This is my second Danelectro pedal, and like the first one I never looked at the manual (which, seeing as I bought it in Japan, I can't read anyway!)

Sound Quality : 9
The second is VERY good, certainly as good as any delay. I'm giving it an 9, though, because the sound does tend to clip and stumble over itself when you play backwards at normal speed- HOWEVER, I recognise that this is unavoidable and that even the most expensive real-time pedal would have this problem, as you're always going to have a conflict between the phrase being played forward and the delay.

The trick I find to getting the best sound is try and listen to the noise your strings are making acoustically as well as the speaker sound. If you listen to just one or the other, it's very difficult (but a LOT of fun!).

Reliability : No Opinion
I haven't had it long enough, but I think if anything it's TOO solid.

I've been wanting a reverse pedal ever since I heard Jimi - my since-ditched multi effects had one which never worked, but with this unit I've found exactly what I wanted. For the price, there's nothing to complain about - if it cost another 5,000 Yen I'd expect a more precise way of controlling the effect and some use for the higher speed settings other than random bleeps (which I do actually like).

I play mostly Sonic Youth/Pavement indie rock or whatever it's called, but I like to play 60s psychedelic music also. The settings on this pedal can be tweaked to give you a mild wacky reverb, and it also gives you a very pleasing drone sound on open strings which I use in my ongoing project to replicate the sound of my sitar on guitar. It's not nearly as gimicky as I expected, in fact I find it more useful than my pitchshift\harmonist. I copes perfectly well with distortion, and I didn't find I had to be too careful about unwanted noise, no more so than when using a reverb. If wouldn't exactly recommend this be your first pedal, but if like me you've already got everything else under $150, I really recommend this puppy.

Every danelectro pedal is easy to control, with the trademark 3 knobs at the front, just plug in and play. Don't read the instructions this is for experimentation.

Sound Quality : 10
This pedal is amazing with any gear, no matter what amp, although the colour may not match. The sound is very authentic and can add texture to your playing you have never heard before, the originality of the pedal can't be matched and the sound will get you noticed.

Reliability : 9
All pedals eat up batterys like there's no tomorrow, this is no exception. Just keep the input socket out when not in use and it should be fine for a while, i recomend a seperate power supply.

Customer Support : 10
Easy to get hold of,if there are any problems although i havent needed to talk to danelectro because of a problem with the pedal.

Overall Rating : 10
great 60s stylee pedal, great for experimental people, if you like late beatles, pink floyd or radiohead then bear this in mind.

Pretty easy to use, but the main thing to do with this pedal is to experiment with it.

I got it used so I didn't get a manual.

Sound Quality : 9
This pedal sounds pretty good ... the backwards sounds are very clear (clearer than I was expecting) and there was no extra noise or tone change when the pedal was turned on / off.

The pedal worked great with other pedals ... but it didn't work too good through my POD when I was using the POD's drive setting to drive the amp model ... the Back Talk would get shrill sounding.

Reliability : 10
This pedal should hold up pretty well. I bought it used off of Ebay and the seller shipped it in a bubble envelope with nothing else and I opened up the envelope and the pedal played fine from the start.

I always use a pedal power supply (A/C power) so I don't have to worry about the pedal losing power.

Customer Support : 10
I've never delt with them.

Overall Rating : 7
Pretty neat "toy" pedal ... I say "toy" because this is a pedal that you won't want to use on every song (or it would loose the coolness of the effect). I think the pedal is priced too high (that's why I looked for a used one on Ebay). I saw as long as the pedal doesn't cost over $50 it's cool ... I wouldn't pay over $50 for this pedal.

This pedal is pretty easy to understand, there are only three clearly labeled knobs. The easiest way to get the hang of it is to plug it in and just jam with it for ten minutes.

Sound Quality : 8
I play this using a Synsonics steinberger-type copy guitar through my home stereo. The sound of the pedal is really great, you can do a whole lot with it. For instance, you can turn the repeats knob all the way to the left for a Beatles-type backwards solo, or you can turn it to the left for a looping sound that sounds like Fripp's late seventies albums, although backwards. If you turn the speed knob all the way down it makes this weird chirping noise that might be annoying to some people though.

Reliability : 6
I've used this pedal for about a year and a half now with no major complaints. I've only used it for recording, so I don't know how it would do on the road. The battery wears out really fast, though, even if you dump the supplied battery and switch to a Duracell or Energizer, and it can sometimes be annoying to start playing only to realize that the battery went out overnight.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I've never had need to contact the company, so I don't know.

