My rig: guitars with boutique humbuckers or single coils going straight into this pedal and then going straight into a Pignose G40V. The sound quality is fantastic, but if you are used to the typical Tom Morello-style overbearing flange, you will find the tones that come from this pedal to be a little weak. I have always used flange a little differently than most people - I turn the depth up high and keep the speed and regency down very low. This adds a special color to my tone without "flanging your ears off." It thickens up your distortion and juices up your clean tones without the effect taking over. At this setting, this flanger is perfect for me. The sound is clear and sparkles nicely. It works just the way a pedal should - provide a little more color to your great existing tone. It is a bit of a noisy pedal I suppose, but no more so than many other pedals more expensive. Excellent tones, overall.

Don't be scared of plastic. They make artificial hearts and bullet-proof glass out of plastic. I gig without a backup and have never had any reliability issues. My Digitech flanger died before this one did. Full points here.

I'm not the type to call customer support when my gear breaks. I buy cheap gear and let my hands do the rest of the work. If this pedal breaks, I will just buy a new pedal. Why bother with customer support?

I've been playing 12 years or so. I play rock and progressive rock. I have owned a couple of other flangers. The Boss and Digitech units had more features, but the tone was less "organic," by which I mean that you could tell that it was a Boss or a Digitech, but you couldn't tell what amp or what guitar. This flanger on the other hand sounds great, but still sounds LIKE ME. If flange is vitally important to you, then yes I suppose you should go with a more expensive unit. This one is simple, sounds great, is a bit more subtle, and has fewer overall settings. Personally, I think it sounds much better than the Digitech or the Boss units I had - and it has lasted longer! Definitely has a great vintage vibe and pairs well with any setup.

It's a little on the cheesy side, but what do you expect from a $30.00 flanger? Kinda thin and noisy, but you can get some nice silly, chewy over-the-top sounds out of it. It does an okay rotating speaker impersonation, especially when combined with tremelo.

Mine lives on my pedal board, so it's relatively safe. I don't think it'd last long if it was plugged and unplugged from a line of pedals on the floor in front of me every time I played. Again, for thirty bucks it's alright.

I play a wide variety of music and have been doing so for thirty years both professionally and not. Basically I think anyone who takes a flanger seriously as a pedal is a dork (or Robin Trower...). That said, swooshy sounds for $30.00? How can you go wrong? For that price I'll be a dork too. If it died today I wouldn't be sad and I wouldn't rush right out to replace it either. However, if I happened to have a couple twenties on me the next time I went to a GC to buy strings I would consider picking up another one. For the money it's a cool pedal, but it's not what I'd call a great pedal. I keep it on the pedal board mostly for amusement and sonic comedy.

Its harsh, even at low volumes its sucking my tone.
Ok, let me try again at HIGH tube amp volume,
BRB...
GAH, it sounds ok I guess. Just had my amp loud enough to have my pant legs vibrate and chest emplode.
I used it in the effects loop as suggested but it did not sound any better.
Try this, have no volume on your guitar, turn it off then turn it on then just let it stand there you can hear a wooshing sound even at low setting if the unit.
I have a digital flanger also and I dont use that.
It kind of fattens up or doubles your toneat very low setting but the constiant oscellating effect of my tube hiss *60 hrz sound* is goofy during silent parts.
Also I have an ENORMIOUS amp and its hard to get past volume 2.5.
Im thinking this would be better for humbucker pickups and a 10 inch amp or smaller champ.
Well its not getting along with my Tube amp and its amplifing my tube humm.
Its going back in the closit or perhapse Ill use it with my 12 string guitar.
To sum it up, $800 tube amp, $900 guitar plus $25 flanger plus single coils was bad and tone sucking!
The sound was "Cool" but even at lowest settings the "WOOSHING" was enough to make me unplug it and go back to tone.
*Kind of fattened up my sound but I think ill get a Keeley Mod $200 pedal*
For $5 It was not worth it but if you can get one on ebay for $10 and you like to collect guitar things you might use or might not then its ok.
I use Waves VST plugins and even though its a $2000 collection of effects it always sounds bad compared to hardware. In this case of the hashbrowns it smokes the hashbrows. I took this to my friends house and he would not even plug it in, he knows much more about this stuf then I do and said look for something analog from BOSS.
K, was cheaper then a 6 pack of beer but also gave my tone a hang over.
If it were stolen or lost id look around bars and clubs for the woosh sound untill I found the guy (Not the device)
Been playing for 20 years on acoustic, this is my first fender strat.
I compare this to waves plugins and my digital device but the digital device is a lot "Lower volume" and does not woosh at low guitar volume.
THe hash browns name is dorky, I remember when this device came out new and I they were BUDGET items that enabled you to buy their entire salid of effects for very low money.

