Very simple. One knob that changes the speed of modulation. A wet/dry option or a general amount of effect option would have been very nice but I don't mind.

I'm using this for my bass, it's great. No noticeable tone change. It does what it should and I wouldn't change it. Like I said wet/dry like on the fab models would have been nice but I'd say I'm happy with this.

Fantastic. I can't imagine what I'd do without Danelectro. For 30 bucks I don't think I'd find anything better. I could probably get one made specifically for bass that costs 10 times the price and not be this happy. If it got lost I'd get another, no reason not to.

Its been said here that there is an adjustable trim pot in this unit.
Well, at least in mine, there isn't. I took mine apart last night and no trim pot. There are 2 PCB boards and I check both sides of each and nada. Here are a couple of photos (sorry not that clear it was late) - http://whiskeyzulu.com/hc/pep.htm.
My pedal simply says Peperoni Phaser w/ Speed under the single knob and above the LED - and Danelectro above the on/off.
As far as its sound, I think it does an adequate job, however, I really have nothing to compare it to. This is my first Phaser it was $20 - I picked it up cause my band plays Have a Cigar and it was an inexpensive and turns out to be a decent sounding peadal for my needs - I like it best b/t 10-11.

I use a Sg Special/Ibanez RG321MH(fixed bridge) => artec bigdot tuner -> Boss OC-2 -> crybaby -> dod FX-25b filter envelope -> dan phaser goes here -> marshall edward (the) compressor -> boss ds-2 -> digitech digi delay => Mashall MG100DFX
i generally have it either set to about 10 oclock which has quite a nice steady phase sound although not that pronounced, still sound good with a mixture of effects though. or at full tilt which i love for some fast almost bizare tremolo phase!
i don't generally try to sound like other guitarist which this pedla help me do when at full tilt. Also with it at 10 oclock the compressor boosting the lows abit and some sly distortion on the ds-2 makes such a crunchy tone i don't need a neck pickup it feels like some days.
sure its not gonna be an mxr phase 90 but for ??20 when I got it I cannot argue at all!

I use this pedal with a single cut Les-Paul style guitar with humbucking pickups, and along with multiple other pedals, it runs into either a SS Princeton 65 or an old Traynor YBA2B tube amp.
For what I use phaser for, this pedal is perfect. I hate cheesy thick,70s phased sounds that kill dynamics and sensitivity. This thing is much more subtle, akin to a Phase 45 or a Tonefactor Nebula. It definitely gives you a swirly, watery sound, but in a subtle, sweet way without being either weak or overbearing. I have considered upgrading, until I realize that this thing gives me the subtle, swimming tones I already want.
This is probably not the best typical phaser for everyone, but it sure works well for me.

For me, this pedal is almost exactly what I need in a phaser, and serves my purpose quite well. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a more subtle phase effect without spending a ton for a Nebula or Phase 100 or vintage Phase 45.
Good stuff.

Weird mix of reviews for this thing. As with most dano pedals they have one sound. and if you like that sound - great, otherwise...
Anyway - ease of use. as everyone says - just one dial - slow to fast. play with it for a bit and see what suits you (if anything).
I have read furthur down that someone took it apart and found a trim pot inside for extra variation. maybe something to consider one day....

OK. this is the tricky bit.
first up:
no true bypass - but i cant hear any problems when it is switched off...
when on. i really like this. i have it set about 11 o'clock and it gives the nice swirly phase sound you would hope for. i only actually use it on 2 songs at the mo. one combined with an octave below (another dano mini) to give a really funky synth bass sound (with some almost auto-wah style stuff at the high end) and another time on its own with some arpegio chords for a bit of a trippy momment. so i certainly dont over-use it. it also gets occasional usage if things start going that way during a gig...!
as an 'accent' type effect it's one of my favorites... but not something you would not want to over do.
i use a fair few effects and swap them around a fair bit - but so far this has remained on my board since i started playing with my current band a couple of years back. we play mainly punky bluesy type stuff - but with anything we fancy thrown in.
also - i use one big power supply for all my pedals on the board and this causes no noise/buzz from this unit. maybe its some cheep supplys that are causing the problems for some people below.

