in the old recordings from Sun Studios, such as early Elvis with Scotty Moore on guitar. For a more recent reference, it's similar to Brian Setzer's sound. The pedal is very quiet both when engaged and disengaged; switching is also virtually noise free. Overall, the sound is very warm and not at all harsh or sterile like the Boss DD-6 Digital Delay it replaced in my rig (which also cost me nearly 4 times the price paid for the Dano BLT). Any player who seeks classic electric guitar tones for Surf, Rockabilly, Blues, or Alt-Country should buy this pedal - there are many on the market that can do the same basic thing, but none for this price!

I perform regularly and would have no hesitation whatsoever in playing live through this pedal. Some users have reported "horrible white noise" after a period of use with the BLT Echo, but I suspect this is simply the result of battery failure (since this is common with many types of pedals). I recommend using the pedal with an AC adaptor, since access to the battery compartment is inconvenient compared with most pedals on the market. Also, I wish the chassis were medal instead of plastic. I haven't encountered any problems with this yet, but we'll see how this pedal holds up to having its little brains bashed out by me while gigging.

This is a good pedal even though it is designed to serve only a limited purpose. It does its job well, especially for the price. If you're a player who wants to sound like your favorite old recordings without the expense and reliability risks of using vintage gear, buy this pedal.

The easiest pedal unit I personally own. Two knobs "mix" and "repeat" to adjust the amount of dry/wet signal and to adjust the number of echoes.
You don't need any kind of manual or instructions. Just mess around with it for a few hours and you will discover the settings you like.

I play with Fender Telecaster/Ibanez RG -> EHX Doctor Q -> EHX Double Muff -> EHX Small Stone Phaser -> Behringer OD100 -> Danelectro DJ-3 -> Korg AX1 -> Marshall JCM 800 w/ 2x12 cabinet (100 W).
This unit doesn't make any noise but it makes noise sound louder when it is on, probably beacuse it echoes everything that reaches its input. So try and be careful with the amount of noise that comes from the rest of your FX chain. i.e. an overdriven autowah sound with the DJ-3 on it is annoyingly noisy when you don't play anything.
You can use it with both knobs around 11-12 o'clock as a reverb unit or with both knobs at 9 o'clock to add some sustain. Very useful settings for lead parts and solos. When you turn both knobs at maximum you get a sound perfect for country and bluegrass styles...which are not my thing. It is also useful for creating a richer distorted rhythm guitar sound with mix knob at 11 o'clock and repeat at 9 o'clock.
The only bad thing I found is that when you play clean rhythm guitar using delay it kinda sucks out almost all the harmonics.

Made out of hard plastic it seems to need an extra care when carrying it out for gigs, recordings or rehearsals. But I've done all these and nothing bad happened to it.
I also must say that I bought it (1,5 year) used and it was in perfect condition. The knobs and the footswitch are working alright and the plastic cover is not broken or cracked.

Never had to deal with Danelectro or the dealer that sold the unit to me...but I shall mention that when searching at their website I found almost nothing. No technical specs, no dealer catalog, no big pics...just a small image of the pedal and three lines of useless information.

Well...before I bought it I was thinking "if it wasn't used I would have to pay double the money I paid for it and 60 EUR are too much money for something like that and I would never give it". But when I plugged this very-very small piece of fx into my pedalboard I found out that I could make it useful in many different ways. I love the rich smooth guitar sound and in most songs I play with tons of delay. Using it with my delay unit I can create at least 5 different, very nice effects so I think it's worth the money it costs.
Of course out there you can find many other more expensive Echo units that probably can create more sounds and have a better quality. But when paying 40-60 EUR you know what you can expect...and beleive me you expect less than it can give! If you want my opinion don't go and buy one of those expensive, vintage, short delay units unless you hear this one! I think it is capable to give this extra "echo thing" to your sound and you won't have to pay a fortune.
I own it the last 3 months and I really love right now! I would go buy another one if it was lost or stolen...but I am not such a jerk to lose my gear!