I bought it used over a year ago. Have only used it at home. Seems like it would be OK as long as you don't abuse it. I may assemble a pedal board and add this in. Keeping your effects on a pedal board
and in a case of some sort may be an option for those who freak out everytime they see a pedal made of plastic.
I have an old distortion pedal that has a metal case - that old pedal also has TERRIBLE TONE.
I would rather have a good sounding pedal with a plastic box than a crappy sounding pedal in a metal case.

This pedal requires minimal brainpower to get the desired effect. It is a simple stompbox that has a great Flanger sound, with less noise than other flangers I've tried, and it is incredibly in-expensive as well. Probably the best value out there for a flanger. It has a 9v adaptor or works off the battery. The button is small and the case is made of durable hard plastic, but unless you're an ape with BAD AIM, it should be simple enough to activate. The button is noise-free. I don't have a manual. I bought this pedal used. It is very easy to operate.

I generally use a wah, distortion, phaser and this pedal. I have used this pedal by itself during practice. It is not noisy, and doesn't seem to suck the tone out of the pedal although it isn't a "true-bypass" circuit. The flanger effect is perfect.

I use a Fender Highway 1 Strat, a Crate GX212 combo, a Boss PH-2, an Ibanez DE-7, and of course the Hash Browns flanger. For one, I'm not all too big on flangers, and I find this one more repulsive than others. It is good when mixed with the distortion, but that's about it. It's kinda noisy and I've found (at least in mine) that if you use those new E2 Energizer batteries for it, it worls for about a minute, then completely shorts out. Overall, I'm not too satisfied with this pedal.

This thing is the biggest piece of crap ever built. First of all, it's made of plastic. PLASTIC! The knobs are mounted really badly and are VERY easy to lose of you're not careful. It gets chipped just by being on the ground. In regards to the battery door... where is it? Having to unscrew the bottom just to change the battery is bad in two ways: it's a pain in the ass, and THE CIRCUITRY GETS COMPLETELY EXPOSED! I can't even begin to think of all the fun mishaps that can turn your $20 or so investment into a table prop or coaster.

I got this pedal as a gift, and it truly is the thought that counts. Though this pedal can get the job fairly done at a reasonable price, I don't recommend it at all; not even for the poor musicians. Just go out and find a phaser (Boss PH-2 is the best if you can find a good used one) or if you want a flanger that badly, I suggest an Ibanez chorus/flange (that way you have the lush sound of a chorus at your disposal if you suddenly find the sould of a flanger utterly repulsive). As for the Danelectro company, here are a few tips: ditch the plastic pedal idea. It's the worst. Redesign your pedals, because they are the most ridiculous looking things I've ever seen. Make a bigger stomp button (at least) because sometimes, people step a little too short of it, thus failing to turn the effect on or off. Last but certainly not the least, DITCH THE STUPID NAMES! Go with the first two letters of the name of the effect, or just call it Danelectro (insert name here), but quit the Hash Browns, Pepperoni, Milk Shake, Daddy-O 50's crap, it's horrendous and annoying.