you've seen then - they are small plasic things.
however, i have had 5 mini dano's and non let me down. 2 of them have been in constant use for 2 years and the other 3 have had some fair use.
i have gigged a couple of times a month and practiced a couple of times a week with this set-up without a single issue (infact the only pedals to have let me down are a boss EQ where the power input has broken and a marshall guv'nor where the switch died (though that was after 15 years or so of abuse))
so - has to be a 10

it does what it does well.
im sure its not for everone and certainly not for every occasion, but they are good fun little pedals and can certainly add something to your own style.
for the type of music we play (think 'the clash', 'the ramones', 'small faces', 'stones') i probably use too many effects but i try to do it sparingly and not get carried away with them. and, though i am a long way from great, i get many possitive comments on my sound from many other musicians (some of them who know what they are talking about!!). i have been playing & gigging about 15 years or so and have had a fair bit of equipment over the years. currently i play a strat or an SG into a yamaha 212 amp with about 10 different pedals.
i would certainly consider getting another if anything happened to it. only really got it becouse it was cheep second hand in one of those dano mini sets. i got the 'summer of love' set with the octave down (which i still use) and a fuz/octave thing i never really got to grips with and is currently being 'rested' from the set-up.

OK my setup is a Fender Strat or a upgraded Epi SG with 57 humbuckers into a Behringer GMX212 amp sounding either fendr clean ampeg clean Roland JC clean or distorted Marshall.
THis pedal is supposed to sound like a Phase 90 but it isn't a great approximation. However the sound is Preferable to the modern Boss PS3 which my friend has. the sound is classic based and will get you a good sound for whatever you would use a phase90 for but just different.
I use it for univibe sounds on Machine Gun. when placed after all the distortion pedals in a chain but it gives a spacious ambient vibe that is very cool but subtle. Great for those gigs where you want to take the crowd somewhere otherworldly.
there isn't much noise with this unit compared to my boss pedals but when at the end of the chain it can make the hiss swirl around, Great for recording intro's to epics.
I love this pedal because it retains my guitar's character better than most of the phasers i've tried. that is where this pedal is realy better than some in my opinion. 30 bucks for all that?? I'm Happy

this matches my psychodelic blues sound well. it has a very univibesque sound .
I compared this with the phase 90 and boss PS3. I chose this because it fit my sound better than they did. If lost or stolen i would not hesitate to shell out another 30 bucks for another one. Great product and a great deal. I know this is not a "Great Phaser" in the sense that it nails the sound it is going for but it is the best phaser for my purposes that i have found. Period.

i'm wondering why there are so many ratings above 7 ????? maybe those people never heard a real phasing sound ????? i must admit this little thing gives a "reasonable" result at low phasing rates but it is far away from the sweet phasing of a small stone or a mxr. it's is pretty noisy when chained behind a ts or any distortion/overdrive. it colors the sound when bypassed(no true bypass). sth i could live with though. but not with the overall sound. settings above 3 o'clock are simply useless to me. weird. (i bet there are some guys out there who love esp. this setting - i do not)

I have to say, even though I don't use phaser effects on a regular basis, this little unit was impressive. Great sound, even though it doesn't look like much. Not any noise that I could hear, and nice even "amplitutde" sound to it. Probably not as sophisticated as the original 70's units (like this one is supposedly imitating), but it does a bang up job....no question.

This unit came in a 4-pack that I bought. I kept the Chorus module (Milkshake), the BLT (SlapEcho) and then sold the others, including this one.
I played this with my Gretsch 3150 and it sounded fantastic. I have no way of comparing it since I did not keep it (never was used by me anyway). Would probably be a good idea to check it out in your music store and listen to others before buying it.
If you plan on needing and inexpensive unit, for guitar or otherwise, you can't go wrong for the price. Would suit small gigs or home playing just fine.

I have to say first that I have nothing to base this on other than the shabby phaser on my Zoom 505 (which is currently gathering dust!). It does effect your tone more than it perhaps should and it DOES have noticable gain. I use phase with distortion for solos like Smashing Pumpkins and Radiohead, so I find the additional gain welcome. I really like the sound this makes, and it's by no means subtle. I think the best way to describe the sound is it replicates the sound of the fret-tapping bits off 'Spirit of Radio' by Rush really well.