I'm using a late 70's/ early 80's Memphis '72 Tele Custom copy, through the BLT, a Dan-o Tuna Melt tremolo, and a Fab Tone distortion, to a Music Man 65 112 RP. I play a mix of old school country, blues, rockabilly, and garage. This thing is designed to emulate the slapback echo on all those mid-50's Sun records and Cliff Gallup's tone on the Gene Vincent records. It comes DAMN CLOSE. Conjures up images of a hot-rodded '32 Ford deuce coupe with a flathead V8 and a flame job, with a Bettie Page-lookin' chick in black leather in the passenger seat smoking a cigarette, with Gene Vincent at the wheel. However, turn up the mix and the repeat towards max, with the Tuna Melt set on "hard" with the depth all the way up and the speed at 3 O'clock, with the Music Man's built in phase shifter results in some ungodly weird space alien sounds. Not too sure how usable that setting would be live, but it's fun as hell to play around with.

Not had it long enough to tell, and I'm primarily a bedroom player these days. Never had a problem with any Danelectro gear. They ARE plastic, but as long as you don't stomp on them like an idiot they should be fine. What the hell do you people do to break your pedals anyway?

As I said before, I'm a country, rockabilly, blues, surf and garage player, and I got this to give me those mid-50's Sun records sounds. It'll do that and does it VERY well. I've been impressed with all the Dan-o minis so far. Great stuff, especially considering that everything else out there is 4 or 5 times more expensive. If you're a rockabilly cat or a wannabe rockabilly cat and on a budget, take a gamble and get one of these little blue bad boys. I don't think you'll regret it.

Its a cool verb sound with both dials at 12 o clock ,and 3 o clock. Both Maxed gets alittle metalic sounding ,but others may find bthat cool. Not noisy while on or off. I use a 50 watt Marshall combo ,and 15 watt Behringer practice amp, sounds good with the 15 watter, and nice on the low (clean ) channel on the Marshall. With a Dyna Comp, I can get good Rockabilly,Conutry, and Twang, at the 12 o clock setting, smokey lounge lizard Jazz with the 3 o clock stting.with the amps or other OD , it can get lost in the mix , but I like either really clean, or crushing Fuzz.

The most dead simple delay i've ever used, that's for sure. With 2 knobs you'd probably think it was TOO simple, but both offer a pretty good wealth of variation, surprising for such a simple little thing. I ignored the 'manual/packaging,' as it's pretty simple, seriously.

Hard to get a bad sound at all, if not impossible. It's a little shrill if you dial it in MAX and MAX, but surprisingly very nice sound throughout the dials. I got this sucker cause I needed to blow the rest of a gift certificate, and my expectations were nil, but I gotta say I love it. I have a few delay pedals, both cheap and expensive, and this cheapo sounds great. I hate BLAH reverb and only use delay usually. This gives me a dedicated 'verb replacement, and frees up other delays for spacial runs and sample-styling.
Not noisy. Not true-bypass, but retains a sharp signal when bypassed (and like many us, I am indeed picky about this).

A definite score for me, hasn't left the signal chain since day one (about a month ago). I'm always yanking pedals out that aren't being used enough, especially if they're dulling my signal/sound, but this one's still there, and rarely off. Sounds great.
I think more control options are always attractive, but having other more convoluted delays, I love that this is very set-and-forget.
Good pedal. Good sound. GREAT price.
Don't waste your money on 'vintage' short delays without trying this one, because your search could be over.

I use various guitars at the moment. I mostly use a Fender Telecaster with Texas Spacial pickups. I also use an Epiphone Sheraton or a Danelectro 59-DC. The pedal gives off a very slight buzz, at least with my equipment, but nothing that I can't deal with. My amp is a Fender Blues Junior, simple for the type of music I play which is blues and blues rock.
The pedal does what it is supposed to do, give off that 50's effect. Perfect for adding a little texture to my rhythm and can provide a good rockabilly tone. Sounds rather nice with clean chords, just enough echo for me.

I have been playing for 20 years and this was an affordable way to get the tone I wanted for my new band. It is simple and you can tell the difference when it is on or off. Thus far it has done the job and I am happy with it.

If you expect to much from this dinky thing, that's your problem, not the pedal. I probably don't use this pedal for its intended purposes. I mainly keep the presence of this effect low and combine it with some overdrive just to get a unique texture. This makes the guitar sound as if its being played through a giant pop can. Yeah, I don't really want that mid-50's guitar sound you could potentially use this for. By the way, I play an Epi Crestwood ET-290 or an Ibanez Jet King through a Maxon OD808 overdrive. I really like it for recording vocals too, again in combination with distortion. All things considered, I find it quite enjoyable to play with. It can add surprising flavor to some commonplace textures and tones that every guitarist is confronted with.