Has an absoulutely beautiful sound! I play it with a Seagull S6+CW acoustic guitar, Digitech Main Squeeze Compressor, Zoom 707 multi effects processor, and then the Hash Browns flanger. I usually set the speed at 1:00, regen 9:00, and the width at 3:00. This produces a beautiful chorus sound with a slight swirling effect. I use this for slow songs mostly and can't get enough of playing with this sound! The only problem I have with the effect is that there is no output control, and the pedal seems to increase the signal slightly. I set my Zoom 707 to be used as a volume pedal that decreases the volume by 2dbs. When I use the flanger I decrease the volume by 2dbs and the ouput level stays the same. Not a huge difference, but when playing a quiet song you don't want to draw attention to the effect when you turn it on.

No problems so far. It's plastic and the knobs aren't mounted very solid, but it's a flanger and I don't plan on stomping on it. The sound quality is excellent for the price and the pedal is worth taking care of and not abusing.

I have been playing electric and acoustic guitar for 15 years, and bass for 2. I play acoustic guitar driven modern worship music in my church, and for slow songs this is my dream sound. Using a chorus like setting, it sounds like a blend between an electric and an acoustic guitar. I bought it because of the very good reviews on this web site, and because I didn't want to spend alot on a flanger. This is a very quality sounding effect for a very reasonable price. I would definately replace it if something happened.

Mine is loaded up in the mini-case with four other Dano pedals. It doesn't sound near as good as the MXR Flanger I had in the 80s, but it also didn't cost anywhere near what that MXR did. I like the sound of this mini thing. It's deep and warm, sound really with clean guitar. My configuration was; Guitar - Crybaby - Hashbrows - Boss CE-1 - Boss HM-2 - small crappy amp. I use a variety of guitars (Gibson, PRS, Fender, Washburn, etc...) with this pedal. As far as other effects go, I plug into an ernie ball volume pedal, a crybaby wah, the hash browns, and a line 6 MM4 before going to my amp, which is a Peavey transfex pro 212. There is virtually no noise added with this pedal when it's active or off and it sounds very good with my other gear. The sound is very lush and thick, but it doesn't rob your sound of any definition. It may be a little subtle for some people, but I prefer it's warmth to the metallic/jet-like sound of other flangers that I've had experience with (such as boss, digitech, and dod). It certainly has an analogue quality to it and it's very easy to get an Alex Lifeson/Andy Summers sort of sound with it.

Although the case is plastic, it has been reliable. The switch is silent and also very durable. I would kind of prefer that it had the same metal case as the cool cat etc..., but, for the price I guess that's out of the question, and, so far, it hasn't been an issue.

I have been playing for almost 25 years, and I have owned a lot of gear over the years. I have always been a bit of an effect junkie, so I've tried just about anything I could get my hands on. Overall, this is an amazing piece of gear regardless of the price. In fact, I bought this pedal on a whim because it was so cheap and I was going to use it to tide me over while I put some money aside for an EH electric mistress. Well I ended up getting the EH, and tried to convince myself for 6 months that it sounded better than the hash browns (after all, it cost three times the price!), but when I put the danelecro back in the chain a did an A/B test I actually preffered it! My electric mistress is now back in it's box waiting to be traded in on the next effect. So, although this seems to be aimed at begginers that don't have a lot of money to spend on effects, the bottom line is that the sound quality is equal to, or better than other units with much higher price tags.

This thing is a real fantastic value! I really don't know how dano is able to put in such great sounds with just so little money. But here's the catch, I've put it on sale. Why? Because this little sucker SUCKS MY TONE! It's very noticable for me the moment I put it in my chain, but I'm a tone freak though, a little tiny weeney change in my precious tone will piss me off terribly. I've compared putting a Boss pedal in my chain instead of the dano flanger and I don't notice any tone sucking. But the dano flanger made my sound dry, most people won't care about this little tone suckage but I do mind. Even though this is really a fantastic value for a flanger.