It's a harsh effect and certainly doesn't sound good without distortion. When playing clean, it adds a little distortion of it's own when using my Les Paul, so I can't get that clean 'spinning-speaker' Incubus sound out of it. For psychedelic sounds on top of your distortion, I think it does a good job.

This isn't the best phaser available, but the money, I think it's fine. Past 12 o'clock, the speed becomes far too fast, it sounds like its trying to catch up with itself. I use it around 3 - 10 o'clock, it's almost like a chorus at slow speeds, it adds great character to arpeggios and chords.

The sound is very bad. This is a wannabe MXR phase 90. The speed isn't built correctly on the Danelectro Pepperoni Phaser. The slow phase is ok but when you get to faster settings the transition is not smooth and gives you a fast speed at the middle clockwise position. This pedal adds unwanted gain if you are playing clean. I got this pedal because I wanted to get that phase sound as heard in some of Creed's songs without spending a lot. If you strum lightly you may not hear it but if you strum normally it gives you a gain sound. I no longer have this pedal but I used to use it after a boss distortion and boss oc-2 octave.

I play r&b, blues, and rock. Like I said I only bought this pedal because of its low price. I just wanted a phaser that I could use to get a phaser sound like in some of Creed's songs. But I guess in this case, cheap price means cheap quality. So....if you want a good natural sounding phaser, get an MXR phaser. If you want a good phaser that does more than just speed get a Boss Phaser.

Great for humbuckers, Teles & lipstick pickups. I don't like any of the Strat sounds with it. Neck or in-between neck & bridge is where it's at for me!
No good for combining with other effects - especially overdrives. Humbuckers are the only way to 'drive' your signal for cutting through in solos.
Anyone like Leo Nocentelli from the Meters? You can get some similar sounds ('Fire on the Bayou', 'All I Do Everyday', etc) with the knob at between 10 -12 o'clock. Humbucker plus pedal is all you need here!
At full-tilt you can get close to the Hendrix/live bezerk Johnny Winter/ Robin Trower rotary sounds.
I like it for all sorts of valve amps: from a tiny Epiphone with 1 10, a MusicMan 4 10 to a Fender Quad Reverb.

I took this little pedal and built it into a very crappy Morley Wha that I've had for years. This Morley doesn't use the light/photoresistor design, but uses fishing line that moves two sliding pots inside.
I had enough room to fit the guts into it. The speed pot was a 500k pot, but I used two 100k pots in series for 200k. I had to change the switch in the Morley from a push on/push off to a momentary.
The whole thing was a success! Now I have a phaser with the speed on the pedal. Back off for slow, and as I push the pedal forward, it speeds up. One cheap "rotovibe".
So I give high marks for my modded pedal.

I will use this with guitar and bass. I've had a lot of phasers over the years and have built phase shifters. I can't say how many stages this thing is, but I suspect it's 4 stages. For a 4 stage phaser, I love it!
Usually with a phase shifter you have to turn up the depth at low speeds and turn down the depth at high speeds. This one does slow or fast well without a depth control. Hiss level is low. (Much lower than my nearly-unusable-because-of-the-hiss Rocky Road leslie simulator.
This thing speaks 70's to me big time. From Trower to Waylon, this will cover my needs for a phaser.

I play all styles of music and I like this thing for the dated flavor it gives. I own too much gear to mention and I build and mod effects, amps and guitars. I couldn't build the basic circuit for what this little gem cost.
My favorite all time phaser was the big Maestro with the 3 big switches (where the slow and fast speeds mimicked the leslie speeds including the ramping.) This reminds me a bit of that sound. I like it better than my Akai Intellephase (until I add a couple more stages to it) and like it better than my DOD, or any of the phasing effects in my multi-effects pedals.

