This box is very easy to use. To really get your own tone, however, you must delve into the secret dark places of the unit (which are awesome by the way) If you have alot of time to stumble onto the many areas of this box, you'll eventually figure stuff out. Digitech needs to fire their tech writers and hire a real musician to write their pubs. Most of us don't need 4 pages of basic wiring into an amplifier when I'm sure we would much rather have info on stuff like the "s disc/ pie/ skeleton" theory mubo jumbo which incidentally is crucial to understanding the true beauty of this unit.

Dead silent. In fact, it helped me discover a ground hum I've been neglecting coming out of my brand new humbuckers. I just sold an ART mach 2 and the digitech blows it away with useful patches. I would buy it all over again for the Boston patch alone.

I love everything about this product execpt the shitty manual. For $900, I expect alot better than a KINKO's photocopy. For the love of god, Digitech, buy yourself a laser printer and a scanner at least! I love the built in tuner. One more odd ball thing - Does everyone out there know how hard it is to find 1/4" TRS male to male cables for mixing boards!!! It is ok to have balanced outputs but, you should make the connections XLR for going into the mixer. You can still put 2 unbalanced 1/4" outs for the average kid who is going straight into his favorite combo amp.

It is very easy to get some good sound out of the box. I am very impressed with the amp like controls that allow you to modify the presets without getting in the the programs. I am not impressed with the manual! This is a complicated machine and the manual is written to get you started. If you really want to get into the machine you need to get your knowledge somewhere else. This is my first effects system and I have read the manual cover to cover and I still don't understand how to do everything that I want to do. Again I got great sounds out of the box with the presets and minor modifications. The user interface is great. Only the manual brings my rating down.

The sound is great! My wife opinion of my sound and playing went from a bum to a bum to a hero. I am going to order two Marshall 1922 cabinets so I can get true stereo.

I called the factory about the manual, I live close to the factory and I was disappointed that they did not offer to let me drop by and ask questions. I have heard that they are really good to do that.

I would but it again without question. It is much better than the GP2101s that I tried.

It is nearly a month since since acquisition, so I thought I would update my original comments. The more I use the 2112, the more I am convinced that this is how digital effects should be laid out. Very fast, very easy to use. About the only disappointment is the manual which is fairly clearly written but poorly reproduced. Understanding how much of each SDISC an effect uses is not completely obvious, but it hasn't stopped me from finding the unit eminently usable.

Wonderful sound, very clean, no dropoffs. I found all the effects to be very usable, and none of them are awful. I would probably like more sweep on the Control One expression pedal, but that's pretty subjective.
The only issue I have found is when running the unit in stereo out to different combo amps. I find that balancing the R/L outputs to amps with different input stages takes a long time. Once done, sounds great.

Given that I've bounced it in the road case once or twice, I'm very impressed with the reliability and see no reason to worry about a backup at this time

Surprise! Digitech usually gets wacked for crappy support, but ONCE someone answers the phone and you get a tech on the line, the people are extremely helpful and the fellow I'm spoken to a couple of times really knew the unit cold.

I haven't had the luxury to play through the type of units that are priced stages above this one. It sounds a thousand times better than the BOSS ME-8 it replaced, and while a more expensive unit may sound more complete, I have no complaints so far. You get what you pay for and is this price point, I couldn't find a better system.

Unlike most guitar effects, all you have to do to get a sound is turn this unit on. The factory settings are actually decent, but it wouldn't be any fun to limit yourself to those! Programming is really easy, with a large display and easy to follow logic. You have many skelteton siganl routings to choose from, and changing the fx in each position is as easy as turning a dial. My current firmware version is 1.01.

The unit is extremely quiet. Most fx are excellent and subtle. The preamp is amazing; it's like a great soild state preamp and a very good tube preamp in one box. The reverbs could be slightly better, but for the price they're terrifc.

If it's anything like the 2101, it's should be great in this dept. I haven't gigged it yet though. I should note that I played dozens of gigs on my 2101 without ever having a problem, and this box looks the same internally...

Support is second to none, especially via the internet 2101 mail list. (Not sponsored by Digitech) I reported a small Midi implementation bug, and had a new firmware version within a couple of weeks.

The only things that the 2101 had that this one doesn't that I miss are a second set of outs (XLR), headphone jack, and a 2nd rear input jack. There really isn't any other product out there that compares to this for the price. A Triaxis and a PCM-80 would probably sound better, but they'd cost four times as much too.

