This unit is not easy to program and few factory presets are "ready to go". Only when you master it you can achieve excellent results. The manual doesn't help you so much and it's easier to try on your own.

Sound Quality : 8
I use IBANEZ JPM-100, ROCKTRON VELOCITY 300 power amp and MARSHALL 1960 4x12" CABINET. The unit's very quiet and the noise gate works well (if you reduce the amount usually present in all factory presets!). All the digital effects are great but I don't like distortions. They are too weak. I don't like fuzzy tones or crunchy sounds and this units doesn't have BIG GREAT distortion. I like GEORGE LYNCH's lead tone and there's no way to obtain it from this unit. For these kind of sounds (LYNCH, LETEKRO) it's better the GSP-21 LEGEND (strange but true).

Reliability : 10
No problems at all but I know I'm very lucky! I've had a lot different multieffects, preamps, power amps etc. and none of them has given me troubles! Yes... I'm very lucky!!

I play progressive metal and probably there are better units around that fill my needs. This is for the "all rounder" and only average for my music. I play since 12 (now I'm 28) and I use a DIGITECH TSR-24S, a MESA BOOGIE TRIAXIS (this is GREAT!), a SANS AMP PSA-1 (tons of power!), a BOSS SX-700, a ROCKTRON VELOCITY 300, a BRUNETTI SILVER BULLET custom power amp, MARSHALL 1960 4x12" cabinets, CARVIN V212 cabinets and ADA MICROCAB speaker emulator. Guitars: IBANEZ JPM-100, IBANEZ 7-strings UNIVERSE and ANGEL italian custom made. Probably I won't buy it again. The price is high and only a small slice of power it deserves is dedicated to my genre of music.

Owner's manual is definitely the worst I've seen.. Luckily everything is quite logical and easily manageable even without manual. User interface is really good, IMHO. Simple infinite- knobs for altering values and a few short-cut buttons to jump between different effect-modules. Also 'programming' of the floor pedal (control one) is fail-proof. Just select anything you like to assign into pedal and tap/move that pedal/controller you wish.

Sound Quality : 10
Sound quality is good. No noise, no glitches. There isn't also too much delay between patches. Effects are really natural. Especially I like those reverbs and 'analog' delay. Doesn't sound 'digital' Wah isn't that special compared to my CryBaby. In fact it's just a bit different (a little less transparent than cb) and works fine where crybaby doesn't There also isn't so much of those 'trick' effects. (Waiting for that update)

Reliability : 9
Can't say much on reliability since I've had it only two months. Still, it has never let me down.

Customer Support : 10
I don't know about phone support or such but there's an excellent mailing list for 2112 (manufacturers representative is subscribed to the list and (in contrary to many other similar lists ; ) , answers promptly when asked Free upgrades are available every now and then, just like with 2101

Overall Rating : 9
I would definitely buy it again. I had some afterthoughts when I saw TC electronics' G-force but I'll gladly trade some processing power to fast/intuitive user interface and programmability.

Ease of Use : 8
The 2112 is easy to use once you get to understand it. The problem is the manual(my one anyway), which doesn't even tell you how to program your own patch! It only took me about 4 hours to work that out anyway. After that ,I think this is the easiest effects unit to use on sale at this moment. Everything is well laid out and the realtime control of Gain. Treble, Mid and Bass is really good when gigging in various places with different acoustics and stuff.

Sound Quality : 10
The sound quality excellent and in my use very quiet. The choruses, delayes and reverbs are as good as any musician would need(no need for a Lexicon!!). I had no problems with the clean or the semi-distorted sounds, but Smashing pumpkins type crunch proved to be alittle more difficult. It took me about one week of careful tweeking and i wound up using a combination of the tube and solidstate distortion paths, which by the way is a great invention from Digitech. The parametric EQ's helped a lot too. I used two six-band parametrics on my crunch. None of the effects sound weak except the wah-wah, which is crap. It's better than the 2101, but I still use my trustworthy Cry-baby in front of the 2112. The preset sounds in my opinion are really bad, but once you get your own sounds going you will be in heaven. Don't let the presets dissapoint you and put you off the machine.

Reliability : No Opinion
I have only had it for a very short while so i don't really know.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I haven't been in touch with the company. I don't think there is customer support in Finland, where i live.

Overall Rating : 9
I bought it with the Control one, which is great. I sure would buy it again. Idon't really need anything else, except a poweamplifier and a 4x12 cab!!!!!! Chuck out those old unreliable stompboxes( i have about 20) and get a 2112. You won't regret it.

