Very easy to use. Simple controls. Manual is somewhat low on info, but you really don't need it. I found the sound I wanted in less than 3min.

Sound Quality : 8
Sound is great, just like the samples on their page. I ran my Rickenbacker 4003 threw a BOSS ODB-3 overdrive then a Big Muff PI then the Sound Saw, it sounded like the sound saw was made for the big muff. It's also very loud and can create a wonderful choatic wall of sound.

The second channel is kinda weak, good for a muffeling sound, but the other channel blows it away.

It could also be used as a type of compressor, but its a bit too pricey for just that.

Listen to "A Place to Bury Strangers", it's the head guy at DBA's band, you'll get the idea behind their pedals.

Reliability : 10
It's built like a tank, good luck trying to break it. Internal wiring looks very neat and well made too.

Customer Support : 10
It says on the box : "Run it over with a truck and we'll fix it for free"

What's better than that?

I am playing a with sort of NIN/Sonic Youth/Autolux sound, and this goes great with it.

It's really 2 pedals in one, two differnt filters to enhance/muffle sound. Switching back and forth while playing creates some interesting results.

It's not for every one, you kinda need to like alot noise.

Also this pedal is DISCONTINUED, so if you want one, but it now!

It's not hard to use ... twiddle the diddles til it sounds right. This can take quite a while, so it's not really plug and play. I can't imagine not maxing the volume on both channels, but perhaps that's just me.

Sound Quality : 5
Well, it sounds great for the right thing. If you're playing noisy, it's super. If you're familiar with DBA mainman Oliver's band Skywave, this pedal will make a lot of sense to you. If you need gentle EQ tweaking for quieter material, this is probably not ideal.

There is a bit of pot-scratching when the volume dials are turned. but I've had cause to adjust this while the pedal is on. Also, there seems to be a dead-zone on the effect pots - they run out of track at the low end of the spectrum, so turning the knob won't change the effect. It's more confusing than problematic, as there is still considerable frequency sweep.

Reliability : 10
Rugged as all get-out. No worries here.

Oliver rocks. He will answer your questions, make modifications, etc. He put an AC adapter on mine.

Overall Rating : 8
Superb for carving and boosting washes of distorted noise. For quieter material, it's a sort of an instant lo-fi box. When you want to sound like Sebadoh or something. Maybe you can do other things with it, but I haven't.

It's two effects in one, but you can't use both simulaneously. That would a be a nice option. Or maybe they'd cancel each other out.

In its most base use, this is an eq pedal, but not your average off-the-shelf standard. There are four knobs: two volume knobs (one for each eq band) and two frequence knobs (ditto). This pedal takes some screwing with, since the bands coverage such a broad spectrum and the frequency knobs aren't labeled. So, you actually have to rely on your ears for this one... damn. One band seems to be more extreme trebbly/sizzly, while the other is better for ground-shaking bottom, though both could do either to a degree.

Sound Quality : 9
This box is capable of highly chaotic/noisy results (purists can take a hike). Since it's really an eq, the sound depends on which distortion pedal (if that's what you're typically striving for with this) you use this after... though not as much as you'd expect, since this pedal is so powerful. The sound saw is delightfully noisy in tone, not dynamics... there's very little hiss, even without a gate, which means high quality components all around.

Reliability : 10
This fucking thing is sheet metal with corners that could disembowel someone. The knobs are sturdy, not cheep plastic, and offer a satisfying amount of resistance when turned. The metallic poppy on/off switch is exactly the same as on any MXR pedal. The two jacks are also metal and very solid.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Never had to deal with them, but I guess they'd be fun people to deal with.

Overall Rating : 9
I play noisy industrial, not stupid fucking club shit, but industrial. I own a bunch of other noise makers including an MXR Blue Box, which, when paired with the Sound Saw and Ibanez FZ-7 Fuzz, is noise heaven. I'd imagine you could use this pedal on anything, but its main purpose for me is guitar. I do a lot of Nile-type death metal palm muting and this one doesn't disappoint; same for string muting - extremely thick and chunky. This isn't for the faint. I wish both eq circuits could be used simultaneously because, as it is, only one or the other can be used. This may be somewhat pricy for some, but if you obsess over your tone like I do, then grab one of these assassins and go to town.
