DeltaLab DGFX1

This is a really easy pedal to use, and an easy unit to get a decent sound out of. even tho there are only 2 knobs, it's really easy to create your own patches.

Rotate 1 knob to the effect, the other button is a push in to change parameters and twist to set the effect.

The manual is short, sweet and to the point.

It's not as editable as some... and the tones aren't as good as from other pieces of gear, but it's a good practice knock around piece.

I use this with headphones. It stays in my guitar case when I travel so I can play guitar in whatever hotel I'm in. This week I'm travelling with a Parker P-36 and a Les Paul.

It says that you can use it with a guitar amp, but I've found that most processors sound better through a keyboard amp than a guitar amp. I'll try it through both when I get back to my studio.

The acoustic guitar seems to have a lot of noise associated with it. But it might go away if you tweak the compression. I'll flip on the piezo on the parker and tweak it tonight to see how it changes.

I've found that most sounds are decent if you do a little editing.

I bought it because it was cheap. I wanted to be able to practice against drum machines with different sounds. I think it's decent for practicing... I'm not sure I would gig with it. It's just too small and light for my taste.

I play everything jazz, new-age, country and rock guitar... I have been able to get every sound that I've wanted playing with this.

I've been playing for 10 years, gigging for 5. On stage, I use an Adrenalinn A3, Korg AX-3000G and an RC-20 Loop station.

If it were lost or stolen, I would replace it at this price point. It's less expensive than the Pandora PX-Series or any of the other multi-effects.

Took awhile to learn my way around the menus but now, after 2 hours with a mediocre manual, I like it.

Dialing the knobs is better than pushing buttons on other similar units

Noisy on distorted settings, amp and pedal mods are weak but usable

I play in a variety of bands- jazz, big band, blues and rock bands and need a pedal that does all of the above. I like the readout and variety of effects available and love the price

Walked into GC thinking Boss ME-70 and saw this on the shelf for $99. Thought this was not available until June/09, but here it was. So I put the ME-70 on hold and told the sales guy - let's give it a go. We gave it a fair shake, putting a new Fender Road Worn Strat into it, and feeding it into a mid-sized Marshall non-tube amp, a rig a lot of people might own.
Didn't even crack the manual, didn't need to. It is easy to navigate.
Unfortunately, the blue LCD readout is almost impossible to read unless you have it almost on your lap. The teeny menu functions on the top of the LCD display are maybe 1/8" high. Who can read that from 5-6 feet away?? Maybe better in a dark room. The blue LCD looks cool on the box, but in real life it's a pain.
It is however, easy to use - real easy as long as you have very restricted needs. Restricted is the key word here. So down it goes in worth.

With the Strat setup and the Marshall, I thought this a fair test.
It has the usual distorted sounds, and a couple of clean ones. There are some strange things, wah-wah looping and reverse junk sounds you would never use save for a short overdub on a recording. Like you would ever record with this...
The trouble is that you are looking at a cheap pedal, and you get cheap sounds. Here I was with a $1000 guitar into a $400 Marshall amp and this thing actually made them worse. I could not find one sound that I liked. All shallow, thin, very, very digital. And they have different levels of output, causing me to mess with my volume pot on the Strat.
The wah-wah is too trebley, thin.
I tried out maybe 30-35 sounds on this unit, didn't find one I liked save for bypass.
Don't waste your money on this one.
I did not even make it to the drum tracks.
On the other side, if you are on an absolute tight budget, and are looking for a few sounds, you might try it, but a low end Boss, like their model 10 or 20, would be a better choice.
IMHO, terrible sounds out of the Deltalab.
And with pedals like the Digitech RP150 and RP90 out there for $99, the Deltalab is seriously outgunned.

It looks like it could take it. The cord to the power adopter is thin and cheap. (yes they give you one - sounds like a good deal until you realize it's rolled into the price, so something else had to give)
The whole pedal is basically plastic, but is designed nicely, it should hold up for home use. I cannot see anyone using this on a gig.

Unknown. How 'bout 30 day return if you buy it at a major?

I play old rock and blues. Over a year now, 4th time in my life I started, this time it stuck. Play everyday. Current pedals include a Digitech RP500, a Digitech GNX3000 which I want to sell, and yes, I bought the Boss ME-70. RP500 and ME-70 are my two main pedals. Too many axes and amps to list.

NOTE: (March/09) Guitar Center has immediately put this Deltalab on sale on their website for $69.99 with free shipping. They will honor it in the stores if you make them look online at their own website. There's a reason for that. This pedal is not worth much at all. Absolutely try before you buy. If you like it, you got yourself a multi-effects pedal for under $70. But if you are like me, you'll find that the shallowness of this pedal will drive you in different directions.
$70 incorrectly spent is worse than more money properly spent. Go for something better or keep saving your money.