I've been gigging and recording with the 2112 for a couple of months, traded in my GSP-21 for it. So far, I wish I still had my GSP-21! Few of the factory sounds are useful to me and I'm struggling to program the 7 or 8 basic patches I use live. The manual is not great; for example, there's no info on what the various speaker simulator settings are, just numbers. My unit is V 1.02.

Sound Quality : 3
This unit makes a considerable amount of noise, which can usually be dealt with using the included noise gate settings. I have a problem using it with my guitar synth, which frequently triggers the gates on the higher gain settings with no straight guitar output present. The distortion settings to my ear are not as good as the GSP-21, but I'm just beginning to put the necessary hours into tweaking them. Basically, I'm praying for Digitech to provide a set of better (artist?) patches in a coming revision.

Reliability : 5
I've used it on a couple of dozen gigs with no backup. It's only failed once, locking up in a soundless state after being moved slightly. Turning it off and on restored operation.

Customer Support : 9
I haven't returned or upgraded this unit. My GSP-21 had some early troubles and the company was great about fixing it promptly. The Legend upgrade I bought for it was easily installed also. All my phone calls have be returned promptly by friendly competent people.

Overall Rating : 3
I wouldn't buy it again, or at least I'd wait until better patches and a better manual were available, hopefully at a lower price, too. I wish it had a headphone jack (yes, I know about y-cording the outputs), a rear input jack, XLR outs, and a better speaker simulator. Mostly, I wish it sounded better and was easier to program. I have to say that so far it gets in the way of my playing, not helps it.
But hey, all of you go out an buy one or they'll never upgrade it! Thanks!

Very easy... Thru the manual once, and you'll be modifying presets... A few more times thru the manual, and some trial and error, and you will be doing fun stuff like linking parameters to input dynamics.. (which by the way is not documented correctly in the manual) My firmware version is 1.02.. I understand there is a 1.03, but since I've not encountered any trouble, I dont see why I'd need to upgrade.. I've had it for a week now... And I think I've got it basically all figured out..

Sound Quality : 10
Absolutely awesome... This is my first piece of equipment with tubes in it, and I must say, you really can tell a difference... I am a former RP12 user, and always thought I had great tone (which I did), but the 2112 is just alot better. As usual, the effects are all top notch, and extremely configurable... One thing though, my RP12 had "Whammy" and "Smooth Whammy", the "smooth whammy" seemed to be much faster and better tracking... The 2112 only seems to have the regular "Whammy" in which there is a perceptible delay from the time you pick until the time you hear the note.. The 10band GEQ is alot easier to use than the 4band PEQ on my old RP12..

Reliability : 8
I wouldnt know... BUt i've not had a lick of trouble with any of my digitech stuff in the past.

Customer Support : No Opinion
dunno. never dealt with em..

Overall Rating : 10
BTW, that price was with the Control 1 also... Hell yeah, I'd buy it again... I'm extremely pleased... BIG step up from my RP12. I was going to wait and see how the RP20's were, but since they've not yet been shipped, I got restless and just said "screw it, I'll go ALL THE WAY:)" I will be adding songs recorded with the 2112 to my web page, as time goes on... check it out at http://glock.triax.com

I give this a 5 because the manual is terrible. But, as I understand that is a problem with many Digitech products It is easy to operate, and edit patches. However, you end up learning on your own. It would help to have a least a little more info in the manual. Some of it's best features are undocumented. This leaves you poking around and most of the time getting frustrated.

Sound Quality : 8
Sound quality is excelent. With the noise gates you can virtually eliminate any unwanted sounds. The effects are very good. I like the reverbs very much, and the Digital effects are great. The best part though is the great tube tones that you can get out of this machine. Both clean, and distorted tones are easy create.

Reliability : 10
Have not had a problem. I have had the unit 6 months now. There has been a firmware upgrade since i bought it (1.02 --> 1.03).

Customer Support : 9
I have only dealt with digitech via email, but they have always gotten back to me the next business day. I asked them about any firmware upgrades, and they sent it to me no charge. Also, with the digitech 2112 email discussion group it is easy to get answers to your questions from other users.

Overall Rating : 8
If it wasn't for the crappy manual I would absolutely go nuts about this machine. I am still extremely happy with it. It is easy, even without the manual, to create some bitchin tones.
If you need patches, go to you search engine and look up:
digitech, 2112, sgs, effects, patches
any combinations should do. That should lead you to the pages that are popping up with 2112 patches. Including mine of course.
I would give you the address, but I am having a hard time finding a reliable internet provider, so I keep changing servers. I guess it's time to get a domain registered.