I write and play jazzyhardcorepoprock music, and this pedal helps me get a distinct sound, a unique flavor I can call my own. I play through a 65 watt Peavey StudioPro 112 (TransTube), which has a reverb effect that for some reason is comparable to the sounds I like to try to get out of this pedal. So, sometimes I just use that instead. Not a lot of the people I play with like it much.

This has sound like no other, I found you can get 3 sounds out of it. The first is mix and repeat all the way up, slap back echo(hence the name) for palm mutting, retro. It has great sound for such a small pedal!

I think this is a grrrreat pedal- part of that's taste, of course, but it's an odd effect that, if you like fifties tunes, sci-fi sounds, The Cramps, etc. you're really gonna want. It's an echo, yeah, which you can find anywhere, but it also has this crazy kind-of metallic lo-fi outer-space quality to it when you increase the repeats. It has a cool voice, basically- it'll do the Sun sound, the surf sound and the American International sound equally well.

Using a Gibson with humbuckers, and an old Peavey Studio Pro or Fender Champ amp. I got an almost "reversed guitar" sound by turning the mix knob all the way up and the repeat to 1 repeat. I also used a chorus to get a doubled sound. The mix knob at 10 made the repeat sound come back louder than the guitar sound , for a faux backwards guitar effect. Sounded good that way with a little overdrive for playing the "Star Spangled Banner" ala Hendrix!

Sounds very much like an amp's spring reverb. My Crate VC110 doesn't have reverb, so this is a welcome addition. Surf tunes are no problem with this pedal. No matter what amp I use, the sound coming out of the pedal's consistent. I'd like to team it with my friend's Fender Twin to see just how springy the reveb can get.
Unfortunately, there's not much delay in the echo. If there was a third knob for delay intervals, it would be more true to the pedal's function.

I play an austin strat through my fender frontman or peavey rage. Strictly low budget guy here... The delay on this pedal is great for fooling around and practicing on your little combo amp but I wouldn't give it much confidence for playing live. This thing will work great in a home studio though. Its perfect for that.
You definately can get that surf rock/50's rockabilly sound outta this thing. Its actually pretty cool and somewhat versatile. Its too bad that the pedal's output is so weak that it doesnt work very well with other pedals. It gets drown out in front of distortion pedals and with bigger amps. You get the best sound by using it by itself on a small combo amp.

Overall this is a nice rockabilly/surf effect to mess around with at home. It does what it is advertised as doing. It gives you that vintage slap echo sound but it won't blow anybody away. Don't use it at a live show, its much too weak. If you wanna spend under 40 bucks for a nice toy to mess around and maybe use for home studio jobs, then get it. But if you expect to change your whole sound with this pedal, you are kidding yourself.

This is yet another review of this pedal by myself. I've sold it since submitting the last one because I've found that it, as well as all the Dano mini pedals, work well except for one thing. They do degrade the tone of your guitar if you use them in front of your amp. If you put them in an effects loop it's OK but between a good guitar and a good amp they definitely degrade your sound. With a cheap setup this doesn't matter and the effect itself may even improve things. With my HRDx it was OK in the effects loop but I now use a Fender Blues Junior which doesn't have one. Putting a pedal without a true bypass in front of the BJ makes the clean tone go from great to average and I've found that the Dano pedals do this more than my Boss pedals.

This is a follow up to my review 7 down (the one from Ireland). I have to appologise to Danelectro for slagging their pedal. It turns out that the pack of batteries I'd bought were ALL weak and were making the hiss. With the pedalboard power unit I now have (or a decent battery) this pedal is wonderful. I can get as much or as little echo as I could wish without any degradation or thinning of the original sound of my guitar and amp. I use this instead of reverb to improve the overall sound and it works a treat. Full marks.

