I've had this unit new since about 1978. Just plug in and you're up and running. For a little extra something, flip the side toggle switch. Travel is longer than most I think, but it gives you more control over the sweeps.

The side toggle switch is ok but I never noticed much from it and very seldomed used it. The wah part was why I bought it and that works very nice for mixing up a little music for the crowd. I used it plugged directly into an older crate tube amp (30 watt)with a Fender Strat and sometimes with a Les Paul Standard, it really sounds nice on something like Clapton's Knocking on Heaven's Door or any song you need Wah on.

This beauty is built very very well. I've had it since the late seventies, and I've never had any problems with it and it still looks good and works well.

Overall, I really like the pedal. I play mostly blues and rock, and I don't really like pedals plugged in between my axe and the amp. I do own some basic pedals that I use sometimes and this is one of them. If I kept it for almost 30 years, must be pretty good!
I remember when I first bought it, I was looking at the cry baby and some others and still bought the THUNDERBOLT.
The one thing I missed on this was it had no external power plug. The battery last long enough though and I finally altered the wiring on my power supply by hooking up a standard 9 volt battery clip and I just clip it onto the battery clip inside the pedal. Works great!
