It can't be easier! It has two knobs. One is "Speed" and the other one "Depth". I think it's quite easy to found the perfect level of chorus that you want cause it is extremely easy to use.

Sound Quality : 8
I'm using the MilkShake with an Epiphone Les Paul Studio and with a small amp Wenstone A/GE-25. I bought it today and I test it a lot in my house, and it works perfectly. The effect is really great, the chorus that it give it is very cool.

It has no noise...I've read other reviews that critics that, but my MilkShake has NOT at all a kind of noise, even I put the Speed and Depht to maximum.

Reliability : 9
Of course I'll depend in this little thing!. I really like the effect tha it has, and I'm going to use it for live performance in pubs and small places. I have no doubt that this Milkshake is not going to leave me alone in a gig... ;) It will be always on by guitar case.

I have a band that we play all 60s, 70s and 80's music and it really sounds great!!!

The plastic that it had been made is really strong, i don't think that is going to break.

Its got two knobs and a switch - what more can you say!

Sound Quality : 8
I use either a) fender strat with SD classic stack pickups or b) fender Espirit (a Jap fender Les Paul type thingy that was going cheap a few years back) with an old Session Rocket 30. I plug the pedal in via the fx loop.

Within minutes I had the ultimate Nirvana sound - a few seconds later I manages to get a modern Surf guitar sound. The milk shake doesnt have a massive range but what it does have is cool.

Tends to click and whirl when the battery is low.

Reliability : 6
The battery it comes with went over night. I take the battery out after using it and im a bit worried the battery cable will bust as its quite flimsy. Appart from that its not bad

Never dealt with Dano, so dont know.

Overall Rating : 8
I would never take it back to the shop - its versatile and fun and can handle anything I want to do with it (which admittedly aint much).

Dont think its a serious player's pedal, however.

easy as pie! two knobs, so easy to figure out. foolproof. if you can't figure it out, then God help you. No manual, but why you'd need it, who knows ????

Sound Quality : 10
Plugged into the patch loop of a Peavey KB/A 60 amp, using Ovation acoustic, Rumor Bass, and Silvertone Rockit 21 (super low cost, high quality SG copy) guitars. Very slight whirley background noise, but that could just be my pickups or cables. Wonderfully rich, luscious effect. Studio quality! I like slow speed with depth dialed about half way. Sounds mellow and rich even with very trebley sounds going in. Sweet!

Reliability : 9
I've been pretty easy on it, and no problems so far. To save a cable, I like using a rechargable battery for it, which holds up fine for a 4+ hour gig. Not clear how it would stand up to abuse. My pedal will probably outlive most amp-crankin' hard-livin' all-for-show hard-on-gear guitar bangers, but those who actually play music and don't just jump around the stage will have no trouble.

Customer Support : 6
poorly managed company. very inconsistent support on other Danelectro items. But this has been reliable.

Overall Rating : 10
excellent sound, I love it. Wish it had more adjustability, and maybe combined with other analog effects, but for $20, who's complainin'?? Mellows out backgound chordlines beautifully.

It's like most other pedals on this planet, push the button, and it turns on. Knobs can move easily if you don't have one of those cool Dano clear protector thingies. The placement of the input and output jacks in proximity to the ac jack, sucks royally. Some of my patch cables that are right angles, don't even fit into it next to each other because they are too wide.

Sound Quality : 10
This pedal is absolutely amazing. I was at a music flea market in the area, and after hearing about it, I gave it a quick try, and walked out 20 dollars poorer, and one Milkshake happier. It's quality is as good as my Digitech MultiChorus ($80), and this one costed me $20 used. It's not as thick as the Digitech, and doesn't have any fancy options, but it is the milkiest chorus I've played, ever.

Reliability : 9
I've never had a problem with one of these, as it is my second Danelectro Mini Pedal, but from what I hear, they tend to be problematic, so I take a point for its lightweight, seemingly not-reliable appearance.

Customer Support : 9
Never dealt with the company in any way, but their website is really really behind, so i take a point for that reason alone.

Overall Rating : 10
It's the best value chorus pedal on the market. On ebay they go between 25 and 35 dollars, and let me tell you, it's a steal. Do yourself a favor, and get a Milkshake Chorus before it's too late.

two knobs...how hard can this be?

Sound Quality : 8
I am almost positive there is an analog chip in this pedal. It is so warm and inviting...it really thickens up your sound and adds depth. I liked the initial sound better than my Boss CE-5, it was VERY warm, but when I cranked the knobs around, it didn't have as much versatility as the CE-5. It won't do vibrato or flanging. It's a simple chorus that thickens up your sound, and my sole purpose of this review is to let everyone know how warm this sounds. I love analog, and I just might end up getting one because it's so inviting and good on the tone.

Reliability : No Opinion
I don't own it personally, but I've tried them out in music stores and such. Sam Goody's doesn't have alot of selection, but they're one of the only music stores in town, so unfortunately I'm stuck trying out budget level gear. I own one Danelectro pedal (corned beef reverb), and it hasn't failed me yet. I'd expect the same reliability from the milkshake chorus.

Overall Rating : 8
I love the sound this pedal puts out. It's very warm, inviting, and thick. It's not as versatile as some chorus pedals are, but it gets the job done. My Boss CE-5 is apparently analog too; it's a very nice pedal...the chorus can go from murmuring detuned chorus (think "come as you are") to sparkly 80s chorus. Unfortunately my CE-5 doesn't have the warmth that this baby provides. Like I said, I may just buy one because of the warm, inviting, milky tone this pedal puts out.