**IMPORTANT INFO**
*Please read my review for some important info on this unit's sound*

Okay, here's the long part. I've had this little guy for almost a year now. I spent a lot of time debating purchasing it after reading the highly variable reviews here on H/C. To be honest, I've never really liked the sound of the pedal. It was too over the top in a Parliment (think "Flashlight") kind of way. I never understood why some people said it was very lush and MXR-like...
I was about to see the unit and try my luck elsewhere, but a funny thing happened this morning. My wife is out of town, so I didn't sleep well. That and being bored usually ends up with somethign being taken apart. Today I decided to see if I could find a way to take the dano apart and maybe change a resistor out to lessen the phase effect. I found two things out...
1.) these mini-pedals are HARD to take apart and rather "cheap" in construction
2.) There's an internal trimpot buried up in the main circuit board!!!
so up to the amp with a screwdriver and several pieces of phases oedal it was... The result? The trimpot seems to vaer the phase of the unit. to the left mellows it out for the "lush" sound, to the right gets to the over the top 70s sound. There is limited range before the sound cuts out though...
So the long and short of this section is that I absoultely love the sound of this guy now (and it's in-line). Please email me if you have further questions about this (themrbwa1@yahoo.com)

well, I'm definately not a tone freak or even that great of a guitar player.... I play in my spare time, mostly blues... (or maybe just noise that pisses off the wife and even the cat...)
One thing I am is a wannabe engineer; I've spent more time modding and rewiring guitars and effects athan learning to play them:
-done the TS808 mod on a TS-10 "plastic hunk-O-junk" tubescreamer
-tweaked with the dano
-Owned just about every amp modeler you can think of
-rewired a telecaster copy to 5-way:(neck, bridge, both in series, both in parallel) plus added a phase switch.
*btw the both in parallel + out of phases sounds just about like the guitar sound from "Play that Funky Music White Boy" (should I be proud or ashamed?)
-Replaced pups in several axes including an Ibanez GAX75 pseudo 70s SG conversion
Anyway, I have a lot of effects, and the more I learn, the more sparingly I use them. Now that I tweaked this pedal, I Love it and I'm thinking of taking apart my dano flanger for the fun of it.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about my ramblings... I can probably dig up the tele 5-way mod for anyone interested,; it's around here somewhere

I mean if you want to go heh heh "i have effects i'm the man" then yeah use it it's OBVIOUS when you have it on but otherwise avoid avoid avoid... like the plague when you have the speed right up you can get some fun use out of it, but nothing serious i'm afraid. If you're a beginner you may like it but i wouldn't waste your money, you'll soon want something better, save about 20 more pounds or dollars and buy a multi effect-the zoom 505 for example has a better phase than this bit of junk, An absolute waste of a pedal board space.

I play mostly metallica stuff (song sections that don't require a distortion), some old country, some folk, but I mostly just noodle around on the instrument. I have been playing now for about 3 years this december.
What other gear do I own? Besides the stuff I already mentioned? A Springfield Accoustic guitar (EWD 10N), an an old Carvin Les Paul (I think that's what it is, no name on the headstock).
If it were lost or stolen, I might go looking for one again. But if I do, I'm heading to ebay.
I like that you can turn it on (set on low) and start playing stuff like "The Call of the Ktulu" with the FX64 and it adds a really interesting sound. I hate that it's made of cheap plastic.
I wish it came with a power supply.

reminds me of a cheap EH small stone but worth the money if you have a love/hate affair with phasing. i like it but on higher gain amps and guitars with vintage type speakers it can max out on the low end, creating a bizarre grind with distortion applied. i think it sounds lush and clear with a sligh application of overdrive, distortion kind of makes it out of control. i use an sg and british style tube amps.

Been playing 22+ years. I play metal, progressive rock & attempt playing jazz. Basic setup is a Mesa/Boogie 50 Caliber combo with a vintage Boogie 4x12, V-Twin preamp, Vox wah.
The Pepperoni is comparable to the MXR Phase 90. Still prefer the Boss PH1 or PH2, which sounds richer.
No more digital rackmount gear for me. Back to basics with all analog.

The knob is very sensitive (small changes go a long way) and you can make both subtle and dramatic phasing sounds with this unit, but it is very noisy. For live situations this is irrelevant but it adds a lot of buzz/hum during recording. With the depth knob set to the lowest possible level, this actually makes a great chorus pedal.

