Demeter Fat Control / Midboost

How could it be any easier to use? It has one knob. Turn it up and your signal gets boosted

I use a about 15 pedals between a Schecter PT Fastback or fender USA strat and a Demeter TGA2 50 watt head.

Terrific. No noise, no signal coloration when turned off.

I've used this in two ways:
1) in the effect loop in line with my effect pedals. I use this to create a mid-heavy lead boost. i'm a big fan of mick ronson's "ziggy stardust" tone, so in my mind, leads should not only leap out in front of everything else, they should be rich in mid-range harmonics.
2) as a preamp boost for single coil pickups. i put this between my strat and the input on my amp. the effect is marvelous. it's similar to a p90 or p100 with extra out-put and less single coil thinness, BUT it still retains all the clarity and character of a strat. brilliant!

i give it a 9 only because it has to be turned up to a fairly significant leap over your normal volume to have a lot of tonal effect. sometimes that much extra volume is useable in a smaller club setting or with a three-piece band.

SUPER reliable; my only complaint is that you have to keep an eye on the set screw that keeps the knob on... i lost mine.

This is the most appropriate boost pedal for my playing style. Great for screaming leads, extra harmonic yummies and dave gilmour-esque butter tones.

Some info I'll share. I've got a guitar that had one installed when I bought it. To me, it was too strong. I made the remark "if I had what I wanted, it would not add gain, only mids". John Suhr was kind enough to offer to mod the preamp for me. Now, I can switch between it and non active guitars without resetting everything. For me, this was a very welcome mod, costs very little and can be easily reversed. I now have a buffered output, regular gain at unity and that great mid boost when wanted. Thank you John!

This small 9v powered active midboost is available as an effect pedal or can be wired in your guitar. This is the midboost James Tyler of Tyler guitars has used for years. With both applications, it can be wired in a number of ways. There is a single control to determine the amount of boost. The pedal can be wired for true bypass. Demeter doesn't recommend this because the active sound when the boost is bypassed is a atronger signal than if the box is bypassed altogether. A quality black box with similar graphics. The only negative I find is the ac adapter is not the standard boss/ibanez type.

This unit is designed to enhance the frequencies and fatten the overall sound. It is an outstanding TONE MACHINE. Excellent for making a lead sound soar. This unit will make a single coil distort and compress similar to a humbucker. If you have heard a Fender Elite Stratocaster, you can get a comparable sound. (Think Ty Tabor of King's X early albums.) I love this pedal with my Joe Barden Strat pickups. It fills the sound and tames the brightness of the highs just enough for a great sound. It also sounds superb with a Barden two tone humbucker in single coil and humbucking mode. With a duncan humbucker, this pedal is a bit of a wash. The humbucker already excels at what this pedal adds. I love the sound with the bardens as definition and clarity are outstanding.