There are two knobs to dial in the "Mix" of the echo and the the "Repeat" of the echo. The "Mix" knob controls how loud the repeated sounds are. the "Repeat" knob controls how many repeats there are after the initial sound is made. then of course, there is the on/off button. very easy to use, maybe too easy. i kind of wish there were a few more options.

i am using an Epiphone Les Paul Standard with a Fender Performer 650 hybrid combo amp. i got this pedal since the reverb on my amp does not work when i have the footswitch plugged in (and i NEED that footswitch plugged in). This pedal does not give as deep a reverb as my amp's but it can give you many different types of ambience and short delay. my favourite setting is to put both knobs pointing at 12 o'clock. this gives me a good lead echo/delay. don't expect too much out of this pedal. it gives you very short delay but then again, that's not what this pedal is. it's an ECHO pedal, not a delay. you can sort of get a "Welcome to the Jungle" intro delay going so that's cool. no real problems here, although i wish, again, that there were more knobs to fiddle around with and get more different sounds.

well, here's the thing. it's made out of plastic and it feels like it's made out of plastic. it's almost a toy. i wouldnt say it's sturdily built since if i shake it, i can hear the battery moving around and the circuitry is RIGHT next to the battery so i'm scared that something's gonna snap in there. i can very easily see myself breaking this thing but i usually take very good care of my gear so it should be ok. my only other gripe is that the "Repeat" knob pot was scratchy right out of the box. but that really doesnt matter too much.

i play lots of guns n roses and i bought this pedal because i needed something to beef up my lead tone just a little bit. this pedal is best used as a small adjustment tool to tweak your sound. dont expect TOO much out of this pedal while it's alone. however, you can get some great sounds when you're playing clean. it helps your clean tone a LOT. it creates great ambience and atmosphere and can be dialled in to get some creepy sounds (if you're playing the right chords). i wouldnt say it was worth the $55 (canadian) that i bought it for but it's a nice little thing that i'll use until i get a real delay pedal.

The BLT only has two knobs, one for mix and one for repeat, so needless to say, its easy to operate. Getting a good sound out of this unit couldn't be any easier. Pretty much just plugging it in gives you a good sound, the knob tweaking simply allows you to more personalize the echo.
Sound Quality
:

At first I had alot of trouble getting the BLT to work properly. There was a very bad low frequency hum present whenever it was plugged in, but eventually I figured out that there was something wrong with the BLT's ability to utilize a 9V adaptor. So now I just use a 9V battery and viola, no more hum. But getting to the actual sound of the BLT, its very much a vintage-type tape echo that sounds VERY good. I don't have a functioning reverb on my amp, so this is my reverb, and believe me, it does reverb and alot more. Lots of artists of the 60s and some more modern sounds can be captured here. In combination with my Snarling Dogs Tweed E Dog pedal, I can get some very convincing Velvet Underground tones. The echo is not a delay, and no one sound mistake it as one. Regular delay is much more crisp and clear, while the tape echo sound of the BLT is more ambient and open. I love the sound of this pedal and I'm only docking a point because there is a bit of added color to your tone once the unit is on. I would rather have it be completely transparent, but not to worry, the added color is nice and doesn't really take away from your sound.
Reliability
:
8
Reliability is questionable for this unit, because of the problems I mentioned above, but other than that I don't see any reason why it would break down. The casing seems durable enough and I've never had a problem with other Danelectro pedals breaking down. I would definitely gig without a backup.

If you don't have a sufficient reverb on your amp or are just looking for a vintage-type tape delay effect, this is it. I've been playing for about eight years now and own a few guitars including a Miller Strat copy and a Cortley LP copy, both of which have been heavily modified from their original condition, and I play into a Fender Princeton Reverb from the early seventies. If this was stolen (not likely) I would probably just buy another since they're so damn cheap. For this price, you're not gonna find anything like it. Just watch out for those faulty 9V adaptor slots.

Its easy to get a good sound, 2 knobs- Mix and Repeat.

Fender Strat, '59 Bassman RI, Boss SD-1.
Not noticeably noisy, especially when compared to some older real analog delays that make horrible metallic hissing noises.
I leave it on all the time.
It definately has that shower-stall echo sound, a bit tunnel-like, but acceptable if you aren't too picky.
I bought it to use with my Fender amp, since it has no reverb. Fills out the sound nicely.
Repeats aren't extremely clear and upfront like a typical digital delay, they're more muddy like the subtle repeats on an analog delay.
It sounds very good, but not pristine.