Overall, as someone who needs only a limited amount of phasing (for the occasional solo or whatnot) this is a great value. If my entire sound depended on phasing I'd get a unit with more features, better tone, and less signal noise, but for someone who just wants a phaser lying around in case you feel like using it, then this is an absolute bargain.

When the unit is turned on with phasing effect turned zero it fattens your guitar sound in good way. The phasing sound is mild and doesn't fuck up your sound but it isn't completely transparant either, it is just good. the unit is on par with the famous mxr phase 90 but the soundspectrum is a little smaller. When you turn the knob completely clockwise there is also a nice leslie rotation speaker effect.

Ok, I am not on the champagne budget that can afford classics like the MXR scripts or Ross phasers. I have played these, and they ARE excellent!! But, simply, I cannot afford them at the present. The Pepperoni is a GREAT approximation for 30 bucks list! This is a great deal. I doesn't have the low end of the mentioned classics, but still phases nicely for the price. A must for my funk and rock styles and 70's leanings. I play Rio Grande Teles, and Reverend amps. it surprised me. first i plugged it in after distortion and it sounded like a deep spacey thing, way too intense for anything- other than maybe 1 solo (something out there). i didnt find it noisy, but if you have a noisy setup- expect to hear your noisy setup do circles. sounds good to me on any setting. after i learned to plug it in BEFORE distortion, it really shined. it does that "watery-wah" sound with your lead. and i like it clean for rythm. slower, it does the slo-mo spinning cycle (great for clean strummed or arpp. stuff) ....faster settings do a pretty good "vibe". my favorite vibe setting is to max it(which is too fast), then back off and slow it down a little. it surprised me when i accidentally found that spot-now i use it for anything "vibe". i run from a les paul with good pickups>pepperoni phaser>distortion>echo/delay>amp. that setting really does a decent vibe for stuff like little wing and machine gun. sounds convincing enough....no, its not a leslie-but half the magic is in your hands....spanky knows what i'm talkin' bout

Strat thru pair of fender 75's and 4-12 Hiwatt.
I needed the sound of that Gm6 chord in 'Shine On'. I got for a few dollars. But then it really surprised me when it went univibesque on some hendrix tunes ! Quite interesting. However, people who called it 'silent' surely play with very low volumes and wattage. With a cranked tube amp, the thing is noisy as hell. You actually have to wait till the drummer starts or someting before stomping on it ! But let's be fair : it's a vibey little thing.

Yes, it does help you make music, it's not a gimmick. The guy who designed it was into good tone. I love the vibe, and hate the noise, but it does the job. When I do get the 400 $, I'll buy a Univibe, though.

Back when it worked, the sounds were OK. Used it with a Dan'O U3 (which is tasty if you can still get one) and a boring Ibanez 50W amp. Turning the speed all the way down gave you a kind of floating tone change cycle that I really liked. Middle of the dial was typical phase, a little muddy if you fed it too much. Speed didn't go high enough to really get interesting.

I'm using this pedal with a dirt cheap fake les paul, that squeals like hell when gain is up, a danelectro black liqorice pedal (which i also recommend), a zoom 606 pedal (also very good slow on fx change but brings out the distortion and phaser beautifully on some settings) and a 15 watt Marshall valvestate practice amp (I'm saving up for better amp any recommendations welcome) so if it sounds good through that it'll sound good through anything. Its a simple phaser that gives a good but unadjustable phaser sound, its quiet (on a clean sound), and the speeds variable.

Right if you're like me, a simpleton with no money, this is a really good buy. If all your looking for is a simple phaser sound for a couple of songs in your set list this is definately for you. It gives a good sound and its cheap. I bought the hash browns flanger first absolutely hated it. i exchaged it for this one, not expected anything much better, but i was surprised that it really is quite a good pedal. Works well when used after a distortion pedal but sounds good clean. If you use a phaser loads and u want a really variable a specific sound however you'd probably be better off with a boss phaser. If someone stole this pedal i would buy a new amp first (coz i really need one) and save up for another one coz it is pretty good.

