For one, it does not feedback, even with distortion on. Unlike the el cheapo fab chorus pedals they make this one works on overdriven/distorted settings and sounds as well. on clean it sounds very lush, chorusy sound when you turn the depth knob up to 12 and leave the speed down on 0, and on distorted it gives you the 80's metal sound, which I was hoping to nail down. Folks, this what a true good chorus pedal is suppose to sound like. also when you turn the speed up, it gives you a spacey warbly sound.

I just had for a day without any problems thus far. I would gig on it without backup, and if it broke down or give out, i would replace it with another one or go for a Cool Cat pedal. my only complaint is that I wish it was made of metal instead of hard plastic, which is why I am giving it a 9

I play traditional metal, hard rock blues, and classical music styles and it suits my styles well. compared to higher end pedals by Ibanez and boss, this blows both of them away, and only EH's(Electroharmonix) nano clone comes close to it in sound. I am glad I did not get the nano clone pedal have break down on me or another Ibanez chorus/flanger pedal that does not give out a true chorus sound. A fantastic value indeed.

I originally got this pedal while I was in a Nirvana-craze...most obviously I was trying the get the lush tone from Come As You Are, and I got this pedal to sound pretty close to it. Even as my tastes have shifted over the years, this pedal still fills a useful niche. I like the sounds it can create, and even with only two knobs the varying parameters of the effect are adequate. There's a really bizzare spacy sound you can get with both knobs turned up all the way (though I've had not much use for this sound yet). But I find the sweet spot of this pedal is really the middle ranges of the depth and rate knobs, at least for my tastes.

It seems pretty flimsy at times. I've yet to drop it, so I don't know how it would hold up on the road. I've heard these pedals are tougher than they look. The plastic chassis is rather hard and thick, so it could be true. I'm a little concerned about the battery cable as it also appears flimsy whenever I open the back to change it out. And SPEAKING of the battery, this is one point of the pedal that I've been disappointed with...it tends to suck it dry too quickly! A lot of times I like to leave the pedal plugged in when I step away for a bit. Even though the switch is not activated it is still draining the battery. This should not be the case! It should have been built to only use the battery when the switch is on, not when it is simply plugged in. I know there is a port for an AC adaptor, but I'm already using one for my processor, so I'd rather not have to add another in.

I play heavy/hard classic rock, and as far as I'm concerned this pedal fits the part nicely. Were I ever to replace it, I might upgrade to a larger chorus pedal that doesn't appear so flimsy in design (at times I'm just afraid I'll break it!). But as long as I have it, I will use it. I like its sound quality very much. I'm not that picky with effects, but as I am fascinated with chorus and modulation effects in particular I do spend considerable time finding a good chorus tone, and I can say truthfully that this pedal gives me all the flavor I'm looking for. Plus, the name "Milkshake" just conjures up so many sweet, creamy images. It describes the effect perfectly.

ok, as a chorus effect.. this thing is mediocore, but it is a unique sounding effect. I am not really into a chorus sound, but when I tried this in a pawn shop, I had to buy it. It can get some really creepy sounding chords out of my ukulele with both knobs maxed without it taking over the sound of the instrument like most choruses do. With depth at 3 o'clock and the speed at about 9:30, this thing adds a sort of "full metallic tone" to your instrument. I also tried it on bass and would not recommend it.

I paid 25 bucks for this thing and I am more than satisfied. I have owned many danelectro mini pedals, and this is the best I've used yet. I play mostly funk, rock, and 27th Century porno-grind and this works well for it! I've only tried it on a ukulele and bass(no guitar) and I love how subtle it is. It doesn't try to run the show like many other choruses do. I am very satisfied with this purchase. But if you are looking for a good chorus effect, I would reccommend the small clone.

Well for a $20 pedal I guess its pretty good. But I was never able to get the chorus right on it just was allways a hair off the mark.It sounded lush and full but was allways off the mark timing wise or something.I can't really put my finger on it its been awhile.Would be good as a first chorus pedal just to see if you like chorus.Or would be good if your on a very low budget and needed a chorus or if its a once a night effect and its importance is utmost. But its just not a professional effect.

I am not sure of the best use for chorus effects, but the setting that I use does produce a beautiful, angelic type sound that works well for blues or classical styles (speed and depth at 12oclock). I find that other settings sound really tinny, and sometimes barely audible. I use a Crate GX-15w amp and a Cort Zenon Z2 guitar. Not the most expensive setup, so I'm not sure if better quality equipment will bring better results. But comparitively my other Danelectro pedals are much more versatile.

The day after i purchased it, the pedal started emitting a high pitched squeal. I played it alone and with some of my other pedals (which were new) and it wouldn't stop. I returned it for exchange and was told it may have been a bad batch. I was given a replacement that was apparently from a different batch and so far it is ok (1 week later). My main use for it is practice. If I were to use it for a gig, i would be a little uneasy about pressing on that button.

I love the sound I get from it's current setting. It was cheap, and one of my first pedals, so I'm not over critical of it. The Milkshake is definitely great for people who are new to chorus effects. If there were any other settings I could use I would be happier with it, but the setting I have now is suitable for most of the music I put together. I wish it had a manual describing what type of music, or style of play, would benefit from the different combinations of speed and depth. Overall I think this is worthy for first time purchasers of a chorus pedal. Those who are familiar with the nuances of chorus may want to purchase something else.