I spent ages getting a setup I liked that I could get a versatile and usable tone from (U.S.Tele + Fender Hotrod Deluxe Amp) and I don't appreciate having it mucked up with hissing. Call me fussy if you like but I'm not having nigh on #2000 worth of gear sounding like a cheap Squire/tranny combination because of a pedal. Go Scotty Moore! go cat go. I love this thing. I play an old 60's 335 style hollowbody Harmony (with those great DeArmond pickups) and if you like the cramps, pretty things, howlin' wolf, and of course the main man Mr. Scotty Moore you owe it you yourself to buy this thing. I also have used it for harmonica playing and it gives a great sound that really makes the harmonica sound spooky and bluesy. right on. I bought this for around 25 bucks (I think they're around 29.99 or so at most places) and to get this good of a sound for so little cash makes me very happy. I can't imagine that anyone who plays Sun style rockabilly, surf, or 50's era Howlin' wolf style electric blues (back when blues music was so cool) would not totally dig this pedal. The Dan-Echo probably gives you a greater range of sound options but if you want that old school sun sound for a very small investment, here's your pedal.

For an inexpensive pedal it's fine. The control dials are too small to calibrate to the fine degree I am normally used to (as in an old Premier Reverberation tank or, for a smaller comparative example, on a Boss pedal). Too much figeting needed to open and close the pedal to change the battery. (By the way: Nice battery design guys!)

For amplified harp (harmonica) this is a great little unit. I prefer it head and shoulders over by much beloved Boss DM-3 Analog Delay! This is more true, in sound quality, to the old echo/reverb effects of the Fifties. It sounds an awful lot like my '58 Premeir Reverberation tank! Nice, hollow echo. I use the pedal very subtly: Mix is on 11 o'clock and Repeat is on 11 o'clock --12 for more "romance". Amp: 1950s Newcomb M-5 guitar amp with a one 5x7; '59 Fender Bassman reissue.

Great, uncomplicated echo. Neat looks. I would like a quicker, easier way to get to the battery. Better than the more expensive Boss pedals, even the sought-after analogs. I am also going to try the Danelectro Tuna Melt tremolo or the Chicken Salad Vibrato to gain additional signal break up (used VERY subtly) for the old '50s Chicago blues harp sound. I've been playing music for 32 years and this gear really brings back the fun of it all!

Bear in mind that I use this pedal in the Dano mini pedalboard which comes with the AC adaptor. I read a review that it (as well as other Dano pedals) really eats batteries and that the sound becomes distorted as the battery grows weaker.
I have no such problem (since I use the adaptor)and the slap back is clean and bright if a bit hissy (the more pedals, the more hiss). Just the ticket for that Scotty Moore/Duane Eddy/Dick Dale feel.
You can also get a very Steely Dan-esque echo with this pedal (think Bohdisatva).

Got this baby off of Ebay and I'm not disappointed. As I've mentioned on the effect pedal Forum, where were those guys back in the 80's when I was a student with little money? As far as bang for the buck, Danelectro hit the bulls eye when they created their mini pedal series.
I could have had a workable pedalboard that looked cool and sounds good - amazing even considering the price paid. I still kind of wish Danelectro had gone all the way and made the BLT with a bit more delay range, making it closer to the old Boss Analog Delay (a 30 to 300 ms range would have suited me fine), but for that pseudo-rockabilly echo, this pedal really delivers.
The Danelectro minis seem somehow to agree better with my Mexican Fender Stratocaster than they do with my Epiphone Les Paul (except for the French Toast Octave Fuzz), but that's fine as my other effect pedals (Boss, Guyatone, Ibanez, Zoom & Dunlop) seem to agree more with my Les Paul!
Altogether , great value for the money!

It sounds really hokey. It's not a very fluid delay type sound, but more like a really played up echo spacey type one. But that's why it says echo on the package and not delay.
The battery tends to drain quick and you start getting a buzz-tone rather than echo. It almost turns into a distortion pedal.
I use this pedal with a Les Paul or Strat into a Fender Vibrolux tube amp. It gives a distorted guitar sound that rockin' arena sound, but sounds really crummy clean. Like I said sounds to fake.