One knob: speed. No manual...no need. I give this a 9, because I like to have more control over what comes out of the pedal; I like to be able to control depth too.
Sound Quality
:

Just becuase it doesn't have a depth control, I can't really dock any points because it's really a great sounding pedal. It adds no noticable noise to your sound, even while off.
It can go from a nice slow phase shift to a wobbly chorus type sound, though I would never use it for chorus.
I use a Mexican Fender Stratocaster and a Peavey KB60 Keyboard Amp and a Vox Pathfinder. I haven't experimented a whole lot with various effects with this pedal. Since I bought another more versatile phaser just after getting this, I put it aside and then sold it. If you're not too picky about being able to control your phaser's depth and you just want a simple phase, it's great.
I think I might have recorded a demo with it too, but I'm not sure if I used the Dano or the Akai. Nevertheless, it does work well with vocals in case you're looking for that trippy 60's/70's psychedelic sound.

I play everything from blues, to psychedelic rock, alternative, modern, etc. I use a phaser when I'm looking for something more like a psychedelic sound.
If it were stolen...well, I don't really need to worry about that since I sold it on eBay recently. It's a nice pedal, but there's nicer phasers out there.
Shortly after buying the Pepperoni, I found a great deal on the Akai Intelliphase, so I bought it. The Akai has not only a speed control, but also depth, feedback, and "touch sensitivity" controls. Since it's more versatile and I can control the sound more, I decided to get rid of the Dano.
Ummm...I guess that's about all. Oh...don't eat it: it'll break your teeth.

The Pepperoni works well with clean sounds or overdriven sounds. Clean sounds remind me of the classic 70s era sounds (ex."Blue Bayou" from Linda Ronstadt). Overdriven tones are fun too (ex.more late 70s tones like: Blondie's "Heart Of Glass" sounds cool with this pedal).
The pedal has a hint of distortion as it regenerates.

for under fifty dollars this pedal is just amazing! i'm usually a bit of a gear snob, but i cannot deny that this phaser has some serious 'vibe' to it. Don't get me wrong, I'm no Dano lover or anything (I think 90% of their effects and all their guitars are just garbage), but it's undeniable that their modulation effects are actually really good (and really cheap), this little beauty is no exception. It can easily get real subtle, swirly phase (the type I like best) and it doesn't color the sound as much as many other phasers. My only real complaint is that it seems to go abruptly from subtle phase to super intense vibrato at about four or five o' clock in the knobs travel, a more gradual transition between the two would have been better.

I play a weird mix of musical styles including blues, funk, shred, psychedelic and whatever else I happen to be listening at the time. This pedal is great for blues and blues-rock, it fits in very well with my playing, if it were stolen(not lost, I don't lose gear!) I would buy another, they sure are cheap enough! I wish it had a better casing, but I'll live with the plastic and step lightly.

I think this pedal sounds fantastic for what I need. I use it for reggae and funk mostly and it sounds just perfect through my '71 Twin Reverb. Also sounds great with overdrive or over the top distortion. I can almost get a Univibe sound with a good distortion in front of it.

Not the sturdiest pedal ever made for sure, but for the price of these things, you could own 3 or 4 for the price of a Phase 90 reissue. Mine hasn't given me any trouble, but I am very careful not to stomp it too death.

I would agree with some of the other reviewers that said it doesn't have a very deep phase sound like a Small Stone, but that's exactly why I like it. Works great for the funk, rock, reggae that I play. I love that it doesn't color the sound too much and let's the notes come through. Why did they quit making these? Probably figured it was too good a pedal for the price and the cheesy little case. I hope they make another version in a stronger case.

i'm happy with the sound, but there are some bad things. i use it wiht my marshall mg100rcd. if you plug it direct it sounds good with distortion but adds a little buzz to the clean. if you plug it in the effects loop it sounds better for clean, but it adds a very noticeable buzz ON the distortion( if the speed is all the way down, you'll notice it very well ). but i only use it with one setting, tunr it al the way up, in the fx loop, clean guitar- it's a fast phase sometimes sounds gay in songs but i don't mind it the way i use it. i'll only use it in like one song of mine, don't know what yet.