Here's what. I really have to agree with the glowing reviews. It sounds damn good for a little amount of money. It's not particular noisy and it sounds very good with my distortion. One thing I have to point out is, I sort of think this alters my tone a little little bit, I'm very paranoid about my tone. Sometimes when I find it alters my tone a bit, I put it away then next day I put it back in my setup, it dosen't seem to affect my tone. Well, it's just me only anyway. I could not give it full marks because of this.

You bet I can depend on it. The whole plastic thing does not scare me at all, because I don't stomp on flanger pedal, I only stomp on my EQ or distortion. Stomping on flanger pedal looks wierd when performing, doesen't it? While stomping on distortion pedal looks cool as you change from clean sound to distortion sound, it gives the feeling. imho though. I have to use this for a longer period of time to give a judge on realibity.

I love it. Gets the mono room-pan as well as my Ibanez Time Mcahine rackmount. Very quiet. No significant tone coloration when off. I have four mini-pedals in a row in the case and am happy with all of them. Playing a Thinline and Strat through a homebrew Deluxe, which loves these little guys.

All my mini-pedals (the oldest is more than a year old) have been fine. They're cheap, and if they break subject to normal use Dano seems good about replacing them. Had no problems with these. They chew batteries, though. Some people who complain about weird distortions and no sound have just pushed their batts too far.

I'd say this even if it wasn't cheap. A great sounding effectize. I have the mini-case and it's much smaller and slimmer than the Boss BCB6 I just sold. I'm waiting for the chorus and then I have my set.

Here's where I have to disagree with the other glowing reviews. It's a terrific flanger and it does have an unexpectedly large amount of depth a tone for a $20 pedal......but it creates a TON of noise. Maybe it's partially owing to my cheap amp (10W Crate beginner amp) but as soon as I switch this pedal on, I can hear ambient swirling sounds even if I'm not playing anything. It's very noticeable.
Great sounding pedal, but very noisy.

Overall, it's a great pedal, I mean you can get one on eBay for $20, and the sound quality is phenomenal for that price. I'd say it's an A+ live pedal but only a B- recording effect because it creates a lot of ambient noise. Overall, I'd buy it again if I had to.

Only had it a few weeks, so it's hard to say. I don't gig with duplicate pedals, I'm not that effects-dependent. If something goes bad - I'd kill the whole pedal board if necessary and run straight into my amp. The chassis is a burgundy plastic but it should hold up all right unless you repeatedly stomp it with an ill-intentioned combat boot. I haven't had any problem with it.

After years of playing straight-up punk rock (proudly forsaking all pedals and playing a sticker-splattered strat copy with a single pickup and volume pot straight into a Marshall amp) I've started to experiment a bit. I currently play rock and roll - a little on the stoner-rock side but with plenty of blues influence. I use this pedal sparingly for a tripped out, liquid-y lead sound as I prefer to keep my rhythm playing un-effected. I now play an SG>Sabine Stage Tuner>Dano Hash Browns>Boss DS-1>Boss Trem/Pan pedal>Rockman Wah>Marshall JCM 900 2X12 Combo. For what I paid, I'd definitely replace this pedal. Like all effects: I think it should be used like a seasoning rather than a main dish, but I love this thing and the dinky size isn't so bad when you realize the room it saves you on the board - you get excellent sound and value for the money. If all the Dano minis are this good, I may end up with many more...

i play : SG>big muff>boss flanger> hash brown>boss superphaser> dod octoplus> carlsbro 50 valve head. l play heavy stoner rock, mainly just using the muff, with the other pedals here and there. the hash brown sounds very similar to the boss flanger and provides the range of sounds you would expect. it's not noisy at all, and is quite subtle when used with the muff. it has a nice echo-y sound, and sounds great when used clean.ive used dod and guyatone flangers, and i would rate this one (along with the boss) as the best i've played.a quality piece of kit!