If you're looking for a nice, simple chorus that doesn't contain any extra bells and whistles, the Danelectro Milkshake is a great (and non-expensive) alternative. I can't stress this enough. GREAT sound.

easy to use, only two knobs to worry about, though they work slightly counterintuitive from a usual chorus.

Sound Quality : 6
interesting sound quality, i use the controls against each other, if one is cranked the other is not, etc. can get a detune doubling chorus affect with the rate low and depth high, vice versa more of a flanging/chill sound when reversed. not exceptional quality but interesting, does not appear to suck tone or vary the output signal.

Reliability : No Opinion
always use a power pack and make the batt. your backup.

i use boutique heads and custom cabs with vintage type speakers, usually sg-type guitars with high output humbuckers. i was able to get the cranberries 'no need to argue album' chorus and a little 'sweet' by smashing pumpkins. i'm not a big chorus fan, but it's cheap and fun to mess with. overall pretty mediocre.

Two knobs, no prob. Try a few different settings and you'll find a sound you like.

Sound Quality : 8
Setup: Fat Strat into small stone phaser>French Toast Octave>Milkshake> Quadraverb+ (digitalEcho)> Fender Deluxe 90 x2

I recently chucked a MIDI MP1 rig I had been playing since 89. Wanted to go back to an analog sounding rig.

Reliability : 6
Hasn't given me any problems so far but it is a cheap plastic thing...I think part of the fun of these Danelectro mini pedals is driving the thing til it blows up - 20 bucks WTF

If I need a backup I can always pull digital harsh chorus out of the QV.

Blues, country, "classic rock, man" I've played a lot of other chorus pedals and this is not the be all and end all, however it does a really good job for the price. If I was buying a specific analog sounding chorus I would go for the H20 Visual Sound, it is a better long term investment and light years more sturdy. The Milkshake is a fun little pedal that will give you some good tones and I'll eventually dump it. Enjoy, don't read too much into it.

Ease of Use : 7
It's fairly easy to use, as there's only two settings I really like.

Sound Quality : 7
It has a good sound when left in the sweet spots I've found. I use Teles and Les Pauls straight into a Boss TU-2 Stage Tuner, into a Tubesceamer, a Marshall Drivemaster, the Milkshake, and then into my amp. It adds noise when using it with distortion, so I don't. There also an obvious "pop" when turned on.

Reliability : 4
It's all plastic so I don't ever gig with it. It appears very fragile with crappy knobs and jacks.

Overall, I would recommend this pedal to someone who weighs under a hundred pounds, is just experimenting with chorus, and doesn't have much money. If you don't fit this, buy something tougher and higher quality sound.

Ease of Use : 10
With its only two contol buttons, the use of the Milkshake pedal is a piece of cake...really instinctive. Consequently, no need to have a manual to make fun of it !

Sound Quality : 10
Plugged in my Marshall JCM TSL 602, the pedal does not alter the rich sound's colour of my amp while giving a great chorus effect. The latter is not complex, only a basic one but very sufficient for someone who has a quite limited use of it. I adore my Danelectro which gives me exactly the classic tone of a chorus. No need to turn many buttons (as the DOD "Ice" pedal) to reach the sound you look for. On "Nothing Else Matters", it sounds exactly like the orginal with the following setting: speed button at 13.00 and depth button at 11.00 .

Reliability : No Opinion
As my pedal is brand new, I can't give a relevant opinion on this issue. Nevertheless, taking into consideration its plastic construction, I fear that the robustness is not its strength. So, probably too fragile to use on gig !

Customer Support : No Opinion
No opportunity to test it...

Overall Rating : 10
What can I add except that I strongly recommend the Danelectro DJ-7.
As I play rock (Guns and Roses, Metallica, Oasis, Rolling Stones, Radiohead ... )and pop music (Blur, Beatles, and other various artists), the DJ-7 totally fits into the kind of sound I like and fulfills my expectations. Especially in view of its price. Generally considered, the quality instruments (Gibson LP Std, Fender Strat US, Taylor accoustic guitar, Marshall lamp amp, various BOSS pedals, ...) I use broadly reflect the high expectations I have towards my gear. Of course, I would appreciate a metallic construction as the BOSS, DOD, Digitech, Marshall pedals... To conclude, let's go buying it !!!

Two knobs not very hard to fingerout.

Sound Quality : 5
Not exactly the best chorus I've ever heard. Not exactly evan one of the better choruses I've heard, but at $25 not bad at all.It doesn't have that real smooth sound of a good chorus, tends to have a little artificial wavy sound like your slightly out of tune almost.I only bought it cause I had joined a band(which I didn't stay with anyway)that had chorus on two of there songs.I didn't wan't to spend allot on a chorus as I don't care to use them in the first place(manly play strat into Vox wah into 50watt Marshall stack),so it seemed to sound good enough for two cover songs.

Reliability : 4
Its plastic, the knobs are plastic, its a delicate piece of machine.I had to fix one of the knobs on it a few days after I got it.

Customer Support : No Opinion

Overall Rating : 7
Overall its not a durable pedal. Its not the greatest sounding but if your like me and don't like spending allot on a pedal your only gonna use on two songs in your life it sounds decent, evan to gig with.I however wouldn't recomend it for anytype of recording or any guitar player that uses a chorus as a main sound enhancement.