Peole make an unnecessary issue over the plastic. It's profile with the ribs and thickness plus the metal baseplate make it a non-issue. Drop an amp on your pot-metal Danos or stamped steel Boss pedals and see what happens. It's very small size and egg-shape mean it'll withstand any reasonable abuse. Too new for long-term, but the zero-force switch and good design minimise any concerns. Plus, it's cheap to buy! Everything else is three times the price!

I have a strat and a 335, sounds great through this little pedal. You can get some really nice early Elvis, Sun Records sounds from this thing when you are doing that finger picking Mystery Train or That's all right mama kind of thing. Strumming or playing chords have a nice full sound. Great for playing rhythm/accompaniment. Adds a lot of nice echoy sound to your guitar. Doesnt add much to single note soloing though, actually a bit annoying with the "Repeat" effect, but to add a nice Scotty Moore touch when playing rhythm its the best. Tonewise it does take a little bit from your guitar .. tend to keep your guitar a little bit trebly but not too bad. I really love this effect pedal, it is very unique and have such a nice sound. Maybe not for everyone but if you are after that early Elvis , rockabilly sound its pretty good. I give it a 9 because it does seem to take away a bit of the tone of the guitar but it is a 10 for the cool effect it produces.

Very easy to get vintage slap back echo like Scotty Moore(Elvis' guitar player), Duane Eddy and Brian Setzer's Stray Cat tone. You can also get a killer spaghetti western type "Good, Bad and the Ugly" type of thing. Very cool. Just twiddle with the two knobs and you can get some kind of classy rootsy sound from this thing.

Use a tele, a strat, a Dano U2, and a DeArmond Starfire special. I have two Fender Blues Jr's. The fender guitars all have Van Zandt pickups. The amps have new old stock tubes and Weber speakers. I'm in a blues/rockabilly/surf band. This thing works great. It's quiet and for 30 bucks you might as go try one out. If you looking for a rockabilly slap back this has great tone for that. I've used an old DOD analog delay, a Roland Space Echo and recently a Boss RV-3 and none of them except the expensive Space Echo have as warm of a tone as this little pedal. It was a very pleasant find for 30 bucks.

This is a great sounding echo pedal. That forty dollars would buy something with this many sounds in it is unbelievable. No noise, at least none I could readily detect. I use a Ritchfield bass or a Lotus strat-copy through this into a Fender Champion 110. It is useful for making sounds of some vintage surf, most rockabilly, or to add a little depth to a song. At both knobs maxed out, it is too much for all but the very silliest versions of cover songs you could come up with. (try playing "Bawitdaba" on it at these settings, to prove it;)

I dont know if this is very common, but after about twenty days of use, it quit. I was playing, and it simply shut off. I discovered that the bypass was broken, as it wouldn't turn on after many attempts. Now it is either on when it gets plugged in, or off, and it won't change. If it had survived, I would say that it is a reliable pedal and that, if you don't try to kill it, it will stand a decent length of time without too many problems. Pray for the bypass, though.

I play surf music. I have been playing surf, off and on, for the last year, more dedicated to it in the last two months. If it got stolen, I'd buy either this or the Dan-Echo, if I had that much. Then again, I might buy this, a tremolo, and an overdrive for the same price. Their isn't enough of the BLT to choose something to hate (except the switch) or like. I compared it to all of the mini pedals, and bought both a chorus and this one. I chose it because it makes the sound a little bit more like an old live record if you play that sort of stuff. When I make music, nothing helps or hinders, it just makes it sound sick (like distortion) or mortally ill (like chorus, phaser, echo, distortion, wah, and crap guitars on heavy acid).

WONDERFUL! Great for short, chunky delay, and slap. Will knock all you rockabilly cat's socks off! If you want cool Sun Studio echo, this is Scotty Moore baby!
Dial up the knobs at 3 o'clock and a little past 12 o'clock, and you'll get some spacey jazz sounds not too far from Les Paul (the guitarist, not the guitar) or Chet Atkins!
Great if you can't get a Roland Space Echo for those Brian Setzer chops. Hint: Try out "Runaway Boys" intro on this little sucker!

Sounds best with a good Gretsch type sound. If no Gretsch, try a Les Paul or LP copy, DeArmond hollow or solid body, Gibson, etc.
I wouldn't recommend it for strats or teles (though it can get some teriffic chicken pickin' action!), not enough low end "umph".
Dirt cheap and reliable! Everybody on the block is gonna want one of these, and that's the only thing that scares me.