Sound quality is great I have a:
Squire Stratocaster/DeArmond M-55> Rouge DST-5>DJ-8>Rouge Amp.
With this set-up I can run through dirty or clean channels on the amp, and on both channels the flanger worked great, it works very wonderfull with the DST- which is a distortion.
You can get a great sound, when I was trying it out at the store I got a very Jimi Hendrix (as is Bold as Love) sound, and at home (because I only have a solid-state amp) I can get mostly weird sounds, and sounds that are very nice for rythem guitar, somehow the flange can sound good with punk, as it gives the guitar another dimenshion.

It is made out of plastic, but the plastic seems to be very hard, and just as long as you don't jump on it, it should work awhile, not sure about battery length, but if you change the battery before every gig, you should be alright.

The sound from this thing is amazing. I thought an FX pedal the size of a tennis ball would be a total peice of junk, but i was very wrong.
I've tried alot of flangerz (some where like #70 ones), and this was the best i tried. Theres no point going for expensive ones just because they are expensive, this one is as good as any expensive one.
My rig at the mo is:
Fleetwood strat copy/Epiphone LP >
Marshall JH-1 Jackhammer >
DANO FLANGER >
Boss DD3 Delay >
Digitech whammy >
Proel wah >
Marshall LM 6100 amp
I play darkwave jungle nu-metal (bit like Pitchshifter/KoRn) which envolves alot of weird sounds and FX so this pedal fits in perfectly. If you run it wit distortion, you get the sound from the begining of 'Blind' (KoRn), or if you turn all the controls all the way up you get the sound from the verse of 'Freak on a leash' (also KoRn).
Endless possibilities :)

No switch noise (which is what I love a bout all Dano pedals) Play it through Gibson Les Pauls (Studio, Jr. and Special) into an Ampeg Reverborocket, there is no cheap pedal buzz which surprised me considering what this cost. I've got other Dano pedals (Daddy O and Fab Tone) and have never had a problem with them. This one is constructed quite a bit cheaper and though I haven't had any problems yet it wouldn't surprise me if the switch or one of the knobs doesn't go in the future. I really wish they would have made one in their vintage series line, with the metal housing, i would have easily paid another 50 to 60 bucks more for that.

For the price this may be one of the best pedals out there, it in no way is going to make you want to toss your better flanger pedals costing 8 to 10 times more but I wouldn't spend the extra bucks on a Boss over this, I found this one easier to use and the sound quality is acceptional. I play alternapoppunk and only need flange for a handful of songs so this really fits the bill. I've been playing guitar for about 20 years and in bands for about 7 years. I've spent a decent amount of money on good equipment over the years so $25.00 on this pedal was a no brainer. These mini pedals haven't been around too long so there is no way of determining how long one of these baby's will last. Unless there is some serious structural or sound deterioration over the long haul I would definately recommend it for someone who doesn't need flange all the time.

This is tough, the Flanger sound is good...BUT the unit alters the sound some what. It is definatly noticable if you run it after your pre-amp (which you should do to avoid mega noise created by the pre-amp). I used a patchmate to switch the unit in and out of my path and it made the signal louder and less clear. This was done with the flanger in the bypass mode.

I'm not an especially big fan of flangers, since every time i play with one, i end up sounding like some jet plane van halen shit. But i learned a neat little trick with this. If you put a flanger in line before the signal is actually processed and overdriven, it seems to "confuse" the distortion sometimes. So don't run it through the effects loop unless you want some eddie van halen crap. Anyway, i can come up with some convincing Tool sounds here and there. Adam jones always had this way of making me wonder just what the hell he was doing. It seemed that sometimes his signal turned to mush and i couldn't make out what he was doing, just for a second. Well, i can sort-of do that with the pedal in line.

Also if you turn all the knobs all the way down, you can get some really interesting preamp coloring. It's not bad, but i wouldn't pay anything over $30 for it.