Their are very usable sounds, The manuall could of had looken a bit professional for a Unit this Price, Current Firmware is 1.03 it says on the Control one, but on the SGS 2112 it says Version 1.0. BTW get the Control one and more Expression Pedals its the only way you'll make full use of this system

Noisy? Nope, the effects sounded better than my FX770 this is my 3rd effects unit, I would rank most of the effects 10/10 they give out a nice warm natural sounds on the Reverbs :)

Only had for 3 Days, and yeah I would probably depend on it, its in a SKB case so I think I wouldn't use a backup for a gig situation, just get lotsa cushioners for the SGS2112 and it should be safe for throwing around :)

Yeah I'd would Definately buy it again, the only thing that sucks about is the use of Modules for effects just scrap these or boost up memory for more effects at a time. Its a Bastard to learn but once you get it its easy as pie :)

How easy? Turn it on!. This unit makes other rack mount style multi effectors pale by comparison for ease of use AND ease of programming. I actually still have the unit on eval, and it is winning every test. The manual is a cheal photocopy, but is legible and easy to follow. I would have expected a professionally printed manual given the NOT CHEAP price point of the unit.

The effects I have used thus far (3 days) are exceptional. Even the presets are very useful, almost contrary to the seeming unwritten rule that presets be crappy. The distortions are excellent, varying from near indistinguishable from my Fender 4x10 Blues DeVille, through the Marshall 8280 Valvestate to exactly like the Marshall JTM-100 when cranked up. ( and then shoved through a Rivera Engineering Super Sink to avoid murder at the hands of my neighbours ). Noise is gone. The Silencer II noise control is excellent and also serves to act as a wonderful attack delay tool.

I dunno. I've had the unit 3 days, and it is sitting on a bookcase. I have no opinion as to whether the unit will survive the rigors of the road. Note that the case has the same solid construction as the GSP-2101 Artist, which many professionals use regularly (Alex Lifeson has praised his 2101 greatly).

Well, I only ever called to get a brochure and to ask in advance if the unit had a headphone jack. The person who handled the brochure order was very friendly. The person who answered my question about the headphone jack was not.

Actually haven't bought it yet, but will. I also want to get the Control One foot controller for it. It was superior to other products I checked out including the 2101, the Roland and a couple of others that I found so obtuse that I gave up early. I actually find that I am more confident when trying new things since it is so easy to get the tone I want, I can focus quickly on the new things I wish to learn.
The other real benefit, is that I find the unit works well with a lot of different guitars without having to fiddle with all the controls to get a good tone. I have tried it through the following guitars: 1974 Les Paul Standard 1996 Jimmy Page Les Paul 1995 Stevie Ray Vaughan Strat 1990 Ovation Collector's Edition Electric/Acoustic 1997 Godin LGX 50 Something Telecaster (required the most tweaking, sounded great in the Country Pickin program)

The 2112 is bonehead easy to use. It has a great LCD that graphically displays the architecture of each patch, and allows manipulation of all parameters using user-friendly knobs (NO TOGGLE BUTTONS). I did a 3-day comparison between the 2112 and a Roland GP-100, and I never really got started on the Roland because it is SOOOOOOOO much more difficult to manipulate (in comparison, the GP-100 has a lame 2-line display and cheesy user controls requiring you to dive through menu after menu to do just about anything). Setting up custom patches on the 2112 was beyond easy, and even something simple like naming patches shows how much thought went into the design of the unit. I had originally planned to get a GP-100 and had all but bought one already, and decided to give the 2112 a test as an afterthought. I'm glad I did. The 2112 crushed the Roland in my opinion. Even the manual wasn't all that bad (I've heard bad things about the manuals from Digitech. They both weren't all that great, but to compare: the Roland sounds like it was written by an engineer, the Digitech by a musician. I am an engineer, and I'd rather read the latter).

I have a Boogie combo now, and I like the 2112 almost as much (for distortion tone). The Digitech has two 12AX7 tubes, so it has true tube tone, but it also has a solid state distortion option. You can use both, one or the other, or neither. And each type (tube vs. solid state) has a bunch of voicings, and adjustable gain. The thing can sound just about any way you'd like. And the clean sounds are just as good (far better than my Boogie in clean channel). The effects are very nice (a big step up from my old Alesis Quadraverb GT), and the noise supressor is awesome.

The only bad rap this unit has been getting is in reliability. One dealer I talked to said every 2112 he has sold has come back busted. Yikes! I haven't had any problems, but I play with my fingers crossed every time. I won't gig without my backup (the trusty crusty old Quadraverb). I HOPE it will turn out to be initial production glitches that were causing the problems. I hope...

No idea here either, as I've never owned anything from Digitech, but I've heard some serious horror stories about their customer support. Even with these nasty rumors about customer support and reliability, I bought the 2112 anyway. I may be a moron, but this thing is so cool I had to ignored the rumors.

So far I think this is the best piece of guitar equipement I've ever owned. I am still on the Honeymoon though. I've only had it a couple weeks, and am using it in its first gig soon. Depending on what happens, my opinions may change! If anyone else out there has a 2112, I'd love to hear about your experiences, or get some patches. Send me a note if you have any info...