Fender Strat (Texas Special Pickups) through a Fender Deluxe 112. Neat rockabilly slapback on lower settings (also a pretty cool reverb effect), awesome multiple repeats if repeat knob is turned up. An earlier reviewer said that it couldn't do space echoes. I would say that it can't play a note INFINITELY, but it still plays pretty damn spacey echoes. And besides, too many echoe repeats and the sound starts getting muddy and crappy. So this pedal is just fine for Syd Barrett kinda stuff (or if you wanna play space rock like Radiohead or something). Spacey or rockabilly slick, it rocks.

In six years, I've played classic rock, blues, country, jazz, and now modern-rock (think Radiohead-esque spacey stuff). If it were stolen or lost, I'd buy another one, sure. Maybe the Dan-Echo if I had a few more bucks, but I don't, so this is just fine. You can make some pretty ear-catching sounds through the pedal. It'd be great for leads or solos: Play a rhythm, maybe some people in the audience aren't paying complete attention, get to the solo, step on the pedal, and suddenly it takes your sound to a whole other world (especially on higher settings). Then your whole audience goes, "Whoa! Spacey!"

Good sound for short, quick delays. Works best to just add a little reverb type sound (not classic spring reverb - room sounding reverb). Funky pedal. Took it back to get the DanEcho - wanted a longer delay time - wanted an analog sound option for just "fattening" tone. Also wanted David Gilmour space echo. This pedal will not do that. But it is just as it says - "slap echo." Good for that. Quiet. Adds some color - but it has good, musical character to it. Save your pennies and buy the DanEcho - can do this sound and much more.

I would probably get another BLT pedal, and may get some of the other MINI Danelectro pedals. I was considering getting another small amp with reverb, but I decided to try the BLT and keep using my current setup. The BLT pedal is very quiet, makes good echo/reverb, and does not seem to adversely affect the guitar's tone.
I feel it is a very good value for the money.

I'm using it with a Telecaster, Stratocaster, and an Ibanez 335 copy, into either a Sovtek Mig-50 head and Peavey 410E cabinet, or a Peavey Classic 50 head into the same cab. I've also recorded with it with the Tele going into a Morley JD-10 amp simulator, then into the B.L.T. and from there straight into the board. Great sound for subtle slapback delays in every application. I've tried/owned more expensive units that, after much tweaking, may sound somewhat better, but for instant gratification the B.L.T. is unbeatable, not to mention dirt cheap too.

For blues, rockabilly, country, or any kind of roots music where a touch of slapback delay is desired, and you don't want to spend too much time tweaking this is the ticket. I have other delays so if something happened to it I wouldn't rush right out to buy it again. If I needed one and my budget was limited, this would be the one I'd get. I can't say how it hold up over the long haul, but I think if you kept it off of the floor and not use it like a stompbox, it should hold up well. Battery life seems good compared to other stombox delays. So far so good.

I use this pedal mostly with a Gibson Nighthawk and my Tone Lizard amp (see my review of my amp if you're interested in the brand). My amp has no reverb, so I thought I'd get the Corned Beef pedal, but I liked the BLT better. It reminds me of my friends ooooold Ibanez anolog delay and that is the sound I realized I wanted anyway. With the repeat down and the mix up, the slapback sound is cool - sure it's not an echoplex but you can buy a BLT with the change in your couch. Besides the coolest tube amps impart a strong character on your sound anyway so through a raging amp and then possibly a PA is anyone going to notice? With both knobs around 2:00 the sound is a cool reverb-ish sound - not springs, tubes and cloth wires, but a cool sound that stands on it's own. I'm impressed with the quality of the effect for so little $.

Well, the ever present remark about the pedals being plastic should be the first thing I (like everyone else) mention. It would have been nice if they sold 'em for like $5.00 more in a metal case but I guess they had their price target. I'd gig without a backup, because I don't NEED this pedal. If it was more necessary (say if I was depending on it for the slapback sound) I'd probably get a backup, or buy a better pedal but then again, it's not like echoplexes are notoriously reliable. Under normal use though, looks like it could last quite a while.