This chorus has one sound, a generic kind of rich, lush sound. But as time passes it will drive you mad! Its noisy, it boosts, it distorts and kills frequency response. I have a rule about buying a chorus. It's got to have 3 knobs or more. After awhile I could only run it in one spot, the sweet spot. But don't let that fool you. As in alot of cheap effects you can obtain the best sound that that unit is capable of, call it the sweet spot, and it's still sub par. I guess its alright for some beginner on a tight budget. For the same price or cheaper you can get an Arion chorus thats got 3 knobs.

I have played this with my Ibanez AEF18NT (Acoustic/Electric) and my Gretsch 3150.
For a little unit, this has a great chorus effect...especially on the A/E guitar. No distortion, but when battery is dying...the sound goes to crap (as is the case with all of these similar units). I love tweaking the dials to get what I want; especially when I have the Gretsch and put my Johnson amp into overdrive.
Quality of sound is a little on the dry side, but great none the less. Might be better to run it in line with more effects for better results. Can't be beat for $30 bucks, though.

Serious players or studio musicians will probably want a more versatile unit -- suggest looking at other brands before buying this. If you are playing small gigs or at home, this one is all you need!

Plugged into the patch loop of a Peavey KB/A 60 amp, using Ovation acoustic, Rumor Bass, and Silvertone Rockit 21 (super low cost, high quality SG copy) guitars. Very slight whirley background noise, but that could just be my pickups or cables. Wonderfully rich, luscious effect. Studio quality! I like slow speed with depth dialed about half way. Sounds mellow and rich even with very trebley sounds going in. Sweet!

I've been pretty easy on it, and no problems so far. To save a cable, I like using a rechargable battery for it, which holds up fine for a 4+ hour gig. Not clear how it would stand up to abuse. My pedal will probably outlive most amp-crankin' hard-livin' all-for-show hard-on-gear guitar bangers, but those who actually play music and don't just jump around the stage will have no trouble.

It's like most other pedals on this planet, push the button, and it turns on. Knobs can move easily if you don't have one of those cool Dano clear protector thingies. The placement of the input and output jacks in proximity to the ac jack, sucks royally. Some of my patch cables that are right angles, don't even fit into it next to each other because they are too wide.

This pedal is absolutely amazing. I was at a music flea market in the area, and after hearing about it, I gave it a quick try, and walked out 20 dollars poorer, and one Milkshake happier. It's quality is as good as my Digitech MultiChorus ($80), and this one costed me $20 used. It's not as thick as the Digitech, and doesn't have any fancy options, but it is the milkiest chorus I've played, ever.

I am almost positive there is an analog chip in this pedal. It is so warm and inviting...it really thickens up your sound and adds depth. I liked the initial sound better than my Boss CE-5, it was VERY warm, but when I cranked the knobs around, it didn't have as much versatility as the CE-5. It won't do vibrato or flanging. It's a simple chorus that thickens up your sound, and my sole purpose of this review is to let everyone know how warm this sounds. I love analog, and I just might end up getting one because it's so inviting and good on the tone.

I don't own it personally, but I've tried them out in music stores and such. Sam Goody's doesn't have alot of selection, but they're one of the only music stores in town, so unfortunately I'm stuck trying out budget level gear. I own one Danelectro pedal (corned beef reverb), and it hasn't failed me yet. I'd expect the same reliability from the milkshake chorus.

I love the sound this pedal puts out. It's very warm, inviting, and thick. It's not as versatile as some chorus pedals are, but it gets the job done. My Boss CE-5 is apparently analog too; it's a very nice pedal...the chorus can go from murmuring detuned chorus (think "come as you are") to sparkly 80s chorus. Unfortunately my CE-5 doesn't have the warmth that this baby provides. Like I said, I may just buy one because of the warm, inviting, milky tone this pedal puts out.
If you're looking for a nice, simple chorus that doesn't contain any extra bells and whistles, the Danelectro Milkshake is a great (and non-expensive) alternative. I can't stress this enough. GREAT sound.

Blues, country, "classic rock, man" I've played a lot of other chorus pedals and this is not the be all and end all, however it does a really good job for the price. If I was buying a specific analog sounding chorus I would go for the H20 Visual Sound, it is a better long term investment and light years more sturdy. The Milkshake is a fun little pedal that will give you some good tones and I'll eventually dump it. Enjoy, don't read too much into it.

Plugged in my Marshall JCM TSL 602, the pedal does not alter the rich sound's colour of my amp while giving a great chorus effect. The latter is not complex, only a basic one but very sufficient for someone who has a quite limited use of it. I adore my Danelectro which gives me exactly the classic tone of a chorus. No need to turn many buttons (as the DOD "Ice" pedal) to reach the sound you look for. On "Nothing Else Matters", it sounds exactly like the orginal with the following setting: speed button at 13.00 and depth button at 11.00 .