Overall Rating : 8
I use this pedal to record really weird psychedelic style jams. It really is a fascinating effect to work with - you can start a loop and let it go on and on, and you can add notes to the loop and get a multilayered sound. The sound can be really addictive. One time I brought it over to a friend's house and he liked the pedal so much that he jammed with it for about forty minutes nonstop. I was playing the drums at the time, but after a while I got bored with his interminable soloing. I wish this pedal had a backward/forward type switch, so you could play forward and reerse with only one pedal. As it is, I now need to go out and buy a Danecho pedal to do forward looping.

Groovy. Takes a few minutes to understand, but it's a breeze not long after.

Sound Quality : 10
Awesome sounds. If you play through a good amp with good tone, this works great. No real problems with buzz or clicks on this part. It kind of is an explorational pedal, you continue to learn more over time about the possibilities. This rocks and rolls. And the sounds of my favourite artists is easily achieved. George Harrison and The Beatles reverse tape sounds such as "Tomorrow Never Knows," "Rain," "I'm Only Sleeping," and others. Sonny Landreth with John Hiatt, such as his lead on "Everybody went low". The list just goes on. True, if it is a polished lead you're figuring out, it takes some time to work it properly, but soundwise, it is great. I am very impressed.

Reliability : 10
I am extremely impressed at the sturdy construction Danelectro used. This is like a brick. The Easy access battery compartment is a breeze compared to just screws. Great.

This is very cool. It can be used for looping, straight forward (laugh) backwards playing, or some meddled reverse delays. This works with any sound, and is very awesome. It is highly recommended by myself and others. This is THE reverse delay pedal. nO kcoR.

This is one hell of a fun pedal to mess with. I run it through my sound card's mic input, because I won't have an amp until the end of the week. The sounds I got out of it in the first ten minutes of use blew me away. With the mix turned extremely low (IE between 7 and 8 o'clock), you can even use it as a regular delay pedal. I'll post some of the settings I use once I get my amp. The manual is a joke, it basically tells you how to put in the battery, but you really have to just tiwddle with it until you find your own settings. I haven't found an unuseable setting on it yet, except when it's MAXED out on all settings, it just makes a throbbing noise, that may not fly with some people.

Sound Quality : 10
The Pedal is amazing. Even through my crap-tastic sound card setup. I have an Ibanez RG450DX, with the stock INF pickups. The humbuckers distort a little, and distortion really throws the subtle nuances of the pedal's sound out of whack, but roll the guitar's volume back and engage a single coil (I only have one in the middle position) and that's where the pedal shines. I don't recommend using it on any settings but clean, but those of you who like to expiriment might come up with a good sound.
I only have enough cables to run one effect at a time. If you get two of these and set them out of phase to each other, you will create a very awesome effect. I record into my MS sound recorder, and reverse my recording and the sound that makes will blow your mind.
I bought it with "Are you Expirienced," and "Across the Universe" in my mind, and the pedal *can* make those sounds, but there is so much more it can do, you really can't limit yourself to Jimi, or one artist you want to be like. This is one pedal that you should try to do your own thing with.

Reliability : 10
Damn reliable. Danelectro "Big" pedal. So tough you can use it to smash open coconuts, when you play Sammy Hagar's Cabo Wabo. To cool to die.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never dealt with them. Don't really care much, I can usually fix them. If it stops working, I'd use that as an excuse to buy another, even if the battery is just dead.

Overall Rating : 10
I play everything. I'm fairly experimental. This pedal kicks serious ass. Try playing single note runs, arpeggios, slides, etc. I've been playing since I was a Sophomore in high school, now a Sophomore in college. I have a Psycho Flange, too, not quite as impressive as the Back Talk, but it was real cheap. If the *battery* died, I'd buy a new one, just to try it with two. It makes any solo rock. I do wish it were a little cheaper, but I got a deal on it. Viva Ebay!

This thing is kind of a complex effect that takes some time getting used to its annoyances, so some playing around with your technique is required. Honestly though, I was expecting that

Sound Quality : 9
I am using a mexi fat strat to a fender frontman 15. I tried it out in Mars Music. This thing is really awsome for what it does. It sounds amazing for solos or akward playing. It doesn't go well with alot of gain, maybe a light overdrive.