Danelectro seems to be really good about getting back to emails, BUT - once I got a big list of people's email AND house addresses emailed to me and lots of their other email subscribers by accident. Perhaps it's best not to request a catalogue in the mail from them. Also, the warranty is only good in the US which blows because I live in Toronto - on the other hand, a few other pedal companies also give the warranty shaft to us Canadian customers.

For the last 11 years I've played I always had reverb on my amps, so I suppose i missed the little bit of filler for clean sounds when I got my new amp (Which sounds infinitely better than my shitty Fender Blues Deville 4-10 that was stolen from my car after a gig. Right now some low life has a free amp and really shitty tone) For the $ you can't beat these pedals, cost aside the sound is still great and only the plastic case leaves room for improvement. I'd buy it again if it was lost or stolen, but probably not if it broke - that might shatter my sense of security with it. All in all, go buy one. Or all of them - could probably get them all for like $450.00 and then all your pedals would match. Cool line from a cool company.

This thing is pretty sweet. I own a Fender Am. Strat into Bluesbreaker 2, into Fender Pro Jr. It really is pretty transparent and quiet. I use this to give the amp some reverb. But I turned it up once for an echo effect and it was pretty amazing! It does exactly like what it says, sounds like your in a shower playing loud. They hit the nail on the head. And for 30 bucks this is even better. It is also good to use for subtle reverb (not to much). I know a lot about effects, and the new Mini Danelectros are actually pretty good pedals for the money.

I'm using a cheap setup for now... I'm a poor college student, so I can't afford a thousand dollar rig. I just go with what the Lord gives me. I'm playing with a Godin Radiator into the cool cat chorus into the BLT, then into a crate 2x10 loaded with celestions.
I really like the sound of the BLT. It doesn't do a lot of different things, but it sounds great for what it does. And the price? How can you afford not to get one of these cute little things? If you're running straight into the board like me (worship setting), you need a little something to wet up the sound. We're not using any reverb through the mains at the church for one reason or another, so this helps fill out my guitar sound a little.
It's also a quiet pedal. Not much noise at all, if any.

I play some different stuff--mostly worship music. I like straight forward rock music. Loud, raw, nasty... I like those words. This pedal has the right characteristics to be a helpful unit in the music that I play.

Let's be honest, it's a low fi unit. I am reviewing this based on price.. if it was a 1000 dollar rackmount delay i'd expect a heckuva lot more out of it, but for 50 bucks canadian, it's a great little slap echo unit. as i said before it's pretty transparent, and it's not really all that noisy (which is what i was expecting) so i am pleasantly suprised. IT can sound nice and subtle (which is why i bought it... i have a marshall 30th anniversary combo with no verb) or it can sound funky andfreaky. It's cool... if you leave the mix down, you can crank up the repeat and get a nice effect, as you turn up the mix, i usually turn down the repeat a bit. gives a nice straight slap. but when you got both maxed you get a sort of extra weird surf sound.
I don't listen to many people who use echo, but it sounds cool.

Essentially i was looking for this or the reverb unit to go with my marshall 30th anniversary.. i don't like cleans ounds without ANY effect. I Need a bit of reverb or delay... i chose this one over the verb as i found it more adjustable for the effects i like, the BLT can get the same subtle sounds as the Corned beef reverb, but i like it (the BLT) better withthe effect higher, withthe reverb iw as onlyhappy when it was turned down more (but i am a spring reverb guy)
Overall I am very happy with it, as i said i am reviewing it based on price, If i wanted some super effects i'd get an eventide harmonizer, but for adding a little slapback, there's no way i'd even have paid 150 (canadian) for a boss delay pedal. I see these being the primo christmas/ brithday presents this year. a lot of parents get adraid at pedals at christmas, for example a beginner guitar can be got for 200 canadian, a beginner amp for 100, but when your kid wants a Boss delay/reverb to go with it (200 BUCKS!) it seems a little excessive, these let beginner players (and those of us who just want to mess around) try a few effects and set up little chains, without breaking the bank. you can get a delay, trem and a distortion pedal for the pice of a Boss Pedal!
NOt to say it sounds bad, it sounds great, and i think these things are a steal! Just hope my local store can keep them in stock!

If someone stole this, I wouldn't go out and beat them, I'd just buy another because it is such a great value at $30.