As just about everyone else has said, getting a great sound out of the 2112 is as simple as turning it out... The only complaints I had with any of the standard presets were that the EQ tended to be a little on the bright side (easily fixed), and the noise suppression would often cut the tail end of sustaining notes (an easy adjustment).
Editing patches is really simple, once you get the hang of the effects architecture (which is a little different from the Ensoniq DP/4 I used before this unit). The amp-like controls make life very easy.
The manual is not real crash hot, with a couple of inaccuracies, and some glaring omissions (it took me a couple of weeks to stumble across how to set the pan position for the pre-amp stages, although I wasn't looking very hard :)
As for the revision in my unit, it lists v1.03 when the Control-One starts, but 1.0 on the LCD on the front panel...

Sound Quality : 9
It sounds brilliant. I run it through a Marshall 9200 power amp, in full stereo, and its superb. The only complaint I have is that the harmonising pitch-shifter seems a little quirkier than some others I've used...

Reliability : 8
The unit crashed catastrophically twice within the first week (half way through a band rehearsal the first time!) Both times it happened while editing the assignments for pedals on the Control One, and I think it was down to my not pushing one button in the process of storing the settings... So it was my mistake as far as I can tell, but it shouldn't be a mistake the operating system lets the user make, much less one that locks up the machine, requiring a hard reset and destroying all user presets...
Since then, I've had no problems with the unit at all (over a few months now), and it's moved around (in an SKB case) at least once a week.

Customer Support : No Opinion
I haven't dealt with customer support yet, but the Internet mailing list provides a few interesting bits of information.

Overall Rating : 9
Without question, I would buy this unit again in the same situation. The sound is excellent, the programming simplicity itself, and the unit is remarkably flexible (I haven't yet needed a sound I couldn't create...)

it is very easy to use the editing function. The manual is clear . I have it since 2 months and it's 1.02 ver.

Sound Quality : 8
At low volume, the sound is good but I don't like the distortion at higher volume. It's sound vague. It's like if I have a big digital reverb but the reverb is off.

Reliability : 4
A bug appeared only 5 days after I bought it. I shipped it back to the company and they upgraded the processor to the version 1.02. I received it 2 weeks after but another bug appeared: the harmonizer. The sound of the harmonizer was not right. I reshipped it back and they finally gave me a new one that works well until now. I also note that a fine adjustment for the pitch shifter was missing.

Customer Support : 10
The customer support is very good because they gave me a new machine that works well.

By far the best i've used so far. All those infinity knobs make it almost as easy to use as a pedal, except you can save it all into memory! Perhaps my only complaint is that they didn't put in one more knob for the button to be able to access all the preamp options faster. As it is now, i have to multi page it 5 or 6 steps in order to get to the tube section which is wht i access most. Besides this though it's just plain fun to edit.

Sound Quality : 7
Very quite, but the dist sounds like it's coming straight out of a box. I changed the tubes and found some that don't sound so cold (an RCA and a Ruby, or maybe it was an AEG). It really helps to go in and play around with the settings, As with all these sorts of boxes, getting beyond the presets really helps the sounds. Surprisingly i have found that it sounds great with vocals, even better than with guitar. The oak room verb sounds especially nice. Overall the effects are good, i especially like the wah (sold my Morely). Seem to get some crackling on certain presets, but it could be a cable

Reliability : No Opinion
So far so good

Customer Support : No Opinion
No idea, haven't tried yet.

Overall Rating : 8
Nice quite machine, just a shame they didn't have stereo inputs instead of mono. Easy to use and wonderful to edit. The dist sounds boxy, but if you run it through a tube amp it helps. The verb is good, but strange enough i prefered my old quadraverb GT's reverb for my guitars (although QV sucked for vocals and bass, while the 2112 sounds good with both). I bought it because it was quite, had a lot of options and most of all because the user interface makes editing a total breeze.

Very easy for it to sound awesome. Hard to program at first because the manual is a bit difficult to understand. Read it twice and it'll hit you though. I don't know if there is an upgrade or what the upgrade would change but mine is v1.01

Sound Quality : 10
Very very excellent sound. Very clear sounding. Slight delay on harmony effects though but nice just the same.

Reliability : 9
Only had one problem when I was scolling through the effects to change a bunch of little ** 's came across the top and the whole thing froze. Then I turned it off and back on again and it was like caught in a loop trying to intialize itself. I turned it off and on like 10 times then it finally said it was resetting itself. (wiped out all my custom patches too!) Then it went into some weird editing mode where each button pressed came up with weird numbers and then it went into "Edit SDisc II" mode. Dunno why this happened but I turned it off and then on and it has worked perfectly ever since then.

Customer Support : No Opinion
Dunno yet. Hasn't died on me.

Overall Rating : 10
Limitless tones. Play around and you'll find your perfect sound.