Try some complex solos at a slower pace for some truly trippy effect. Good for an odd song or part of song, don't over do it.

This thing really is great at what it does, the only reason its not at 10 is because when you pick hard or make hard noises, it makes annoying repeats of pick scrapes and slams and stuff.

Reliability : 7
Unfortunatley the danelectro pedals aren't known for their reliability, infact they usually die with a big "bossish" stomp. I treat my gear with alot of care so this isn't a problem, the 60's models are larger and stronger. I am not too concerned.

I do lots of music types. Everything from metal to punk to experimental indie and emocore. This really gives me a unique sound. I don't know if i could use it more than once. Unless its on very subtle settings. I am finding newer and cooler settings for it everyday. This thing really is awsome.

It's pretty easy to use--the manual is useless, but it's not a complicated setup. 3 knobs, mix, speed and repeats.

Sound Quality : 7
The sound itself is pretty cool. Of course, you can't play in time with it, but that's the nature of the beast. It's definitely a one-song kind of effect--you wouldn't want to use it all over the place or the excitement of the sound would be lost, but for what it does, it's cool.

Now here's my complaint--
The speed goes way too low. Essentially, setting the speed sets the length of the backwards phrase. Set too low, it just makes really fast hiccups. I set it very high to get a realistic backwards sound. Below 2 o clock it's useless to me. Also, when you're holding a note, when the next repeat comes around, it's louder than the previous signal (because of decay) so if you hold a note, you get hiccups. I realize this is unavoidable, it's just something to think about before you buy.

My other complaint is that if your attack is too strong, you sometimes can get the attack of the note when it occurs even with the original signal turned off. So you hear *staccato note* *pause* *delay effect*. They should fix that, because it sucks. Pick lightly and it doesn't happen.

Overall, this is a very fun effect that you can use to trip out your audience. I can get basically three sounds out of it--normal backwards solos, cascading chords by playing one note at a time with a lot of repeats, and mixing the original sound with the delay for a cool spacey sound.

I got this for $45 at a music store that was going out of business. Great buy. I play hard rock stuff--Zeppelin & Tool-style originals. Guitars are a 79 335 and a Les Paul 56 reissue through a Mesa Tremoverb, Deluxe Reverb, Gibson Discoverer or Gibson EH-150. (I love amps.) This pedal is a lot of fun. If it were stolen, I'd probably skip it, but I'd buy another if they:
1. Increased the delay time so the the entire range of the speed knob is usable and the time was longer.
2. Got rid of those "hiccups" when you dig in too hard.

Pretty easy to use, 3 knobs, Mix, speed and delay, pretty easy to get a good sound.

I have many different guitars but my main guitar is a fender strat with a duncan hot-rails in the bridge, that goes into a digitech whammy pedal, then a Boss DS-1 Distortion, then a Fender Blender, then the Back Talk, then a danelectro Danecho, then a EH Poly-chorus, and finally an EH Small Clone. I think this pedal sounds great, it creates many interesting sound and has basically infinite repeats if you turn the delay knob all the way up, and all the repeats sound backwards, its a cool sound.

Only had it about a week, but it seems fine.

Easy to use. Three knobs to adjust speeds and intesities etc... Could be a little more thorough but them it wouldn't be $114. The Boomerang is $450, but pretty complex.

Sound Quality : 10
I use a 335 with a boutique Holland amp and a ts9. It's not noisy. The effects are pretty powerful, it can loop a mellow sample or build on top of it to create a wall of sound. An excellent backwards guitar effect, very Jimi. I use it with a Mooger Fooger Ring Modulator and loop it during a long spacy techno funk jam in my band, semi Tortoise-like. It does what it is supposed to do for a great price, it deserves a 10.

Reliability : 5
Well, it's not handmade or anything, I wouldn't abuse it.

I mailed in my warranty...

I think this thing could be used by anyone... I especially like it for the music I play (Bitches Brew/Tortoise type stuff). I've been playing for 10 years and I wasn't aware of any inexpensive reverse/backwards guitar stuff so this is sweet! I would definitely buy it again. The only hard thing is to not use it too much, everyone will get sick of it, it'll make you want to play it all of the time. I will eventually purchase a Boomerang Phrase Sampler but that's a whole different thing. This thing is awesome, if you like the guitar solo in "Are You Experienced" than you need this pedal.