Its very easy to use. Speed (controls how fast the effect modulates), Width (controls the intensity of the effect), and regeneration (controls the amount and intensity of the filter sweep). The only thing tricky about it is the sweep of the filter can be a bit unpredictable, but its probably the same way with most flangers.

This is my current signal chain. Guitar(Fender strat with seymour duncan little 59er in bridge or an epiphone sg) to boss oc-2 octave to ibanez ts-7 tubscreamer to peavey classic 50 head (a great underrated amp) then in the effects loop a mxr phase 90 to the hashbrowns flanger to dod stereo chorus to ibanez de-7 delay. The quality of the sound is great i usually keep the pedal set to speed at 1-2 oclock, regen at 3 oclock, and the width maxed out. This gives a really swooshy, detuny, trippy sound when played clean, and a jet plane sound when used with distortion (that van halen thing). This definetly isn't a weak effect, in fact its a noise makers (like me) delight. When my strat is in the tween position i can nail the intro to metallica's one(not that i like metallica i just like that particular song), yet the sound also reminds me alot of the sonic youth modulated clean sound on nyc ghosts and flowers (maybe they used it). Of course with distortion you can get some insane noises with this thing. Also with the regeneration turned all the way down, it does a pretty good twelve string impersonation. The effect doesn't seem to make any extraneous noise when bypassed.

I plug my Danelectro Hodad or my Fender Strat into an SKB pedalboard. The first loop is Wah > Big Muff > Danelectro Fab tone. That goes directly into my Tech 21 Trademark 60. The second loop is the Hash Browns into a Toneworks Pandora's Box into the effects loop. The nice thing about my setup is that I can keep the Hash Browns on and use the effects loop button on my footswitch to turn on and off the effect. I don't have to worry about smashing the pedal in the heat of the moment. I tend to either set all the controls at ten o'clock for a slow sweep, or I set everything to the max for really sci-fi kind of sounds. It sounds great with distortion, wah, ect. This is a really cool, really simple little pedal. Three basic knobs to adjust speed and width, and a footswitch. It might take you a little effort to find a comfortable setting (depending on what your looking for), but this thing goes from sounding spacey to tough...

Guitar players... I am giving away what might be my greatest TONE secret. If you get famous before me, I'll probably regret this, but I bought this pedal with specific intent and use it solely with my Acoustic-Electric guitar. I play a Takamine EF-341C through either a Fender Hot Rod Deville or a Fender Acoustasonic SFX. This little pedal yields some of the coolest acoustic sounds I have ever heard. I love it... I still can't believe that $1000 guitar and a $600 amp sound so much better when you plug in to a $29 pedal named after a fried food product. If you are doing covers you can beef up some awesome tunes or if you are looking for your own sound this may be ticket. I usually throw all the knobs between 12 and 2 o'clock and let my fingers do the work. It is quiet and seems to be a true bypass circuit... if it isn't, well it doesn't seem to be an issue.

In terms of rating this pedal based on its value, I look at its performance, not its price. If this pedal was $100 I would call it a great deal. If you are a big fan of playing your acoustic plugged in then this pedal could change your life. I just hope that it changes mine first.... Have fun with it...

I was extermly suprised when I heard it. i was about to leave and began to talk to the sales guy and he suggested i trie it. so i did and could not belive it. it sounded better than the ibanez and dod flangers i was playing with. i grabed it for 25 bucks. i run a digitech whammy a bossDD-5 and this hash browns flanger through the effects loop on my Marshall DSL50. i run a ibanezrg520 or a strat into a crybaby into the amp. it can get a great sound for the price!

3 knob setup. Very easy to figure out. A mix control would have been nice to vary the amount of effect vs. clean guitar sound. The button is a little small. I can't tell by pure foot feel whether or not I've turned the effect on/off.