It works fine for me: my signal chain is Gibson LP Studio or the Hawk to wah to Guyatone VT2 tremolo to this to Marshall Jackhammer to Laney LC 15 or George Dennis Mighty Mouse. I use just two positions of the knob - about 1 o'clock and full-on. The first setting is for that sticky 70's rock ballad type sound, and the latter is a 99% approximation to the sound that Mike McCready has in the second track (sorry, forgot the title) on the Mad Season's Above album. Below 12 o'clock, the effect is too subtle for me to care. I haven't noticed any noise that would bother me (and besides, the guitars on the Above are noisy so what). It's OK

The pedal was just what I was looking for - when I crank it, I get that wacky warble which is a sort of one-trick pony but nice if used twice in a set. The price is friendly and the price/performance ratio seems fair to me. Plus, the store I bought it at (Alexim in Prague, Czech Republic) has a special offer - when it's your birthday, they discount 10% off the price for the product you buy, which applied to me. My only gripe is that they ran out of the Milkshake Chorus and our country being so far from the US, I will have to wait for a new batch to arrive.

My effects chain is: guitar->Danlectro 7-band EQ->Danlectro Phaser->Digitech XP/100 Whammy/Wah->Ibenez Digital Delay->amp
This pedal is very quirky, I can emulate some Pink Floyd-esque sounds, so long as the phaser is _after_ the EQ and before the delay. If I put the phaser anywhere else in the chain the effect is almost completely lost. The unit seems noisy too.. when I switch it on, I get soft white noise through my amp.

Simple one-button job. Couldn't make it easier.
The sound nails the sound of Live's "I alone" guitarintro pretty close. Batterycover IS the metal baseplate so no ten points for this category.
I can't remember if there was a manual.. Not much use. For it would have to be a be pretty stupid oneliner-one like "rotate knob to change setting"

Turn the knob, goes slower phasing to litle faster, to real fast, which is cheap. Sounds good on clean guitar, best with tinny distortion a la old DOD distortions (metal maniac, thrash master) , most distortions will basically cancel it out and you can't hear it.

it has a good sound to it. the louder you play the better it seems to sound but it sound good at low volumes...not super low. it distorts the signal if you dont want that dont buy it. i got this pedal to play 70's ska, mainly songs like the ones from the clash's london calling. its not noisey and it doesn't degrade tone. it sounds good with distortion. i use it with a ibanez rg470 and a powerhouse strat into a few effects through a mesa/boogie rocket 44 amp.

"LOOOOVE HUUUUURRRTS!" Seriously, that was the first thing I played through it. Dead-on sound. Also does great Pink Floyd-esque ("Have a Cigar," "Shine on You Crazy Diamond") sounds. Nice subtle sound with knobs all the way down. Crazy-ass "Gonna-make-you-puke" warbles with knobs all the way up. And somewhere in there is pure bliss.
By the way, I play a Fender Mexi-Strat (with Texas Special Pickups) through a Fender Deluxe 112. I also put this through a Danelectro Pastrami Overdrive, and it sounded just golden. Really spacey stuff (which is what I play, really).

It's great. Sure, the housing is plastic, but unless you're a big thrash dude that takes the term "stomp-box" literally, no troubles. And besides, if you're a big thrash dude, you probably wouldn't buy a phaser pedal anyway. If you're cool with it and you're not JUMPING up and down on it, it'll be fine. I'd take it on a gig without backup (not too much need).

In six years of playing, I've played everything from classic rock to blues to jazz to country to spacey, Radiohead-esque modern rock (which is what I currently play). It's great if you wanna get spacey without breaking the bank. If it were lost or stolen, I'd totally replace it in a heartbeat. I like how you can get so many great swirly effects, and even if you use the totally maxi-phase setting, it still gives an otherwordly effect. If you put it through some distortion, you'll rock the cheetah's ass.

Cool sound. Unique phase. Different from Small stone - but not as good. As others have said, it doesn't have the depth of the small stone. It does go very, very, snail-like, slow if you want it to. Not earth shattering. Brought it back after a week and a half. It's quiet, and it phase shifts. Does what it's supposed to, but not as much character as small stone; it's much more suttle. Less dough though. If that's what you want, get that!