As my pedal is brand new, I can't give a relevant opinion on this issue. Nevertheless, taking into consideration its plastic construction, I fear that the robustness is not its strength. So, probably too fragile to use on gig !

As I play rock (Guns and Roses, Metallica, Oasis, Rolling Stones, Radiohead ... )and pop music (Blur, Beatles, and other various artists), the DJ-7 totally fits into the kind of sound I like and fulfills my expectations. Especially in view of its price. Generally considered, the quality instruments (Gibson LP Std, Fender Strat US, Taylor accoustic guitar, Marshall lamp amp, various BOSS pedals, ...) I use broadly reflect the high expectations I have towards my gear. Of course, I would appreciate a metallic construction as the BOSS, DOD, Digitech, Marshall pedals... To conclude, let's go buying it !!!

Not exactly the best chorus I've ever heard. Not exactly evan one of the better choruses I've heard, but at $25 not bad at all.It doesn't have that real smooth sound of a good chorus, tends to have a little artificial wavy sound like your slightly out of tune almost.I only bought it cause I had joined a band(which I didn't stay with anyway)that had chorus on two of there songs.I didn't wan't to spend allot on a chorus as I don't care to use them in the first place(manly play strat into Vox wah into 50watt Marshall stack),so it seemed to sound good enough for two cover songs.

Overall its not a durable pedal. Its not the greatest sounding but if your like me and don't like spending allot on a pedal your only gonna use on two songs in your life it sounds decent, evan to gig with.I however wouldn't recomend it for anytype of recording or any guitar player that uses a chorus as a main sound enhancement.

Very easy to use, and sounds like a "vintage" chorus. Cool, very easy to find different sounds, from small chorus to space trip sounds. I use it with my bass guitar.

I use it not veyr often, with my Washburn active bass guitar. It doesnt sound soooo good on low notes, but thats normal when using effects with bass guitar. Not noisy, no cracks or pops when I turn the knobs...

OK, it's not a tank... its a godd plastic box, but its still plastic.
I think the knobs are too small, but fuck it, it's a "mini pedal" anyway! I would gig without a backup because I only use it in a few solos.

I got it used, and payed +or- R$150, thats $45 dollars. Nice price, and it's good enough to me. Try it before buying some expansive pedal you wont use a lot...

very, very vesitle- and very function.
reminds me of a BOSS stereo chorus I used to have- thick, creamy, and lush. It can also get that "thing from outer space" noise if you want.
It sounds great w/ my strat and w/ my acoustic. Perfect for strumming.

OK- I've had it for a year and some change. I've never abused it- and it gets used very little. It has developed a definate problem: if I use it for more than 15 minutes, the tones jumps to that "thing from space" sound I brought up earlier. It doesn't matter what setting I have it on- come 15 minutes, the sound starts getting progressivly strange until it becomes this detuned mess o' feedback. (And, yes, I changed the battery. In fact I tried 5 batteries and still got the same thing.

It's great while it lasts. But bottom line, I bought this pedal to save money. I've learned my lesson- you get what you pay for. Dano makes better built pedals than these minis- save up and buy one of them or something else. This one just can't hang in for the long haul.

Simple: speed and depth (I guess this is sorta like the mix adjustment) knobs. No manual...Dano doesn't really have one for their minis.

I've never been a fan of chorus, however, I heard a Boss CE5 Chorus Ensemble that had a nice clean, shallow shimmer to it (like a 12-string). I didn't want to spend the money on a Boss, so I went with the Milkshake, intending to upgrade. I was very pleasanly surprised when I set the speed around 10 o'clock and the depth around 11:30. It gave me EXACTLY what I was looking for!
Even better, when I use it with my Big Muff (Russian) and DOD Harmonic Enhancer before it, I actually got a little bit of the Jimi Hendrix/Univibe sort of sound. I could get really crazy feedback and amazing presence through my Pignose G60VR tube combo! The Milkshake adds no noise to my signal, but does boost my signal ever so slightly when it is on.

Never had any problems with reliability, especially since I use a pedalboard power supply instead of a battery.

I tried e-mailing Danelectro about a question once and they never got back to me. Otherwise, I've never really had to deal with them.

I use this when I play with my band. Our style is modern rock a la Nirvana, Pearl Jam, etc. Like I said earlier, I only use it in a couple songs. We do a cheesy Nirvana cover, in which I can get the watery "Come As You Are" sound, but I seldom use that setting.
I made the unfortunate mistake of trading it toward an Electro-Harmonix Small Clone when I wanted to upgrade. Don't get me wrong, the Clone is a good pedal, but a completely different beast; much warmer, less versatile (only a 2-way switch for depth), and thicker and thus it does not fit what I'm looking for. I recently tried out the Cool Cat, but it too seemed a little warm. I need to compare the Cat, the Clone, and the Milkshake side-by-side before I decide if I'm going back to the Milkshake or not.

Thie pedal sounds pretty good. The thing that I wish that it had was a saturation knob to mix the chorus with dry but oh well, it was only $30.

It's a lot sturdier that I thought it would be. But still, it's plastic so things can possibly go wrong. I would use it without a backup because its not essential to my sound. If it died, I'd just take it out of the chain.