I got this to have some fun. I generally just run a Gibson L6S through a Marshall distortion pedal into a Fender Super Reverb. I thought I'd use this pedal maybe once or twice in a two hour set but am finding it a lot more useful than that.
Crank all the knobs to 10 and it gives great, spacey-type sounds but you can also turn things down to just add a little texture to clean rhythm chords.

If I were the kind of player who actually STOMPED on the pedal, I'd be worried. But I think if you use some common sense it should hold up. I'm a little worried about the knobs breaking off. Because of that, I held on to the box it came in to keep it protected when I throw it in with the rest of my effects, cables, etc.

My bass player put it best: The best $29 I ever spent on music equipment. It's a whole lot better than I had expected. I didn't try any other flangers because they were all at least twice as expensive.
Although I'm guessing the small, plastic box is one way that Dano kept the cost low, a larger more sturdy case would make me feel more comfortable with it. I've abused some BOSS pedals for 15 years now and they are no worse for wear other than some paint chips. This thing won't stand up to that. On the other hand, I've grown up a bit in the past 15 years and don't abuse my equipment any more!
Overall rating is higher than the individual ratings. It's that ol' "sum of the parts" thing.

I use a 1976 Electra Omega with a Danelectro Surf and Truf Compressor (another great pedal for the price!) also an EQ and sometimes my old Ibaned SD-9 Sonic Distortion then into a Marshall JCM 2000 DSL 50 Head and 1960A Cabinet. There is vertually no noise. I have played many flangers, much more expensive, and this one is very strong -- great sound. This effect is perfect for getting the sound I need for songs like "Cradle Will Rock" and "Unchaned" or "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love", you get the idea. Great for Van Halen fans.

So far, it has been completly reliable; however, I must say I'm a little nervous about it being housed in a plastic case. If your careful with it at gigs, it will probably be just fine.

I'm using an mid-80s Ibanez Roadstar II -> Hash Browns -> Roland BC-60
The effect is extremely quiet, doesn't produce any noise (except when used with a single coil, obviously).. The effect has a good mix, but a 'mix' knob would have helped a bit to vary the effect a little more (although the range of this puppy is pretty decent)

It doesn't seem too fragile, but I can't help but thinking that the plastic mold will break although it does feel quite sturdy.. For peace of mind, I would have preferred a metal box.. Stomping on this pedal probably won't break, just don't jump on to it
I would probably use it on a gig without a backup since it seems like it was built decently (and I don't consider it an essential part of my sound)

I'm starting to experiment with new sounds, and this pedal makes those slow chorus pieces more interesting and varied. For the price, it's definitely something to consider, especially if you're in the market for something new.. I don't know how it compares with other flangers, but this one does a pretty good job

They must have been cyrogenicly frozen and think they're still in the seventies, this pedal gives kickass pro sound at a price that beginers, hobby and budget players can afford. I went in rather sceptical as I'd tried other plastic noise boxes (Ibanez) before, It floored me. Great jet swooshes at the more extreme depth and a nice flowing sound when depth is lowered.
I like my mod effects at thier lower limits but it can create some pretty spacey sounds if you bring it up. Really thickens the sound. I haven't tried the MXR but this has produced everything a flanger should, much better than boss and twenty times better than a noisetank and at half the price.

I play alternative, folk, metal, blues & jazz, this will send my alt sound to the moon. I can't wait to scrap up the measly $60, I know in the US you get $20 Rolls pedals or somthin' but this is real useable sound at a price cheaper then any other pedals that come into my music store. If your looking at a soundtank smash it with a hammer this pedal's cheaper and kicks alot cleaner, The Boss although more sturdy it's more expensive and way to subtle. Thank you Danelectro for bringing generation X the privilages of the flower children, I LOVE YOU

I have never used any pedal besides a wah before this and the Corned Beef Reverb (reviewed as well) I got in the same purchase. It took probably an hours worth to figure out how to go to thick slow sweeping flange (a la Rage) to icy and chorusy type effects (a la TooL) and everything in between.

My setup is quite meager - Fernandes LE-2 -> Dunlop Crybaby ->Hash Browns Flanger -> Corned Beef Reverb -> Crate GX-15
The actually quality is near flawless when it comes to suiting my style. One minor quarrel I have with it - when distortion is added it isn't as noticeable. Other than that it is a God-send. No noise whatsoever - it actually reduces noise from my amp, it seems.
It also sounds great with both of the other pedals on. I get a beautiful, mellow A Perfect Circle sound with it and my Corned Beef. Along with the wah I get a cool sound.

Only had it a day. When I first saw it in a magazine I thought they were novelty things. But when I saw it and used it, it seems like it can take minor beating. The circuit inside is in place very tightly, so I wouldn't worry too much about the inside and the casing is tough enough. I play Rage though, so I'll have to control my energies. ;)

This little thing was so cute, I had to try it. It was a simple impulse-buying thing. When I got home, I almost forgot about it. Then I plugged it in. Wow, what a sound this thing gets. Three little knobs and a footswitch. That's it. Turn this, turn that. It is that easy.

My basic setup is a Les Paul (also a Strat and a Tele) to a Marshall Guv'nor to a CryBaby (sometimes) to a DanEcho, and then to a Marshall VS265R in the clean channel. I never use my pedals and effects in the loop feature. I stuck the Hash Brown (flanger) right before the echo. My echo is always last in the chain.
The flange effects on this thing are really respectable. In fact, odd as it may sound (since this thing is so tiny and inexpensive), it may be the best sounding stomp box flanger I have ever heard. I mean, what it does, it does well; what it doesn't do, it doesn't do. All that I know is that I was cranking this morning using the flange here and there, and it sounded extraordinary.
The flange effects on this thing are really respectible

For the money, you can get a few of these and keep them as spares. But, as long as you don't really stomp on the unit (it's only plastic), I can't see any liability. I have only had this for one day, and so far it has been up to the task...

I am a lifetime player, and I'm not a kid. I have had all kinds of flangers (and everything else) over the years. It's an effect that is best used sparingly. I play blues-to-metal, but always just a bit over the top. I probably will not use this unit all that much, but when I need such an effect, I will use the Hash Browns, because it is so simple.
Flangers aren't like echo units: you can't just keep them on all the time without sounding obnoxious. Therefore, as you really don't want too many things in the chain anyway, I probably will not use it at all unless I have a specific reason to (or unless I want to sound like an incoming jet -- mondo cool).
I buy effects like Mrs. Marcos buys shoes. And I rarely use them. Most of the time, they are either too complex to use in a pressure situation, or I just get tired of the specific effect. In fact, I like it real simple. As few things as possible between the guitar and the amp. I see these guys with tons of rack-mounted effects and a dozen floor units, and I wonder what in Hell they think they are accomplishing with all of that canned noise. They don't make you play better, and they rarely make you sound all that better. Van Halen's gadgets sound great because Van Halen sounds great. Etc.
Nevertheless, I can recommend this unit.

wow, though I never got to try this thing out before getting it (it was a B-Day present), it sounds incredible. I've heard a few flangers before but this one sounds the most atmospheric and real. No digital computer $h!t here, this thing can be set to go from heavy swirling to a low chorus. I have it set up with speed at 11 o'clock, regen at 12 o'clock, and width at full 5. This gives me a heavy-light chorus flanger sound, truly awesome!

well, I just got it... it's not built like a tank like danelectro's original pedals (which are also awesome), however, I think if it's treated right (as in not jumping on it like a sumo wrestler and letting your dog play with it), it should last a good amount of years.

I hate the usual hyperbolic reviews, but i have to say this is the best sounding flanger i've used. i happen to like a warm, full and opaque sound (mxr for instance) and the controls on this one allow some really trippy sounds. i recorded with it the first night i had it and was stunned by the results. use a 70's strat into a '52 tweed.
